In fact, talking to another person who's been on a hunt for two days to find certain tools in the system and strangely enough nothing more complicated than that i do want product well we've searched over michigan northern ohio all of indiana found an item in a copy of the item in chicago privately on nothing available in any store anywhere and then talked to a rep and they're saying that the soonest they might get all of the uh... system in or parts for the system will be october of this year this is the wall this is a top-line i mean very common line as matter of fact what little was in country has been absorbed in terms of the production is not the is not the only company in situations like that uh... we've been dealing with this now for the last uh... couple of uh... month ride but ordering parts for certain vehicles and we have a a lot of them we affect more than a few of us have a lot of them and once again try to order the parts today that i just ordered and got the last although it no order more week and a half ago finally the part came in well the other half of the parts came and came in uh... what was i think wednesday okay but what's interesting is in immediately turned around and i wanted to order more of the exact same parts today because i want more replacements i want to keep upgrading not only was the part missing that was the other half of the project you know not available but now all of the parts are not available so world apparently talking to the uh... provider which was back not to the warehouse that provides for this company but going back to the importer they're saying right now it's a catches catch can whatever they get here will see what happens or in this is going from automotive to machinery to you know when you go right down the shopping list as to a thriller things one in one case somebody screwed up so badly with i would have had a three or four thousand dollar purchase what i would have made uh... today would have been this morning and because they had no clue about the inventory and they just flat out said we can't even guarantee that we've got one let alone what you need and here's where we are and the first of all they barely knew anything about their products when they did finally figure out what was going on and they traced it back to the system and nothing not one item on the list or one example of what was a block of items uh... is available and they they don't have no they have no idea what they're going to get him again now on the other hand checking with one of the other suppliers for one of the other county malicious because that's what we're doing is you know some lining up with so many thousand pieces of equipment no matter what it is uh... they said that the soonest that the next replacement will be uh... is probably it's in containers and will be here within the next you know probably couple weeks or maybe a month but it is in the machine. Problem is, no guarantee about it getting through customs or the border or whatever, all the stuff going on the way to this. It has nothing to do with the illegal aliens. But parvit has to do with money, just with regard to the banking system also retarding everything intentionally. Now remember, they're trying to suck every last penny out of us, they can. But these companies, to have material to sell, they've got to get it moved. and right now that's just not happening the way it should so there's a lot of it different parts of the industry that are affected or are being affected which is another reason i pointed out example if you have well machinery of any kind if you get stuff if you get stuff for free take it if it's drill cutoff tools i just got a uh... milwaukee uh... battery-powered cut off sought today i got the guy bad doesn't isn't interested in the walkie cool thing is i just uh... not too long ago all these estate sales i ran into and got a bunch of uh... the chargers and battery packs for free well guess what the i just got one of the more significant tools for free from the other direction now i'm piling all the milwaukee up in one place doing all of the uh... black and decorate another doing all of the uh... makeda i've got a whole bunch of makeda all of try to keep that for myself because older and nobody's interested in it but uh... same thing i'm watching for the stuff that it's not involved but it works and works well enough and if you just keep pacing and parting these things together you're gonna end up with enough of an inventory that you can run for quite a long time but at least you have it and in whole categories of machinery right now equipment even in by the way also in cooling something where we've talked about here on the air call constantly during the week uh... right now with cooling they have no guarantee on anything there are the fact is the number one question mark talking to somebody who is the number one importer for a perk for one of the companies it's the place that everybody else uh... feed from and they just flat out said, well, just don't have it. No, we're talking, you know, the volume replacement items, the paring that goes into the chuck or into the fixture. and that's where that's what makes it run so i've told you before guys if you go to the state sales i have grabbed everything in the way of machinery that we possibly could most important is that we've been very blessed because i've been getting up with buckets of uh... of parts of the actually the perishable uh... it great because they have to take time to sort it everyday i have to sort so much somebody palms us up for about to get this stuff preserve because remember you still got to all the maintenance you've got to on these things But everybody pick a subject just like we're talking about the two-hour block with all the other things that can be done. You can get it for free and you can figure out a way to route and store the stuff just to get it in bulk, store half the battle right there. I think another thing, as I've said many times, you're going to have a real problem with clothing. This is just like I've been doing with a lot of other stuff. uh... most people are not ready for this most people totally do not have a clue you know what they're gonna have to pay for what we have there's another part of what we've talked about here that building an economy if you grow food your food is with his money it's currently okay so if you do a garden and you do a really good job