Live 365 He took off his three-cornered hat, and speaking low to me, he said, We fought a revolution to secure our liberty. We wrote the Constitution as a shield from tyranny. For future generations, this legacy we gave. In this, the land of the free and home of the brave. The freedoms we secured for you, we hoped you'd always keep. But tyrants labored endlessly while your parents were asleep. Your freedom's gone, your courage lost, you're no more than a slave. In this, the land of the free and home of the brave. You buy permits to travel and permits to own a gun. Permits to start a business or to build a place for one. On land that you believe you own, you pay a yearly rent. Although you have no voice in saying how the money's spent. Your children must attend a school that doesn't educate. And your Christian values can't be taught. according to the state. You read about the current news in a regulated press and you pay a tax you do not owe to please the IRS. Your money is no longer made of silver nor of gold. You trade your wealth for paper so your life can be controlled. You pay for crimes that make our nation turn from God and shame. You've taken Satan's number and you've traded in your name. You've given government control to those who do you harm so they could burn down churches and seize the family farm and keep our country deep in debt. Put men of God in jail. Harash your fellow countrymen while corrupted courts prevail. Your public servants don't uphold the solemn oaths they've sworn. And your daughters visit doctors so their children will be born. Your leaders send artillery and guns to foreign shores and send your sons to slaughter fighting other people's wars. Can you regain the freedom for which we fought and died? Or don't you have the courage or the faith to stand with pride? And are there no more values for which you will fight to save? Or do you wish your children to live in fear and be a slave? Oh, sons of the Republic, arise, take a stand, defend the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the land, preserve our great Republic and each God given right, and pray to God to keep the torch of freedom burning bright. As I awoke, he'd vanished in the mist for whence he came. His words were true, we are not free, but we have ourselves to blame. For even now as tyrants trample each God given right we only watch and tremble too afraid to stand and fight If he stood by your bedside to dream while you were asleep and wondered what remains of the freedoms he fought to keep What would be your answer if he called out from the grave is this still the land of the free and home and Good evening ladies and gentlemen. This is the evening intelligence report. I'm our krinky One day closer to victory for all of our brothers and sisters both on and behind the lines in occupied territories west, southwest, central, and east. Well, ladies and gentlemen, you are listening to us on... liberty to read it up or m g dot com indiana pretty dark radio dot com in the micro station cb base stations and ultra net technologies both east and west of the mississippi along with alaska which is a whole lot warmer than what you are right now if you're in the middle part of the country Back in the east we have the Hobart network from the top of Maine where them black bears are hibernating. You know they are and dreaming about that next year American Legion Wednesday fish fry shows up in the city dump on Thursday. They get that shoulder rubbed right in there. Oh, they get that there girly bear perfume and it'll get the girls every time. Mmm, American Legion French prize and deep-fried perch. Oh yeah, that brings them in. Also at the bottom of Florida, where the fiddler crabs. Well, they are now nestled into a degree, but depending on the tide, they might be out in legions and chanting their mantras while of course contemplating their belly buttons. If they had belly buttons. Turning across the Gulf of Mexico, doo doo doo, I say, all the way to Louisiana where them their crawdads, the cajole, yeah, they do the deep fry with the fish and the gator tail, the black hole, deep fried. Oh, on the stove with the pepper. You do the black pepper, you know how to use it. Uh-huh, the big plate of crawdazz. You got yourself the gator tail and you got yourself some fried black on fish. Oh, to Mississippi, Texas, Oklahoma, big chunk of Nebraska, a whole bunch of Wyoming to include both Pitt 3rd and 5th and our friends in the recall state of Colorado waiting to the left coast. where the wonderful state of Jefferson is in place, a shining beacon, an example of liberty as opposed to the detritus, the excrement, the debris behind enemy lines, unfortunately guys for a lot of you that are fighting hard doing your part to resist the California Soviet Socialist democracy, the sputum, the detritus, the excrement of Feinsteinism and the diaper stain, the disposable throwaway diaper stain of Brown. Turning back to the east, with the wind in our hair, cold air to our left coming out of the north, we sweep across the plains, leap over the merging banks of the Mississippi, and land in the smokies where the restaurant crews, cram-a-teams, OK teams, the mob, the milgram, and the thrush can bring us the Golden Spike. Many hands make for light work a million petticoat junctions, the ability to continue to function when everything else is offline. Well, it is Clear! That cold bubble is here. We had gray, we had a little bit of broken up sun during the day, we had cloud cover which actually kept it, well of course kept the sun from coming down, but we still got radiation. But now, it's clear. The stars are shining bright. I'll tell you if the observatories aren't open just north of us at Peach Mountain, they've got to be crazy because you can see forever tonight. It is beautiful. clear, cold, bitter air that it is. It's Michigan outside. It is the 6th of January. It is the sixth year of open Fabian socialist and Soviet socialist occupation of America with a K-2014 Old Earth calendar or Mayan crazy town calendar. That's right. Rocking with the best of right here. on Liberty Tree Radio. We do rocket between a lot of other stuff too. Ed's got a good music selection there and he's looking for more. So if you would like to have your music played, then I'll tell you what you do. Follow the instructions on Liberty Tree Radio for sending music to LTR. You send a release form along with a copy of your music. Ed will put it on the station lineup. and your music will be heard. We want more Patriot bands, soloists, instrumentalists. I don't care what it is, get it out there. Heavy Metal Rock, we do it. Classic ballad, we do it. Country music, we do it. You name it, it's there. If it's Patriot and you're pro-Patriot and making the noise and putting the sound together, one note after another, well, I'll tell you what you do. Go to LibertyTreeRadio.4mg.com. The address, you can send a copy of the release form