Summary
Mark Koernke discussed operational security, camouflage, and equipment procurement for militia units, with extensive focus on friend-foe identification systems using visual markers, night vision compatibility, and uniform standardization. He addressed border security operations in Texas, criticized poor tactical choices like black uniforms in desert environments, and promoted affordable gear sourcing from resale shops and online retailers like RAP4.com. The show included caller input on reflective patches, IR identification methods, and historical camouflage effectiveness, with emphasis on woodland camouflage and OD green as economical, proven alternatives to modern tactical gear.

VIP membership is radio with benefits. Oh yeah. Your favorite music from around the world right at your fingertips. Exclusive content, unlimited commercial free access. Try it risk free. That's free for five days at live365.com slash VIP. Live 365. Ladies and gentlemen, this is the first hour of the afternoon intelligence report timer. One day closer to victory for all of our brothers and sisters both on and behind the lines in occupied territories west, southwest, east, and north. Well, ladies and gentlemen, you're listening to us on LibertyTreeRadio.4mg.com, IndianaFreedomTalkRadio.com, and We are on AM&FM microstations, CB base stations, and Ultra Net Technologies east west of the Mississippi along with Alaska. We're in the Hallmark network from the top of Maine to the bottom of Florida, from the bottom of Florida across the arc of the Gulf of Mexico. Headed Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Oklahoma, big chunk of Nebraska, a whole bunch of Wyoming to include both the third and fifth of Pitt. In our friends in the recall state of Colorado, waving the left coast where we have the great state of Jefferson, we turn back to the east sweep across the plains leap over the burgeoning banks of the Mississippi and land in the smokies slash the Blue Ridge where the restaurant crews, grandma teams, okay teams, and the Ma Bell Grammar Consortium of retired telecommunications workers bring us the Golden Spike. Many hands make for light work a million petticoat junction operators. The ability to continue to function when everything else is offline. Hey Mark, and that shit sounds like we got Ed there. Okay, there we go No, I have a little you know, I got the new little four-legged helper and he's been up on the mixing board. Oh Yes, pause our us. I just had to figure out what he changed that killed my audio He goes, but I'm curious, I'm helping. He likes sitting on the back of the little mixing board. He's small enough to get back there and there's a warm spot from the power supply and he sleeps right on top of it and he starts pressing buttons. Okay, very good. So we were up and online there. And again, Ed? Uh oh, have Ed come, Ed can jump back up for a minute. Hey, give everybody an update. We have of course the end of the year mission going up. I haven't looked at it yet today, Dad. I don't know if we're up to date, if the site is up to date or not, but if somebody wants to chip in and help out, we are over the $1,000 mark for the end of the year bill. We're trying to raise $3,000 to cover the cost of a new computer to replace one of the older machines here and to pay for our bill for the year, for next year in advance. We try to do that each year. October around the 7th is when the funds for the station stream is due and that's $2,000 of that $3,000 that we're trying to raise. So guys, if you could pitch in. We've had several people who have donated $12. It's just a dollar for each month of the year. Guys, that helps. If we had everybody doing that who's listening, we would reach the goal in no time. Very good. One of the things to remember here, guys, is if everybody just does a little bit, and we actually do have many, many people out there listening. Some are listening in echos, but you know how to get hold of our www.libertyteroradio.4mg.com site and right there on the front of the page right in the middle. There is the entire information necessary where our goal is, where we are, and how to hook up so you can donate. $5 or $12, any amount that you can, a dollar for every month is cool. If everybody did that, everybody listening did that, we'd already be where we need to be right now. Some people have been very, very generous and want to say thank you. If you can see it in your heart to do so, that would be fantastic. I would remind everybody again that there is a lot of work to do to get the job done and we need you to help out. Also, just let Ed know. We have a music package that just came in from Windham, New York. We'll make sure we forward that to Ed as quickly as we can so he's got that in hand. Ed, you've got a package headed your way pretty soon. Will everybody know about that? Let's see one two three four. We've got about four other We are almost in August, September, October. We are only a very short distance away from, as we always are, it is only half a year between each one, Knob Creek Machine Gun Chutes. You need to start planning ahead for that. Colonial Marine Militia National Conference will be there, postings and information, and then using your PIN number to get into the special sites. We'll give you the updates on location for the national conference. Again, www.colonialmarinemilitia.4mg.com. That's colonialmarinemilitia.4mg.com. That's www.colonialmarinemilitia.4mg.com. Take the time to check it out. Updates and upgrades take place accordingly through the Then you have your sub-context through the alternate system that allows you to hook up