and then deal start really producing remember that is cash in the hand that that is a a barter bull exchange tradeable item that can get you a whole lot of other things when the time comes, but it is seasonal. So here's another thing you need to be thinking about is how can I process the excess that I make in such a way that I can market it out through other parts of the season. Drawing is a really good one. uh... to be able to put more storage food on the shelf but you have to have a place or a way to put it in something it's got to be in a container needed to have consistency there if you're going to talk about bartering barter trade exchange remember uniform weight and measures are an issue and you gotta make sure again you we want to do is create a consistent measures system on the list of faith and use a scale and measure it based upon a whatever's in the container but if you can come up with a consistent and reliable packaging system that really is a double plus good thing for um... marketing purposes especially minimizing handling remember you want to be a look at something star process it store it and be done quick enough shortest process at all possible guys good call japaner and he is taught there are no You remember when I was talking to you about that Turner super sidekick desk mic that I bought? Yeah, go ahead. Yeah, well, it had the up and down buttons. I told you when I plugged it into my Galaxy DX2527, as soon as I plugged it in, the channels were going up. So I assumed that one of the up and down buttons was stuck and it was just going up. Well, I bought the same up and down buttons off eBay and I soldered them into place exactly how the original ones were soldered in. And I also put in a fresh 9 volt battery and it's a four pin mic. I plugged it into my Galaxy 2527. Lo and behold, the channels are still going up. so i'm scratching my head and i have i hate to have this happen because you know i spent probably eighty bucks on the mic it's good solid steel mic and uh... i just wanted to work with that up-and-down channels are working what would you suggest i do at this point well then it has to be the interpreter on the board at the other end of something there that's going on there gotta be a problem because it's past you if you've reviewed the only other consideration and i can't see that is something happening with the wiring but you know you if you've been paying attention and i doubt they dealt that you were ignoring things that everything is connected properly the next thing is it once again from that that that uh... plug to whatever it is it's receiving the signal there's an interpretation issue there uh... is there a doubt now again what what what what we we put it into a gap although here we do that It's a Galaxy 2527 and it's the same as like a Galaxy Saturn except it's the low-ottage version except it's got the robot voice and the talkback. That's why I bought it. So, and I bought this desk mic because I like the Turner super sidekick. It's modded basically Turner made the plus three after the super sidekick for the AM people but the super sidekick, the reason they call it the sidekick is because it's for single sideband. Hey dad, I hate to interrupt the color but one of the things you're gonna want to check is where it connects to the board, follow the leads and check all the solder points on the channel control nodes. There could be just a speck of solder that's crossed over especially with the mass produced stuff. They check one item and then they assume the rest are gonna be the same. If there was something off in the production of it, it could just have a dot of solder that's crossed over that matter could even be product i mean that create enough of a bridge that's true i mean i go right uh... right down from where the uh... we're even inside to the back of the uh... uh... female on the uh... are male or female on the uh... board and look at the internet something up in their causing a bridge could be everything including up in and up to including a uh... spider nest you know tiny spiders, tiny critters. It's amazing what is enough to, you know, the poor little bastard might even die there with his, you know, one half of him one way, one half the other. It would be a very good time. So, you guys think I'm getting my wires crossed somewhere with a piece of solder or the wires itself? I would say that since you've done all the work that you've done on the mic and there again you go through... Yeah, it's probably not the mic because you've re-soldered the mic yourself. I know when I do stuff like that I'm extremely careful, I'm sure you are too. And since it was doing it before you did the work, it's probably farther in the machine. Yeah, it's not bad to rebuild the microphone anyway. If I plug in my regular Ranger mic with the up and down buttons, I won't have this problem. Okay? So it's not the radio itself. It's the mic that's causing the channel to go up. Because if I unplug it and plug it in my regular hand mic, no problem. It stays consistent and I can go up and down from the mic. with the up and down buttons on the Ranger mic. Then I would get a copy of the schematic and make sure that it was wired right in the first place because you probably rewire it, put everything back the way it was, but it might have been wrong. It's possible. Again, we're doing a radio to non-image. I mean, I've seen the pictures. In fact, I've still got them. I've still got them on file. Well, the thing is, there's another Turner Super Sidekick mic on eBay. It's $99, and I'm considering buying it just to see if there's a difference between the two because if I go on eham.net or any of these other boards, there's no schematic for the modification that we're talking about. So this might have been just like a word of mouth between hams. And keep in mind, this night came out in 1971. I know it's been around a while. We were doing these mods back then and it must have just been word of mouth on ham radio. You know, you take this, you see where this is, okay, you solder this, you cut this, and then you solder into that. I don't know if the mic worked from the beginning in the first place. It might have been just a project and the guy said, screw it, and then put it aside and then bought something else and then he died off and then they put it in a state sale and I assumed, since it was on eBay and it already had the mod done, that it would work