In the back of the book, the second one, there was like one or two pages that were dedicated to something. I don't remember exactly what it was called, but it was more or less, I'll just paraphrase, the training basically looked like a board game that was supposed to be representing the places that were in the book. Is that a thing? oh yeah i actually built it put it all together but it never followed through on doing anymore with it actually mapped it out the playing pieces are done uh... using the uh... the standard uh... all uh... what basically using the standard format that you saw with the bookshelf games uh... making it easy to understand uh... but it was basically a uh... take a look battle board as you would do it in a way a regular military operation however what it would work is applying a role-playing game where you could actually you are what my plan was a role-playing game where you actually map out the uh... use of the resources neither side you could play a grass or you could play you know offense defense patriot mission You should run with that. There's a lot of people that play board games like Warhammer and Dungeons and Dragons and all sorts of stuff. That would probably be pretty cool to have something that you could do recreationally in like a bunker or something, but still have it almost kind of be like a semi-training aid. Right, the way that I did it because of the conditions, you know, like behind the wire, the first experiment was what we used at USEX, which was distance strings. rather than using a board system we used knotted like india knotted distance trains and when you were mapping out your like uh... a tactical board of three d board uh... we would be would make the representation more realistic as we were actually come toward the land to match the tactical maps and uh... that with that was a sandbox system but it was a very elaborate sandbox system uh... you could do with paper that was the advantage of that was that you could take and convert over to uh... expanded one to fifty thousand standard military maps uh... well public government maps and what you would do is still use the nodding system because that was purely uh... you know designated in quarter mile half mile or clicks one thousand two thousand three thousand four thousand clicks but it depends if you want you american senator metric uh... otherwise the basic uh... values would be consistent uh... and of course the differences one of the things i incorporated that was uh... devaluation progressive devaluation because of casualties now in the old um... bookshelf systems they actually had a flip so when you took a hit and off the unit took a hit you would lose fifty percent of your fighting capability but that was not consistent with the way everything works in a military i you know an actual military barber was closer was better than the average bear to actually was a good representation of the old bookshelf games or a good representation of how all progressive mapping takes place today it's all done digitally but it still does the same thing you're still basically the imagery images you see like representation of units it like i said dot uh... european german units here go to you to punch in german military vehicles in the field or military german military armor they were german military mechanized uh... look at the bumpers if you pay attention you'll notice that they actually put the i'd be marker for the type of unit per the mapping marker that you would find out about all that In other words, your infantry or marked as infantry, mechanized infantry marked as mechanized, armor, missile batteries, artillery batteries, purely a matter of what are you running with and what are you a part of. The advantage, well, disadvantages, like I said, I can read their bumpers and know who they are. I mean, not kind of guessed. I know exactly what I'm looking at. including an ID marker that usually has the unit designation. Now if you're really trying to disinform, you could change that in the field. But the advantage of it for the purposes of understanding and relating to what we're talking about with, say, wargaming is that whatever you see physically in the real world is represented on the board. And so you build up knowledge, working knowledge, about how small unit tactics, mid-unit tactics, and overall integrated large unit tactics develop. See, that's the thing about, you know, you were asking a question for instance, understand that the militia at large is an organization. Okay, there is the militia at large, but there are organizations in different states that are the militia at large, part of a long old organization that we exist, I mean, decades and decades. quickly take use utilizing existing manpower they would become cadre the cadre would be with integrate bring in uh... new people and create new formations typically at the company strength because that is still again that's the larger metam mid building block but that is a large unit building block the company is the next here up beyond say if if you were developing right now if you're all listening developing demand is your first concern individual but then fire teams and squads are priority now after that certainly the platoon is needed yet understand how a platoon works but in terms of tradition the company of one hundred one twenty one sixty whatever it is that's needed depending upon technology uh... that count that next here is more commonly critical than the platoon is because it's company-strength units that are deployed even the worst way if you do the working knowledge about that number mid-unit the platoon uh... a company of uh... twelve ten-man fire teams could accomplish a great deal even