Well, in 1929, everybody found out in the fall just exactly how the system shut down. And I will say this growing up, I was my grandpa's garden. Of course, grandpa's going near the garden. Don't get into the garden. It was lush. It was, I think, because of, you know, serious, you know, once you remember that, you get real good at what you're going to do if you want to continue to eat. But he always had some of the most phenomenal production gardens that I've ever seen. And to this day, whenever I mention that, I can just picture what plot that he put together every year and then the other extended plots that he'd do for his side, you know, like all of the different pumpkins and squash, which he would do dozens of or a hundred of, depending on what year and how he fell. But they were lush right from the beginning and then through the season and he was meticulous about maintaining them. Now, there's all kinds of technology that is a lot more user friendly for self maintenance. Take advantage of these ideas. Try and experiment with more than one. Don't just do one. Do a couple different ones. You got a little bit of space on your property. You got some land or you got to act wherever you rent. Mind you, gardening and making the place look green. Some grape vines, plants. There's some really phenomenal. There's one actually I now have seen, I've never seen them until this last weekend. Scratch, they're relatively small. They're starting to, It's gonna take a while before they're the size of the berry bush trees. But guys, we're talking a berry bush. Instead of a tree, it doesn't matter when they get older like this one. But I've seen one now. And it has the same production as a regular cherry tree, but it's all at ground level. It's a cherry bush. It produces basically a more cherry, like Michigan sour cherry, like we do here, freeform. But they do also have a sweet variety for making pies and for doing canning and all cellies. Oh man. So again, you plant it, you keep it alive, you keep it going, and you continue to compound the amount of food stuffs out there that we can draw. Another thing, know what it is that you can eat out there. People will starve with massive amounts of food laying around them. You know, you can leave the carrots in the ground for the winter and harvest them through the winter out of the, you know, like you know, you could do the same thing. All you do is get a little bit of sprinkulation. You mark out so you know where your patch of radishes or root rutabagas or turnip, brush away the snow and move the hay. Leave the rest right where they are. You did know that, right? I don't have any place to store you. You already have a garden, right? If you grow the right food. And that's really what we're concerned with. Remember, food is And right now the Israeli skanks and the Saudi Arabian skanks are starving many people to death right now together as a group. Women, children, men. They're right now murdering by inches. In fact, some of them are already too far around the corner. They will never fully recover from the level of starvation that they're at now. It's a left guess what you can get one of these Stewart Stevens for probably I would say half as much again and you get more usable vehicle for the price. Now these are actually relatively new vehicles and why they're getting rid of them makes no sense whatsoever. The Humvees are no different. Oh I wish there's a Humvee available in California starting bid is $3,500 but you've got to wait a little bit before you bid on that one. I mean they all go stupid to the point where it's like y'all not my interest. However a bunch of other vehicles that are in the right now that seem to be popping up with regularity and this includes the GammaGoat, the M35 trucks which were a lot of parts issues. I would assume that the reason to get rid of all these stewards right now is because is there a problem with them? I mean we got deuce and haves that have been in service for 40 years. These trucks that we're talking about are 2007-2008. Why are they getting rid of fleet trucks that are spring chickens by comparison? to other pieces of equipment that we have in the system that have been around for 40 and 50 years. 35s in service right now. Somebody just asked me a little, you know, why buy freeze dried food in the first place? Because we do have all the other stuff. You just said, Mark said you can grow food. Yes. Well, that's true. We are funny on growing food. In fact, I'm growing food right now. Even as we speak, I've got stuff that's in the greenhouse. that has held over from last year an interesting experiment that turned out to be teaching me a few things about some of our heartier plants. There's some stuff that we started up in, the coldest, deeper element we've had. The neat thing about the greenhouses is that even if you don't eat them during the day, like right now, you're talking shirt sleeve weather inside the type that we build, which of course any of the greenhouses, this will work. One of the fascinating things is that the root vegetables I mentioned will continue to produce all through the season and kept in a greenhouse in, for instance, dirt. Pretty much the same as if you were buying them off the store shelf. They're pressure and tastier, okay? They aren't going to be nitrogen stored. A lot of your stuff is in a nitrogen environment. Apples and any other fruits that are stored. The warehouse has a nitrogen saturation system that will reduce the oxygen from creating decay. There's all kinds of tricks that are used in the trade. They're simple, straightforward. The refrigerator does help, but