You see, we already know about solar activity. In fact, radio operators, ham operators, know about the four-year, the seven-year, nine-year, what is it, the other one? There's a 21-year cycle. I think there's one that's in between there that are different variances depending upon where we are in the overall solar cycle. And guys, these are like consistent repeat, repeat, repeat ad nauseam. It just happens over and over again. It's clockwork. It's solar clockwork. Well, because of that, for instance, with shortwave commercial broadcasting, you might recall that we would change up the dial progressively. Well, over that so many years cycle, about eight and a half, we then turn around and go back to the bottom of the dial again. and start over again working our way up through the frequencies that are authorized by the FCC for those who have big radio licenses. And in the process, we clean up the signal guys. Well, when you're a ham operator and we're working planetary defense, so to speak, for continental defense, Guys, you're going to be bouncing all over the dial based upon what you can get through with, which means part of your signal communications work is going to be identifying, both with practical applications, science, what we already know, in conjunction with having to defeat electronic countermeasures and other issues to get the signal through, to be able to talk and or be heard. Okay? Do a little research. I'm not teaching anything that a lot of you RO's don't know, but remember because of this you can have atmospheric bounce, you can push a signal farther, you can shorten the signal up. Remember that by not just going up and down the dial, but pushing and or withdrawing the signal means that it will hit stronger at a particular location. Literally it is a sine wave. Think of it that way. By withdrawing energy we can do a better job of dropping or dumping onto the pieces of real estate. We might want to talk to Extend it out. We can talk to the world We can actually bounce the signal halfway around the world if we want to at least some cases even farther Be quite honest over the horizon Because first of all realistic with standard shortwave, but let me give you a little hint. We now have the ion batteries and blah blah blah blah blah. So there's newer and there's always something else. The battery's shot, no, it could be the motor or the drill's got a problem, but We'll say first you at least get some bluuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu Now just because they all basically get soldered the same doesn't mean that Fred or Molly when they're at the factory at say 354 in the afternoon, they really, really, really want to get every job done right. They're thinking more about the door than they are about what's in front of them. And they might do the soldering, they might run the machine, but maybe an index, for instance, a constant feed, lead sink, feeder for the solder gun. There are many of them, it's a multi-head. Maybe one of them ran dry. Maybe it was almost dry. Maybe just about on the edge of the last part of the line. So we'll slow that feed down and we'll nip it a little faster because we don't want to dump as much lead on there because I don't want to break out another roll and it will take 10 minutes to reload that impact point, that feed point and impact point. So I'll just let her slide. Now what happens is, it could also just happen by natural process, guys. Machines don't work flawlessly non-stop. Things happen. But a little solder point might not be as well connected as it should be. You drop a drill enough or a drill and a battery enough, eventually one of those little wires in there might go, eeugh! and they separate. It just says, oh I've had enough of that. I can only flex so much. There's only so much, you know, pin holding me to that battery and I'm done. Now that's cool because that means typically all the batteries in your cell are in that pack are functional. However, remember that again you're going to be able to identify certain problems with each of these very quickly by metering the batteries. That's the cheapest, fastest, easiest way. And you should do it anyway to check power slash output and value of each of the units. That's a good idea. Remember you could be dealing with the short stubby, two-third AA, full AA battery, AAA or C cells. Now the more common problem with tired with you know working battery packs is one cell goes bad. It's just that simple. Again, you don't know how the battery was stacked when the internal material was compressed into the cylinder. You don't know if there was a mix of batches and where one stops the other starts and the bleeder, the element in the front is contaminated or not mixed, not properly you know brought to temp. It doesn't bond right with the rest of the material that's already in the cylinder. It works, but at an over period of time it separates. Something happens. Well that one battery is the reject. But here's the kicker. You typically out of like say four, five, six, seven or eight batteries, only one cell is bad. The other seven which are about what? If you want to buy them about two, three or four or five dollars a piece? Well they're freebies. And as a matter of fact, again, remember, even that one that's not really all that great, it's not that it doesn't hold power, it just doesn't hold as much power. Now let me give you a little hint there. To activate a blasting cap on certain things, you don't need a real hot battery to get that done. So those batteries can be put off to the side for things to go boom in the night or when unexpected or if somebody steps on something or somebody opens a door. You put two or three of those tired batteries in place because you know it's high probability. Let's say you're booby trapping an area in front of an enemy. Well, that's where those things go because you know they're tired, you know they're going one way, they're not coming back. You know they might pick them up for scrapping for fragmentation in another bucket, you know bucket weapon when the time comes, who knows. Most likely it's not going to be the case. Probably that battery and other parts will be stuck in somebody's forehead, hind end, or somewhere in between those sets of body parts. But the batteries are all useful. They're absolutely dead-fud done, and that can mean that the filament itself, the element, the rods that run through the battery, which are of course a caked material, They separate, they fracture, something happens, who knows. Whatever it is, oxidation could be any number of things. You may have cooked the batteries with recharging. That one already had a short issue inside the body. It just finished her the rest of the way. She's not going to work for anymore. We can live with that. I'll throw that thing into the fragmentation bucket. to go into the full gas can when we dump a little HE behind rocks, pebbles, old batteries, pieces of nail, busted glass from windshields. When you set that off, well, that battery stuck in somebody's forehead 100 yards downrange will kill them just as dead as anything else you could put downrange. So I think it's cool that the