Mark Koernke discussed emergency preparedness and protective equipment on December 1, 2016, focusing heavily on gas masks, filters, and chemical protective gear available through MainMilitary.com. He covered filter types and their protective capabilities against biological and chemical threats, explained how to identify filter specifications using color-coding systems, and provided guidance on filter maintenance and replacement. Koernke also addressed CB radio selection for emergency communication, discussed wildfire threats in the southeastern United States and the importance of community-organized fire prevention, and fielded caller questions about mask durability and filter longevity. He emphasized the importance of proper equipment caching, water reservoir systems for fire suppression, and coordinated community preparedness efforts, including militia organizational activities in Michigan and surrounding states.

A figure walking through the mist with a flintlock in his hand. His clothes were torn and dirty as he stood there by my bed. He took off his three-cornered hat. And speaking low to me, he said, we've fought a revolution to secure our liberty. We wrote the Constitution as a shield from tyranny. For future generations, this legacy we gave. In this, the land of the free and home of the brave. The freedoms we secured for you, we hoped you'd always keep. The tyrants labored endlessly while your parents were asleep. Your freedom's gone, your courage lost, you're no more than a slave. In this the land is a free, the brave. You buy permits to travel and permits to own a gun. Permits to start a business or to build a place for one. On land that you believe you own, you pay a yearly rent. Although you have no voice in saying how the money's spent, your children must attend a school that doesn't educate. And your Christian values can't be taught. According to the state, you read about the current news in a regulated press and you pay a tax you do not owe to please the IRS. Your money is no longer made of silver nor of gold. You trade your wealth for paper so your life can be controlled. You pay for crimes that make our nation turn from God and shame. You've given government control to those who do you harm so they could burn down churches and see and reform and keep our country deep Put men of God in jail, harass your fellow countrymen while corrupted courts prevail. Your public servants don't uphold the solemn oaths they've sworn. And your daughters visit doctors so their children and your leaders send artillery and guns to foreign shores and send your sons to slaughter fighting other people's wars. Can you regain the freedoms for which we fought and died? Or don't you have the courage or the faith to stand with pride? And are there no more values for what you'll fight to save? Or do you wish your children to live in fear and be a slave? Oh, sons of the Republic, arise, take a stand, defend the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the land, preserve our great Republic and each God-given right, and pray to God to torture freedom burning bright. As I awoke, he vanished in the mist from whence he came. His words were true, not free. But we have ourselves to blame. For even now as tyrants trample each god-given right, we only watch him tremble, too afraid to stand and fight. If he stood by your bedside to dream while you were asleep and wondered what remains of the freedoms he'd fought to keep, what would be your answer if he called out from the grave? afternoon to the Aleutians and to our friends in the great state. Still way behind us and it's still bright and shiny out there. We are at sunset and getting dark fast. A little hazy rain gray all day, just about got a little brighter here and there, but still just getting to the hazy gray day. I don't think that's going to slow down. Today's date, well Thursday, it's the first of December. It is the eighth year of open Fabian the socialist. Socialist occupation of America with a K 2016 old earth calendar. 2016 Europe battle. Congratulations. Anyway, beautiful day. We're alive. Some places are burned out and brown right now, especially down there in Kentucky and Tennessee. And the spot's also, I guess, in the Carolinas. Hey, wait a minute. Some spot's out west, too. Hey, wait a minute. Some spot's in Canada. My goodness. It's almost like just actually in this rainy, wet season we've had. No, it's not dead, Luz. It's just been a good, wet trip by the Seneca. a yu-to-ho. Wait a minute, I've got to benchmark that. More on that in a little bit because that is kind of... Yeah, I'm going to have to paper it on that one real quick. Somebody just sent me something that I don't have time for. You've got to do it before we do the program, guys. That one's on occasion. I can favor it and save it that way. So I appreciate the thumbs up on that and the heads up. Now, meanwhile, Oh, I'm going to fit it in before we get too late here. We got some ear candy, actually. I had another bunch of requests saying something. Apparently, we've got a lot of people who have been in the bad land, in the border land area, in the lines, in the meat territory. Anyway, gas masks, high priority CBs. I've had a bunch of, you know, four year requests. You know, what CB should I buy? Well, actually, I like the Unigine, 510s. Seriously, but