it's even better when you can change the environment with regard to the air. It's not harmful for you or me. But fresh is fresh. When you pick something fresh, it's just that simple. That is the way to go. With regard to freeze drive, there are tiers of food storage and for different reasons. Number one, as my family was growing up and I was in the military, And the MREs came into play. The MREs originally had freeze-dried food in them. The soldiers were pissing at, you know, stung nuts when it came to new food. Because every time we'd go on the field, especially when it was, you know, large groups of people, we would have guys throwing away all of their freeze-dried stuff. Now that was the most expensive component of the MRE, and your tax dollars paid for that. But because of that, what I eventually just started doing is I put a box, I just told, hey, and you don't want that? I'll take it. You don't want that? I'll take it. I was just doing that when I was, you know, running around in the backwoods the same way. Oh, you don't like the ... not about 56 day out. I'm eating better than everybody else because they were, initially they were finicky. Now, by the way, they carried all that food. Those were cans. That was weight. Somebody else carried it and they didn't want it. But then about day five, they're like, I'm hungry, you're getting up to eat. Anybody got, it's like, well, you gave me this earlier, I'm not carrying it now for you, I'm carrying it now for me. The same 24 hours in the day and everybody had the same green backpack, okay, actually the green fanny pack, you know, the type that you set everywhere you can imagine. I was in there with, like, lime of beans and ham, a lot of people hated that. It's like, man, that's it, again, turn research I've done. Greencore got more of it than we do as far as the lime of beans and ham. Well, that's canned goods, okay? Oh man, I want to be Billy Bad Bud I'm eating lerps. Long range reconnaissance patrol rations. Well those are freeze dried food. And that's where a lot of people got to or at least understood how freeze dried food works. My favorite or my most common when I got dumped on the over home and over again was potato slices with basically burger chunks. Gave burger chunks all through it. Two people or easily could feed two people and we almost always have to anything we're ever supposed to. At the time we starved so we learned not to count on the Air Force and we only gave them a percentage of our food to drop. and we carried as much as we could stuff. Anything we could put anywhere we could, we carried. You learn that real quick. Nobody else but you. But the other stuff shows. But the freeze dried, the big advantage is weight to volume and nutritional factor. Also again, one of the things with my munchkins and everybody growing up is I wanted to put 72 hour kits, well they were far more than 72 hour kits, evacuation kits together for the munchkins. I prioritized freeze dried stuff I was getting for free from the government. Crackers, peanut butter, cheese, crackers, those are the staple that stick to your belly and keep you full. It helps to do the same thing but you get all the nutrients and the kids are most likely to eat the beef patties, the pork patties, the potato patties, the freeze-dried fruits. The thing is that for the volume they carry, we're looking at one quarter the combat weight which means you can carry more food and you're still carrying the water that you need and water purification or whatever. But you do know that at the very least if they rip what was inside. So psychologically it was a good choice wasn't candy but it was just as good that it would entice and motivate and yum yum yum the heat. The crackers and peanut butter and the crackers and and the peanut butter and jelly or the crackers and cheese because you get both pouches. I'd stuff those in there. Again that's bulk, staple and easy. Actually peanut butter cheese and the jelly. The jelly is extravagant because you can put the peanut butter or cheese in there and you get that much more food. Okay but you took jelly along to change stuff up. Came out of the MRE pouch, all the MRE packs. With freeze dried, again, long-term storage is one of the big advantages and it's good for a lot longer than they're claiming. Oh, this is good for three or five years? No, it's good for a lot longer than that. In fact, properly, especially now since a lot of your freeze dried stuff is coming in the kitty litter buckets. You notice that? They're the storage slash kitty litter. I was doing that before they were doing that with kitty litter buckets. The package system, the kitty litter buckets have a little flat lid. goes in there as long as you don't put any strange stuff in there like you're getting rid of your trash. No don't do that. When you pour out the giddy litter you got yourself a container. You already paid money for it. Don't throw it away. Use it. Freeze-dried food, a great way to have a prepast so many days or weeks worth of combination of it in the kit. A little under five gallon pail. The freeze-dried stuff is great for that. It's protected so it doesn't get crushed. It doesn't turn to mush when you Rehydrate it, you're not going to have a bunch of chippy chunky flat mushy stuff in there. Because when you rehydrate it, whatever it looks like when you put it in, how it's going to look when it gets rehydrated. I mean as far as how it would look when they made it, when you rehydrate it, that's what you get. So the freeze dried foods are the picky types who would think that somehow we should be five star dining in the field. Well