and... The copy of the music to PBN PO Box 194 Dexter, Michigan 48130 That's PBN PO Box 194 Dexter, Michigan 48130 And I'm just gonna find my hand! I'm dying! Cause I'm the Wolfman! No, he's not the Wolfman. As a matter of fact, it's Ed and the rest of the crew here. Remember when DJs used to have personalities rather than all of them sounding exactly the like to be politically correct? Because a horrible thing you might defend someone except for white people. You can defend white people all day now all you want. You can pee in their face and do whatever you want there. So that's okay. Everybody else though, oh, you have to be sensitive. I am bowing you. I'm a monster so wrinkling from the from the guy. Yeah, so anyway, as it is, again, PBN PO Box 194 Dexter, Michigan 48130 will have a lot of fun and we'll post your music where it will be heard. In fact, Ed's looking for more. We got more we need to load up. We have space available. So let's get that done to make sure Ed has the ammunition he needs, guys. If you've got a local band and they're wanting to do some patriotism, then we got one song. It doesn't mean earrings. We got one song, that's good. They got more than one song, better still. Thinking about doing some? Get it done and get it on disc and get it to Ed. See how that works? So here we are. It is Monday by the way, and it is clear outside. I think they said we're at minus 15 right now for the area. I mean, I could be wrong because I've been out several times. Of course, I guess maybe I'm acclimated to it. I got my Mickey Mouse boots on, and I keep them on all through the season. Go inside, get them off. Go back outside, put them back on. They slide out real easy. And again, for everybody out there, pay attention to your livestock and your animals. Don't give them a whole lot of water. It's just going to freeze. Regulate, make sure that they get what they need. That's the most important thing. And dehydration in the winter for all of you, even people, is just as much of a problem. Oh, it's cold. I don't want to put the phone blank to your lips. Well, that's true. Again, you're going to have to watch where you do that. A cold stainless steel cup to your lips in this weather. My lips are my daughter's doctor. Well, I hope there's some warm coffee in there. It won't be warm for long, but it might just unfaw you enough to get away. Fuzz off the cup. Plus, you're not wearing it like this until you go inside with form. Okay? So, it might be a good idea to wait and do your drinking where you're actually under a controlled environment, but do some water. Do water, juice, milk, whatever is your forte, but get some more moisture in there and keep it there because, again, you're going to need it. Body is still working out, still sweating, still pumping components, getting rid of minerals, using up all those vitamins you put in the system. Which means you also got to get rid of it too. Yeah, I know. In cold weather, I'm going to put that out in the cold weather. Yeah, sometimes you're forced to. But again, prior proper planning prevents piss poor performance, so let's think that through. It froze off and broke off. Oh my goodness. Oh, that's horrible. Oh, just the image. We'll make sure it doesn't happen again. Prior to proper planning in more ways than one. Again, beautifully clear outside. The stars are like diamonds in the sky, man. It's like Pink Floyd, dude. Dude, I'm telling you, man, it's like a piece out of Pink Floyd, man. I saw it, dude. Well, on top of that, it is bitter cold. So make sure you get your spare socks, make sure you've got your spare cold gear, weather gear, and your combat rig. Be prepared as all season minute men, y'all know what I'm talking about. You got skis, break them out. If you've got snowshoes, break them out. Gee, I guess, again, an extra warm weather vest, you know, like warm environment vest, cold weather vest, would be really nice. And just enough to give you a little extra protection outside. Doesn't have to cover everything, though. It would be a good idea to keep your arms covered. That's what a long sleeve shirt's for. The big thing is, make sure that you got what you need with you. You know, I got spare socks, and that package, that emergency package, and it was in the trunk of the car, but somebody pulled it out. Now we're snuck in the snow, which everybody's been getting. I just wore my dress shoes when I should have had those rubber boots in the car. It would have made all the difference in the world. What if, again, it's the girls going out by themselves and something happens? Do you really want to see somebody get hurt? So for that reason make sure the emergency equipment in the vehicle throw a few extra blankets in there too. Hey, they're kind of nice to snuggle up in the back seat, you know in the front seat was a little colder just in case. Better to have it not need it than need it and go, I'll fold my newbies off or hear about a snow casualty with their legs sticking up out of the snow bank later. We don't want to hear about that. Okay, now I did bring something up in the chat room. It was kind of random and out of the blue there. I've mentioned it centerfiresystems.com. The Canik pistols, which only have a couple magazines. I don't know if anybody who has any other mags for the guns so far haven't had a chance to look around that deep. I have not gone to CDN and Investments and CDNN may have, they have a lot of pistol mags. So they may actually have some. Another company is JGSales.com. They actually do have a pretty good selection of mags. So the Canik's are running $300 a piece, but I've noticed something and it's like, man, I've seen that silhouette before. If you look, if you go to CenterFireSystems.com, you can go to their handguns. You'll find that they have a Ruger, was it CR, whatever, SR22, which is the 22 version of their new Glock type plastic pistols that Ruger makes. Now take a look at the Ruger design and take a look at the Canik and you tell me which came first, the chicken or the egg there. I don't know what the set off date was for the Canik. I don't know what the set off date was for that Ruger model because I'm not keeping up on all of them. But what's interesting is now the Rugers do have a hammer. It appears the Canik does not. It's hammerless like a Glock. The Canik has Glock features and apparently a lot of Ruger features. If you take a look at the two, the ergonomic design, the way that they're contoured to fit your hand. That's called ergonomics. They contour it to comfortably fit. and fill all those hollows so there's no bounce point on the gun when you're handling it. See, that's a real positive formula because remember that no matter what you do with a handgun, when you fire the first round, that's when muscle compression takes place. In competition shooting, no matter how good you are, typically that will be your slight stringer or your slight out-round. The other four rounds