Mark Koernke discussed gun confiscation efforts, particularly Connecticut's failed magazine registration program which netted only 40,000 magazines against an estimated 1 million, and analyzed the logistics of nationwide gun seizures using mathematical comparisons across multiple states. He addressed the State of the Union address and executive orders, explaining that while executive orders can theoretically be challenged, the Republican party has failed to do so. The show featured extensive discussion of communications equipment including military PRC-8/9/10 backpack radios, handheld tactical radios like Baofeng models available through radio-buy.com, and DIY backpack radio systems using solar panels and 12-volt batteries for preparedness. Callers contributed technical details about radio specifications, accessories, and field applications.
Live 365. But tyrants labored endlessly while your parents were asleep. Your freedom's gone, your courage lost, you're no more than a slave. In this the land of the free and home of the brave. You buy permits to travel and permits to own a gun. Permits to start a business or to build a place for one. On land that you believe you own, you pay a yearly rent. Although you have no voice in saying how the money's spent. Your children must attend a school that doesn't educate and your Christian values can't be taught according to the state You read about the current news in a regulated press and you pay a tax you do not owe to please the IRS Your money is no longer made of silver nor of gold you trade your wealth for paper so your life can be controlled You pay for crimes that make our nation turn from God and shame You've taken Satan's number. You've traded in your name. You've given government control to those who do you harm so they could burn down churches and seize the family farm and keep our country deep in debt. Put men of God in jail. Harash your fellow countrymen while corrupted courts prevail. Your public servants don't uphold the solemn oaths they've sworn. And your daughters visit doctors so their children won't be born. Your leaders send artillery and guns to foreign shores and send your sons to slaughter fighting other people's wars. Can you regain the freedoms for which we fought and died? Or don't you have the courage or the faith to stand with pride? And are there no more values for which you will fight to save? Or do you wish your children to live in fear and be a slave? O sons of the Republic, arise, take a stand, defend the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the land, preserve our great Republic and each God given right, and pray to God, keep the torture freedom bright. And the date today is? It is the 28th day of January, year of our Lord 2014. It's a Tuesday. It's Communications Tuesday as a matter of fact and it has been a very busy day already. We run over a lot of technology here and picking up and looking at some really cool stuff that has been available here locally guys. Again, part of our radio net, Captain Nutt. is already on down the road and getting ready to set stuff up for this evening. Tomorrow, of course, we have the eagle and slash the slash also the possum net. It'll be up tomorrow afternoon and evening, so they're going to be participating in that. communications Tuesday, but I think tonight we've got the Pelican meeting. I think, no, no, it's the sea lion. I'm a aquatic animal. I would throw him another fish. What's funny is I don't think very many people are even yapping about it, and intelligently so because why bother? Well, you know what we're talking about here, you guys. We're talking about the State of the Dysfunctional Union address. Exactly. So for everybody out there, again, just tell everybody the same thing. Hey, go plug into the alternate media, plug into the Patriot networks out there. Watch what's going on there. Ignore old Boo Boo Head in Washington. Okay, let's see. What are the variations he can do? He's going to be obviously spouting off and yapping about grabbing the guns. Good, go for it. Okay. Everybody out there, he's just telling them, go for it. More on that in a minute. Other than that, it's just going to be a sea lion session where everybody's, or, or, or, or, or, and then they kind of sit down and they stand up and, or, or, or, or, and they sit up and stand up and they get out and it's so confusing after a while. Some of them don't know if they should stand up or sit down. Some of them don't know if they should. Or clap at this or clap at that. Yeah. Or if they should clap when the other side of the chamber is clapping. That's funny unto itself. And some... sit on your hands. Go ahead, Ed. Well, they're trying to get people to tune into that by claiming that Obama's leaked that he's going to sign an executive order during the State of the Union to increase the minimum wage. For federal employees. For federal contractors, which even there everybody is saying it's like, so it's desperately trying to show that, well this communist is going to run as a dictator. Remember, communist dictators, just two words, dick and tater. Picture the first word, your choice, but imagine a potato with a hole in it and what probably would go in the hole. Dick, tater. Mark. We had a caller, go ahead, who do we have? Hi Mark, this is Sean in Sheep Cattle, Washington, on the left coast. Hey, Washingtonite's ObamaVision would be equivalent to a waste of electricity on my smart meter. And I think I'd rather watch the king take a poop and watch the servant clean it up. Exactly. I think it is. When you mention waste of time, that is. Who cares? It's a fiction. It's like it's to the point where, oh my goodness, by the way, why, when you're done... Bringing new meaning, pardon me, but bringing new meaning to the phrase, pay no attention to that man behind the curtain. That's right. Because if you know about ancient architecture, they didn't have plumbing. And they didn't have rooms that were designated for bathrooms. You'd just step over there behind the curtain, and then the chambermaid would clean it up if you were king. Hopefully, aim for