I was absolutely shocked as to what went wrong, and I couldn't believe it. I made a tactical error when I started my spring. I did not check my seed for percentage of germination. It was around 85 or 90 percent germs. Turns out a lot of that seed was zero. It had gone bad. I'll take full credit for it. Very possibly it got fried, so to speak. But because I did not check my seed before it went into the ground, I wasted valuable weeks. Because not only did I plant it and then wonder what happened, but I planted it again and waited for it not to come up. But these are lessons that are well learned now. Yeah, it was a cheap lesson. Had this happened a year from now, it could have cost a lot of people around me their lives. A seed? Can you vacuum pack seed and have it an extended slice? You can tell if you want me to take it. There's a whole lot of schools that's going on it, whether it works, it doesn't work. Personally, I wouldn't vacuum pack it. I might tend to pull an ever so slight, remove most of the air out of the package. I would more be concerned with it staying in a cool, dark place. Refrigerator is okay. Certain seeds, like fruit seeds, require a certain number of hours of freezer time. But generally for your vegetables, cool, dry place. We put them inside plastic bags, inside cans, inside rat-proof cans. That means like 50-caliber cans, 20-millimeter cans, 55-gallon drums, because those rats can get through that plastic. And one thing you don't want to leave is your seed stock. Because that's your life. Another thing with the seeds is this, like stability. Yeah, absolutely. Generally they say it will last a year. Beans will last for years. I made the seeds a couple of years. And people need to understand, put them in a basement where they're nice and cool and dry. Four, which your germination rate feed was what? And she cut the little masons out? Yeah. Like a joke. I used to wear fruit. I, you know, squash, pumpically plant that. Also when you're growing your own seed miles away, in a couple generations, you know, a couple years of growing, on your crop, they will become a call to little, medically, you know, that's an important thing to remember, but, pre-seeds are really important to remember. Standpoint is, you know, we're gonna wake up while my program's wherever, just, you're gonna, your people think while growing up, how you gonna eat, gotta grow, and you know, learning curve, you know, dial miserable, right? So, food safety. the science of candy. I might have an answer to get you across part of the winter. If you buy enough of that seed, and I mean you better be buying the stuff by the pound, and the five pound, and the ten pound packages, is to sprout the stuff. Sprouting is one technology, another technology is microgreens. You can do this stuff in your living room. I sprout stuff here primarily for my chickens. Technically they're microgreens, they're not sprouting. When you soak the seed and when the roots come out and the shoot comes out, that's technically a sprout. Now if you just keep that in the dark by itself, you can let that sprout up and in about five or six days you've got a pretty good sized sprout. They do water chestnuts, most of it to be in Chinese restaurants. But I'll take those early, the barley that's cheap 12.50 a bag, a 50 pound bag. Sprout this stuff. It takes approximately seven to eight days. And then I'll take that grass mat, which is the barley and its roots and its sprout, and I'll feed it to my chickens. They love it. When it gets real green, I don't like the taste of it. Barley before it turns green. It's not bad, and we've all heard of barley soup. Now here's a possibility. You can do the same thing with lettuce. You can do it with radishes. You sprout this stuff. It gets up maybe 2, 3, 4, 6 inches high. And then you cut it off with a pair of scissors and mix it into your salad. I don't know about you, but I'm awful happy to see salads by December. My system is built to run on a lot of salads, or it gets awful sluggish. So here's a gap going through the winter that may help you out. Get on the net, lots of information up there on YouTube.
