Great ocean-going ships, obviously, will be with the lake freighters. at a given point actually a many of them get not only docked guys they get dry docked actually get pulled out of the water and they're all there left on shore for the season uh... many of you the great the for years well there's usually a last run just like when there's a run to the locks for the upper uh... great lake lake superior also final runs now sometimes you have been good times as with the wreck of the air travel everybody recognizes that because it's a ship they sang about but it's not the only one in fact color of the map of the Great Lakes, little dots and wrecks everywhere. There are some places are hundreds resting on the bottom. Hundreds. You know, again, check out, you'll do a little history of your own country. You don't have to go overseas to find interesting things to check out. It's just they don't want anybody to think about it. These lakes are and very impressive. to say the least. But there's a lot of treasure down there. They don't want anybody to think about either. Treasure is for as long as we've had man on the Great Lakes, cargo have gone to the bottom. And all of those ships typically were carrying bank transfers and those would, some of that cargo was quite steep. It's why you don't see a whole lot of documentary on that. Early 60s, actually, the parameters were laid down about 1955-56, same as when the primary NATO weapons system were being uh... and there was a good great in going up system was a super slash a we all the weapon from minimal cost how can we make it happen hush an offshoot of the pause was the flesh at rifle program flesh at rifle program when in two directions one was with a conventional case however the other was utilizing So, wait a minute Mark, I've heard of that before. Now what this does is, you know, whatever carbon product is produced. Now what this does is also, of course, eliminates the need for extraction. A brass case flying out because there wasn't one. Now this is a caseless project. Now, the caseless project, everything mechanically worked. Now this is the most important thing to understand and wrap your brain around. The caseless project, everything worked. Most important is a magazine, very small, that basically is a lot smaller and easier to manage because well it doesn't it's not going to be it's not uh... carrying the brass be a little lighter because of weight taken off etcetera etcetera so you have a what is the equivalent to a chemical polymer case running through a magazine that is injected into the ball and shoved into the chamber and then it activated guys what's the difference between that case was ammunition idea nothing but a stable in case I mean by a save one talk about a piece of cast plastic either a clamshell type or a butterfly type that ensconces that holds a bullet into place now if I get that to be to index uniformly and to repeat it with with with total efficiency if I can get that to load into an air like an air like oh that's right a paint gun with high pressure all small aperture to focus more energy and push the Scarding Sabo caseless round downrange at thousands of feet per second to worry about an ejection port and my magazine system where it goes pop pop pop pop pop pop pop pop until it runs out and then I changed mags. This semi-auto or full-up already working. It's already done, right? The magazine feed system idea was already perfected. Being Sabo projectile could be loaded. All we have to do is slash brainchild, you know, brainstorm the magazine system. And not only is it simple, it's now here's another consideration. One of the things that would change, it's kind of like when they built the Gatling gun, and then turn the Gatling gun into the GE electric minigun that you all know today. You know how they did that at Aberdeen Proving Grounds, some sergeant looked at a Gatling gun and said, why don't we put a motor on this? And they have pie most people can't put their brain around this. When you, our military, our government, in industry, in all categories, we have piles of stuff laying around, but at Aberdeen they have piles of weapon systems. Going back to muzzle loaders, but they have piles, rooms, stacks, floors, small artillery tubes, multiple copies of things, piles of stuff to test or to cut up and use for other projects. Well, what they did, they took the Gatling gun, which was a hand crank system, and they said, hey, let's take a car, starter motor and put it on the side of the Gatling gun and let's see how long she'll fire before something breaks. Only at piles of the ammunition and by the way don't think 40 don't think 45-70 and don't think 30-40 Craig for the Gatling gun. US military produced 30-06 Gatling guns from about 1900 actually 1902. The Gatling gun was the heavy machine gun of the US Army right through war one. 30-06 That's right, 30 caliber. Now this means lots and lots of modern ammunition was available for that GE experiment, actually for that experiment by the guy, the sergeant at Aberdeen. And he started pushing the button on the motor, the motor would run. You know, they run it so many, you know, because the variables speed up at 1 RPM and they'd watch and then they'd pick it up and then they kept firing until something snapped. Experiment, then they disassembled the gun, identified what broke, took the part that they wanted that mashed it over to the machine shop and made it out of modern 4140 or 4130 chromoly steel. The older metals that were used, also they beefed it up where they made it heavier. They put the part back in the gun, started the experiment up again. Another part finally broke. Back over to the machine shop, built a newer part made out of stronger, newer, familiar materials. By the time they were done at the end of the test cycle, they had a Gatling gun that was like, you know, it was like taking a 57 Chevy and putting a Hemi, you know, putting a Hemi under the hood and modifying the suspension and putting a Hurst lap shifter transmission on it. And yeah, go right down the list of what can you do to modify it. The Gatling gun was on steroids and it was the premise for what would become the GE Mini Gun concept. The project initially cost a little of nothing except for some raw materials stock out of the machine room and a Gatling gun that had been paid for back in probably 1904-1905. Ammunition varied from World War II to you know this OTSIX was very much in readily available supply and piles of it everywhere. Once the basics had been understood and perfected streamlining and reconfiguring the process would then apply.
