A 57-year-old Washington state man is screaming foul after state and federal authorities barged into his home, detained him, and seized two legally owned rifles and a .25 caliber pistol under the auspices of controversial red flag laws, which allow police to confiscate firearms from law-abiding citizens who have, in many cases, committed no crimes. The confiscations are often based on flimsy evidence and spurious allegations. James Randall, an Everett, Washington resident with no criminal history, said he was awoken on Sunday, this week ago Sunday at 3 a.m., once an Ahomish County Sheriff's deputies and agents from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms smashed down his front door with a battering ram. They held him at gunpoint while foraging his home for weapons. Law enforcement served him with the United States District Court search warrant in which a Sonohumish County judge, the dishonorable Michael P. Ornstein, authorized the search of his premises and the confiscation of any firearms found therein. The contents of the warrant stated that James was psychologically incompetent of owning a weapon and that him doing so presented a clear and present danger to both himself and his community. Mr. Randall's woes first began in early July. He had participated in an open carry march, which is legal in Washington and does not require special permits, and was detained briefly by a state trooper that demanded he identify himself and surrender his weapon for inspection. Mr. Randall said he tried to de-escalate the situation by fully complying with the trooper's request. The officer interrogated Randall and returned his weapon. But that was not his final encounter with law enforcement. According Mr. Randall, a month later to the day, I was found asleep in the middle of the night when I heard a loud crash. My front door, heavy oak, came flying off its hinges and splintered everywhere. Three deputies in tactical gear and an ATS guy stormed into my bedroom, shouting at me about my guns. They dropped the warrant on me, grabbed my guns and left, Mr. Randall said. He received in the mail a certified letter explaining why the police took his weapons. Between January and March of 2008, his physician had prescribed him Prozac, a common antidepressant, following the death of his wife of 20 years. Apparently law enforcement had obtained his medical records and a list of every medication he had ingested in the last 20 years, and used that information as ammunition to secure a red flag warrant against him. The controversial laws have gained political traction as well as presidential support in the wake of recent mass shootings in Dayton and El Paso. Opponents claim red flag laws currently enforced in 17 states have been written with the implicit intent of eroding the Second Amendment to bring the United States to parity with other Western nations that have enacted sweeping gun grab programs. At a White House press briefing following the El Paso massacre, President Trump urged lawmakers in the remaining non-red flag states to immediately draft stricter gun legislation or let the federal government do it for them. Mr. Randall said he believes authorities are using a patient's medical histories as an excuse to confiscate firearms and are specifically targeting outspoken proponents of Second Amendment rights. I'm not a criminal. I don't have, have never had any psychological impairments. I've been a responsible firearms owner since I was old enough to pull a trigger. I hear one in six Americans have taken antidepressants for whatever reason, and that is an alarm, that is one in 61 million people. And I bet a lot of those have guns. What happened to me can happen to every one of them, Mr. Randall warned. He said he intends to sue this Nahomish County Sheriff's Department and Judge Ornstein for violating his Second and Fourth Amendment rights. He is also considering litigation against his physician, whom he says breached doctor-patient confidentiality and guidelines established in the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act HIPAA. I recommend if you're going to do that to do it with either, preferably with two by six. Make a hinged two by six wall. One other thing, remember, make the wall itself out of more two by sixes or two by tens or two by eights from left to right horizontally. In other words, parallel with the ground. And make the door very sturdy that way. In fact, it really isn't a door. The other thing, You want the door to fold in the opposite direction of the way that the door normally folds to open. If the hinge for the door that is the outside door is on the right, your hinge for your foldable wall should be on the left. Now you can do all kinds of things to cosmetically make this thing look really pretty. Okay, there are many different options but right now price-wise the NATO military surplus flak vest used or flak stab vest used are running about 63 to 69 dollars. Actually hold on here that one might be cheaper still again there's a little bit of a cut on this one. Again, they are also in big sizes. Most important is that you can actually get them in large sizes. Big, big, big. Extra, extra large. The NATO military flak stab vests are $63 and they are, again, reasonably priced and they have a number of different options with regard to configuration. Now, if you go with a threat level steel plate underneath this, you are very well protected or covered from a big chunk of what's coming at you. Remember, if it hits that steel plate, it may not be, or it could be a glazer, and it's going to scuttle on, and maybe as it clefts in, it kind