trying to find them out there in good numbers right now, it's not very often. I've had really good luck with the 510s. I've got probably about old 20, 24 of them or so. In fact, I just found them when I stuck in another kit. It was where I could have used it, but I just didn't know it was there because it was one of those. When I was doing emergency backup radios, I kind of put these into seal-o-meal bags, and they're the foggy ones. I couldn't see it right. that was a battery pack. Well, it was not the battery pack and Mark didn't put the, I usually take a slip of paper and put a big black set of letters there that tells you what it is. And I didn't put it in that one. It must have been I was either tired or in a rush or something. Again, the Unit N510s are nice. The Cobras work, the Midlands work, the little duck boxes, pretty much everything they're marketing at the truck stop, it works. To what degree varies depending upon your production. Right now, I've not heard of any recalls recently. They got stupid and chintzy back a couple of times in the late 90s and in the aughts. Again, China Sport and a lot of those radios had circuit board problems where they broke on the corner. Well, they had to send them back in because they were under warranty people to throw them back at the store. The store would throw them back at the company. Well, what they didn't turn around and did is they rebuilt them and put them back out as clear as brown box radios. Now, I haven't seen any of those in a little bit again either. But ask your truck stop, have you got any of these remanufactured radios? Ask about that. The one we had here, they were about $10 less per unit or $15 almost half less per unit for the small radio. And you saved about $40 or $45 on the mid-size radios. Another main difference is what you get. Right now the big news is get a CB for every piece of equipment and make sure it's on board, hooked up or at least know how you can hook it up quick. Ideally, use the power supply, the cigarette plug, you know, cigarette lighter plug in your dash. If you only have one, buy a gang plug, buy an expander. You don't have to buy it from the truck stop. You can go to a common number of other sources and get a multi plug. That way you can still charge up your phone. You can still hook up other, you know, equipment like cameras without any problem and they can co-share. None of them pull that much power anymore. That's not a big deal, especially with the milli micro amperage that we're talking about here with the microcircuitry. It's not like the good old days with stuff that was built like a brick dog house and wow, the circuitry and the transformer on board made it go, lights into the car and it's Frankenstein. Oh yeah, that's something else. Anyway, and my buddy used to be like that man, one of them was like, whoa, dudes. I said, you aren't even out from California. It's like, yeah, but you are around a lot of people from California. How can you tell, man? Honestly, as I can tell, I can too. They all assume, man, I think you know it too, man. They think you're from California, you're cool. It's not cool. As it is, we're going to go to a little ear candy here, Rexon. An excellent version of Short Change Hero. This is for Alicia and for Reggie and... and who else was on the request sheet here? We had a whole bunch of when you heard it, it's like, go play again for his mark. Oh, and also for Delph. So for everybody out there, Rexon, and from the Borderlands, here we go. Should say, well, good afternoon. Wakey and happy fun time tonight because we got drizzly rain and everything's being lit up and warmer. Forgive me, from Iowa. And some friends from Gretel, along with probably Ohio's coming up tonight too, if they know that the guys from Mount Western here We'll probably have a delegation coming up from Indiana, Ohio and from the bottom end of Illinois. So expect a lot more company this weekend. There were some discussions about what's going on north of the guys out there in Kansas with the Dakotas. And there have been some questions because they had some people who went up there. So they went all the way up north. Then they came back home. Now they're coming over to Michigan. We'll find out more. I might even get a chance to talk to them Saturday evening. We'll see what happens. But again, good afternoon for all of our friends there. Mollish MPs, will we be doing their jobs? So again, with regard to parking, we've got mushy and soft now, guys. We put a lot of limestone and gravel in, the guys did with this last series of constructions. But we still, again, we coordinate. We don't just park anywhere. We don't chew up our site because that draws attention. We change things. If you're going to have to leave, you'll be parking in the permanent parking. If you do not have to leave, you'll be parking in the temporary slash over park areas, typically under the tree cover, as you know, and follow the instructions from the militia MPs doing their job. They're just really pestering while they're trying to make sure that we don't mess up the environment. And we have a little gray matter operation going on here. Coordinated effort makes all the difference in the world, OK? And understand that now the conference line is garbled a little bit. Well, we'll find out. Anybody here hearin' okay? Give