accordingly. We have a lot more going on there. Our people should be on the ground. I don't know. I haven't seen them today. Our people are back from Texas. I've got a lot of other video and still footage, mostly video to go through. I've actually finished. It was sent to us by the first crew that had to come back because they only had so many days to get me down there. The next group, which is now back, or should be back even as we speak because they are on the road here until just a little bit ago, will have the rest of the video essays giving me a better idea of what areas we may want to plug or how we may want to checkerboard defense the thing initially to get more bodies on the ground. There are a number of different locations down there. Ranchers of course are more than happy to put people on the property. I would recommend that again we all have trades, skilled craftsmen. If we get down there, we don't get down there to loaf off of the property owner. We get down there to work. If we're not patrolling, we're fixing our gear. If we're not fixing our gear, we're improving our positions. If we're not improving our positions, we shouldn't take very long anyway. Then we're improving the ranch. That includes operational security, physical security, the ability for the rancher to know that he'll be able to see what's going on in his perimeter, understand what's transpiring, what's happening. So that's all part of the program. And again, I'll be able to sit down, probably this is share time. I've got to run stuff while I'm doing other things. I'm looking up three more television screens so that I can watch simultaneously and get a better feel in general for all the activities that are done. There are four, five, six different teams of two that spread out and that means they were doing a lot of footage and they did a very short period of time. Anyway, let's see next. One, two, three, four. Let's see, number one, I do want to get this in again. I posted a couple of the links, rap4.com. Now I haven't looked today and if you guys have been buying this stuff, the bad part is they sometimes jack the price. I wanted to double check. Going to www.rap4.com, www.rap4.com. Go to clearance vests, or first clearance, then to clearance vests. Well, they're still $20 apiece. Good. Well, at least the ones that are $20 apiece are $20 apiece. Some of them are more. OK, don't be surprised. But they're $20 apiece. They have 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7. Yeah, it looks like 7. Ooh, one of them sold out all the way, obviously, because they've taken it off of the, uh, wow. You guys already cleared some of them out. One of the CAD paths is already gone. There are two ACU, two Woodland, and one Multicam slash eight color camouflage. That's a no name brand Multicam for everybody that's out there. $20 a vest and again guys, price is right. They're a MOLLE type system. Unsnap, unclip, and reconfigure however you want to. It doesn't matter how long it takes for you to turn around and get the job done. Again, that's www.rap4.com. Their phone number is 1-800-727-7347. Again, they've got CAD-PAT, it's like the Norwegian pine camouflage, but it's in digital. The ACU, everybody knows ACU or should by now. Two variations on the Woodland camo vest, definitely worth picking up. Or you can go with the eight color camouflage slash multicam. If your unit uses multicam down there on the border, there's the solution. Put multicam on people who don't have multicam yet. Again, personal choice. Units should be standard. One of the things I noticed, and I did post a comment, some of the pictures from the guys down there on the border. What in the hell is it with this black shirt in a desert environment? or hotter than blazes, I mean, and 90 to 100 degrees, lose the black shirts. So I can even send the comment, I'll send gear down, I'll send equipment down if we have a viable unit that we can lend support to, but don't ask me for anything black, I'll slap you. I won't send anything. Okay, everybody understand that? You're down on the border, it's hot, it is rotten, black is a stupid color on the border. It is a, oh, so you want to sweat and I'm supposed to feel bad about that? Well, it is a great exercise program. If you either want to lose a lot of water weight, hey, put some black on your hind end. It will sweat you up real quick. Of course, now if you collapse in the process for a lack of moisture, even though you are sucking some water in maybe, maybe, I'm not going to feel sorry for you. Now there's another thing, and this is what I pointed out in the image. It's a great article. OK, fantastic. Go to a resale shop. One cool thing about resale shops, like our Salvation Army and just our general resale shops, everybody likes to sort by color, which is really cool. Do you know if I was in a hurry and I needed to grab a bunch of uniforms to outfit troops, they get all the tan all together. Whole row of tan pants. There are so many of those stinking tan pants out there. They are everywhere. If I really was in a hurry, I would say, hey, come over here. How much is going to charge me if I bought every stinking pants, all the pants on this row? What do you give me as a set price? I just buy them all. Grab all the green, OD green for instance, all the OD green garbage in the room, in the store. It's on the racks, it's already sorted, I don't care what size, there's going to be some of it's going to be big big, some of it's going to be small small, and some of it's going to be in between. But the cool thing is that OD green, whatever you do, you go to the resale shop, pick a top. Whatever you're