something to put it in, but sometimes not so much. Especially if you were king, you could just do what you want. After all, someone else would be picking it up. Well, on that note, we know that it's not worth the trouble. The interesting thing is, by the way, we talked about these bolt carriers. I was going to bring them up again this afternoon. Shame on you people. You bought them all out. Oh, darn. Okay, this happens. All those bolt carriers that were available, and by the way, there were over about 100 of them that were available this morning. Cool. Apparently, there aren't that left now. They sold out sometime midday because I went back and checked and they had them Halfway through the day, but apparently you guys just scarf those up real quick So we won't worry about those bolt carriers named surplus. They're gone. Okay, at least the ones for $79.95 now when that they have another one and I don't think so I think that's pretty well it but That's cool. That means you guys are doing what you're supposed to do before I leave aimed surplus. I would bring up the fact that They also have Mackerel, pistol ammunition, it's silver bear, huggy bear, brown bear, whatever it is. It's got a bear on it. Oh, it's silver bear, which means it's zinc coated, I would assume. It's a mackerel of ammo. It used to be the stuff that was 3 cents and 4 cents around. Well, now it's about $13, $14 a box. Well, $14 a box, $13.95. But they do have it in stock, so for a lot of people, they ask me about mackerel of ammo. There's another choice, and that's AIMS Surplus. One of the reasons that again they just passing you know in mentioned passing the dunderhead which it's not worth our time It's obvious that they're gonna start pushing the he can play dictator. That's two words dick and tater The tater has a hole in it you figure out what goes in the hole with the first word is it's real straightforward, okay? But the notice is out among Homeland Security and this has gone out to the Michigan DNR, Michigan State Police that they're all to get ready for gun grabbing. In fact, there's been a whole ripple through the machine, guys. So I would give everybody a heads up to start talking to your local police and your county deputies and, man, I heard all about that gun grab thing that they sent through the NCIC about going after the guns and trying to rally the troops to kick in doors in America. Well, let's do a little math on something here. And this is really probably the most critical because It's not the only state, in fact it's not demographically, it's one of the smaller states, okay? It has a medium to small population. It certainly has a couple of urban centers, but no bigger or smaller than the rest of you all across the country. Okay, and that's the state of Connecticut. Now we've been talking about and a lot of other people have posted up the articles in the last couple of days from the trenches world report. Henry's done a great job there. But there have been other sites. Everybody's picked up on the idea that they're proposing amnesty in Connecticut. Now meanwhile through the whole of the system, they're sending this out about get the guns, get the guns, get the guns. This has all been going on for the last 24 hours. It is in the NCI seats. Yeah, it's showing up on their laptops kind of like advertising, Don. with the cops out here in dextre and places around the county's and around the state county here we know better shadow without somebody said somebody side to get disgusted and show somebody something here and here well the n c i see you they're pushing through homeland security get the guns get the guns get the guns okay now i did a piece here a couple years ago called killing the borg myth with numbers you know it's beautiful resist you'll be observed the borg from you know uh... from star trek So let's do some math here. Now the bad guys proposed that they believe that they really, really, really were shorted on the number of mags that everybody was supposed to report for the gun magazine and magazine registration in Connecticut. Now they only had 40,000 magazines that people acknowledged that they had. Okay. They estimate that they should have had a million mags acknowledged. Now, read that they were getting ready to tax them. They're going to tax them to death. But right now they can't really throw that card on the table because they got less than 3% of what was even near what they expected to be able to snatch and grab and tax and then steal later. Now, we should point out that only 50,000 people registered quote-unquote assault weapons slash air fifteen type rifles or whatever was on the ban list mostly air fifteen's by the looks of a day okay and to make it right but let's do some math here now guys they're saying that five fifty thousand people reported they say that that number is way off from what they know or out there the way guns which means that they've already done through homeland security uh... of course claiming the homeland security in the hf would never do this that they cross referenced with guns sold in Connecticut with all the FFLs and mail order through FFLs and stuff like that. So the rats from the Insta-Check system know how many Insta-Check weapons were already asked for. Phone call to purchase. Yeah, but they would never keep that. That's because the Israelis and the British do it for them. Now let's do some math. Only 40,000 mags were registered while 50,000 rifles were registered. About 10,000 men are short there, huh? Now, here's the kicker. That's if everybody would agree that you only had one magazine per rifle. Everybody out there, you all know that you're trying to be conservative. So I know that everybody out there listening only has one magazine per rifle, right? Just as conservative as you can get. Now, let's be honest. How many people out there, when they had those $3 and $4 and $5 thermal mags, may have bought a whole case of them? How many people bought as many $7 mags as they could before they went to 10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, you know, etc. Okay? Good action here. All kinds of people did. Right? So do you think, let's say that there's 10, okay, this is a fact, if there's 50,000, you think each one of those 8Ks or ARs has 10 mags out there for it? Or more. At least. In other words, 10 mags would be, I wouldn't even say that's realistic because the prices were reasonable enough and people have procured enough that if we just go by what they're saying, by what we would estimate to be normal, and there's 50,000 evil assault type weapons that were registered. You have to understand that these are gun owners in a state that used to be one of the colonies. Counterbalancing those that don't believe in that same state that man has right to own a gun. Now 50, let's see, 50,000 times 10, well how many is that? Uh, 500. 