properly. Well, the other thing to remember too, when you're getting something, it may not have, it's not that it wasn't finished, it's that The instructions and available information, which typically would have been printed out, may be in one place and gone. You know, so there might have been a modification or whatever, and even the blueprint or the schematic might have been available. I've got an antenna here that fortunately I pulled off a piece of property last year, and I just happened to, I would never throw paper away. Papers came out of the shop. Lo and behold, I couldn't find the instructions for the one and it was ticed over into another, it was totally different room, down the basement, another part of the house. But I saved everything from that room for that reason, went through all the paperwork and found all the information on the antenna and found out that I wasn't putting the assembly together, right? They didn't have the arrestor and the oil cylinder and the proper readers, only so many pieces to the antenna. that's one of the things where it's probably it would be a but out there what time it just never got over to the computer age never can put sideways over the internet and that's what i'm thinking you know yeah and it's that we're coming well it remember most of the stuff was custom i mean we were a little custom bill we talk about that guys remember there's one guy that became it became his match and a lot of guys with cb when they got a name it's just like all of the famous true guns right now People will send their equipment all the way across the country to have that guy do that work and send it back I don't care what you do Bob's got one of those and I want to have that and so the guy doesn't have to reveal trade secrets design features or anything everybody just shot the equipment over to the guy and He sent it back and it worked and or at least work for you know, whatever period of time remember that you know, what up it was a durable fix who knows I heard another voice jump in there caller go ahead Well Mark, advice for the caller with the microphone. Not all plugs are wired the same even though they look the same and can plug into another radio. The problem is if you do any testing like that, make sure your plug outs are the same. If some microphones, if you plug them into the wrong radio, it will immediately start transmitting. And if the radio is not hooked up to an antenna or a dumb load, you will burn out the finals before you can figure out what's happening and shut it off. radio faster and you turned it on. Okay, let me say this okay, the galaxy most of their radios in fact all of them I'm sure the galaxy and the Saturn and the RCIs and the Eagle 2000s and the Eagle 5000s they're all wired with a six pin mic. So what I'm doing is I am putting in a conversion from six to four pin and I'm assuming it will work. So Is it possible that the reason it's not working is because of the conversion itself? Because I just assumed that I can work from a 6 pin to a 4 pin would work on a mic. Yes, and you don't know what the plugs are. Going from a 6 pin to a 4 pin, you're going to lose some features. One feature you will lose is probably the channel up and down. Okay. That's what you're going to lose. Which is the same as Cobra and a lot of UNIDENs. If you open a Cobra radio, they have UNIDEN on the board. They're all wired the same. I have Galaxy radios that are 4-pin. They're wired the same as a Cobra. Pin number 1, 1-2-3-4 like that. One is transit. One is receive. Another one is transit receive. I don't remember. OK. So, ground. Yeah, microphone audio. Maybe I should just get a regular turner desk mic with a 4 pin that does not have the channel up and down and then try to plug that into the conversion 4 pin to 6 pin. Do you think that would solve the problem? I would just take the plug off that turner super sidekick and put a 4 pin plug on it with the proper pin out of what your radio needs. Audio response, transmit and drown. Okay. As a matter of fact, there's a couple different companies. Well, there are shops all over the place. I was going to say, for test and evaluation, remember, if you're curious, be shop, see what the guy has laying around, the way of stuff for sale. Take your rig in and see, again, tell him you just want to try and test out the mic with your rig and pretty well, he can set everything up there. Yeah, I'm going to have to do that. Go ahead. As far as like in town right here in Orlando, there's like one guy that has a shop. It's called Radcom. And I'm sorry, I went in and I brought the mic to him. He didn't know. I mean, because he's plugging it into stuff like a, you know, like a regular CB. Right. And, you know, the problem is with regular CBs is a lot of them They're not digital. They have a digital readout, but they have an analog board. And the channel up and down is not going to work anyway. So I'm going to have to take my whole unit in with the conversion, the 6-pin to 4-pin, and ask him what's going on. So great. I'm looking to see if there's any other solutions that I've got sitting here because we've got a bunch of old manuals that I've got in the, you know, over here in the file. But it don't make anything jumping off right off the bat that I can it'll do us any good. Go ahead. I heard another voice call or jump in there, please. Hey, Will from Florida quick question. The only radio technology I have and I picked it up at a yard sale. So I'm in a really well to the flea market. Don't really know how well it works. It's a little handheld. See me. Um, so I was going to ask is, uh, I know that militia standard from what I've seen in a lot of the newer units, especially is UHF VHF and they use the biofangs. What simple 20, 30, maybe $40 radio would you recommend? To get into the VHF, UHF, into, well, I'll tell you what, hold on. What would you recommend? Well, actually, the little bit of fun, they're the best choice right now, price-wise. For what you're dealing with, there are a couple, as I mentioned before, who would we go to give an example, go to DX.com, DX.com, deal extreme. I don't know what they've got left. They may not be as expanded in the inventory as they wish. Either one. If you go to the inventory that they have, you'll notice that there are a number of radios in every element of the bandwidth that is regulated. And there are examples of, you know, instead of the Bao Feng, it's the Changua.