me a thumbs up. Yeah, you sound good here. Okay, so I think that probably came in with some of the work Ed was doing to adjust the other lines, guys, because that's one of the problems with one of the system hiccups. We really, you know, again, he's got a, you know, kind of like playing the piano. He's got to re-tune it sometimes. Happens. And in this case, we got everything squared pretty well squared away. Now, the gray area, that's OK. I don't really bother with them anyway. The situation with these fires going the way that they are, we need to actually have a little better map out that we can put out on the air if people can kind of give a heads up. A lot of people listening, in fact, for any programming, all of our Patriot programming traditionally has done this. There's no sense in getting caught flat-footed or stuck in an area when you don't need to. You can avoid by re-navigating. highly recommend just that. Some of these of course are, in fact I'm going to point something out. Now the fire that the fires we're seeing right now especially in the ridge, on the ridge, the smokeys, you might recall if you've been listening to the morning program, Joe McNeil and the family of course had to fight a fire up there on the ridge and had the same problems. However, they organized up on the top of the mountain And all the people that were available created their own fire unit and pretty well saved all their properties and the properties of their neighbors who normally aren't there year round. Probably the areas that are affected were also like a big bag of cats. Everybody pretty well not talking to each other. Everybody, of course, somebody else will take care of me. Government will take care of me. Why should I worry? Oh, it's going to get rid of anyway. It's written off and I'm sure I can get a FEMA loan. The idiots don't really understand. always that excuse, the government will do it, I just leave everything behind. Did you leave the dogs and the cats there? Got them too. That's the kind of stuff you see in situations like this and with the brain dead, that is typically how they operate. So, beware and again, pick your surroundings well but also you might want to keep in the back of your mind that you may end up being the firefighting service. How is it that you can best enhance your situation or your environment there It's not that difficult to do, but it's something you need to always have in the back of your mind. In fact, Indian savages used to use fire as a regular tool. For that matter, anybody has throughout history. If you are looking at building a retreat or you have a retreat, you might want to pay attention to that fire threat issue to see how it is that you've sculpted or re-sculpted the landscape during attention. In other words, you can't have scorched earth. in advance, although there's such things as backburn, that's something you've probably heard before and basically let's just spell that out. You burn an area towards the fire. You know that the fire, that environment is going to be burned anyway, or typically will be, and by burning the fuel in advance, by burning it down, it can be a grassy area, it can be a limited brush area, but you burn towards the fire and burn the fire out. Literally destroy its ability to continue to expand because the fuel available has been destroyed. So that's again when you hear the term backburn, that's what that means. It's literally cutting the fire back by denying it additional material or it cuts a line through what would be the normal progression, say down the road or over the ridge or up the hill because it does not have the ability to continue to creep. It does not have that next element that it needs to jump from one area to the next. That's one of the most common tricks that's used. The other thing is the ability to fight the fire Water reservoirs, cisterns, all kinds of fun stuff. Remember you can do what is the equivalent to water saturation slash water mines. That sounds weird, but it's not. If you have cisterns, you can actually set up a quick, like a speed pump, actually let the generator or even a solar unit with a battery system actually work the pump so that you can be somewhere else while it's busy reducing the fire area of activity. close your by, you know, say in that particular area of control. It's like an automated weapon system. But in this case, one that can be directional, it's again regulated. You don't just want to dump everything and then be empty. What you do is you take advantage of using it as a, again, you can be remote controlled, remote controlled, whatever you want to do. But what you can do is knock down dramatically whatever threat might be in the area there. And then you can have several of those located as part of your water cache system to begin with, your caching system. And we'll say cache. cache. Caches were everywhere. If you didn't like cache, I will sashay your book. I'll smack you side to head. Anyway, and by the way, he was from Georgia, okay, just in case you didn't know that. So, caches were in Georgia. I guess caches are up here in north where we have a clipped language is how it works. Anyway, let's see what's next on the list here. Another question people had about the gas mask, and again, it's still the most common. How long will the filters last? That's