500,000 magazines? Now, of course, we still haven't got to that halfway mark, you know, we got just to the halfway mark for the million mags they expected. So we're looking at them expecting everybody to have 20 mags per weapon for the ones that, of course, and let's remind somebody of this too, that these are the mag weapons that had to be registered. We're not talking other weapons, which by the way are off the books, shotguns, bolt-action rifles, .22s of all other categories. And the semi-automatics are the minority. of the arms that are out there despite what everybody would be led to believe by Hollywood but they're still a big chunk of the weapons and they're an example of the weapons that we'll be going into combat with. Now guys, this is a state that right off the bat, you're looking at them acknowledging a million mags. They say a million mags. We know it's higher than that. They're acknowledging that they got way below the number of weapons that they expected. That's only an eight-county state, guys. That's an eight county state. Now let's just do some math on logistics here on a deeper scale. There's a whole lot of other counties in the state of New York. There are a lot of other counties in the state of Pennsylvania. There's a god-awful bunch of counties in the state of Ohio. And we have a whole bunch of counties in the state of Michigan. 66 I think. We're 80 something. The thing is, here's the kicker. Well, the lower is the... I might just be thinking about the lower. Yeah, that's the lower. But the thing is, here's the kicker on this, guys. Any of those, any eight counties we would pick that would be in any of the states I just mentioned match easily if not exceed the potential of Connecticut. Now, I'm going to remind you, I only mentioned a handful of states. I only mentioned, well, let's see, New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, I didn't even finish my thumb. We'll throw Indiana in there. Let me ask you something. We haven't even talked about states that are gun friendly yet like Texas or Arizona, Colorado, other than the government. So whenever they bring these numbers up like this, you know, force somebody's brain to get in gear because people say, oh, we're all gone and this kid loses and they have so much. Do they? We got more. Eight counties. One piss-willy little state. And that doesn't even properly represent what truly is going on across the whole of the rest of the country. Now that's why I said, you know what, I don't need to list any of their BS. Why don't you come on down and try and take them and see what happens. Why don't you just come on down. Let's get rid of this BS and get it over with and get it done with. Why don't you come on and shut your face and put your money where your mouth is. You limp, dink, bat-eared piece of gutter trash. See that's the problem with this garbage is every everybody better start getting tired Fed up and just tell them the hell with it you just come on down and see what happens The wretched machine for lack of operatives will grind to a halt not just with what they've got in country We'll hunt them down hang them in their own houses We'll hunt them down hang them in front of their own houses. Well, hey, we'll hunt them down and find about the road Where were they trying to run from their houses? Cuz I ain't gonna leave them if they go. Oh, they left work and they went somewhere else really Well, 15 minutes ago, they were all puffed up when they were shooting up that guy's house down the street. And I followed them right back to where they were throwing their uniform off, left and right. And they were hiding under the bed. And, well, hiding under the bed ain't gonna do them a whole lot. Oh, they might be firing up or blazing up a little bit. But you see, they're there for a very different reason from the average American who's defending his home now. and from America it's fed up with this trash. First, you get to the secret police and you get rid of them. And you find the suckers giving them the orders and the shaster bankers need to die with them. That's the only thing that they need to hear. Anything else is irrelevant. You want to know it really is the Pennyway scam. It's like I was reading some of this other stuff with the the the Republic rats, of course, yapping about the election. We don't want any violence! No, of course you got me. In other words, you can bend them over over a buckboard and beat them in the hind end all you want and boof them all you want. They're not going to do anything because that's what happened with the last election. They let them just bend them over. and they didn't want to say anything and they like you know here's the thing there are all these characters now I don't know if you guys watched any of this I watched three or four of these videos all these characters are coming out and going oh yeah the GOP did this and the GOP did that and these are all political hacks guys and they did this but we didn't want to talk about it well you know what here's the problem you didn't talk about it then you're telling me that somehow something has changed as you're going to talk about it now nothing is going to change the election is irrelevant There's the bottom line what they're telling you is exactly what we all knew told you in the Patriot movement and they said oh, that's crazy It's feudal. You