doing for a bottom, fine. Pick a top and everybody wears the same color. Go to Wally World. Go find whatever tactical colored shirt, not black. And grab it, snag it. You go to any number of different spots, but everybody's got the same shirt. Now why is that? In fact, the head gear should be the same too. Why? Shoot, no shoot. Friend foe. Shoot, no shoot. Friend foe. Shoot, no shoot. Friend foe. Common sense. Okay, and again, well, if you change stuff out, then buy more junk. You know, example, let me know what pattern you need down there. It's like we did out west, okay, out with the Bundy situation. We picked a certain color, we stuck with it. Three-colored desert, why? It works out there. So here we are down at the border. If you've got a unit deployed in a ranch and what? There are short people with heart, but they don't have all the equipment they need. If we can know where to focus, we'll drop it at them. I'm not going to spend, no you're not going to get $100 a top, $100 a bottom spiffy cam. You're going to get equipment that will work. It will all be the same pattern and it will all be in good sizes so it actually fits big Americans. Of course if you wear black long enough it won't be very big. I mean you will be sweating stuff out. If you're looking to do that, get a sweat top. Go get some real athlete sweat tops out there. Start sweating yourself off. You're trying to lose some wet weight that way. Go ahead and do that. Again, black is bad. Black is a really bad choice. Any time this summer, even up there, I laugh at these cops all wearing the black uniforms now. It's like, what? That's why they have the windows rolled up on the AC, running the motors and the gas running constantly. Taxpayers are paying for it, so they don't care. Go ahead, call her. Jump in there. Yes. How do you shoot, no shoot with night vision? How do you identify your... Light Dark Colors or use Arm Markers or Unit Markers. In Night Vision, one of the things we have talked about is, remember it doesn't have to be a reflector tag. In order for it to show up, there are lighteners, brighteners and enhancers or a very high polyester blend anything. actually offers a certain amount of illuminescence. See, that's probably the way to describe it. See, that's probably the way to describe it. See, that's probably the way to describe it. See, that's probably the way to describe it. See, that's probably the way to describe it. See, that's probably the way to describe it. See, that's probably the way to describe it. See, that's probably the way to describe it. See, that's probably the way to describe it. See, that's probably the way to describe it. See, that's probably the way to describe it. See, that's Otherwise, it's, oh he's one of ours. In fact, we were joking because they did bring that up in Iraq. No, the ACU uniformers don't work that well in most places, but the idea was that we can see who our guys are so we'll know who to shoot and who not to shoot. So they actually brought that up, what I'm talking about. The problem is, everybody can see them, including the other people who were trying to shoot them. So it kind of defeats the purpose. It's not blending in. It's not camouflage. It's shoot me-flage. Now that's where you have to be careful. And with the shoot, no shoot, friend-fro technique for instance, well let's go cheap and low end. Down there were the Mexican farmers. They had enough with all the cartels. They started shooting the snot out of them. Remember I mentioned this, in the first few days they were armed with single shot shotguns, pump guns, and whatever else they scavenged. After the first engagement, two things happen. Number one, their weapon systems upgrade is dramatic because, gee, now they're capturing or they're pulling out of the mountain balls, carbines, AKs, and you know, whatever. And you know, AR-15s, M16s, probably real M16s. If you look, one of the things you'll see is armbands. But how were the armbands? Well, what they did is they took safety tape, like say police zone or caution, the black and yellow tape, plastic, cut off about a foot section and tied to their epulets on the top of their shoulders each side on the barrels, on the end of their, in front of the site on the AR-15 or the AK, between the flash hider and the site. And they put these tapes in prominent places where everybody knew what they meant. And that's shoot, no shoot. But that's on the crude. In other words, it's like, well, everybody knows. See this? We got it. They don't. If you're not wearing this, you're not one of us. What do you think of a signal over the microphone system, like six clicks? After you hear six clicks, wave your hand. That way, if I'm looking through the scope, after six clicks, I could see you waving your hands and then I know it's you. That works. That works. But you see what you should do is have it set up as an SOP. You know, hey, give me a confirm. In other words, what you do is you send out click, click, click, click, four clicks, and whoever hears that, when everybody hears that, you put your right hand up. Now, let me tell you a reason for that. I've infiltrated, for instance, with the state police on two different operations. What we did is we listened in. They are unbreakable encryption for their radio. Typically we can de-encrypt it within about 50 to 56 seconds. Seriously. They are unencryptable. I'll just tell you flat out, we did it. What we are doing is we are listening to their individual personal tactical radio net. Now, one time I was infiltrating, myself and one of my other scouts, he might even be listening, probably is listening right now, he's