without any working middle management the middle management being the put Now, there's still an advantage because the platoon as a group is a consistent combat element that can be understood by the nature of how we've been fighting for quite some time, and it relates to the overall fighting strength of the formations with regard to sub-management, you know, how to get that next tier up in junior officers going. About 6 o'clock this morning, Central Standard Time, a story broke out of India that the United States military has pulled their Patriot missile defense systems out of Saudi Arabia. Some of the Saudis were grumbling that they feel betrayed by the US government. because they're actually under attack or under a threat of Yemeni missiles, rocket attacks. The story out of India suggested that we were pulling those Patriot batteries and taking them into positions against China, but no more information was provided than that. I'm also picking up bits of chatter. that there may be a probability that India, excuse me, may be a probability that Biden has green-lighted China for an attack on Taiwan. Well, if they choose to do that, the interesting thing, as we said before, is to see who would help Taiwan out, out of policy. Either A, they play the European theater of World War II game and let everybody get picked off one at a time. The Philippines uh... and other countries choose to help i want to start a poll and you'll be marked one of the things that occurred with afghanistan is that the call upon is the creation of pakistan but uh... call upon used chinese intelligence and pakistani logistics support including medical support to basically hit the afghan army where they weren't and they were able to keep them off balance than they collapse But the reason they're doing that is that Pakistan is being used along with the Taliban, has a proxy against India to hold India in check. We don't realize that India is a growing and emerging political and military, excuse me, not political, but financial, monetary, and military power in the region. Right now, China, excuse me, India is beginning to move, and they're part of that fleet. of made up of various nations including Germany, Great Britain and France, that's trying to counter China in the South China Sea. And what it is, China does not want India to be a part of any military operations in the Pacific Rim. Apparently, China believes they can deal with the Japan, they can deal with the North Star, they can deal with the Philippines. India is the wild card because India has the ability where they're basically next door to China to be a threat. So what's happened is Afghanistan is now becoming a deterrent or a counter to Indian influence and power in the region. But there has been reports that Biden had a meeting with the Chinese prime minister or whoever they call him, Xi Jinping. He's had a meeting with him, but Biden made the comment that the United States would do nothing to jeopardize a one-China policy. Within days of that, Taiwan has actually made overtures to China in an attempt to fort off Chinese aggression. But it looks like the world is starting to get very nervous about China and Taiwan. And the problem is that we are so connected to Taiwan through our technologies and even machine tools are all interconnected to Taiwan. We're in trouble. And if Taiwan falls, our economy is going to fall like a cheap suit. Well, one of the things Taiwan does better than China is especially tool technology. And they've been up there with us for quite some time. Yeah, absolutely. And this is not going to... Yeah, this is one thing that people don't understand. Many companies have been running off a lot of other equipment for many, many years, if not decades. uh... that's problem that neck of the woods and the bad guys know it too otherwise everyone and i mean everyone there is not a single industry that is not short and missing uh... whole element of its inventory right now exactly what we want to work quit but so much of our stuff in the tooling like the jet tools in a lot of our meals and ladies all of this has a rich something originating from paiwan A lot of the rare earths that are used for electronics have this connection to Taiwan. See, if China can take Taiwan, they basically control the world on rare earths. They basically, like I said, a lot of them are machine tools, all have a connection to Taiwan. So that means other than some old American made stuff providing you could even get parts or make parts, We're going to be I mean the parts supply that's bad now. It's going to be worse. Yep Well right now Dell is now telling everybody if you're thinking about buying a machine a new machine That you need to do it like you order it now and maybe or maybe you won't get it by December and even then there's no Guarantee, they're actually just what I'm saying. There's no guarantee. They'll even have it anyway. So that's one of these things where you so we told you so and we told you so but i would say this i've warned everybody for years and guys you all been hearing me about saving all of your old computer technology no matter what the hell it is well better to be talking with an old one old computer language and with text rather than nothing whatsoever and if you don't have the hardware then you're not going to be able to rub two sticks together and make things happen. The other side has already pretty well rolled up the sidewalk on this. Electronics example is real quick, there's no surplus electronics companies like we saw, say, eight years ago or five years ago out there. uh... batteries to something to just mentioned batteries guys rechargeable there was this court and i said well for a long as it lasts