in a five-round relay, if you were firing competition for target, we will find they're going to be all within about a quarter, yep, with a 45-feet-old pistol or 40-caliber, whatever you're using. But the one that's a little off will be that first round. Now, why is that? Well, you see, before you fired that first round, the muscle tissue in your hand was not fully compressed. You gripped it well, you're really excited. or you're very well tuned to your gun, you're breathing, you bring the weapon up, that first round is going to be in the target area where it belongs. But that's where the weapon seats. That's where the blood is pushed out of the tissue and everything moves around the way it's supposed to. Now your gun is resting with all of its surfaces against your hand where they need to be. So, what happens from that point forward is in bop, bop, bop, bop, bop. When you fire those five rounds, you've got that nice size of a quarter group at 25 yards. That one that's just a little outside the group will be that first round. Now, to compensate a little, in other words, everything you do to tune the gun up can reduce that stringer, which still is going to be an X. An X, zero, right on the dot, right at the bull's eye. But you can tighten it up a little and the way to do that is for instance to more radically contour the design to a degree. The 1911 used to be a straight back and then there's the A1 which had the contoured mainspring housing where they bulbed it out a little bit to fill the palm of the hand. You look at the Canik or the new Rugers you'll notice they've gone in in degree to contour the grip because it's plastic cast. to contour the grip so it fits the hand more efficiently. Now this does help to eliminate a certain amount of the wiggle factor as the handgun is settling in that first round fire. Now five round relays in competition most common, 25 and 50 yards, the group will be pretty tight and that stringer is consistent no matter who you are as a shooter. But Even with larger relays, if you were just using this, trying to dump rounds into a tight target area, I guess if you want to hit somebody over and over and over ten times, and over and over and over and over and you're kind of cutting a hole through them until you get to their spine and blow their spine out their back, I assume, because that must be your agenda. It's no problem keeping them seated into that area. That first round would still be, again, with a more Contour design, filling the palm, filling the hand, allowing the hand and the fingers to rest accordingly. Yeah, it's going to tighten up a little and that's what these designs were intended to do. Not a bad idea, it's another solution. There are many different ideas in firearms. All of them are correct to be quite honest guys. Engineering ideas come and go, flip back and forth, purely a matter of squares opposed to contours, etc., etc. And you'll see that as you grow into firearms over the years as long as we keep our liberty and we continue to make new stuff for ourselves. Crude and rude and square, stem gun. They weren't worried too much about ergonomics. If you take a look, that stock comes right out of the rear end, it has a little bit of a filler piece of steel. And hey, you make it work. The other direction is a completely custom contour competition grip built to your hand by a gunsmith slash a board beaver that knows what he's doing. Okay, who is going to build that gun to fit and sit. A lot of people do it themselves, tweaking the guns. That's where a lot of these 22 competition rifles look so Star Wars-ish and unique. Counterweights, counterbalance. to include, you know, specially custom cut and contoured grips that virtually allow you to nest the hand around the gun. Yeah, you've seen them. So that's the other extreme and there's a lot of variations in between. However, the Canik is an interesting pistol. If we can get more feedback on it, apparently it's gotten some good reviews. It's nothing to write home about. It's just again for the age and for this day, it's typical for the plastic guns. It does take a 17 round magazine which is a big plus even though you only have two mags with a gun. That's a lot of firepower, that's reasonable. And again we're not supposed to spray and pray but if you did need a machine pistol for emergency use, 17 rounds rapid fire as quick as you can keep them into that crowd or into that group coming through the front door. I'm pretty sure it will dump all 17 quite comfortably and allow you to get to where your heavier weapons are if you got caught off guard. You were just carrying a security weapon or you had to reach over into a cabinet or reach over into a slot in the wall and pull out one of the many guns you have stashed around the house. The canit could be one of them. Now if you get more mags, it's a hand cannon to carry. In fact, even as it is with two mags, that's serviceable with 34 rounds available. I like to have more mags because you're typically going to drop stuff, you're going to lose stuff, stuff's going to get broken, and so more mags are always better. But it's on the edge of being an orphan but not quite yet. And it is a modern gun, so the Canik is something for $300 and you're out of the box, that might be a consideration. Compare it to the Ruger and see what I'm talking about there. Ruger, of course, has had a lot of fine pistols they've produced over the last 100 years or more, but most important in the last 20-30 years they've had a whole family of some automatic pistols that in and of themselves have worked exceptionally well. None of them are obsolete, none of them are outdated, all of them function. So, if you've got a Ruger, I'm not telling you to buy something else. In fact, just a reverse. If you've got one of the older Rugers, if you're patient, there's a lot of mags laying around out there. I just keep collecting more mags for it, get more spare parts, buy a spare firing pin and extractor from Ruger, make sure that you've got them on the combat pack with your pistol. stick with what you've got. But if you're looking for additional firearms and you've already got something in that Ruger type and you're looking for maybe something a little cheaper so you can put more on the shelf or put away in a cache, well, the basic design is the same. And if you look at the ergonomic contours, it does make sense that it looks to be Maybe a clone. Either one. