Now am I thinking this is going to hold together? This is all stuff that can be done with a reasonable minimal amount of time and you get maximum result. But if in the meantime they decide to go police state, we'll be shooting their ass. I mean, it's just we're going to war, so congratulations. But that can happen anytime. Well, one of the things about this with ACU, let's talk about that for just a minute because when you hear ACU, that's great. I want to talk about the dyeing that stuff with the brown. I would love to find out some more about that because that's what I plan on doing with it. Well, first of all, remember the eight? Yeah, the ACU works well in some environments. Strangely enough, there is some rock down in the southwestern corner of the country. Western Arizona and Southern California, ACU actually works. It's amazing. Okay, in most places it doesn't. So this was supposed to be the universal camel. It wasn't. I think it was designed just to be the shoot no shoot uniform is what it was. They knew they were going to go out of that or foliage and into the desert. So they pulled something that would be in camouflage out there. Yeah. But the idea was that, you know, it's an American uniform. Nobody else had embraced or adopted. You'll notice nobody else adopted that color range. Anybody notice that? Only people that purchased and used The ACU color range, which has actually a sage, a good color in it, there are some uniforms that have similar shades, but are much more suitable for most environments where they're intended. Okay? But it does work in certain conditions. As I mentioned, one of the things to remember is if you're going to be doing winter operations, it is actually a good base color for snow. No, it's not stark white, but usually you add white camouflage. OK? So in other words, you have snow covers. However, your under layer, next layer of camo, is the ACU. So when it leaks out, It actually, when it peaks out, so to speak, or leaks out, what happens is you see a shade that kind of rolls in with the terrain to the rear of the, you know, like to the, either the snow fields you might be in with a little bit of tussles of grass, undergrowth that's, you know, semi-green with, you know, dying or dead leaves, also pine, which is back, you know, in the, behind you. So it actually can be used quite successfully in a lot of situations, but mostly not. Okay, it has its limits. The military took it, bought it, and ran with it, and they've already phased it. In fact, you'll notice you don't even see that much with the hand-me-down outfits for the slave units that they've got operating over in Ukraine. So just a heads up on that one. I was about to change the color a bit to get it away from the shoot me target type of situation. Because that is one of the things that I'm keeping aware of. Anybody that shows up with that on is going to be a lot more suspect than somebody that shows up in some of the other ones that I know are around here. Well the other thing here again is, as I mentioned, is either using two of the different browns that Ritt makes, actually there's several colors. But in Ohio, they're using one of the greens and changing the shade of the ACU, going a little into the green shade range across the board, altering the base color so it's still in the, like the, sage, but slightly darker, but the other colors adjust accordingly. That particular uniform conversion and staining puts it more towards the summer season. We'll work in pine forest, but a lot of Ohio isn't pine forest, okay? And it's designed to be a friend-fo uniform solution, and it's still a better general solution for all around seasons by going to that color shade. Now, I prefer going into the brown brown-green kind of arrangement. You'll notice there are several different camouflage dye videos that are on YouTube that will show you what I'm talking about. But walnut is a phenomenal traditional staining system and what's nice about this is if you understand how to do it, which is not complicated, it just, you know, time takes time, It's always available. Walnuts are always available naturally. So the neat thing is you will always have die stock for future equipment. This is the thing that people have to think through in terms of longevity. You know, we look at what's happening with our economy, what's going to happen with our resources being cut off. And whatever we can, natural materials like this, the big advantage is It is not going to create any tell signature. It's not going to glaze. It's not going to be glossy. In other words, it's not going to be glossy. It will be less likely to show up or reduce thermal signature. Not completely, but it will help because again, it isn't organic and it's in a particular range with regard to both the acids and other components that really assist with that particular problem. Now what we're going to look at is trying to do more towards the atax and middle brown atax. Why? The atax in that brown range actually works really well in under most conditions. During the summer you still have brown and a certain amount of different shades of brown base colors. It's not coyote brown because there's a mix. And again, we can do this by dipping and also padding. This is something we're going to probably, I want to do a video on because I've got a good idea of how to mimic more effectively than we've already done the ATACS idea, the cloud camo. And you don't want, we're not going to create real detailed lines. However, there's a certain amount of detailing going on with the base camouflage that we ACU has set up as a digital. Each of those patterns, the digital and the Air Force ABU, which is the Air Force Tiger Strike Digital, are useful as is because it's, you know, use what you got. But if we modify it, it's that much more unique and interesting and serves our purpose. So again, we're going to give everybody a heads up on this as it develops, because it's going to be this week. We do have, I do have a massive quantity of ACU. Brand new is something you when