been repeated over and over again, but it's OK. Guys, it's a matter of loading. What are you breathing in or what's the environment like? How much junk do you have there? Now, if you've gone through what is a suspected biological threat, see, that's a more advanced threat. That's something we're not covering right now because we're talking about, and we haven't been doing an NBC class on the air here yet. But if we do have any kind of high threat, the filters should be considered a disposable contamination item. They have loaded up with something that was designed to try to kill you. This is another reason that you have duct tape on board. What's the duct tape for? Well, when you're decontaminating, one of the things that you do is, and you may actually insert, for instance, well, step one, is you evacuate the mask and you will replace the filter in a typical manner as trained. When you have a filter that is contaminated, a little piece of duct tape, an inch duct tape width by duct tape width is the best way to think about it, a little cube, slap that right over the intake for that filter. It's true, there are a lot of nasty bugs out there that we really don't want to catch. And you did catch them. You caught them. If you went through the area and you went, oh yeah, that's baseball. I'm going to keep it on or you won't be able to breathe it off. When you were sucking that air in, if there was a contaminant there or it's confirmed that there was a contaminant there, then remember you're carrying it. If you move the filter around or you drop something down next to it, whatever, you can do what's called cross-contamination. surface area of the filter has done its job. Now I'm not talking about the low end like the smog, gas, powder, dust, whatever it is we've got right now. Again, soot. We're talking about the higher threat levels. Remember that you take that piece of duct tape, you slap it over the end of that filter, and then when you take the filter off, if you have the old filter cap that goes on, you screw that on the other end. You seal the system up. then that filter is treated as a biological hazard. Now with the rest of what you're dealing with, it's not so much a hazard, it's the sad part is it's like, man, eventually it's getting hard to suck through this filter. It's harder to breathe. I must not be in good shape. No, it's the filter is loaded up and it's time for you to probably change it out. And that's the indicator when it becomes more difficult to share through the filter, through the mask. Then that's one of the several indicators that there are other technologies that are available. You can also just gauge if you're doing an air quality test. More on that in a minute. But just loading can easily be determined by the labor required to use the mask. You decide that it's too much for you and you have spare filters and you seem to be flush in them or rich in them. Well, you unscrew the filter, you put another filter in place, take the other filter and put it off to the side. Take the cap that you sealed the original filter with and put it on the intake side. Take the other cap, screw it on the outside. Don't throw the filter away yet. Because it is possible, depending upon the type of material that you were collecting, that you might actually be able to purge some of that and use the filter again for future operations similar to what you experienced. Or at least get partial life out of the filter. Remember guys, once you start using this stuff, you can use it up. And unless it's really hardcore contaminant, the soot's not going to kill you. Road dust is not going to kill you. Not even CS or CN is going to kill you. It's not pleasant, but it's not going to kill you. But there are other things that can be in the air. And that's what I just wanted to touch on to make sure you understand. When you're looking at a higher agent, And when I talk about surveying, just to get an idea of what I'm talking about, you don't have to go to military manuals. All you need to do is go over to Grainger Supply. You can go over to it on the internet or you can get a catalog. If you get a catalog that's the size of a dictionary or a Bible, well no, it's bigger than a Bible, it's more like a dictionary. A big library dictionary. And in there they have PPE equipment, you know, personal protection equipment. There was a whole section on that. Now part of it covers masks, part of it covers body protection, some of it covers even armor for protecting your body and your arms and your hands, whatever. Other components include survey and monitoring equipment. So if you're curious about what I'm talking about about survey and monitoring equipment, this is air quality control technology. Much of what they have is military grade and is typically the very same equipment that the US uses in the field with its chemical core or with any other defense units when they're in the field and they're monitoring for radiological, biological threat. And then you can survey. Now if you get that good that you've got the manpower and the ability to do that and you're actually able to invest in that, They definitely are a worthwhile component to help you to determine threat level in the future. Especially since right now these are just accidents or government acts of terror. These are government sponsored