batteries are available for that if all else fails, but it'd be nicer if we could use them to set stuff off or to talk to people or to run our night vision or whatever. So watch for people throwing things like that out. If you don't want those wireless phones, it's not a problem. However, I would recommend that if you can cannibalize some things out of them, so just grab the whole phone for now. Remember, most important is that all of these wireless phones are two different two-way walkie-talkies. How do you think you can talk on that box that doesn't have a wire when you walk around the room or around the house? What you have is a point-to-point walkie-talkie that you're hanging on to and a point-to-point walkie-talkie bass that you talk to. And it talks back to you and sends a signal to you. You see how that works? So all these little throwaway phones are in reality, though they can be used for all kinds of mean things. Here's one. Because there are in many cases VHF and they are actually 800 meg or 900 meg, they can be that or FM. Guys, direct line of sight, you can use them for forward sound arrays, forward sound collectors. They can be set up to be wireless. Remember you don't need that much power for that base. In fact, you'll know what your output is. By taking a look at the wall worth that typically operates that wireless phone There's the size of the battery pack you need for your base You can take the other the headset and use that as a collector Establishing it forward to your position leave it mic open and for as long as it runs especially at night at Night sound travels farther. There is less background noise a pickup mic. Oh, you might have heard that term before. Well, guess what? The phone mic that you have is a very good pickup mic. If you want to get a little crude and rude, you take a 3-quarter inch piece of PVC pipe, cut it about an inch and a half, two inches long. Take yourself a little bit of glue, of Insta-glue, whatever you got. Glue it over top of that collector point where your mic pickup is on the handset. Then take a piece of foam that you find that's used for filtering foam for air conditioners. Now cut yourself a little circle of that, small enough that, you know, like a cigar roll, it will go inside the PVC pipe in front of a little pickup hole on the handset. You know what you just created? You just created a bullet mic. For the cost of a throwaway handset, a 2 inch piece of 3 quarter inch PVC, and some foam that you can scavenge out of a wrecked AC unit, you now have a pickup mic. In fact, it is a directional pickup mic. Now what does the foam do? Well the foam helps to eliminate secondary background noise pickup. The microphone itself works just as well as any other little shotgun mic would. In fact, if I was going to build one that would be even more remote and mobile, without a power supply that would be already built like, oh wait a minute, the phone, it does have a power supply. And it has a transmitter so it sends the signal back for as far as I want to line of sight. Hey, wait a minute, this is too simple. Yeah, as a matter of fact, I can get lots and lots and lots of these cordless phones and Again, you don't have to do it now. It only takes so many minutes and they're throwaway items guys You could put them in put them up set them up for use and even abandon in place Remember down the road in the future. You're gonna come across phones like this laying all over the place on an urban battlefield Especially or in war zones where you have house damage Remember that you're constantly scavenging for this type of equipment There are a number of other reasons too, not the least of which is you don't need a cell phone to activate a remote weapon system. If you have a remotely detonated piece of equipment, you've got a hand-held transceiver that can send or receive a message and you have that base element. that can send or receive a message and both of them have a ringer system to make noise to let you know which is your gap creator, your arc creator for the pop pop boom boom part of you know giving the electricity to the explosive charge so that it will go boom right next to somebody standing next to the road or a vehicle going by or whatever. Oh you thought it had to be a cell phone. Well why? And the cell phone can be intercepted whereas you can freestand and independently establish that two-way radio telephone hookup and when you dial to wear it to the base to do a PA call, create the circuit, the circuit activates the capping charge, the capping charge activates the primary charge, primary charge goes boom and thrusts a whole big bunch of broken broken glass, chunks of rock, hell I'd even take the bones of my enemy and cut them into three inch pieces and stick them in there just so they could wander and do the DNA work. Oh, that would be mean. Actually you want to break them, that way you got sharp spots, that'd be kind of cool. So anyway, the whole point is all these little pieces of radio equipment, you just keep putting them in a box and they're on standby. Now don't forget to grab the wall warts and don't forget to grab all the other goodies. Why? Well, if you are producing demolitions, wire is kind of handy if nothing else. And telephone gauge wire or wire supply feeds, especially dual line feeds, are awfully handy because you have a positive and a negative line. Typically it needs to be fed and needs to be free standing and independent. Well, look at all that wire you got laying around. Just like we said, if you needed an improviser or an adapter overcome using cars as wrecks, Guys, you realize that you can take the hood of a car, two or three other pieces of equipment, and all the electronics and power supply that's on board the vehicle. I wouldn't care if the engine ran or not. It doesn't need to. How many miles of wire do you pull from a car if you actually take the time to do it? And in this day and age, it's actually a couple of miles. Now think about that. And of course, the wire is all gauged to a particular value based upon the electronic components on board. The neat thing is it has to handle a 12 volt power supply. Oh, that's under the hood too, isn't it? You got a battery there. Now why did I mention the hood? Well, if I actually wanted to create a directional, yaggy type, or shall we say a dish antenna with a yaggy core, that hood flipped upside down and pointed towards an objective and then say supported by a couple of other nuts, bolts, and screws off the car, especially those that are self-tapping. Guys I could build an antenna utilizing two or three other metal components from under the hood Great dipoles that run across the perpendicular length of primary shaft in the middle of that big dish And guys I just built a directional antenna with junky car parts and a power supply So that I could boost the signal with whatever I've got in the way of a radio that I hook up to that Yagi That's all garbage off the battlefield. Also I can make a real cool Well, kind of like a big ear or two if I want to and with that microphone and that other part I was talking about I could collect a lot more noise with that hood off that car.