this surplus but when this is gone it's gone and guess what because the industry that they were buying the stuff from was american those companies are gone that's why they were in a certain thing together at ample mark you know in the library of the gear making file then there's also a companion video to it You know that the two websites for that gear making file is now, they're gone, they're defunct. So that means the information in the file is the only information that exists. But there was a whole cottage industry in the United States for web gear, for small companies. And here's the problem. Even that industry has basically now went out of business and the companies that supplied them with the commercial and industrial machines equipment that used, you know, that needed to make that little industry work, they're gone now too. I mean, Nickaso's gone. All these companies, a lot of these companies are gone, even the people that made specialty items. And I'm just talking about things from sewing gear, sewing, you know, clothing. A lot of that is now gone. So, you know, if we have to get into a point where we have to make materials for a war effort, we're going to be limited to what we've got. And we may not even have the support industries that existed at one time. And even the source material that existed, like in the gear making file showing you how to make different types of pouches, how to cut out things so that you can do it for production, you know, for production. That's it. You know, that's it. Because I can't find any other sources because so much of that industry, you know, it was mom and pop businesses, but they're gone. Hundreds of small mom and pop gear makers are now gone. And like for what I saved and no files, Mark I didn't do a very good job saving because they had resource pages and like a damn fool I didn't save those resource pages. So right now I don't know if we had to go into an effort to start making our own gear. We would have trouble. It's basically what you're going to find off eBay or from individual small businesses. to be able to go out to a major supplier and buy say thousands of yards at a time. It may be hard to do because a lot of those businesses are either out of business or they only cater in such large vast numbers that you know it'd almost be impossible to buy. And I'm not even talking about maintaining very compliance, I'm just talking about having quality. And when it does happen, most of these childish brains that are in the men that are in their 20s or 30s or even 40s, it's going to be like bugs hitting the windshield. But what they'll do is they'll justify, as I've said a million times for 30 years on the air, they will justify their criminal action against all of us because they're special and their feces stinks and yours, you know, there's, there's yours does and that's the gamut with the system is set up for them the soccer mom mentality thing that we get came about we know where everybody wins nobody well there was no responsibility and there's no having to face reality and then do this is his rolled over into where we are right now all of these issues are going to compound and it would have been the door with the fine wave was not even a fine wave it's you know if you're looking at the graph chart there's going to be this spike And it's going to have several other, you know, not just spike up, but spike down in terms of everything from food to material resources, fuel, etc. Some of it's going to be extreme because a lot of idiots, dicks and dunderheads watching too much television are going to think that they can just walk over and monk their neighbor and steal what they want. animals are protected by the public pool so if they get away with it and certainly the media i mean what do you think the anti-felter and uh... black lives matter crap was all about for a year and a half and is going out right now you said another cook up here what the last uh... three four days we've had a whole series of them exactly like you know they were planned like in our goal that we've had the afghan thing and they turned out and all the sudden we're having the internal strike thing again But by the way, ignore the border. Actually, that's where there's such a divergent, there's such a split in so many ways in our country with regard to the population that there's, it's going to require application of force to fix it. Everybody is pretty on the same page. A lot of people out there are pretty cool with regard to letting you know if they have something unique or interesting. Under the table or around the corner that would be useful. Let's put it that way. And there are a lot of things out there useful laying around. Most important is get a drill press. Pick up the basic tools. Anything and everything like that. Okay? that you can run into in the way of hand tools and repair components, spares, replacement blades, anything. For instance, one of the kits I got this weekend was actually a patch and repair kit with spares for one of the basic drills that I kind of standardized on a long time ago. Not corded, not battery. and what's really cool extra heads uh... even brushes and a little bit everything and cost me a whopping dollar at a you know in the out of a dollar box and it's not the small amount of material but what you do with unique is again it's everything you need to keep the thing running for an indefinite period of time and that's kinda handy now had i got up to buy probably been a seventy eighty hundred dollar item as it is it was in a dollar box and that's the kind of stuff that if you pay attention and just mentally have an inventory ready no things you know you're pretty sure you're going to use uh... take