terror actions maybe, okay? Now, the body of the environment. This is part of the regular routine. This is part of the living in the, you know, living the full experience. Like going on vacation. You're living the whole experience of vacation though. can be done there. We got a caller? What do we got going on here? I hear a lot of background noise. Your filter should not be a problem. Like I said, that's a low end threat. That filter is good for anywhere from as little as eight hours to as good as, well, probably days. You didn't have that great a concentration. You were inside a vehicle most of the time, right? Yeah, right, right, right. Okay, so here's how it works. Your vehicle is pre-filtering with the existing system, or at the very least, you know, again, a certain amount is, you know, loaded up in your air system. That's nothing we didn't talk about. Remember, when you have stuff in the air, it doesn't necessarily get through because it's busy building up in other spots in your equipment. you know, in your air system for instance and you're going to keep smelling that or you're going to experience that for quite some time, which is another reason for having a filter system on your air system anyway. There's a lot of add-ons units that you can apply. Because of that, because you're in the vehicle, that filter dealt with the difference that was causing the problems for it and some of it could be worse than other individuals. So I don't see that filter being a problem for the time being. It should be good for any number of other events like that. Yeah, you might as well leave it on the mask now. It's as good to have it there as any place. And besides, it's really, the only reason you worry about the mask is moisture and extreme moisture buildup or the possibility of, again, some kind of environmental issue. Typically, you always, an active mask in the military, all the masks always have filters on board. Well at a certain point what the military unit does is, okay guys today is December 1st. I want everybody to come here into Quartermaster, bring your masks, everybody brings their masks in. Used to be we'd date them for when we applied them. The way to do it is Quartermaster would take you know, you hand over your old filter. They didn't care about the old filter. It's just they don't give. That way didn't just get thrown somewhere. A lot of guys took them home or just made them disappear. When you get the new one, the quartermaster writes the date on it with a Sharpie. That way they know that everybody got their mask today on the 1st of December, got their filter on the 1st of December. Six months or a year from now, we're going to change them out again. It depends on the era when you were in the military. I'm sorry, go ahead. well you can do that now if you do that just do it like you would uh... well you know it is a long we don't need to go sharpie and you can put that on the uh... face of the filter because they only got one area another so deep green and issues of fine sharpie and then uh... right down near your your time and exposure i'm not too worried about that mask without pretend that filtered the mask itself you won't wear out you're not aware that so that mask out uh... fact none of them there's none that i can see that have brought up i have not had In all the years I have had maybe three masks that were questionable once they're in service out of thousands and thousands and thousands. So that's why I try to explain to people that most all of the modern masks, unless it's like there were some Belgian ones that came in, they were already badly stored in heat, and they were all crinkly because of the rubber that was used, the plastic that was used. And those are questionable. If I was in a disaster situation and I had to pull it off somebody's face and it looked like that, I'd use it. In other words, if I didn't have anything. But all the masks that we're talking about are an excellent condition or unused condition. And even in good condition, I've never seen one that's failed. I mean, there's a lot of things you can do to it. You can abuse them and fail them. But as long as you properly take care of your equipment, it pretty well is going to work for you as long as necessary. I mean as long as you want to use it. The big thing is changing out the filters. That's the perishable. So you've already got that in motion. You've got an idea what to do. And the idea is to just keep track of it and use it for as long as it makes sense. And if you don't feel comfortable with it, go buy another filter and you'll replace it with one of the filters you got. But go buy a replacement. Whenever you toss one, buy more. She's all into masks. She wants me to get into the Israeli. She's been looking at them. I want the A15 Israeli. It's a good mask. I've used a lot of them. It's an okay mask. It's not as sophisticated as the one that you're wearing, but it does have a larger triangular eyepiece for the same reason that your eyepieces are built the way they are. It's an oversized triangular eyepiece so that it helps you create the illusion of an open face mask. It's a serviceable, it's a German, look at it this way. Tell her, oh really, Israeli? Yeah, good, that's German. And that'll kind of, oh no, it's Israeli, it's a, no, the Israelis don't make their own