know, they don't even argue Oh Romney this Romney that well it turns out everything we said about that that character and the rest of the shasters are Manipulating garbage and how they're just sucked up and joined at the hip with the Democrats Well, it turns out that even a Democrat on the other side retired is telling everybody exactly what everybody in the independent press the patron room and do Wow So, here's the thing. Come on down and do it. Come on down and do it. That's the only thing we should be telling them across. You know, you got a great idea there. Whenever you hear some liberal flapping their lip, especially when they're out in front of a bunch of people, you get to that really. So you're going to be up front, you're going to be kicking a door in. So you're always counting on somebody like me or you think you're going to hire someone, because I'm stupid and I don't know what you plan on backstabbing me to. You plan on hiring some knuckle dragger or some idiot. or somebody you perceive as a gun owner to attack all the other gun owners and then when the time comes as it says in the handgun control incorporated agenda sheet then you're going to turn around and backstab them and they're just not going to figure that out. Now it's true there are a lot of dimple heads who will follow those kind of stupid orders and they deserve what's going to happen to them. The characters right now they're all puffed up about thinking they're going to do this deserve what's going to happen to them and it should happen to them sooner not later We need to take advantage of what youth we have left or what age we have left. We need to get rid of this problem. It's that simple. In fact, there's an excellent piece that was sent to me on the Facebook page by Sean overseas. And you know, it actually is perfect. It's like the time for kindness is over. The time for trying to acquiesce is over. The time for discussion is irrelevant. We have proven, not me and Mark, but basically many citizens have proven that throwing paper at them does not work. Yeah, it's finished. I mean, well, we can throw more flack up. That's what I call it as chafe nowadays. You want to make them believe we're going in one direction? Throw more of that stuff up. Understanding that it's just that. It's chafe. Oh, don't worry about this hand. Watch this hand. Repeat go jump in there color. What do you got? I said don't worry about this hand, but what you know this thing over here Well, I don't want to think about you the whole idea that one way or another they won't have brains up to figures We're not supposed to be smart enough that we would be able to do something like only there that break. Thank you. Thank you So, again, what we need to remember is we've got a whole lot of work to do and none of time to get it all done. One of the big things here again, this is out there in the last 24 hours is when most all of these pieces have gone out on the NCIC. It's gone out on all these Cop Shop laptops. You got somebody out there, hey, pick up their shoulder, hey, I heard all about that stuff they're sending through the computer network for you guys in your police car computers. Pretty interesting. So you guys all think you're going to grab the guns, eh? You just create just flat out say it like that So you're all figure we're stupid when I have a clue that you're trying you're planning on trying to grab the guns See what they're what they're doing with this whole symbolism, you know that again with the the bad ear He's gonna use the magic pen now I've talked about and everybody the Patriot movement has tried to educate people about executive orders executive executive orders can be stopped but cold But you know who has to do it the opposing party In other words, the GOP Republicans rats, for all this flapping and yapping back and forth, all they have to do is put the kabashto and challenge it. And executive orders can be stopped but cold. But you know what the problem is? These characters have been sleeping in bed for so long that if a demican signs an executive order, the Republican rat won't challenge it. If the Republorette signs an executive order, the Demikins don't challenge it. So there's a problem with this. They can flap and yap all they want. But here's a fact. No executive order has ever been challenged. Does everybody understand that? No executive order has been overturned. They have been put back in the box, so to speak, but they have not been stopped but cold. In other words, all he saw We'll let it go it proceeds and all this is bad. Maybe we ought to change the law somehow But it doesn't have to do the executive order. It's where they reconstruct the background You know the the backdrop and then try to move things around to make you believe there's been some kind of change And this has happened with all executive orders. So understand contrary to I don't know where people got this idea Well, well we could overturn it. Yeah, that is true. They could overturn it and But do you see a Republer Rat anywhere on the horizon that's actually going to do that? Nope. See how that works? Anyway, we got a caller. Who do we have? Jump in there. What do you got caller? Today is Communications Tuesday, Roger. Yep, we got you. Yeah, I just got my call phone. A kilo kilo for whiskey. Okay, hold on again. Give that out again so we can record that. Go ahead. Kilo kilo for whiskey. Very good. So again, you're gonna be up on Wednesday? I'm gonna do my best. Very good. Okay, again for everybody out there, you know who you'll be talking to and you can get in and listen to him. Say hello to the guys for the Intel Report and for Liberty Tree Radio and for the Micro Effect and for Indiana Freedom Talk Radio. But again, take the time to plug in because now you're in the other, you're in the official part of the game. So you've got a license with the Signal Communications people as a ham operator. That's cool. It works out just fine. Now, if everybody's out there listening, what kind of rig are you going to be using? Well, I have a few up here, but I'm going to let you all know on eBay, 