Now the next appeal nostalgia that refers to how things are done in the past and that appeal can be used to encourage or discourage a particular behavior. On a positive light, it refers to the good old days and encourages the target audience to behave in a manner that is going to return to those. Now, in the negative, it points out how things were bad in the past and how a change in behavior is going to avoid a repeat of those themes. Clearly see that by the Democrat and, you know, now they're talking about for slavery and that's an example of how they're going to use the nostalgia appeal in the negative because that was those evil people and slavery and etc etc and we don't want to go back to that type of the next appeal would be the self to the warmth and desires of the individual and target audience of appeal that the appointment target audience's vulnerability for acquisition. The techniques, methods used to present the information as sometimes referred to as the sub-arguments. Effective techniques are going to be based on the condition affecting the target audience and the type of information being presented. Some of the techniques, littering generalities, and these are intense, emotionally appealing words, closely associated with value concept and beliefs that appeals are convincing without being supported by fact or reason and appeals are directed towards such emotions as love of country and home, a desire for peace, freedom, glory and honor. Now, the next technique of evils and that technique acknowledges The force of action being taken is perhaps undesirable, but it also emphasizes that any other force of action results condition. You know, vote for that candidate. We're both in a closet, but this one's less than the name calling, the ad hominem attack. Prejudices in an audience, an object of the propaganda, has something that the target audience fears, loaves, undesirable. You know, the white anatomy poses the prejudice in the audience. The next technique would be the plain folk or the common man attempts to convince the audience that the position noted in the line of persuasion is actually the same as that of the target audience. And that technique is designed to win the confidence of the audience by communicating in the usual manner and style of the audience. The communicators use ordinary language mannerisms and close and face to face in other audio visual communications or when they attempt to identify their point of view with that of the average person. People make YouTube videos, drinking a beer in there. The next one would be the testimonials. The testimonials or quotations in and out of the other side of the support or reject a given policy, action, or reputation or the role of the individual giving the statement is going to be exploited. There can be different types of testimonial authority of testimonials using endorsements or the approval of people in authority or well-known in a particular field. personal sources of testimonial may include hostile leaders, fellow soldiers, opposing leaders, and famous scholars, writers, popular heroes, personalities. I don't know what they're doing about this college library scandal. There's a lot of cases and personalities of the kids might be going to Yale, but mom and dad are going to jail. Now, the next one would be the insinuation. Now that's used to create or increase a target audience suspicion of ideas, groups, or individuals. And that's used as a means of dividing the adversary's culture in just eyes. But the audience draws its own conclusion, presenting the other side a next step. Because some people in the target audience believe that neither of the belligerent is entirely virtue propaganda messages expressed of the right and wrong may not be credible. Agreements with the minor aspect of the enemy's point of view, as the criticism is simply part of the technique, that the facts are reduced to either right or wrong or good and evil. And the technique provides simple solutions for problems, offers a simplified interpretation of the event, ideas, concepts, or personalities. The next one would contrast where we have two or more ideas, issues, or choices are compared. For instance, between them are going to be explained. Technique is effective if the target audience has a needs conflict that must be resolved. The next technique is to compare for similarities more ideas, issues, or objects. try and liken one to the other. And that technique tries to show that the desired behavior or attitude is similar to the one that has already been accepted by the target audience. Because the illustrations and the narratives, illustration is going to be a detailed example of the idea being presented. General ideas easier to comprehend. Some people, you know, communicate different people or we say, well, it's just a subject that we're teaching a complex of about how the heart... Some people have kind of nowhere where in the anatomy and physiology the heart is, but they not really study it in depth. But sometimes we can make a fusion illustration or a narrative or an analogy where if we view the cardiovascular system and the cardiopulmonary liken it to something that we can weigh. The heart is a complex oftentimes that, oh, somebody's having a heart attack and it's associated with one aspect of how the heart, yes, it's regulated by the cranial nerve, the vagus nerve, because the brain is receiving the different parts of the body has to do with the triter flight or blood pressure. the regulation of that, so is the only muscle in the body that can generate an impulse on its own. A center one important and sometimes people some pieces but without really quite understanding what's going on because the complex nature of the issue all the input and coronary artery, the right coronary artery and the circumflex cardiac tissue the blood from the top and the bottom part of the body come in to the venic cava, the actual heart muscle. And so we have a problem where somebody's starting to, from, say, thought that if, well, if we heat the person up because they're old, then that's going to help in the output of what's going on. Clearly, if everything else is fine, the nutrient, the oxygen, the heart, the lungs, kidneys, the liver, the blood vessels, etc. are working fine. But sometimes, depending on the type of shock that the person is suffering from, the water up in the swimming pool, if somebody is, when they've lost a large amount of blood and they're starting to go into heating the water up, you will, really not going to accomplish, it would be like, okay, so ground squirrel, a gopher, or something that's glued on one of your pipes leading to or from the swimming pool and without stopping the water that's leaking out of the pipes by heating the water up in the swimming pool is not going to expand volume in the central venous pool. Or likewise if a ground squirrel or a gopher or something like that through one of your electrical wires your nerve caused a short end so there's no else electricity, not going to have that pump working that's going to circulate the water. And that's kind of a narrative of sometimes when I try to get people, when we get into the medical aspect of all over here, can perceive talk about things in the heart and the central venous pool and etc. on how that can be, like we say, or the narrative and that can be a detailed example of the idea that's being presented and then I can take that and make that an example an abstract for the general ideas easier to comprehend. Say thanks for taking the time to tune in today. Thinking about some of these abstract techniques on how we can see it on a TV or hear it on a radio with advertising and during contrast. Those are going to the most of the hacker that you have on your computer. Because they have a certain