mask. They have 100% of them built in Germany. So tell her, yeah, it's a good German mask. It's Israeli, no, it's German. But it's a good mask. And it's the next step up from the Civil Defense mask. There are a couple other models. Of course they steal ours all the time. I mean the Israelis do. So they steal ours and the American people can't have them. But boy, the Israelis rip us off left and right. I have on eBay questions. Some of you know it. A 40 millimeter. Does that mean you don't buy any 40 millimeter mask? In fact, everybody pretty well standardized on this. It's funny because there used to be many, many different dimensions and patterns and sizes. But because again, it is a safety item and I would assume that a series of other treaties or betrayals, take your pick, took place years ago that pretty well put everybody on the same page for the filter thread. There's the 60mm NATO. Those are still out there. There's a lot of them out there. But the 40mm The Germans had it, the Hungarians, the Dutch, the Germans, the French, everybody has the same filter thread. So the cool thing is that if it's a 40 millimeter thread, it'll fit your mask. And it doesn't mean there's who or which made it. Now, I would point out, in fact, hold on here, I think I just saw these at, right now at Maine, I may be wrong, let's find out. I think I just saw the Hungarian filters at Maine again. If you want to see what I'm talking about, about the OSHA standard and how the, oh, yep, they have them. 40 millimeter gas mass filters, A2, B2, E2, K2, P3. That's the nomenclature for the filters. It says $44.99 a piece. That might be for a single filter. Hold on here. That's full range. OK, this is a deep filter, guys. There it is, well, $44.99. Let me double check to make sure it's what I'm looking at. Protection against all known biological and chemical agents. Third party tested against chemical warfare gases. Excellent protection against sarin. And it's Surrogate, DMMP. Particulate filter is over 99.99 efficient against all particulates and is appropriate for protection against all biological aerosols. This is what I was talking about earlier. This is a full spectrum filter. Point out something. Your mask costs $13. This filter costs $45 by itself. But now let me read what it lists. The Drager filter protects against chemical and biological warfare agents like sarin and other nerve gases, mustard, mustard gas, uh, kynogen, phosgene, radio and radioactive, highly toxic particulates, aerosols, microorganisms, bacteria and viruses. Uh, let's see, hold on, I'm trying to read the rest of this here. Industrial gases, type A2, B2, E2. According to the EN141IE Organic Gases and Vapors, E.G. ergo, hydrogen cyanide, hydrogen sulfide, organic and inorganic acids such as formic acid, sulfur dioxide, and hydrogen fluoride. And hydrogen chloride, warfare and terrorism agents such as anthrax, sarin, and smallpox. Mustard gas as well as riot control agents, so of course that's the lowest end. That's the lower end right there. Mustard gas is still pretty nasty anyway. You won't be training in it, but you might be hit by it. Again, these filters are $34.99 and that's just the filter by itself. Now, the reason I bring this up is take a look at the body of the filter. You'll notice that it has color lines. If you know how to read those, you can identify the potential defense capability of whatever it is you're buying. Okay, that's an industry standard color-coding system. So for anybody who's asking, well, what would be, well, protect me from everything, that filter would do it. Now, take a look. Any of the masks that it fits, $14.99 for the Draeger mask in OD green, and the filter is $45. Now, you still get a regular filter with the mask, So you actually, again, but for that additional protection, that's one direction. Now, here's another one. If you go to the same page with their chemical agents, gas, mass, NBC and chemical, scroll down on the right third line and there is Hungarian Gas Mass Filter, NOS 40 millimeter. These are $8 a piece. Take a look at the body of the mask. Take a look at the information. Everything is there that you need to know. Okay, so guys, they're very user friendly for information. The big thing is to understand different threat potential. You don't take that $45 filter and use it for what you were doing in the last couple days. So I'll be marked, system, numbers, if you know numbers, this is why I told you, what have I said a million times? You need to master the trade. All of the information is on the filter. That's what those numbers and letters are for. So if you have to, you need to do the research. If you don't know what they mean, you'd better go find out what they mean. Yeah, well, I'm just going to write up with therapy, you know, spectrum. Right, you can do that. But again, remember, don't compromise the caps if it's in a containment system. While we're talking, I'm looking to see if they had any other filters. They still have the Swiss gas mask and the clamshell, those filters. And this is all at Maine Military, guys. MaineMilitary.com. MaineMilitary.com. They also have in stock again. They've kind of come and gone. They've got them again. They're not as cheap as they were. For the Canadian and Finnish and old NATO, older NATO, 60 millimeter. They've got the 60 millimeter