you when the time comes issued out of the inventories that we have I can put two or three companies in ACU top to bottom in terms of all of their tactical gear elbow pads body armor Utility vests, you know either that or a mixer will probably be a little bit of the a B you that I just mentioned in there because For a little while it was reasonably priced now It's become a popular thing and it's going up to crazy price range So it's something we probably won't be as as focused on but if you run into it out there use it So these particular rifle sets were steel. They're a good price. They work. Go ahead caller jump in there, please Yeah, so I recently bought six Water pouch holders that were ECU Molly And they're the cylindrical kind that would hold like a 32 ounce Nelgene bottle. And I don't like ACU because I'm in Florida because there's a lot of green down here. So what I did was I took a laundry bag and I wrapped it around and I clothes pinned it on one side to like the molly straps on the back. And I bought some dark hunter green. paint, I forget which brand it is, but it doesn't really matter. It turned out really good and it's much darker. It still retains the digital format. So it looks like a honeycomb design because of the laundry bag along with 100 green and the breakup of the light colors of the ACU plus the digital format. So it kind of looks like dirty green digital foliage, something like that. Yeah, I put pictures of this, if people want to look at it, I put pictures of this on my Instagram page, it's Todd in Florida, it's T-O-D-D-E-N-F-L, and I've got before and after pictures of that. So that works out for ACU really well, but if you want the laundry bag pattern to show through. You have to stuff something in either the pouch or put something underneath the vest or whatever it is like the shirt. And then you have to drape the laundry bag and hold it tight and in place like with clothes pins or something over the part that you're going to paint. And I'll tell you something, I tried this with RID Eye. It didn't work. Now it will work if you have the military clothing, like the shirts and pants because those are mostly cotton. But on your other items like your vests and your bags that are made out of nylon, the RIT dye won't stick to that. So you're going to have to use regular spray paint. So that's my advice on that. Now there are different techniques for using the RIT dye, but it requires boiling everything. And again, you've got to have containers, pots, or cauldrons. It depends on what guy is available to make that work. But yeah, I know. Well, that's just it. It does. It's never fun working in that particular part of the industry, no matter who's doing it, no matter how sophisticated it is, to be quite honest. But what's interesting, like you said, the spray paint solution is something that's been used for a very long time. with people building ghillie suits, etc. Your base color, you want to change it up a little bit on that uniform. Or if you have items you want to dust up and match up, Krylon Flat or whatever other flat paints you can find are a good solution. So, now again, what you brought up, you can make like, for instance, a cutout for those people who are listening to use your technique. make a cut up of the shirt, like a human body, a human upper torso, like a flat version, and you know, clamp and adjust. Remember, camo doesn't have to be perfect. We look for perfection because we're used to it, you know, we have a uniform eye. And remember guys, you can have... I mixed it with OD Green. And yeah, you can tell that there's a difference, but so what? I mean, it's camo, you know? Not just because you have OD Green doesn't mean that some of your pouches can't be digital or multi-cam or... I took all my multi-cam and I did dip them in the red dye and they're like a tropical multi-cam now. So, you know, it does work. Well, if you're around a lot of... If you're around a lot of green, you know... It's best to use green. This paint that I use is Rust-Oleum Dark Hunter Green. And it came out great if you want to see the pictures on it. I did the same thing with a hatchet handle that was yellow, bright yellow. I just put the laundry bag over and painted it to Hunter Green and now it's like a checkered yellow and green, mostly green. So, you know, paint works great on that stuff. Exactly. Oh, and there are some pretty, you know, thank you for bringing it up. There's a lot of tools that are actually pretty decent, but the latest cycle has dictated that there's some kind of safety color built into the casting on the handles or on the body of the, you know, the ballistic material that they use to make maybe the body of the hatchet, etc. That's been very common. So there again, Paint's gonna even if the paint chips off and it probably is gonna wear eventually Well, just break out another can of spray paint just give it a little shade of dark and you're done Don't worry about it being too pretty cuz pretty ain't gonna count for anything in the future Most important is not being seen. Yeah, that's the issue. Yes Yep real quick Also, you mentioned tropical and I will point out to everybody that in back in the day Remember the Air Force and the army made some very interesting varying shades on the woodland camo and the Air Force had what was called a tropical wash pattern. It was sought even at the during the war, during Vietnam, it was sought after heavily and hard to get. Certain units were able to acquire it because they sought it out for sniper operations, etc. and uses a base color with their ghillie suits or just for base camouflage. Obviously, for what it was intended. But it is very different. And there was and has been a wide range of woodland camels in the earth brown range, the standard loam range that you see that most everybody's familiar with from the post-Vietnam Cold War era. And then there were several in-between that were produced. So there's a lot of unique stuff there. I mean a lot of unique stuff out there floating around. It's harder