174 megahertz. Very good. Do they have just one or do they have a bunch of them available? Well, I'm going to see if... Well, they usually have a bid. I don't want to give you the... See, I just did. If there's only one and you're going to be bidding on it, you don't want somebody else bidding on it out there listening. Oh, I already got one coming in. Okay, very good. So if they do have more or a number of them usually have 8, 10, 25, whatever it is, you know, 6, they usually list the number that they've sold and the number that are available. So if they do have an ID number there, if you want to give it out, that would help people to know where to go. Okay. Because it's on eBay, right? Roger. So an eBay bid or an eBay item? Okay, right here when I click on it's called radio.com. Very good. Interesting. Okay, now is that the eBay bid number? No, that's the inventory number for the actual radio. That's the mall number for radiobuy.com. Okay, it's radio-buy.com. radio-buy.com. and go ahead and give that out one more time just so everybody, because again I know you were going pretty slow but for everybody out there if you're trying to write that down jump in there and do it again. Golf Sierra Dash 6-3 Unicorn Very good. And again that's a 2 meter rig. A meter rig in eBay. Very good. If everybody out there listening, take the time, plug in, check the stuff out, see what they have, and whatever else they may have available. Not a bad idea. There's always more technology and trinkets out there. And I highly recommend everybody take the time to see what they do have available. One of the things... I'm going to be giving out another location here in a minute too. Anything else jump in there? I know eBay of course is pretty broad. There's all kinds of stuff that shows up. It's from different companies. It's also from individuals. A couple of our friends listening, it's what they do. A lot of stuff that they find, especially since we find some really neat stuff, but it's not relevant to anything that we do, guys. Well, we turn around and send it down the road. And that makes it useful for, that allows us to convert it into useful digits that we use for our purposes. For small units, small units, porn victor, 10 bodies, which is the radio. It comes with 10 earpieces, charging adapters. Now does it come with a gang charger or with individual chargers? Does it show? Yeah, it comes with individual chargers. So each one can be separated and put in different locations? Roger. Okay, very good. That's not a bad thing. I mean gang chargers are cool, especially if you're setting up unit radios, five radios, that's a fire team. So if you're looking to outfit, then the only other thing would be, do those come with a remote push to talk mic or VOX mic? Let me see here. No. I don't think so. It's just a regular... that's cool. That's not a problem. Because mics are available. There's a number of different places you can get them. In fact, all electronics and some of these other companies... It might be wrong because it looks like it goes up there. It clips on the ear and it goes down probably. Yeah, it... Yeah, it's just a little a little yeah like a little ball that goes up two inches down the court and you know this hangs there And that's your mic, but it's not it's not that push button. It's just you know it's always on very good. Okay. That's cool Hey mark. I'm on the website right now looking at that that model. He's talking about it's a plot. It's a five watt and it's 3490 3499 16 channel five watt here Well, you fell about the same item, so $34.95? Yeah, $34.99 on the radio-lie.com. The model number is GS-8308USB. That's the model number again is GS-8308USB. at the different one than where I was telling about. It says featured. Excuse me, I just had two people so I can barely talk. Anyway, so there's three featured and they're all 134.29 and two and 134.99 and 134.69 but they're all excellent radios. I mean, excellent buys. There are about 5 VR's. The range he was talking about is in the 400's which is also you can plug in GMRS channels as well. Very good. And again that's off YouTube but it's also Radio-Bye.com. So for everybody that's really the direct link. Radio-Bye.com. Take the time and plug into that. Anything else jumping off that page that just looks to be needing to be up on the air? Well, they've got some really good radios with their prime feet. It's an excellent website. They've got one radio on there for $400, but it'll do everything. Right. Go ahead, caller. Hey, on YouTube, if you looked up James Yeager from Tactical Response, he actually did a review on the Balfoung radios. And, uh, hang on. And that's on Tactical Response? Very good. One of the things about most of these rigs, again, at one point or another, they've either been used for police or military application. That's why there's so many variants out there, but they've actually had time in the field. The only thing about it with a lot of the China support stuff, as I've pointed out, I'm noticing that while there was a massive selection only a year ago, there has been a culling in terms of additional material being reproduced. A lot of the stuff is backorder but out of stock. They're not providing it for the moment. So if this stuff is an inventory, and obviously this is a little different company here, you know you've got it in stock. See if it applies to what it is that you need to integrate into a unit. If you have existing radios, that's one of the issues. Will it integrate? Will it talk to the other equipment you've got? Or Again, if you're setting up a whole new system, does it serve that particular niche? Do you have enough channels? Range is sufficient? Most of these little handheld units are going to deal with tactical signal communication without any problem. They're going to be more than sufficient for the kind of work we're doing. So that is not so much an issue there. The big thing is whether or not the units actually have little add-on features. One of them is a separate extension mics. Those can be purchased. Almost all the little rigs do have that available. So