the time plug into these uh... estate sales and any of the art sales you see on the road on the weekend especially you never know what the person does for a living you never know what it is that they're going to have uh... that is available uh... just sitting there that while it's exactly the way you know is looking for uh... especially when you're putting together tactical trailers armored trucks guys ask what might be fitting over by the garage i've done that many times and all you have stuff available to nobody all i forgot about that and lo and behold all kinds of things show up in places like that you know anything you can imagine and also like i said under the table well yeah we got a few things And under the table, it comes over the table and out to the vehicle and it's gone. And you all need to be thinking that way right now. Again, pennies you spend there means you have dollars, you know, other in other directions, but you've spent the equivalent for a few dollars or a handful of dollars. Your buying material would cost a paycheck. So just again, heads up, pay attention and you take advantage of the resources that are out there from another generation. Better technology, American made or made overseas but made with a much higher standard with regard to materials and again, fit and finish. The Chinese have fit and finish down as far as making it look correct, but they don't have the substance, they don't have the material down and they know it, they don't care. It creates the illusion that you're getting something that's useful. In reality, you know that it's a very short shelf life, short utility life. A shelf will sit there and stare at you forever. As a matter of fact, thank you, somebody else just popped in here. Again, everything from drill bits to saw blades. I'll give you an example. I just picked up for $5 at a sale, a saw blade kit. If you know anybody who was a tradesman traditionally, when you had the larger format, used to be your blades were treated as a cherished tool not as a castaway throwaway thing this is something I mentioned in the first hour. We used to re-sharpen them always guaranteed you weren't just going to use a blade until it got dull or tough to work and then chuck it out. Now I will say this I have saved a lot of blades and sub blades and they've been turned into knives tools you know cutting edges tomahawk heads you name it, or laminated using it as laminated metal, steel, carbon steel, and making other unique tools and implements of destruction out of them. So there's useful metal there, but the first choice would be to use it for what it was intended. So one of the other things to take into consideration is files. Guys, you're going to need a handful of files to get the job done, but amazingly enough, if you're willing to do what people used to do every day when they needed to, individually re-sharpening a saw blade is not as difficult as you might think. It's just temporarily tedious. And the better you get at, the more practice you have at it, the less time it takes to get the job done. You can plug it real quick, get it done over with, and you've got a useful tool that does another go around. These are all things you better get into your brain pan now. Not just buying the goodies, but how do you fix them or maintain the goodies? And you need to make kits. This is the other thing I've been doing is grabbing tool bags. I've been blessed for a little bit here. I've been getting like 50, 60, $80 tool bags for free. People throw them out left and right. And it's like, really? so the neat thing about that is with a lot of those bags is for instance uh... i've got ryobi drools that i'm picking up running into a lot of them uh... battery and and ported and so i've got a ryobi division right now i've also got black and becker okay uh... black and becker there's different eras i can't like the old pocket jump plastic yellow plastic you remember the yellow plastic ones that really yellow their kind of like a brown like a pan brown Up and down as far as quality, they were some of the first of the technically kind of oil last of the 70s throwaways that were really tough on parts, some of them. But they work. If they work, they work well. If they didn't, it was kind of like classic China sport. They didn't work hardly at all. But there's a lot of those out there because they're my era, okay? I usually get them for free or get them for something. They all get put into one pile. Why? Because when I hook up that drill press from cutting that one gun part, all the drills underneath that are the exact same drill. And all you do is declamp it, stick the other one right into the same pen mark fitting that you've already marked out and hash marked, line up the lines, torque her back down, test it once, and you'll find you're on. It's kind of like talking about buying spare rifle scopes. Now, that little single production piece, all it does is one drill hole, but it does it over and over and over and over and over and over again. And when that drill dies, it gets pulled off, it's going to be rebuilt. And another one goes in, it's already been built, all been oiled, it's already been cleaned, and it does the same job. Anyway, I heard a voice call or jump in there. Yeah, I was going to say before we get too far away from the files, that is something that you should covet severely. from the old production. I mean, I've seen some older ones rounded off because of use over the years. But the quality of file you get today, it's just not the same metal and it's not the same process. So if you run across any older files, it behooves you to get them. They'll last longer. Grab them all. Yeah. Well, that's what I've actually run into here