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if the Rugers weren't built over in Turkey. I haven't looked deep into that, but it wouldn't be the first time. A lot of the other American companies are having stuff built in Europe or somewhere within the EU. Just something to think about there. I haven't done the background. I don't know if Rugers making their plastic toy in the US or if they had it subcontracted. Turkey's got a big arms industry. Just as likely as not that they're the winner or build them there now the interesting thing would be if the Ruger 9 millimeters and the Canx Have interchangeable magazine Hey Then you might have a solution there. So if there is a Ruger counterpart in 9 millimeter and I'm pretty sure there is Then you might want to compare mags and see if somebody can to see where the mag release is, what the contour is with the feed lips, and if it's a 17 round magazine capacity or not. Oh, so you mean you might be able to use Ruger? Might, not saying you will. We need to find this out. There's a lot of browning high power clones that use standard browning high power mags. Same could be true with some of the with several these new plastic guns They are using common mags in the unique patterns because well They're not really that unique somebody just ripped off their you know subcontractors design or a sub contractor they ripped off a Another something built another part of the planet. It wouldn't be the first time happens all the time in that industry guys like any other The Chinese do with our new fighter parts that we had to completely turn a blind eye to and we've got China parts junk going on our latest fighters and Americans aren't building them so that they can keep the thing under, well bid, wow, isn't that great land of the fee and home of the slave. So, PIFDALS, why not? So just check it out, see if in fact we need more of a database on that. Compare notes and we can do a little research in the process to see what we can find out. But for $300, that little Canik kit comes from Center Fire Systems, comes in five colors. and includes a re-engineerable holster system that's solid plastic, comes with a cleaning kit, everything is self-contained in the pack, everything you need to make it work the way you want it to, guys. Purely a personal choice, no different from the Glocks as far as that goes. Just again, a little different shape on the outside, but basic theory on the inside across the board looks to be about the same. So, won't be surprised. We'll find out more as we go. Again, a reminder, be careful, it is cold up here in Michigan, but it was cold before, although it's been dropping progressively as that thumper that came off of Green Bay is doing what it always notoriously does. It's sliding around North America and doing what it does best, driving everything into the basement temperature-wise. So check on your animals, make sure that your cars are all topped off as far as antifreeze goes. You know why? Just as well as I do. It doesn't take a whole lot into this sub-zero weather. Well, it won't be very long before pop, pop, boom, boom if you're not careful. Also, if you have to go somewhere, you've got to make sure the vehicles are running. Another thing, equipment, material and equipment support with regard to coal weather gear. I will remind everybody again that colmans.com, www.colmans.com, and again, that's www.colmans.com. that they have Mickey Mouse boots for $30 a pair used and they have a good size range. I was surprised at what they have left, but they have gone through about 50% of what they had when we mentioned them last week. It tells you something about people finally catching up. The winter's caught up with them and now at the last minute they're buying what they need. If you didn't know where to look, I think I pointed them out before, but just in case, colmans.com, they're one of several sources for Mickey Mouse boots. I'm wearing a pair right now, had them for about 20 plus years. This particular set, but I also have another couple pairs in storage in reserve. Actually, all my boys and girls have grown up with them, and I've got a pair for Nancy too, that are on standby. For what they cost, they're worth having on the shelf. Now the only thing Coleman's has in their clearance section are OD Green rubber boots for $3 a pair. They will go over your tennis shoes, they will go over your boots, they'll go over whatever you're wearing, and it changes completely your thermal protection and moisture protection, guys, which is especially critical in cold weather. You get frosty stuff on your boots and your feet. Your feet are warm, they melted, it soaks into your clothes. The clothes now are wet. They pull calories from your feet. Your feet start to get frozen. Your feet get fuzzy. Eventually, if you're not careful, you don't feel them. And after a while, we chip you out of your boots or your shoes. Or if we're trying to chip them out and your foot comes off, that's a killer indication you've been walking too far on frozen feet. Or maybe just frozen toes. Look, there's little chocolate things rolling around in the bottom of the boot. What is that? Oh, those are his toes. Oh man, they already popped off. By the way, that happened a lot in Korea and during World War II in Germany, guys, with US troops in Europe. Yeah, exactly. Oh, look, there's something rolling around in his boots. Those are his toes. Oops. So, just something to think about there kids. And again, let's prevent that from happening by making sure we're properly dressed. But, colmans.com, colmans.com, www.colmans.com. I doubt that there's much left at the dollar stores, but there were actually some pretty good buys on the polyester stocking caps, watch caps, radar-arally-type Jeep caps, World War II helmet liners. that were remakes. They're out there still, maybe if you're lucky, although they're probably pretty well slim pickings. The China Sport Crushed Felt Rag stuff really works well and it's not a bad thing. That's another thing to take into consideration. Also for surplus, there is a whole bunch of Austrian military stuff coming through in the gray green and the OD green. The gray green is mostly the cold weather gear. They make a helmet liner skull cap. that is really well made. It's running a couple dollars, three dollars a surplus, plus or minus depending on how much they bought in the way of items. For the store they also have some really well made Swedish and Austrian deep cold weather sweaters. These are as good as any of the Commando, in fact probably superior in terms of quality and weight. But if you already got a Commando sweater it's wool. Hey, you're already probably where you need to be with that. The other thing is in the Austrian gear, lots of cold weather pants and jackets as far as the cold weather field pants that are lined and in good sizes. So if you run into them, grab them. Definitely worthwhile. Austrian works. Basically what it is is the old US Army green weenie uniforms top to bottom. And again, the Austrians, this is their tack reserve slash the last of their OD green surplus coming out because they've gone pretty much to camouflage. Again, with regard to the rest of their gear. So you'll see more of this OD green coming out for a bit and then it's going to dry out. But right now it's in good sizes. This is a good time to buy the Austrian stuff. Up to 3x with the clothing with the shirts. Up to 2x and in some