go ahead, Colin. Hey, sorry, I got cut off there. I was saying about James Yager. He does a review on it and he tells you why the 5R is better than the 5R+. The 5R+, you cannot use the extended battery with. Also, the bow-fung radios are now available with, and you can get a AAA battery box for them so you don't have to use a specific battery originally designed. And as you said, the accessories, they have all I ended up buying the extra 14 inch whip antenna. You can get the magnetic antenna for a vehicle. You can get a battery box that plugs directly into your 12 volt. There's so many different things you can get for them. They're on Amazon. If you look up the Balfong Model 5 radios on Amazon, the price range that they were speaking of earlier, I'm not sure if that's what they were talking about, but they're in the exact same price range and they're the two meter radios. But James Jager with Tactical Response, he does it on his YouTube page. He talks about, I think he has two different videos where he's talking about his bug out communications equipment. And he does it pretty good, you know, he's not a combo guy, but he does a short quick layman's review of the items he's bought and used. And he actually compares it to a yasoo, which you know, is a $250 radio, and he said other than the waterproofness, it's just as good a radio. Excellent. So again, there's a solution. A couple of different directions. Where are you? Well, let's see. One, two, three. Okay, on that antenna, is that the rubber ducky antenna or is that a metal antenna? No, the 14-inch is a metal weapon. The radio comes with a rubber ducky antenna. I haven't had a chance to test out the exact difference in the range. I basically bought the 14 inch one and the magnetic vehicle one to see if I could get some range, make a backpack rig using the 12 volt plug system and a 12 volt direct line battery to make a backpack type radio using that as a key system. But yeah, Amazon has a ton of it on. They very rarely, I've never seen where they didn't have some of the stuff available and usually it's just for a couple days like the 12 volt plug, it basically replaces a battery in the battery section and it has a direct line 12 volt plug, make it easier to plug it in your vehicle, if you have it you can mount it in your vehicle and then plug it directly or plug it in as I said into a 12 volt light battery that you can put on a backpack rig. model 10. The NPRC10? I was going to say Mark would know a lot more about that, I'm a 77 and a 74 guy. What do you need to know? What okay, what frequencies are they it works on the lower band it actually drops just below the PRC 25 and 77 But it's lower bandwidth will will talk to the 77 it was designed that way The 8 9s and 10s are progressive Developments of the same radio and the only real difference as much as anything is where they slid up the bandwidth With regard to frequencies so the neat thing about having an emp or an emp RC 8 and nine and ten backpack radio is that you can run three of them side by side and do three different signal grids because one they barely overlap depending on the year some of these were opened up by the military they were sent back to their manufacturers most of them though coming out of the box are from the strategic reserve the ones that you've seen that are sold have you got a PRC-10 or somebody's offering you one? Well, I'm looking at one on eBay. How much do they want for it, though? It's a Vietnam era. Right, they're all Vietnam era. Yeah. Okay, yeah, I put a bit of 125 on it. Okay, well, that's not too bad. Does it come with everything? Okay, everything... Backpack it. Okay, from everything that looks like it has two and a hand. It's got a hand phone control, right? Right. It has a antenna case with a phone. Well, remember, there's a battery box below. The way the thing is set up, it's got a fairly extensive battery box. The battery for the AMPRC-10 is about twice the size of the 77. But in both cases, they built both for the AMPRC-8910s and for the 25s and 77s. They upgraded in the 70s and built a series of half-weight batteries. that were designed with greater output but they were very expensive when the government built them because of this. They do have a longer shelf life however they're probably just on the edge of that for the tens right now because they were mostly built those batteries were built in the 70s and early 80s. Yeah, that's the suspension harness. It hooks up right to your standard combat rig so that your radio operator committed. It replaces your standard H suspenders the way they're set up. It becomes a suspender system. Yeah, they have suspenders. When I would look at that radio... Make sure you have an MRE spoon and a roll of electrical tape, right Mark? Well, the one thing about these first of all is batteries. Now, I don't know if I'll go after them. The problem is, although I do have it, it's right behind me, I have a schematic for building your own batteries. The big thing is, one basic rule about military radio batteries, they have a multi-penned gang plug. Even if you lose the rest of the battery, we don't care, but save those stinking female plugs. because that's what everything hooks up to. And otherwise you have to make a female connector, which by the way you can go to Fair Radio and you can get pretty much everything you need. Either go two ways. They may have the batteries on the shelf still. I don't know for sure. They did, at least in the past. I haven't checked recently. Most of the PRC 9s that I have are with the unit to the south of us. Most of the PRC 10s are in my backyard here. I did that intentionally because I know that two different grids, two different units, and they're on their own independent frequencies. The other thing about that is they're used for vehicle radios or they're used for unit radios for platoon or for platoon and company communications. Handheld radios that are smaller are a better choice for what we're talking about doing nowadays. Did they make a rechargeable system for those batteries Mark? No, the original batteries are plug and