chuckling right now, we were infiltrating between a field unit that was moving to the east and a fixed location that was occupied by about 23, 24 people. It was the center of that control area. It was part of a general operation where they deployed close to 260 people overall. Now, at a given point, trying to infiltrate as far as we could to see probing is what you are doing when you are reconned. Somebody had probably seen this and they squawked over the radio exactly the way you are. You know, put your hand up and wave at it. Are you over there? And such and such. The character that responded was beyond us. In other words, we were between the line of sight between A and B and we were half an A. In other words, the C is farther out. We are B. They can see us and I can see down into the valley where this other group is that they are talking to. So when they said raise your right hand and wave at me, well I heard that over the radio so immediately I didn't jump up. I just did. Right where I was, I put my right hand in the air and I waved. And did you see me? That was from C. And A goes, yeah, I see you. Do it again. So I waved again. Of course, he can't see. A can only observe C. All they can see is us. Actually, he can only see part of me and they can see the helmet of the person behind me and to my right. That was enough. Okay, confirm. Continue with the sweep. They were sweeping down in the valley, which we knew where they were. We knew everybody was. We were trying to do. is completely probe and infiltrate. See how many points of infiltration we could develop, which by the way we did extensively. Now, later on they were chasing us with the dogs, but that was again because we were aggressively patrolling. But that was almost a full day later into the evening hours when the dogs were finally after us. But by that time we had moved completely through the area, infiltrated extensively. The first rule is key components that we were wearing were unique to us. All of our people knew who we were with our mobile unit moving in, our center unit. They were set up with a completely different friend-fo system and they were of course the fixed location that everybody was focusing on. I knew who all of our mobile people were. I knew how many people I had out there and I could pretty well head count them within a very short period of time with our Radionet. So the biggest problem with trying to get six clicks and raise your hand, it has to be predetermined that what you do is you generate the clicks. Now the way to do it is any even number or you can put any, the problem with trying to make it too complicated is willing to have people remember or count. So any combination of say greater than six even, so in other words one, two, three, four, five, six, or one, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight. out of the blue and then do it again. Just so it's like, oh, is that some random noise? But when you do that, or if somebody's doing that that you're spotter, and you're observing, when everybody raises their hand, as long as their radio equipment is working, then you can pretty well confirm who's who in the zoo. The biggest problem at night is, while you would prefer to be really well spread out, you have to tighten up to a degree because infiltration between team members is not hard. I've done it many, many, many, many, many times. In fact, I've had people walk on me. The important thing is not to say anything. I'm serious. In fact, what's fascinating is because of the way people's night vision and even their technical night vision, either they're organic or their electric night vision works because of their peripheral vision, because of the limitations of the equipment, typically people when they see an obstruction will step over automatically. Kind of like a horse. A horse senses that something is there. They don't want to splot on it, so they'll step over it. Now it doesn't mean they'll do that every time. Hey, they're not perfect. Nobody is. But typically, the horse is conditioned to try and find sure footing. And anything that appears to be an obstacle, they try to avoid dropping their clot on. And people do the same thing. So his friend Foehling has to be very careful at night. Your best bet is, well even the military, let me put it this way, the Brits. You know what they're doing right now? I can show you examples. I have their uniforms right here. The Brits are stitching on IR, well reflective, okay but it's passive reflective. Right, Pat. Little balls, they put one on the shoulder on the left, one on the shoulder on the right, and they've got one on the If you are over-seizing the other side, the other side does not have as much. or even if he does. The idea is that anybody that's got your troops has a reflector on. So when you hit the button, everybody that's lit up is friendly. Everybody standing out there that's not lit up is probably not. They might be all standing relatively close together. So at the possibility of compromising your personal security, the idea is that the overall unit security is maintained. There's where the balance is. The problem is if the other side figures that out, I'd be out there with IR illuminators that just go off randomly and I'd be watching with passive infrared and boom, I'd be hunting your arse big time. Now again, you can't tell me that they don't have night vision. There's too much of it out there. The only thing is that they've got mostly kids that we've put in sandals running around murdering the second generation of people we've been murdering in Iraq for how long? Now they're getting murdered by one of our new