cases, depending on who has it, 3x even in the pants. Also the cold weather pants, field jackets, parkas and wet weather gear is available in the Austrian. If you already got a lot of OD green, hey, or if you need more uniforms for your 510 program, the OD green Austrian will work just fine. After all, it is a fatigue uniform. Oh, that's right. Also, remember, if you've already got everything you need for cold weather, nobody's thinking about summer now, guys. And right now, the summer military gear is cheap. Nobody's thinking about it. Sizes are good. And it's a dog on the market because ain't nobody thinking about summer shorts or summer ripstop camouflage uniforms or anything like that. So now's the time to wheel and deal and also look at bidding on stuff even with the auctions, Gov auctions, etc. Check it out, look around, see what you can find. If you have a store, business, or whatever, remember you can deal with the wholesale companies. You need to check them out. You need to get connected with them. There's many out there, too numerous to mention. Go out and be creative. Get hold of them. Get yourself on their list for catalogs and for sales specials. And then take advantage of them. Remember, you'll have to buy in quantity. But when it's so cheap, you're paying for, say, 100 pairs, which you'd pay for 10 normally in retail. Yeah, then you could afford to have... 100 pairs of something or 10 pairs of something or 20 of this and 50 of that on the shelf or at least purchase it and then pass the savings on to your people that are in your unit so that you're that much better outfitted and equipped. Now one of the things I would recommend and I've noticed that again watching the system, regular US military style ponchos. I know the China aftermarket ones are out there. We know that. I'm talking about real surplus. Even the Austrian ponchos were gone a couple years ago and they haven't really come back in. All the Austrian surpluses come in otherwise, but the ponchos are already gone. If you run into ponchos at yard sales or resale shops and they've got a couple dollars on them, grab them. If they're military ponchos of any kind, camouflage ponchos, grab them. For a couple dollars a piece, you aren't going to beat it. There's nothing out there. In fact, even if it's a little bit more, it's a personal choice. Take a look at the condition, make sure they're in decent shape. and acquire them because as far as being available other than brand new China Sport there's nothing coming through the system. Now there's some stuff through the Donut of Destruction, the DOD, auctions and sales but that's few and far between by what it used to be. So I highly recommend that again pay attention to your environment. Another thing with regard to cold weather gear, heat tabs and matches along with lighters. I've pointed this out before, but I put matches and lighters everywhere. A lot of people prefer lighters. Actually, you can modify the lighter to create a quick real like little napalm burner. It's going to burn hot, burn fast, so that it pushes a lot of heat onto the product to get it moving. It means you're going to lose the lighter faster because it's obviously burning up the butane. But that little trick is handy when you're trying to get a fire started quick. If you have casualties, especially seconds and minutes count, especially cold weather casualties. So remember, we want to get a fire going. We want heat going. We want to get everything warmed up as quick as we can. Another thing I would remind everybody about, if you have a thermal casualty and you have blankets, if you have a heat tab or whatever, do what the Indian population, the native population would do. They didn't heat the whole forest and try to bring it up to temp. You take your blanket and you make yourself into a wiki up. Make yourself into like a teepee. You're not going to cover yourself up and suffocate yourself, but what you do is you want to create a small chamber and you use the fuel tab, the heat source you've got, whatever it is, sternal, or if you're using a little burner. You want that person around that fire to a degree. You want that person to collect the first calories off of that fire. You want to keep them warm. You try to bring them up to temp. Candles will work the same way. anything you're going to do to try and improve the individual's condition, try to prioritize them. The way to do that, make a smaller area for that heat source to heat up. The sooner that happens, the more that that person is breathing charged air. Remember, warmed up air. That person is starting to collect calories they've lost. Core calories are going to be a big problem. Always remember to try to heat up something warm, even if all you can do is boil the water. Heat it up, get it in them. Get warm water into the system start getting them to drink soup coffee cocoa Yes, I know caffeine is is you know downer in other ways But if that's what it'll get to get heat into the system calories what we're counting on guys calories more calories We need to get that person warmed up So, that's another area that again if you can't immerse them and bring them up to temperature, warm bathtub does help a lot. Just be careful. You want to bring the temp up progressively. Don't put it in boiling and then stick somebody as a thermal casualty in there. The word shock is something you also have to take into consideration. So, what you want to do is get them in at a warmer temperature, a warm temperature, and then bring the temp up as you go. You know, again, for what little you're going to spend in fuel. It's off the tap and off the meter, whatever. The idea is to get that person back up to speed as quick as you can. Bring up their external and internal temperature progressively. Again, things to remember. We're looking at cold casualty issues. Ain't no showers out in the field. So here's the other thing. If you're a team leader, everybody always loves being in charge. I'm in charge! Well, congratulations. With being in charge comes responsibility. Now, one of the things to remember is that a team leader, as a fire team leader, as a squad leader, as a platoon leader, as a unit commander, you have an obligation to monitor your troops. We've got training exercises coming up this weekend. We're going to be incorporating a new film with a whole bunch of video from one of the winter exercises a couple weekends ago. Okay. Already filmed. Everything's done. Trying to edit out the difference, get everything put together and find some cool music to put behind it. But the whole point is that while in the field, the fire team leaders constantly have to monitor their people. With regard to the squad leader, he's going to make sure that he's got a good team leader, a set of team leaders, fire team leaders that are doing their job. He's probably going to be leading one team, the other guy is taking care of the other five-man group, and you're