play and use and throw. And that's the problem in that the PRC H9s and 10s weigh in a lot heavier, number one. Lifespan of whatever is left out there is going to be mixed. I would point out these are not for the 10s. There was an adapter kit that was made so you could work the 77 battery on the PRC H9s and 10s, but it required another, I think, a capacitor and there was a couple other things you had to do, but it was actually something built by a guy out of Shotgun News and he was a radio geek. I haven't seen those in a long time. The battery box is half of that radio that you see there. Roger that. So you see the size of it, you'll see where the clamps, the dogs are on the side of the radio on either side. That's the battery edge right there. That's the bottom, that's the top where it's at the middle of the box. What makes the rectangular shape of the radio. Yeah, it's older than the radio box. Yeah, so typically what you want to do is make sure you have another bag for carrying a couple extra batteries if you're using the originals and you will go through them. This kind of weather you'd go through them. The other thing is remember you don't use it like a phone, you only turn it down when you need to, only at designated times, then you shut it back down. That's the other half of saving the radio, the batteries themselves. Now they did make some rechargeable batteries in the late 80s and early 90s, and I understand that one of the reasons they did those is to sell them to Iran, because Iran ended up with a lot of ANPRC-8s, 9s, and 10s that were sold under the table back during the Iran-Contra thing. years and years ago back in the early 80s. But because of that, a lot of that stuff bled out into the market and there are rechargeables. One of the companies out in Wisconsin might have some. That's the last place that I saw that had a big pile of PRC-8910 stuff. They're not a bad radio. They work fine. I've carried them for miles. I've gotten my... I was almost knocked unconscious by one at least once, so I know they can take a bruising. Well, my head didn't, but the radio did. Okay. But beyond that, if they're complete, the big thing is it should have a static antenna, long whip. It should have a tape antenna. You may also have the headset and a hand set. When I say that, there's one that's a microphone still made out of the same material. Those came in the original kit with both. They had the regular handset that most everybody is familiar with during the Vietnam era, which is one piece. but they also came with a crossover harp set with two ear pieces and a handset. Most of them don't have those because those were pilfered for the ANGRC 125s. They went over to the radio jeeps. That's where they usually ended up. Because the bigger radios were, it was more convenient to use them with a bigger static radio set. The handheld, the radio telephone operator set you're familiar with is what you have with that radio radio, I guarantee it. Other than that, good radio, but the problem is going to be batteries. OK, that's the first consideration. Batteries. And that's true with almost all these military rigs. Go to fairradio.com, fairradio.com, fairradio.com. And check to see what they have on the shelf there first. Also, check to see what they have on the way of radios. You might find, I know you bid on it, but you might find a better price. Remember, you need a second radio. You've got to have somebody to talk to. Something else to think about doesn't mean you can't talk to us, but we're a little distance away, you know, considering where you are and where we are. So what is range on those things anyway? Well, if you run a wire, you can bounce probably a good half a state. I could take an AMPRC8 with about a 100 foot V wire, and I can send a directional signal downrange and get her to bounce a little bit. Basically, they were designed for company and battalion strength signal communications anywhere from 11 to 30 miles. So just figure it's purely a matter of taking... Right, the big thing there again is terrain. And remember, one of the other considerations is how it's been beat up or bounced around. Sometimes people weren't too friendly with some of these radios, so you want to, you know, if you can, take a look. What if your mobile market, if you've got a mobile operation, you might get a little farther range? Right, well then you, well, no matter how you look at it, it's purely matter of terrain. The first rule is to get away from obstructions. Second is, depending on the antenna, using the long, the long whip, you increase range. Now, there's a couple of tricks with that. Remember, one of the things we learned back in the Vietnam post, you know, well, not post, the end of the Vietnam War, remember how we always whip antennas, guys? We always love to have them static and up. We figured taller is better. One of the little tricks with both the PRC 8 9s 10s and the 77s and all of our vehicle mounted Jeep antennas. Remember how we used to fold the Jeep antenna over and from the back so we wouldn't beat the snout out of it going through foliage and we'd hook it up to the front bumper with a bungee cord? Well what's interesting guys is we found out that was a better position to put the antenna and we got greater range. So a little trick. Don't be afraid to use the CB system as well because the drivers will floor the message across the country in a matter of seconds. Right, CB to work. Exactly. Well, that's one of the things about this is that again, the big advantage of a military radio is robust. It's designed to get the snot beat out of it, typically weatherized. Very seldom of the weather is does anybody want to take them apart except back to the rear so they're not typically gonna have a compromised seal or anything like that you know the most problem the most complicated issue is putting them back together right because if you have a weatherization seal A lot of people are sloppy. If they really are paying attention, they were just curious. And you've got to remember that you have to seat that seal and then very carefully nest the rest of