allies, ISIS. Oh, now they're not our allies. Now they're the terrorists we made them to be. But imagine how much night vision technology they're picking up because at least China's dumping it there. So it's not even for the third world operations. Are we seeing night vision being as scarce or being as lopsided as people might expect? We need to catch up. That's what we need to do. Go ahead. What about maybe some kind of face paint camo that's passive that It would have a pattern, yes. You want to see an example of that? You're on the money on that because it also works with shoot, no shoot. Go to Mexican Military on Parade. When you watch their national parade, look at all the still images, take a look at their commando units and how their face paints set up. Also about the infrared dots, animal eyes, maybe the enemy won't shoot at them if you have them placed in a certain pattern. Put them up in small size. That would be an option. That would actually work. Actually, the way to do that would be to put a little glass bead in front of it. If you're thinking that way, just think about how you see when you hit an animal how they glow. If you went to an arts and crafts supply, which by the way they are all over the country, you get those flat glass beads, not really big, not one inch or three quarters of an inch, you know, small, but you put a set of them side by side, yeah that would work. Put that over top of your reflector, it would still reflect, but it would create that bunny glow, that rat glow, that possum eyeball set. Right, it's kind of like wearing the head of the animal. Yeah, exactly, and remember too where it's got that glass, If they move, because they're going to go, or if you move, it actually is going to create the same effect as the lensing effect of the animal's eye when activated, along with the luminescence behind it from the reflective surface of the eye, when you do hit it in the field, which creates greater confidence that maybe I don't want to waste a round or expose myself where I am looking for somebody if you're the other side. Because everybody's hunting everyone there, and not making noise and not attracting attention is the first rule of getting the best shot off. It makes it very easy to hunt the bad guys if they have theirselves IR'd up all over. Then you know your people aren't IR'd and you use a microphone quicker like the World War II clickers. Yeah, and well not only that but you could do some other mean things. What about an IR? Here's the fun one. We could actually do, just like we were, you know, they do these all over the place. They're called blinkies. And you put a little magnet on an LED, a magnet attached to a watch battery, a big watch battery with a big nickel size. They're cheap. You can buy a China Sport cards of them for like $50 for a dollar, $40 for a dollar, $30 for a dollar. Well, what you do is you get a bunch of these IR blinkers, create a little tag that could go on your equipment that would be, again, it's an IR, not a blinker, just an IRLED. And all you do is hit a switch when they want activation and everybody tags for a moment. And bing, bing, bing, bing, bing. Well, I got six of them that are mine and four of them that certainly are not. And an exacto- Yeah, so they can turn off and on. Yeah, it would be arbitrary. In other words, the problem with the reflectors that I see is anybody who wants to light them up can light them up. And if light light works just as well, this is that diamond glass bead reflector material. What they do is cut in a little circle and hand stitch these on. I've got several examples, both on the windlass, the battle shirts and rip stop, and others. It's all upper torso. I've not seen them on the pants, but it wouldn't surprise me if they put them on the left and right thigh outboard. That gets a little excessive. Also the problem with putting on pants is you've got long coats as you can see that are parka sized like the wind proof coats. They're long, so they go down almost to the knee. That covers anything you might put in place where it could be seen anyway. The shirts on the other hand, because the hot weather, even at night, we're running around in a ripstop, sure it is most likely. Go ahead. Are there any threads that would show up if you'd vote slow patches on? It'd be very faint, I was thinking, a thread that would be infrared. Oh yeah, well the other part about that is if there's any kind of illumination or any, even with regular like, starlight that would be available, The high polyester threads will reflect to a degree, but it works kind of like fiber optic. So any light that's out there, that can be done. The other option there would be, when I say high polyester, let's qualify that first of all. Most of the thread you're going to run into is built to the same spec as the uniforms you're wearing. It's 50-50 cotton polyester blend. The welt though is quite extensive. It's a micro fine welt for each of the strands. And those are of course welt that spun together. And that's a very specific thread built to a government spec that was established hell, probably seven, eight years ago. Even though they used other materials, the basic dimensions are the same for tensile strength. Polyester, though, the big thing is polyester is cheaper than cotton because there's lots of junk plastic around. In fact, with the Chinese, who says they're using polyester? I mean, it's halfway around the world and they can label whatever they want. Who's going to come after them? So the higher you go into the polyester range, like 70, 30, which is not uncommon, With a lot of different materials will