going to have to make sure you're a bird dog and you're people. People have a tendency to, first of all, some will try to shrug off pain or an injury. You can't do that in cold. Something has happened or something is a problem we need to know. But you also need to pay attention because cold fatigue sets in real quick and the person will get into auto motion and in reality is already a casualty, so you have to be careful there. Ask questions. Watch for response. Also, again, it doesn't make any difference whether they're going to quote-unquote, tough it out. Remember, we don't want somebody, somebody who doesn't have their gloves or cold weather gear on, you're going to tell them that they're going to put it on. Why? Unless we're in contact, and even if we are, remember trigger finger mittens and gloves are designed to be used with the weapons. But an individual who becomes exposed, then trying to bring them back up online in the field is that much tougher. So you need to pay attention to make sure that we don't have any feet frozen, fingers frozen, nose or ear tips. Everything needs to be covered. And we're in sub-zero weather right now with the kind of weather we're having. Ooh, it's classic Michigan snow weather. It's classic Michigan ice fishing weather. And again, the basic rules apply. We're not trying to look cool. You'll notice in the movies, the cool guy doesn't wear the hat. Somehow he always loses his helmet or he always loses his hat, which is a crock of BS. That's for the sake of well we paid him four million dollars and his hairstyle is just it's so perfect and by the way his face is so cool of course now if he's out there in that sub-zero weather pretty soon body parts will be getting black and falling off if we're anybody else So the basic rule again is I don't care how hairy and purty your hair is. I don't want to see it. Okay cover that you know get a cover on the head use the use the hoods wherever possible Also watch for the reverse problem, which is overheating How's everybody doing temperature wise little sway if you're feeling like you're gonna get a little sweaty ventilate open up the top of that parka open up the top of that field jacket Pay attention also to foot a large and ask people about that because they make a big mistake. Go ahead color I just kind of wanted to chime in a little bit. It's very important that we get some, you know, after loading is, you want to make sure that you have the proper. The antiques, by the way, guys, there are Arctic military US antiques available. A cheap one that actually still works pretty well. They're the East German winter antiques. All they did is took their standard antiques and put an insulating material around it. Coleman's has some of these, I think. They're kind of getting along in the tooth, guys. There's not a whole lot of those left. If you run into them, that's something that you can load up. And by the way, use Mike Nasser's Gatorade mix. Make up your own homemade Gatorade. It's got a little bit of salt in it, so it's not going to freeze up as easily. That's part of the rehydration process, is putting minerals back into the system. So the advantage there is that actually you're going to be in the process actually creating a field kit that is probably not going to lock up as quickly. It's not going to freeze in any of your canteens, but especially if you've got a good winter kit, again carrying these winter canteens is a plus. It's what it was designed to do. You can also heat the stuff up a little bit when you put it in the canteen to begin with, just to reverse what you do when you're trying to create cold water for summer operations, for hot weather conditions. So take advantage of those. They're out there. Right now it seems like there's a wave of these that are coming through the DOD, the traditional round winter canteens and the covers. In fact, if you need covers, go to sales and also go to the clearance section and scroll through. They had covers separate. A couple of the other companies do too and I think even Maine Military has some of the canteens, but I don't think they have, I think they're out of covers. I believe they had some canteens, but they didn't have spare covers for them. So it's a mix. If you look at them two places, you'll probably get everything you need. And rehydration, especially critical. By the way, you do this, you get everybody to understand this part of your SOP. At a given point during the stop, everybody is going to drink something. It's that simple. Half the team gets something to drink real quick, the other half is watching. When the first half is done, the other half of the team gets their drink. Make sure that while you're doing that as a team leader, you're checking your troops, you're looking at their eyes, you're watching their hands. Make you have them flex their fingers. How are their feet feeling? Can they feel their feet? They've got the right footwear on. Again, If they show up with regular boots, try to get everybody at least into a pair of rubber rain boots, regular buckle boots, or the army version that have the rubber band cross over for locking them down. It doesn't mean it's what it is, but it will help tremendously to keep in the heat. and keep the feet from going cold. Of course Mickey Mouse boots are a given. And if you have a lot of money, some of you have spent big money on other boots too. Whichever you're using, well ride with that puppy and see how they work in this weather. Go ahead, caller. Anything else? I think that's a critical. Make sure that you, again, use it for training properly. Like, you know, it's a lot of everything that you can, you want work, so attend, even if something that works. Very good, exactly. And this is where we test during training operations, is where you test the system out to find out what works best. And if it looks like you need to replace it, don't throw out what you have there. Make sure you put it in your reserve system. If you already paid for it, it's already, again, useful equipment. It just may not have the depth that you need for this environment. But it's still, again, is better to have as a backup or to have as something to hand out to somebody who has absolutely nothing. Some people are going to show up bare butt naked and need to be completely outfitted top to bottom. This is how we build a 5-10 program up. If all else fails, it's the other stuff that you've experimented with and, well, it works but not quite the way I want it to or maybe it just doesn't work for me the way I want it. But for somebody else showing up that doesn't have anything, they'll be happy with it. It's a starter kit. They can strip off the enemy whatever else they think they need down the road. So it will work out for them. Again, the big thing here, pay attention to your environment. We're looking at cold, wicked cold, but it's not wet. In fact, I've been running out of this stuff on and off other