to get because now you have the Vietnam collectors after it because it is Vietnam. Well it is 50 years ago so oh well. That happens, get used to it. But you can mimic it. If you look at some of these ideas, they worked. They were functional. Like I said, I'm playing more towards the ATACs. What I'm trying to do with the walnut die is what we're going to do is I'm going to sponge it. We're gonna boil. I'm gonna be boiling the husks and then I'm going to immerse the sponge and I'm gonna be pressing it into the material I'm also gonna be doing a big ton of a big bunch of burlap for ghillie suits I've got several hundred yards here to do and that needs to be done and out of the way I need to finish it because again we could use a burlap as it is and guys don't forget burlap ages Burlap is just sitting there if you put it out in the Sun it will bleach So you get different shades of both brown and then eventually turning to almost like a dull gray. Now that's without doing anything. That's just leaving it, using it the way it is with a little bit of enhancer and a little bit of coloration. Again, spray paint would be a quick solution and work just fine. But there's also other solutions with Rit dye or natural dye. And what I'm going to do is use the natural solution, which is going to be the walnut husks. And also hickory nut. I'm going to do some hickory nut. That's a little tougher. You've got to cook it longer to extract the dye, but it gives you a different shade range. And even how much you apply it, how thick you apply it is also going to determine, obviously, what color you get when you're using the natural husk dye system. So you don't have, it's not going to end up dark all the time. It's purely a matter of how patient you are and willing to, you know, work with it. And then you have to develop your skill. Yes, what I'm doing is trying to perfect a better standard in the time I have. And I ain't got much spare time. But to try and perfect this so that we can use it to the best of our ability. Because it is one thing we'll be there next year. If the economy went to hell in a handcart, remember guys, walnuts are still going to be growing on the trees. Well, at least those trees don't get chopped down for firewood or destroyed by the government, etc. So we need to be thinking ahead. And each part of the country has different materials that will work the same way. Different types of either nuts or other natural materials that went and properly used will work as a dye stock. We may not have paint. Right now, paint's in short supply. And again, it's also gone up in price. You can't buy as much as you used it to. It means we need to stretch our dollars or not spend any dollars at all. Anything else, caller? Go ahead, jump in there, please. Now I got all this stuff I went to the clearance section in Walmart every Walmart has one and that they had like 10 cans of this Rust-Oleum for $2.50 apiece and paying right now is about seven or eight bucks a can so that was a good deal um excellent, but you know Just some of the things that people might want to be getting that they're not really thinking about is that I've got the reason I bought these water pouches is because On my backpack I've got two Nalgene bottles and then I've got two clean Cintine 40 ounce bottles which will fit in the same pouch. And I've also got a 3 liter bladder. But if I filter the water, which everybody should have some kind of filtration system on their pack, like even if it's an urban combat load, you need to have some kind of water filtration system because if you get somewhere where you can't get back to your base and you have to stay out overnight and extend a period of time, you run out of water, you're going to need to process more water. And what that means is filtration, then you put in your boiling cups, your stainless steel boiling cups, you boil it. throw it in the clean, canteen, single wall canteens, let it cool down, and then pour that into your Naljeans because you're not going to pour hot water directly into your bladder or your Naljeans. So you got to think about your filter. You got to think about what size bags you have, what size cups to boil them with, what size grate will fit in your pack. Because if you have a pack, like say a a two-day assault pack and you don't have a way to process water and you're out somewhere where you can't get to water, you've got to become self-sufficient right then and right there. And yeah, you may have the intentions of only going out for a day or two on some kind of recon mission, but you could get stuck out for a week or two and without water you're going to be stuck. And if you start drinking water out of a creek bed or something, you think, well, this water's clean. It's good enough. I'm just going to boil it. It would be OK. No, it's not. So you can buy what you think is essential right now when people are talking about gearing up for some nasty times. But the primary thing that you've got to think about in your loadout is water and how to process it. And that means filtration, boiling, letting it cool down somehow in another container. and also dunking it in bladders or null genes. They make a 64 ounce clean canteen single wall right now. It's 64 ounce. You can boil the water in the clean canteen, let it cool, and then pour that into your primary water bottles. It's like $35. And they make a separate pouch for it. And they're the only ones That make the single wall. You can't boil water in a double wall Canteen, it's impossible plus it'll ruin the canteen you have to have a single wall canteen This is how you process water you filter it you boil it and you let it cool off and then dump it into your primary water containers which are Probably going to be plastic null genes or something similar or water bladders Imagine me and mine To think about the girl you love So happy together Best to dine And you say you belong to me So please my mind Imagine how the world could be So very far So happy together No matter how they toss the dice One for me is you