usually incorporate even Kevlar Let me give an example if you ever tried to break or if you ever bought a skein of upholstery thread made for the automotive industry You know it looks like it works like piano wire You want to take someone's head off and make a garat make it with that You won't break it. You can't break it. It is industrial it is tougher than you know it is tough as wire and That stuff though, because it is the higher, you know, in the eams, it's got more plastic in it. That would be more reflective and would actually show up. So that's one of the things you have to take into consideration even when you're doing your gear. How do, you know, what do you use to stitch? Well, you want to make sure you know what your cloth is doing, what you're, and what your materials are doing. But high polyester would do that. Right now, for instance, that's one thing, you know, thank you for bringing this up because we just had this discussion. A lot of these unit patches, we've got to be careful guys, a lot of people want some really nice embroidered patches. A lot of the patches will stand out right now and do that because of the nature of the material that they're stitched with. So you have to pay attention to that. If you have them custom made like outside and somebody has their own stitching, the colors you're going to want to use first of all is the thread designed to be luminescent to a degree anyway because they're trying to again project the color. Remember it is an embroidery machine that is trying to dazzle you. Any of the threads that are built for that typically are the higher polyester. I won't say all of them, but a big chunk of them. It is purely a matter of what the guy that has the machine where he buys it from. That is one of the things we have had happen before where we have taken this stuff out. In fact, Don would pretty well test that because we experimented years ago when he did the first night vision video. Which is part one of the you know the two that he's done We're trying to get him out for number three here shortly. I gotta get them before we hit winner The the certain patches guys had patches made by you know custom machine machine companies here But they were athletic and they want bright and they want resilient and they want it so it gets dirty You slide into home base. You don't want the thread to powder out or or rough out You don't need it subdued you want it bright and right? Because of that, the threat has to be durable and to a degree reflective slash luminescent. Well, that's what a lot of these guys went to with these sports companies to do their patches and that's what they got. So it's already an issue. In fact, there should be some videos maybe floating around YouTube. I haven't really looked that hard for that. Well, before you saw them on, take a sample and see how it looks with the night vision and two other things and I'll bow out. I ended up finding at the dollar store the treble hooks. big size number two treble hooks and on your shirts you're talking about if you can't find the color you want don't forget you can also dye those all the same beauty color. The thing is you can also pick a bastard like a good Walmart and they've got a tactical color or not a completely tactical color it's like it's a field color but it's an odd one. Okay, well it's a $3 or $4 t-shirt. Oh, they're horrible. They're not real high quality. But if you're gonna wear a t-shirt for patrolling, pick that color. Nobody else is gonna just run out and grab it. It's all very uniform. They're all new. Even if they only lasted for so long and you have to turn them into rifle cleaning rags later, they're there for a purpose. They serve their purpose while you're wearing them. And if you withdraw them and then decide to just put them in reserve as spare, you know, whatever, you got them. But that would be an option and it is light light chance you can I pretty well plus also if you get a bunch of oversized whites like I've got at the dollar store oversized white Baker's pants brand-new over dollar I use suspenders to use it as my snow cam on I got the White smocks at the dollar store for the doctor's big kind of things those are your snow things I'll talk to you later number four out from Syracuse, New York. Thank you. Bye. Thank you for the input sir. I appreciate that Go ahead, call or jump in there. Please, go right ahead. Hey, you were talking about the eye of reflective tabs on uniforms. Have you read the Mason Dixon Tactical blog? No, I'll go ahead. In fact, hold on here. Let me just a second. Mason Dixon Tactical, it's a WordPress blog. There was an article just done recently on taking the old, you know how we used to use cat eyes in the old days, turning the back of a cat. This is an adaptation where you're using Velcro. You have cat eyes on one side. Most of the guys in the unit do not have night vision. They still have the ability to be able to see the guy in front of them in heavy terrain. Also, you can flip it over and use the ILR flare tab. That way, most of you have night vision. You have that and it's passive, completely passive as opposed to the cat eyes. the whole patch off so you have nothing on the back of your cap but give away anything. Exactly. One of the things to remember is there's a number of different systems with the helmets. We could even put a spare band right up inside the helmet itself. Inside. Right. Basically, we used to flip the bands over if we didn't want the cat eyes to be seen. Exactly. But like I said, this is just an adaptation of the old system we used to have. where you can completely remove it, you can have