of snags you in other places. Kind of nice if most of that energy was down when the point hits a plate, and then the armor does the rest of the job to keep everything from getting to the soft chewiness, which is you on the inside. Okay? Just something to think about, just in case. Would be a good idea. In the British armor, there is a mix. They do have, of course, also the plate would play carrier US police surplus carrier vest with plates used $144. And again, that's with plates. So there's a plate system for $143 with vest carrier. And then on top of that, you pick up the $63 utility NATO anti-stab vest with the throat protection, shoulder protection, and side panels. And now you're quite a bit more of an armadillo than you were before. So just a little heads up on that. If you're looking for a berry gun. See, this is one of the things that we're thinking about is people are looking for cash weapons. If you're going to bury weapons around, you want to try and find the most affordable but best for compatibility in parts, pieces and ammunition, magazines, etc. Well, there's a pile of AR-15s out there and this is $350 making this one of the most affordable guns to put into a cash tube or into a retreat and be able to leave one, two, three, five of these, ten of these on the rack, rent or dispersed to ten different locations. You don't have to go back to point A because you've got point J or point Delta. You've got D, E, F, G, H. So you have any number of different points. Depending on how it is that you got away from the problem or you're in confrontation, you'd be able to make it to a cache and have the proper weapon that you are familiar with. Magazines, ammunition, basic support technology, medical support, which should always be incorporated with caches, because chances are the reason you're going to that cache is that you probably were attacked and caught unawares and you are wounded. If you are wounded or injured, you need to deal with your medical needs, understand that if they're willing to do what they're doing, it's the red terror. They're planning on murdering you anyway or they're going to follow up with trying to. The idea is tag their it, you know, get them first. Now because of that you need to make sure that A, you can square yourself away, clean yourself up, make sure that you've got all the basic gear. Calories and food content need to be concentrated foodstuffs. Freeze drive is great because it doesn't take up much weight. It will store indefinitely. And again, you can engineer your food storage, you know, what little food cash you're going to put with this, so it will all fit into that nice, neat little inexpensive military backpack you've rolled up into the tube with everything else. Your basic light combat gear, minimal, but enough to support however many mags you have in there should also be part of it. Guys, if you go over to Sportsman's Guide, you can find some really cheap mill surplus or in any number of different places, colmans.com, copesdistributing.com, apexgunparts.com even, there's mags, there's all the accoutrements that you need, dollar tree for the food stuffs and things, some of the stuff you want to put into the tube or into the cache. Don't forget, wherever you put a cache, watch for shovels that people are getting rid of. leave it somewhere nearby. In fact, even if you had a wooden handle, and it'll save years down the road you went there, the metal shovel handle will still be there and you can make it work. Digging with your hands is embarrassing. Okay? Kind of tough. But even just a shovel head, even if the handle's dead, the shovel head itself, you may have to go a little slower, but you can keep chugging away and you can undig whatever you've buried and you're able to access it. But you need to deploy the tools that you will need nearby in such a way that they're out of sight, out of mind, but they can be pulled upon immediately. They need to be in close proximity to wherever it is that you have the cash. Again, watch for stuff at resale shops. You don't have to go out and buy brand new. Coat everything with 20, 30 coats of paint, urethane, whatever you want to do. Make sure that it then is put out of the weather, put up out of sight, out of mind, and however you want to do that. But you need tools at every site because you want to be able to recover the material without making too much of an impression, having to go out and take from somebody else, expose yourself where you don't need to, etc., etc., etc. Prior proper planning prevents piss poor performance. And whenever you can put a bullet in them, however you want to put a bullet in them, you're going to choose your time, your place, so it's at your advantage, and you're always grossly advantaged over them. They're sitting on the toilet, kick the door in, ban it, and three or four times of that star shell bayonet. Strip them there. Well strip them the rest of the way. It's gonna be a little stinky, but take whatever else is around Take your pick about how it is you deal with a problem, but remember you need the tools in the toolbox So there are a number of options out there 762 by 39 is still plentiful and available 556 is plentiful plentiful and available hell for that matter. So it's 12 gauge shotgun shell, but that's you know again Personal flavor choice, whatever floats your boat and fits the solutions you need for the moment. We're looking for an economical solution. Best price, least cost in terms of, you know, individual expense. That also means I can put more things underground. If I get things for a better price, I can put more things underground.