is, again, a nice little, usually the guy was Tulin Dye. We're in Michigan. This is a rich, industrial base that's dying and all of the tools that the guys typically had in the crib, but a lot of cases the guys bought the machinery when the company switched out tooling. And guys, you will find drill presses, CNC machines, Bridgeport mills, drill presses, well, forgive me, lathes of every kind. Like I said, I went to a basement, there was both a lathe. a smithy uh... bench mill and uh... virtually walls and walls of tooling the center island with what i paid for the whole room two tools there cost more than what i paid for the whole world to tools and there were hundreds of them with the labels than the price tag still on them so it's it's make out their guys you just have to stay focused look to see what it is you can run into know what it is i ball it uh... fat file to all types of a decimal kind of files rakkale flat rasped up made of a sort of is all of it will be used and again files are actually a lot more sophisticated than everybody realizes have you ever thought about how a file is made drills are really just as bad and that you know again most people have offered role going twice jacket guys that drill rod Even the China Sport Drill Rod makes a hell of a cross pin for something. You don't like those guns you're building. If you were building from scratch those drill rod pieces that you snap it off and you got the lower shank which is all smooth and not knurled, not sharpened or edged, you do realize that pin right there is worth some money. Because that's what you're going to turn it into if you're smart. So, that's what you should ask Mark about the ones the last time you thought about. how files are made. It was just yesterday and it's on my list of things and I'm going to go out and study and figure out how it's done. Yeah, in fact if you look it's fascinating because there's a whole series of tools that a blacksmith had to make that were case hard and they had to, you know, harden their own tools. They have to make, in order to make the individual little stipple if you were going to do it in the traditional form. And the best example is any of the older four-sided rasps, each one of them. One side has one course cut, the other side opposite has the next smoother cut, and then you flip the handle around, you flip it around, the handle is actually the rasp. And you have two other layers, two other different levels of trim. So that progressively start out first with a coarse cut, then you're going to clean it up a bit as you go, you know, you're checking your spec and if you have a template you're using that, and then you have your finish or basically for lapping. And if you're in the older stuff, you're talking, you know, crude by comparison of stuff we're doing today. But there are several examples out there and you can physically see how they were stippled. how they made the cut which creates the burr which creates and has to be consistent by the way this is where we've talked about lapping or when you when you strike as opposed to hammer because guys you want to strike consistently so you create that line of burls that line of cuts that are going to do the stipple that's going to create that abrasive area and then you have to do another line and then you have to do another line blacksmith did not charge a small amount of money for a for a rasp profile and rasp your coarser typically doubt their date they can be of different course grades going to finish but when we talk about finish we're talking about working a coarser all left sophisticated object in a committee number of different things So including horsehoops, by the way, doing trimming, you know, cleaning on horsehoops or, you know, cattle livestock. Just something to think about. And again, so many different tools, so many different ideas. We haven't even touched hardly on most of them. But the basic machinery is out there and it's reasonable. I had a yard sale. I kicked myself in the arse. I don't know. I was so busy collecting the other goodies. There was a Miller single station pedestal mounted. uh... uh... planning to all the pointer are not in fancy but it's about five six hundred dollar tool machine and the guy had forty dollars on the kick myself in the product for use cost busy talk about somebody passed away and it kind of distracted me but also left uh... of another uh... dual grinder which was worth a whole hell of a lot more meal could even the choco the chinese chugga dunks over at uh... uh... harbor freight look what their their chair their costing this is an american-made dual head grinder for ten dollars you know counter-mounted grinder which i'll grab every one of those i can be each one of those those those cutting stations does a job and each one of the different job and if you're smart you set it up right down the road you go from station to station to station building so many parts of when you don't you don't build eight god you killed multiple god Why not? I mean it's and and and and and there we go. Drilled all those now. I got them in the in the finish box. Now I got to brush them up. There we go and on to step number two, part number two. So heads up guys, a lot of work to do and these are all priceless items that need to be on your list. And by the way, priceless time is priceless too. And we are at the top, 701. For everybody out there, it is Monday. And again, I cannot emphasize enough, you know, do what you can to accomplish what you can. Make a list, stick to it. Okay, don't complain if you don't make everything. In fact, overbook, so to speak. That way when the time comes, when you do make it all the way, you're really happy. How's that sound?