it on cations on one side, you can have the oil on the other. It's just a lot more flexible on your equipment. Again, the big thing here is we've got the materials and grab them while we can by the roll. Usually you can find the material. It's hard to find the old cation because remember that was self-charging luminism. Actually, look it up on Amazon. and you can still get the cateye tape by the roll. That's what we need. Yep, that's it. In fact, they got some not too long ago and it's actual tape so you can leave it together for sewing onto something or you can peel the back off and actually stick it onto stuff like we used to do on the inside of rucksack frames where we could put our name on it and you could find it in the dark. You put the cateye tape on the flat piece of frame, you write your name on it with a sharpie, then you put clear acetate over top of it so it doesn't rub off, and you can see it, you can find it in the dark. And I know that's mine. Exactly. Well, the other thing about this is, again, for our quartermasters listening, or anybody who's doing a 5-10 program, these are things to put on the shelf, guys. One role we can make go a long ways. pretty much anything we think about when we're looking at purchasing, try to go bulk, try to go volume wherever we can. I haven't looked that hard, but I would think with all the other goofy duct tapes that I've seen recently, I don't know if you've noticed this in the hardware, but the designer chic duct tapes are coming out in every flavor, every color, and every variation in usage, and I don't know if they've done night glow or not. I haven't believed that I have seen 550 cord. I actually have some 550 cord that I got that has reflective thread in it. It also has glow in the dark thread in it throughout the 550 cord. So we actually use it on trees for going out and laying out courses at night. That way if you get close enough you can see it from probably about 15 to 20 feet away, the glow part. And from probably 50 meters away you can see the reflected part of the user light, even a red light. Excellent. Well, there's nothing we can track down a source for because if we can find out who's making it, then we can probably track it down to the job brand. Well, I know that Supply Captain is the one that I got it from. And I would imagine they still have some of it. I think some of it actually was discontinued. I'm not sure if it was the reflective or the glow in the dark that was discontinued. But like I said, the Mason Dixon Tactical blog, there's a bunch of stuff on there that, you know, adaptations, modifications for rucksacks, gear, modifications for gear, slings, all that stuff. If you check it out, a lot of guys, it's It helps you out. It's a lot cheaper than going out and buying your tactical single point bungee sling that's used by the Delta Ninja Seal Rangers. Creative and again, well, wait, but if they're not using it, why should I? Well, you know, it is. Marketing, marketing, marketing. And our supply captain also has the Velcro, the wide strips of Velcro, the adhesive Velcro in I SupplySergeant.com I think also is one that has some pretty good price on gear and gear availability obviously for uniform stuff. Very good. Well I'll have to check them out because that's one I haven't been to yet and again there's so many corners and places where we're going to find sources. A lot of the older men who had even been in surplus for 40, 50, I mean literally 50 years, I have disappeared. My assumption is the company wasn't picked up or was bought out. probably buy somebody else as the guy's retired. The old ones were always the best ones because this stuff piles up. We have a location down in Louisville that is a watering hole like this. The gentleman is my age, probably listening right now in Chucklin. They built the company up in Civil War era warehouse slash factory buildings. Then moved out to a new warehouse that they built. If you were looking for the multiples of the World War II, Korea, Vietnam era stocks, You know, like the cloth, the thread and all the components. He was the man to go to. Plus he gave us a hell of a buy on body armor. We buy 20,000, 30,000 fed vests at a time. They were about $35 a piece. Chicken plates were reasonable. Hard chicken plates. You know, shock armor. The thing is that the stuff is out there and that's why we need to find it again so people can access it because there's no reason for us not to be squared away. A lot of people try to discount what a lot of people tell me is considered old school. Well, I consider it that was my school. And the things that we used worked. I always use woodland camouflage. Why? Because I used it for a quarter of a century and it's worked. If it's stupid, it isn't stupid. So anybody who wants to discount woodland camouflage, well, you know, tell them you can talk to Woodland or whatever it would be, you go talk to plenty of tough veterans, ranger veterans and all that have used those particular patterns in the jungle and everything, it works. And these guys that all want to go multicam, well I hate to tell them, but yeah, multicam works pretty good in a bunch of places, but the bad guys are going to be wearing it. Do you really want someone to misidentify you as one of the bad guys? Because of the pattern of clothing you're wearing. Exactly. One of the things to remember about Woodland is, remember Ranger and... At the time, well, Marines kind of overlapped the two both Marine and Ranger units in the middle of Vietnam started to issue out woodland camouflage. Ranger had its own, obviously Marine had its own. Army didn't really catch