than just the usual physical exertion, which, remember guys, you're pulling your leg. You're not just moving through this stuff. You've got constant resistance. If you're breaking a new trail and you're the point man, you're burning a lot of calories, but you're also in the initial stages building back up muscle that you haven't used in a while because you're pulling, not just pushing. You're actually moving, having to use more muscles to get through the obstacle. In this case, the resistance with snow on the ground. Kind of like when you first go skiing at the beginning of the ski season, if you go water skiing. You get up off the water and you're able to ski around for a bit, but there are certain muskles that just don't feel right. Why? Haven't used them in a while because all of your leg muscles being used to keep you up on those skis. The same is true with cold weather operations because you're keeping in specs, especially if you have exposed areas, you have ice. Your muscles are preventing you from moving farther, not just moving, but preventing you from moving farther and extending muscles or damaging tens or whatever. And that process wears on your system. So go out and work a little bit right now and walk in this stuff. It's a good idea. It will give you a chance to feel your field where you need to do a little more workout. But no matter how you do it, even if you try to prep for it, there's nothing like direct application in the actual environment. So again, getting out there and doing a few things outside wouldn't be a bad idea in general anyway, even if it's just a walk with a couple of family members or something. Again, if you're out there working on livestock or whatever, you already know what I'm talking about. Just like driving, we get our snow legs. Well, the same is true when you're out there and the snow is two feet deep or 18 inches deep like we've got here right now, blowing and drifting now a little bit. On top of that, at night, it is crystal clear and we have a moon. It's not a big moon, but because it's so clear, you don't need a flashlight out there right now. It's something to take into consideration. Good, Mark. Good opportunity. Go ahead, caller. Who else do we have? Jump in there. Hi, Mark. It's Tim. How are you this evening? Very good. What's going on? Hey, listen. I was listening to you this morning and you were talking about long jones and I know you were just talking about operating in the cold weather and, hey, things I wanted to add about that. I have considerable amount of experience with physical cold weather, considering that I've been for 35 years and done a lot of work in weather just like what we're having. For a long time, I used long jogs also. Then I found that sweatpants and sweatshirts even better. I'll tell you the reason why. Number one, when I was working as a carpenter, a lot of times, not only did I have bags on, I would also have a full body harness because a lot of the work that I did was currently work and scaffold work and stuff like that and When you get all your clothes on and you've got all this gear on You want to be able to move and I found that sweatpants and sweatshirts are allowed for more freedom of movement and then the other thing is that Long johns because they're very tight-fitting if you have a lot of hair on your body long johns have a tendency to rub the hair right off of your body if you wear them a lot. Are you saying you won't have to shave? I know you won't have to shave in those areas. The cuffs at the bottom, although not all of them have the tight cuff, but the cuff at the bottom and along the waist area. I'm not talking about just the cuffs, I'm talking about your whole legs and arms. Oh yeah. I had the hair worn off my legs and my arms because of hair and long jacks. to add. Also, you can go to Wally World or someplace like that or Farm and Fleet and you can buy sweatpants and sweatshirts for like $5.00. Remember, I mentioned the sweat gear too. That was an option for people. Remember, that's one of the things that it's a matter of a combination of wallet and personal choice, maybe what they're familiar with. It's a matter, again, of to what degree they're going to be working in and working with the material. As you pointed out, the web gear being the big thing, it's no different from the safety and no-fall harnesses you probably were hooking up to on the scaffolding. And a lot of what you would combat harness, you're going to be carrying about 35 pounds of junk, at least in terms of mags and ammo. Most of the time when I was working, when I would work concrete gain forms, you're climbing up and down 25 and 30 foot tall gain forms all day or you're climbing up and down scaffolding, it could be 100 feet in the air. A lot of times I had on. I weighed it a couple of times and it would amount to 35 to 40 pounds. Anyway, you had sweatpants and sweatshirts. They allow for more freedom of movement. That's what I found. Again, one of the other things that I, well, in this area, you see it varies from parts of the country to the other, but we're in a resource rich area because we're near Ann Arbor, Michigan. A lot of people with more money than brains toss out stuff left and right, either at the resale shops or again, yard sales. You can pick up virtually boxes and boxes. You can fill boxes with sweat sets. Obviously, we prefer tactical colors or at least subdued colors. Bright oranges and blues aren't your first best choice. But again, if it's just going to be around the area of operation where you are for cold weather gear, it's more layers to put on anyway. Again, for use around the area of activity where it's residential or whatever, hey, grab whatever you can get. But tactical colors, the Carhartt browns, the chocolate browns, Obviously, the greys are out there in force and it doesn't mean every suit has any logos on it. It's going to be underneath something else anyway. You're going to have it underneath a coat, a jacket, a little jacket or whatever. That's another thing I've found is that you mentioned car hearts and a lot of guys, they'll go out and they'll buy these insulated car hearts and you really do not need that because I have worked outside in weather like this. in 0 to 10 below 0 and all I had on as my legs went was a pair of sweatpants and a pair of uninsulated Carhartt hip overalls. And then I'd have like two or three sweatshirts and a hood sweatshirt and then maybe a windbreaker and that would be all I would have because if you're being physical out there you don't really need a pole lot. thing like you said many times, the thing that you really have to pay attention to are your feet. And I have experienced frostbite on several occasions. I have to pay attention to that. And so that's another thing like you said many times, you really have to pay attention to your feet. And especially through watching other people, when you get into cold fatigue, people get