the fixture down onto that seal and then draw them together accordingly with whatever fasteners you've got. Because usually you get a bunch or you get a twist. And it is harder than hell, and I'm sorry, unless you've got a clean environment, it's harder than hell to keep that seal clean in the field. So taking that radio apart in the field is not a recommend to begin with. I remember back years ago, there was a couple of guys that were pro-patriots in the middle 90s, actually early 90s, that made a tactical CB combat radio rig. And it's basically what we were talking about. We need to reintroduce that again using an Alice Pack frame. and a backboard plate and then a few other items today I would add like I've said before we're talking about this uh... you know the last couple years I would add a more efficient solar panel system now that's why I'm making onboard charger twelve charge chargeable twelve volt battery packs that would be carried on board. Little micro batteries look like little car batteries. You've got more staying power. You could charge one up while the other one's running. Use a... Yeah, well you could also put a switch control so you could be running one of the batteries while the other one's being charged up by the solar panel. you could run directly off the solar panel. For everybody's wondering, where can I get one that would work? Well, the military is already doing these flexible solar panels in the field, but a crude, cheap version is get one of these visor mounted or dash mounted, just cheapy $10, $20 solar units and incorporate that into the unit. There's so many different ways it can be done that it's purely matter how much money you got to spend, but I could do it on the cheap. I'll guarantee you can put a nice little backpack right together for A couple hundred dollars. One of those solar things that you set on your dash that keeps your battery charged is a trickler. One of those solar things that you hang in your window and it drives a fan to keep your car cool while you're gone is better. Yep, exactly. It puts out more. And that's really what we need to be looking at is, you know, the system itself, in fact right now one of our friends in the chat room posted gov liquidation has got the l c two frames they look like they're pristine guys it's an l c two frame with the with the wide shoulder straps and with the kidney pad now that would make a great r o reg right there that's everything you need to be on it all you gotta do is put a backplate and uh... i would use uh... Oh, I would use a panel of Kevlar type, about 3-16 or 1 quarter inch plastic. It's going to be a little heavier, but the advantage is I can screw anything to it. I want to drill a hole. It's not going to break apart. It's not going to fracture or rip through. I can mount my radio on that. I can mount my spare parts bag on that. And it will be comfortable. Yeah, it's going to be comfortable and it would serve your purpose. Another point to be made with 12 volts, you guys. What are automotive systems and what is the automotive options you put out? Oh, I would have an umbilicus right off the bat. Right. What are we wasting that burned out BMW down the road for? Go get its alternator. Oh, you're just... I know, just think about it. It's only burned from the passenger compartment back. Yeah, you're moving along and it's like the keys are still in the ignition, there's a hand still holding the keys, the arm is cut off at the elbow, the car is still plugged in, the car is partially beat up but the batteries are still working. You reach in, plug your handle, go right into that. You were to do this with a 12 volt motorcycle battery and a CB Wow. You could charge it on the off times, you could charge it with the solar, see the smaller battery is going to come back faster. The bigger battery is going to have a deeper bank. No doubt about it. These are basic physics. It's going to go longer without a charge, but man, you're going to be working a lot longer to bring that battery up to snuff. How long were those loading the goods? Well, you look at like... That's the whole point. When you look at cold cranking amps for a car, 600 or 800 amps is minimum these days. I would not put a cold cranking amps 800, even in a four cylinder these days. just for the extra bank, so to speak. But you can get motorcycle batteries that are down like 200 cold cranking amps. That's like basically the size of a cigar box. Only, you know, the volume of a cigar box, only slightly different in size. Hey you guys, if you looked up... multiple solar panels the foldable ones yes it up at your get a plethora of really neat you know mark you know i've much talked about this for a bit on a great up again i mean what those affordable or drop so you you can put them in your pack you unfold on it still charge a battery real quick within and you get you know eighty or some of these are eighty-one all of our medical people should have these all of our radio operators should have them and they can be fitted to the equipment so that they should be standard. The reason is for our medical personnel, light is key to finding damage. You got to be able to see. For the radio operator, you got to be able to hear. And both of those, that is the fact that, like I said, the stuff they're using overseas is bleeding off into the standard industry or vice versa. They're finding stuff that's out there in the industry and they're dragging it over into battlefield procurement and it'll work. it would be an excellent solution. There's no reason for us not to have a completely freestanding independent system, but think ahead like we know Don was saying. We got the solar panels, but why burn our batteries if I can pull out an umbilicus, plug it into the dash of that partially wrecked car, and I'm talking right there. And I got whatever beast is under the hood that's still left. And then walk on down the road when I need to. Good points guys, this is the kind of brainstorming we need, everybody helping everybody else out. The PRC-10s, fairradio.com, fairradio.com, look to see what they have there, caller.