up. Obviously, OD Green was in massive quantity and still in the wash and dry and self-folding. right up through the seventies. I was some of the last stuff in the last of the OD Green. The big thing is that the uniforms work. They work in service well. The available stuff right now that I'm seeing come out if you were going to try and put a unit together. Woodland is the most economical. It's readily available, consistent for a number of even though it's a number of different countries. Right now you can get Serbian, Croatian, French, American Woodland. and it all is in the same camp, it's all in the same general pattern, the China Sport, Assault Vest and all the other stuff we're talking about, which are more than serviceable enough if you don't think they're going to hold up by a second one when they're $20 apiece. But the Woodland, if you want to put a complete system together, The esprit de corps issue is taken care of. You're all squared away. You look strapped. The US government junk is piled up in Woodland right now, but it's in pieces. Like I was saying, the knee pads from one location, elbow pads from another, booney hats, patrol hats, helmet covers, you name it. There is no reason for you not to look better than the average American soldier going to the field because half of them aren't squared away. If you get your gear in OD green or coyote brown, it works fine with woodland camouflage. Whereas if you... I'm big on trying to have solid colors and gear, even in different color pockets, but solid colors because it will go with any color uniform you're using pretty much. You can get a can of crayon to fix it as far as the blending. The OG, ironically, I mean, Wincor had their woodland camouflage in Vietnam and into the early 80s. But then the Ranger Battalion went back to OD and went up to about 92. They were the only ones using it. We used OD Green Watch in reconnaissance, mainly for identification purposes. But that was the standard. OD and woodland, they worked for decades. So it didn't automatically, unless the environment completely changed that I was unaware of, they still worked today just as well as they did that. I think the biggest thing is that we're almost at the top anyway. Thank you sir, appreciate that. Roger. For everybody out there listening again, it is Monday, but I'll tell you what, it's been a long weekend by the way. In fact, I wasn't really thinking this was Monday initially, even though last night yesterday rolled one day into the next. We've been kind of up most of the evening. into the we are as well. Most of the we are is the morning too. But for everybody out there guys, again the technology is available that works. It's old really, is it? There's nothing that we're looking or talking about here that's outdated. It's all serviceable material and equipment. It'll get the job done. Most important is it's typically built better because it was built when it was in an earlier age. Most of the stuff has been thinned out and thinned out and thinned out. Hell, take a look at pop cans right now. Give me a break. But that's true of most everything else the same way. It's a reflection of your society at this point in time. God bless the Republic. A figure walked in through the mist with a flintlock in his hand. His clothes were torn and dirty as he stood there by my bed. He took off his three-cornered hat and speaking low to me, he said, we've fought a revolution to secure our liberty. We wrote the Constitution as a shield from tyranny. For future generations, this legacy we gave. In this, the land of the free and home of the brave. The freedoms we secured for you we hoped you'd always keep. The tyrants labored endlessly while your parents were asleep. Your freedom's gone, your courage lost, you're no more than a slave. In this the land of the free and home of the brave. You buy permits to travel and permits to own a gun. Permits to start a business or to build a place for one. On land that you believe you own, you pay a yearly rent. Although you have no voice in saying how the money is spent, your children must attend a school that doesn't educate, and your Christian values can't be taught according to the state. You read about the current news in a regulated press, and you pay a tax you do not owe to please the IRS. Your money is no longer made of silver nor of gold. You trade your wealth for paper so your life can be controlled. You pay for crimes that make our nation turn from God and shame. You've taken Satan's number. You've traded in your name. You've given government control to those who do you harm so they could burn down churches and seize the family farm and keep our country deep in debt. Put men of God in jail. Harash your fellow countrymen while corrupted courts prevail. Your public servants don't uphold the solemn oaths they've sworn. And your daughters visit doctors, so their children won't be born. Your leaders send artillery and guns to foreign shores, and send your sons to slaughter fighting other people's wars. Can you regain the freedoms for which we fought and died? Or don't you have the courage or the faith to stand with pride? And are there no more values for which you'll fight to save? Or do you wish your children to live in fear and be a slave? O sons of the Republic, arise, take a stand, defend the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the land, preserve our great Republic and each God-given right, and pray to God to keep the torture freedom burning bright. As I awoke, he vanished in the mist from whence he came. His words were true, we are not free, but we have ourselves to blame. For even now is tyrant