drowsy, they actually will continue to function. This is a mistake most people make. become a drone. I've watched this over and over again. You literally the guy in front of you, you're moving as a unit guys and you're in the field. You'll have guys that are you know start to fade on you but they'll they as long as they can see the other guy's leg move they'll move. And especially when you're moving forces in numbers for distance in sub-zero or cold weather. So that's where the team leaders and the fire you know the fire team leaders and the squad leaders really have to pay attention. If you're in smaller formations and you're just moving around. People have a tendency to move in a fog. They can do that. People will do that. But in the meantime, there's damage being done we can't fix easily. Yes, that's where you need the buddy system because even like you said, the team leaders and the squad leaders, they're equally susceptible and even maybe more so because they're under more stress. They've got to have somebody paying attention to them. That's the reason why, like you said, You have the buddy system and you pay attention to each other and how your buddies do it. The experience with the two young men, weather just like we're having tonight, in fact it's exactly like the night this happened. Got about 106 men that I'm moving in the field. It's company strength. We've got another aggressor force in the field. Subzero weather, exactly as clear as it is right now. Beautiful weather. Snow just as heavy as it is right now. We had been operational during the day. Bunch of people got wet running around. Well, what we didn't know is two of the younger men had decided that they were going to change boots. So they switched out from their cold, standard weather boots with their gear and they put jungle boots on because they didn't want to be left behind. Now they thought since they'd be moving and not thinking about what we'd explain, you know, jungle boots breathe guys. When you move your foot they pump air. Now, these were a nice black set of jungle boots because they were coming in all colors and they had for quite some time. This is quite a few years ago now. But the fact of the matter is that while we're moving, I'm up front of the formation and I can hear somebody groaning. Now, everybody else is in the same boat because they're fighting the cold and they're all bundled up and I can hear somebody making noise. So I halted the formation and I called back through and I quietly passed back through. Hey, who's making the noise? One of the other sergeants comes up and says, well, we got a couple of guys aren't feeling good. Well, so we go back and looking down and again, it was bright like tonight, but I still wanted to see what they were doing, so I cupped a flashlight and I pull your foot up because we're out into boot deep snow. And it's like, oh, hell no. Well, these guys, of course, were biting the bullet. We were more than a couple miles out from the demarcation point would be considered the FIBA, the four edges of the battle area. So I got to turn around and I signed two individuals for each one person to take them back. Now, I just put six people out of operation, guys. I had a company strength formation. I had so many men in the formation. We know there's an aggressor unit. This is a freestyle operation. But because of what happened there and not knowing for sure where they would fall, in other words, even with one person with them, that person can't carry that person through this environment. It isn't going to happen. It takes two men for every casualty. But, because of that, we had to take them back to the starting point, get them back from there to the inside. Nancy actually was treating them in warm water the whole nine years. They were on the edge of frostbite. They weren't out that long, but look at the weather and the environment. Now, granted, we should have been better. Everybody was in a hurry because it was just after dark. Again, this is where everybody has to inspect equipment. This is where I don't be embarrassed because I touch gear. This is another thing to remember, guys. You don't try to be, oh, I'm manly and we don't know. You check gear. I'll give you an example. Canteen is the same way. Tap the canteen. If you hear thunk, thunk, thunk, that's because somebody doesn't want to carry the extra weight, but then so they're not carrying their own water. Okay, all these things, that's why you check equipment. You actually shake a little bit. What do you got making noise? What is it going clunk, clunk, clunk? And again, while you're at it, each person, the buddy system like you said, the team leaders, the squad leaders, just like diving, in cold weather you go slower, you pay attention to detail, and you focus to make sure that you get to where you need to go. Don't worry, you're going to get warm real fast once you get to the point of contact. Of course, there's also a whole lot of dullness waiting for. If you're setting up an ambush or if you're involved in any kind of weight because of coordination, you hurry up and wait, as they say. You get to a location, now you're stuck sitting there. Now you better be prepared to pay attention, especially because now, on top of that, people have the ability to settle in and start to get comfortable and fade off. And that in and of itself means there's lack of activity. They're not moving their fingers, they're not moving their toes. More cold weather casualties. So we need to pay attention to that and not only stuff you're out here in the snow trudging around and you exhaust yourself Okay, guys get to the point of you know the final objective and they're able to settle in and you'll hear you know Go tap him. Okay tap him right now No, and by the way check him over so it's it can happen a hundred different ways It can be cold or warm weather but most is most especially in cold weather where we have cold some Sub-zero like this guys, constantly paying attention. And again, don't be embarrassed to ask questions or think you have to be nice. Your job is to make sure that your fighting force gets from where it started to where it needs to be and then back if at all possible in one piece. Or at least with all the parts. Maybe not all in one piece, but you're dragging your casualties back with you. So that's the other half of the battle. The fewer people you have injured, the more people you have to help out with the people who are when the time comes. which is another part of the battle. So again, the war in and of itself is separate, just fighting cold weather. And it's something that we are going to have to deal with, we are going to have to face, and we're going to have to be prepared for. Go ahead, Tim. Anything else jump in there, please? No, that's all I had to say this evening. I know you messaged me on Facebook last week, and maybe we can talk about what you talked about on Wednesday. Sounds good.
