The warning applies to ham radio operators and users of services like Citizen's Band Family Radio Service, walkie talkies, and general mobile radio service. Specifically, amateur licensees, it's pointed at us here, specifically amateur licensees are reminded they are prohibited from transmitting communications intended to facilitate criminal acts as well as messages encoded for the purpose of obscuring their meaning. Uses of personal radio services like CB are prohibited from using them in connection with any activity that is against federal, state, or local laws. And that's dated January 17th, 2020. How bizarre is that? That on a Sunday, The FCC would issue out a notice to ham radio operators saying, don't use your radio equipment to commit crimes. I have no idea what this is really about. ARRL, of course, then followed with their own bulletin to members. I don't know. Last paragraph of the ARRL email that I received. Amateur radio is about development of communications in responsible public service. Its misuse is inconsistent with its history of service and its statutory charter. ARRL does not support its misuse for purposes inconsistent with these values and purposes. The last sentence is so poorly written that it's almost crazy. And ARRL, what is your logo?