to 40 millimeter adapters for $3 apiece, which is a good price. I mean, they were cheaper still. I told everybody to buy them when they were a quarter. That's when they had bins of them. And it's like, man, we got to move these. So they did. Now, I would point out, you want to see the difference if you look. Notice the thickness and the lack of thickness of the Israeli 40 millimeter gas mask filter. Look at the difference between that and some of the others in terms of thickness. Understand that that particular filter is a basic filter. It may not necessarily cover the full incineration. But still, for $8, hey, it's a filter to put on that mask I bought for $3, right? could be any number of different options. They may have actually built one locally for reusing other equipment. I'd have to look at it. It could be something they've actually modified so that they could keep the original core filter intact. It might even be like a big shell that's a pre-filter that goes over the regular mask. The reason is that again, it wasn't a hose, right? It just was the filter right out of the mask. It looks like the ones we're talking about, but it looks like a football. I have to take a look at it. Again, the reason they're using the mask, it will eliminate all of the smell. It's not going to alleviate anything and get stuck to you because when you're handling bodies, depending on how long they've been around, they get sticky. For as long as you have the mask on, it's going to keep the other issues at bay because the other consideration with moving casualties, remember, is that it creates a fluvia. body breaking down, the bacteria on board the body starts to take over and that's why you get that smells, unique smells that you'll never forget. Well, you don't want to inhale those because that's identifying the carrier on the air, the effluvia that can be a cross-contaminate. You catch diseases or things or at least you catch bugs. You didn't really need to catch you from that. Don't some children like stacking them? That's what I was talking about before with the, that's what they might have done, okay, what they could have done, but it's goofy because with the, typically the 40 millimeter standard military small ones, no. The large Russian, they're like I call them a high C can, about the size of a high C juice can. They have a, the female element, instead of it just being an intake, actually has a female thread that's a 40 millimeter thread. Now, they might have been on that mask wearing an orange juice can size, one of those high C cans, and they may have even put another filter in front of that. Also, the next step is to duct tape it in place so that it doesn't, you know, nothing slides around. But that would be heavier in hell on the front of the mask. That's why they make the hoses, because that particular type of filter hangs down and in the bag, typically. If you had it hanging off your mask, it's constantly trying to compromise the seal, because that's a very heavy filter. That's why you've got to have the right bag. In fact, thank you for bringing this up. If you buy the hoses, there are bags available that were built for the canister type that go in the canister's carrier. There's an intake in the bag. There's actually a hole in the bag in the bottom with a couple of dowels that create a standoff so that you don't suck the bottom of the bag to the filter and you don't get any air. You want to watch for those. If you're going to put a hose system together, I have several thousand of those bags that are the type with the hole in the base and they have the pocket of coffee can to hold the orange juice can. Things people forget about. Until they're trying to breathe and they find out it's kind of hard to breathe and they cannot be able to breathe when they breathe in. Well, you're sucking the bottom of that bag right up to that intake and boy, you got some vacuum there. You keep breathing harder, but you don't get anything. You keep breathing harder, you don't get anything. So just a heads up. By the way, before I forget, one other thing I want to do here, we're talking about chem suits. And I will remind you again, they got Mark III. And I think they also have Polish in these too. There's a direct cop. They're Mark III chem suit jackets for $5 apiece. Guys, these make, they're an Anorak model. I've got one, mine's in the wash right now. I've been trying to kill it, and I still haven't killed the one that I took out 19 years ago. Out of the pack, I just wanted to abuse it. Usually it takes a year at the most, and you'll tear it apart. Boy, this old beastie is still hanging on and it's for $5 apiece, that's kensuit and also, remember, it's a cold weather item. They have them in medium and they have them in large in the OD, probably the forest, but it might even be, they're showing them in OD green. Typically, they're more in the Kelly or the forest green. Not really Kelly, forgive me, forest green is the correct color. But if they're OD green, that's the later model and probably a little fresher still than the ones that I have. or is she someone that I have? I have some newer, some older. As long as the vacuum seal's not busted on those bags, we're gonna blast indefinitely, guys. But that is a solution, so there is another answer, not just complaining about the problem.