okay, the foods again are very shelf stable, lightweight so you're not carrying as much, but you get more for the weight you carry. And for you older people or for the very young, especially that's critical. Because you need to make sure that you've got the nutrients, the calories, the amino acids, everything else. Well, you've got meat, you've got all the other vegetables, etc., etc., going in with the freeze-dried personal flavor choices. Yours. You pick what it is you want to eat. is that a combined arms team of food like that is not a bad deal. Fresh food that you produce, you make me have dried, I do dried apples, we do dried everything. Whatever it is we have excess of, it goes into the food dryers whenever possible. I moved a ton of MREs yesterday. It's got dropped off, I just moved a ton of MREs yesterday. Is it my first choice? No, it's just one of many choices. And I diversify. I'm true. We've got to be sure that we have a mix. If I have to send somebody out, I would cherry pick off of my shelves, for instance. the freeze-dried foods, some of the specific MREs, and even a couple of the canned goods. Examples, the no-name brand, you know, OERD-type spaghettis and raviolis from the old M. A lot of them have zip-can tops, and they have to have a can opener nowadays, so I prefer using the ones that have a little more stable lid in the long run. May or may not be an issue for long-term storage. Again, you've got all kinds of multiple overlapping solutions. Dried foods, you do the dried grains, Or do the dried peanut, you know, the peanut cluster slash dried fruit combinations, the trail mix type stuff we make our own, and or we buy it. Again, either way, it's a matter of how much am I buying for it, can I get it marked down, is it free or cheap? Food is a weapon. Again, you want to carry more food, it won't just be a three day pack this way. You stuff that pack with every crumb you can. Anywhere you can slip another protein bar, workout protein bars are great. Seriously, that's one of the most concentrated food stuffs that you can find in the market. You can get all kinds of them. In fact, we go to Big Lot. They have all of these upper end, stupid priced energy bars for a lot less. And then, if they're outdated, which is fine by me, I don't care, they mark them down to half of what they are even beyond that. So we just got a pile of energy bars for like a dollar a box. Normally it'd be like five, six dollars or four dollars, whatever. me open a box don't just stuff all of them in one if you got three or four packs just randomly stuff two here three in that guy's pack okay they do the same thing although start from the other end so the one guy doesn't keep ending up with the three extras so he ends up with more goodies this guy gets three and then do it again differently but they add a mix-up there's no reason for you not to have a mix-up and not gonna be a significant change up I mean there's only so many things you can do with it protein bars or with anything you're talking about that kind of food stuff that is all part of the filler of the keeping things dynamic and of course keeping you energized. Multiple vitamins are another thing. Do any of the field rations by a well-made, well-constructed multiple vitamin. You guys do the research and shop on that. And the idea behind it is it doesn't make any difference. Well, I don't want you to care about this. That's not the point. You're looking at an emergency situation where you are possibly going to be sucking babies and starving. Well, we're going to prevent health. Is starving? you thinking with your belly and eventually barely lose your mind by having the food in hand you now are able to think intelligently and make rational decisions. It's intelligent. Right? In fact even if immediately someone goes, what I can't afford those expensive vitamins go to the dollar store get multiple vitamins put that in your pack. So you just said yeah well if you can't afford it you just told me you don't have much. Everybody tries to come up with some lame excuse. When you don't have as much, then you make it with what you can. Example, if you are throwing whatever cheap food stuff you can into the pack, go to McDonald's, get any kind of condiment packs that they have, ketchup, whatever. A solid container, not a floppy bag. Take a solid container, stuff some of those in there. You go to Taco Hell, well, it's amazing, you could afford to go to Taco Hell, but you couldn't afford to put a 72-hour kit together. Next time you go to Taco Hell, grab yourself a whole handful of those over there. and put those in that little container that's going to go in your backpack. That creates the flavor change up. If all you've got is rice or if you've got rice and beans, you can have Spanish one day, you can have Chinese the next, then you can go just dull rice and it gives you more of that Euro thing like you're in Northern Europe or you're in Scotland. If you want to hang this, you can do that a lot. Some other beef. The fact of the matter is that you can be creative and cheap. point out again over at Dollar Tree. The neat thing is that the containers again can be refilled and the purification pump or system, there's a bunch of them out there right now. You refill the camelback if that's what you're into. You refill all your other supplemental containers as you can. The smaller container means that if something's compromised you only lose a small amount of water, you know, something gets perforated, damaged, it could be shot. That happens. You don't get shot, but your junk gets, you know, your gear gets shot. It gets a hole in it.