authority, you have to be clear enough to show the target audience why they are relevant. And in most cases, it's best to keep this statistical evidence simple and short so that the target audience can easily absorb it. The technique of X, because they're used when a or idea is unfamiliar to a target audience. So a line of persuasion that addresses more than one need is gonna likely be more persuasive to a target audience. And each need or vulnerability, they have to have a line of, you know, at that the analysts really need to worry about how effective the line of persuasion is. It's gonna be determined, and persuasion has been established for the target audience, the four elements of the main argument, the supporting argument, the appeal and the technique. The PSYOP identifies the corresponding symbols developing our target audience on what's going to appeal, change, or maintain, modify their behavior. Symbols are a visual or a short textual audio or audio visual means and that's used to convey, reinforce, or enhance persuasion. And to be effective, the symbols must be recognizable, meaningful, and relevant to the target audience. And then each line of persuasion is going to have its own symbols to be useful. They have to meet three criteria. One is the symbols must be recognizable by the target audience. Marketers and advertisers spend millions of dollars and great time and effort developing, designing, familiarizing their target audience with the symbols, some refer to as logos, that are going to help convey their message. The PSYOP person have the time, manpower, or funding to create new symbols for their messages. You should always strive to use symbols that are recognizable to the target audience. The new symbol is created to use something closely related to a symbol that is familiar to the target audience. the symbols must have a meaning for the target audience. Because without meaning, the symbol will not carry the message. Once the target audience recognizes the symbols, they must easily be able to discern its meaning. The symbols must be the line of person. And even if the target audience recognizes the symbols and they have meaning for them, the symbols must be appropriate for the persuasion of high-op developers particular attention to the use of symbols, target audience, and additionally, a bit of religious symbols like offended target audience if it's used by outsiders, and an option may be the subtle use of symbols, for example, in a poster example, talking about overuse. I know there was a role band called the Eagles, and while the band broke up and then they got back together and then they came up with this song Hotel California. Now the song in and of itself is not that bad but sometimes you couldn't see the radio or without hearing that song and we reached I guess you could call it saturation point where it was like I hear that song once more I'm changing stations. And then finally the break point came where I heard the song coming on and guess what was playing on another and so then therefore I turned the radio off because I really didn't want to hear that anymore about the lines of persuasions and symbols or whether it's a symbol or a song and this and that all those parts but it just goes to the point of about overplaying deals that leads us to the next psi-op and evaluate each line of persuasion on its ability to influence the target audience to achieve the desired behavior. And as with any argument, the different lines of persuasion are going to influence people to a different degree. The ratings, they're going to identify which line of persuasion is going to have the greatest influence the target audience and why. And the SIOP to use the susceptibility ratings to choose between the various lines of persuasion that are being developed, target audience analysis, and the degree that the target audience can be influenced to respond in a manner that's going to help accomplish your psychological operations mission, or simply put, how well a vulnerability can be manipulated stronger the vulnerabilities the more susceptible the target audience is going to be to the line of persuasion that exploits it. Scale of one to ten example, the entities of the initial entry training, the IET soldiers, to follow our all army rules and regulations during the year 2001. Following some possible lines of persuasion, and as the lines of persuasion receive a different ratings. Now one is the duty of a soldier to follow all rules and regulations and rating five persuasion is not rated very high because of an audience that develop a strong sense of pride in belonging to the army yet and that is their belief that the rest of the army perceives them as fairly trainees or children. Two, a rules and regulation results in punishment under the UCMJ. And that's a rating of 6. That line of persuasion rates a little higher because they know the rules have changed from their civilian life and they are now more accountable for their actions. But they have also seen soldiers who have violated the rules that have not been punished severely. So in other words, they can be punished, but it's no big deal. Number 3 is So the rules are rewarded with increased privilege, and students have been separated from all those things to remind them of their life before the military to enclose radio, CD players, and access the TV. They are under a constant supervision by the cadre and have no decision-making authority, and they have been promised passes and access to their personal belongings if the rules with persuasion vary the conditions and vulnerabilities change so does the target audience to set a particular line of persuasion. They were playing. Do they most frequently receive messages in the form of spots or documentaries? And what's the link to the spot talk shows or the documentaries? What are the formats of the radio stations they listen to, whether it could be news or entertainment? Number two, are the newspapers they receive all black and white? Or do those in ads? receive information through articles, editorials, ads, or all? These are the ads, one order, one half, or full pages. And do they use in third is how does the target audience receive information through TV? What's the most prevalent format? Ads, documentaries, comedy, or other programs? What is the normal link of each type? In the media analysis, determine the current media patterns and the uses affect the best media from those that the target audience receives. And the two primary methods of determined media are reach and frequency. Now reach is the total number of target audience members receive the medium at least once during a given period. Most marketers and advertisers use a four-week period and any time period can be used. However, assistance for all media and for the PSYOP and pick a standard and use it for all forms of the media being evaluated. So then we can give them a bypass or not even worry about trying to get back onto the freeway, etcetera, etcetera. You get the idea. Now, step five, that's going to evaluate whether the target audience accesses the medium individually, or the media of others is going to affect the perception of the message. Now, some material may be seen as inappropriate for young children, and parents may not want to hear certain messages in their presence. This is all just this fun loving group who misunderstood and anti-Semitism and the, oh, and then we have all the what's happened before and oh the the emotional side the in-group the out-group this pain and a multiple the medium the Just the use of certain words is going to conjure up in one's mind and then after it's also I noticed that in addition to that the news media story crowds out and so we get this Jesse Smollett, now they were all over it like white on rice, not that long ago.
