Summary
Mark Koernke and Don Betcher discussed firearms, ammunition, and preparedness on Weapons Wednesday. The show covered .45 ACP handguns and carbines, including the 1911, Browning BAR, and various lever-action rifles in pistol calibers. They analyzed ammunition scarcity, rising firearm prices, and the disappearance of cheap imports like Makarovs and SKS rifles from the market. The hosts reviewed budget options for building rifles using Remington 700 receivers and barrels from CDN Investments, emphasized proper shooting technique and tactical positioning in combat situations, and discussed night vision equipment available through Don's contact number.

He took off his three-cornered hat, and speaking low to me, he said, We've fought a revolution to secure our liberty. We wrote the Constitution as a shield from tyranny. For future generations, this legacy we gave. In this, the land of the free and home of the brave. The freedoms we secured for you, we hoped you'd always keep. The tyrants labored endlessly while your parents were asleep. Your freedom's gone, your courage lost, you're no more than a slave. In this, the land of the free and home of the brave. You buy permits to travel and permits to own a gun. Permits to start a business or to build a place for one. On land that you believe you own, you pay a yearly rent. Although you have no voice in saying how the money's spent. Your children must attend a school that doesn't educate and your Christian values can't be taught according to the state You read about the current news in a regulated press and you pay a tax you do not owe to please the IRS Your money is no longer made of silver nor of gold you trade your wealth for paper so your life can be controlled You pay for crimes that make our nation turn from God and shame You've taken Satan's number. You've traded in your name. You've given government control to those who do you harm so they could burn down churches and seize the family farm and keep our country deep in debt. Put men of God in jail. Harash your fellow countrymen while corrupted courts prevail. Your public servants don't uphold the solemn oaths they've sworn. And your daughters visit doctors so their children will be born. Your leaders send artillery and guns to foreign shores and send your sons to slaughter fighting other people's wars. Can you regain the freedoms for which we fought and died? Or don't you have the courage or the faith to stand with pride? And are there no more values for which you'll fight to save? Or do you wish your children to live in fear and be a slave? O sons of the Republic, arise, take a stand, defend the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the land, preserve our great Republic and each God given right, and pray to God to keep the torch of freedom burning bright. As I awoke, he vanished in the mist for whence he came. His words were true, we are not free, but we have ourselves to blame. For even now as tyrants trample each God given right we only watch in tremble too afraid to stand and fight if he stood by your bedside to dream while you were asleep and wondered what remains of the freedoms he'd fought to keep What would be your answer if he called out from the grave? This distilled the land of the free Good evening, ladies and gentlemen, this is the evening intelligence report timer, Krunke. And I'm Don Betcher. I'll tell you, it is a But a perfect day today, gonna get cool tonight, damp tonight, everybody cover stuff up. I've had to get some tools put away and actually still stacking that truck load of firewood I got for free. A kiln dried hardwood flooring cut perfectly to the lengths of my fireplace. Ooh, can't pass that up. So anyway, it was a freebie and all of it ready to go. And so I'm done with the program. I'll be right back out there finishing up the last arm load that needs to be stacked neatly into the fire boxes. Don, what's it like in your neck of the woods? And what is this date today, sir? Well, on the second day of now, you could say the sun is down. It's about the night vision. I just thought I'd mention longer. Nights are getting longer. It is, again, a particular day, second day of 2013. So with that in mind, we're just going to fill the magazine well with a magazine. release and man, there's one in the chamber now and you know what, I'm going to drop that magazine out and put one from, oh that chicklet that was there a moment ago, it goes down and back in the magazine and then guess what, the magazine goes back in the magazine well and we can tell everybody it is, Weapons Wednesday, the perimeter is secure and there is plenty more where that came from, you just sometimes have to dig for it. And that means we can offer equal opportunity course of force when needed in this case with the superb hand cannon the 1911 pattern pistol and 45 ACP More than a hundred years old and in pretty much every war we've been in for the last hundred years plus defending America on American soil for just as long so the 1911 45 there are some odd men out in 45 caliber guns. There's newer stuff including obviously it's not the odd man per se but Glock makes a 45. There's a bunch of star pistols though that post date the 1911 frame in terms of star shooting off in a unique direction because they were very very popular for quite some time still out there in force and the star is still you know available for sale but the Brigadier was the next step in the 1911 in the Star Line. Lamas of course came up with their version of this with a staggered magazine carrying 14 rounds. These guns were made in the 80s. Actually they were quite a successful and popular design for a little bit, Don, because they were both double and single action, depending on the gun. If you've got them out there, the big thing is magazines, magazines, magazines. Now, like some of these other staggered .45s that have come out recently, the P-series being the best example, they were popular when they came out and then faded because the next du jour flavor of gun was on the market. I have one of those in reserve inventory because I picked it up for a great price, couldn't complain about it at all. uh... one of our gentlemen friends uh... had had it since it was produced the weapons themselves are very reliable actually quite desirable big thing is ammunition ball ammunition is still the preferred by i'd personally prefer it for most of forty five work uh... although the brigadiers when they came out were uh... uh... throat and so they can handle on cutter all the other fun stuff they were coming out of the factory that way uh... these guns were Well, magazines were about $18 a piece new, which you got to differentiate, guys. Remember that? That doesn't sound too bad. Well, you got to remember that's back in the 80s dollars. So that's 20 plus years ago. And money was worth a hair more, at least a little bit more. Look at the graph that shows you what the devaluation of the currency is. By comparison, the 1911 mags, which you could buy all day for $2. It was like, whoa, $18 a piece? Yeah, but you got a 14 round magazine. So it was pretty cool. The big thing there was magazine catches. Each gun has something you want to keep an eye on. With the Brigadiers and with the staggered .45s made by Star and Llama, the magazine catches were the odd man out as far as spare parts and something that when they first came out with them, they had to, you know, originally they were a little lighter and they would wear. Now, it wasn't a problem immediately, but if you did a lot, a lot, a lot, a lot of shooting, there were comments made in the shooting sections about the magazine release. So I would highly recommend it if you have one. Start tracking down spare parts for your gun. They are out there. e-circoinc.com. Sarco has a lot of odds and ends parts for guns like that. And Gun Parts Corporation. So if you do have one, and maybe it's got a magazine latch problem, it's worn, it's tired. uh... and you need to replace it will don't get rid of the original one but give them a call given the specs tell them what you want make sure you order one right away just bring it up to speed uh... it these do not take standard anything in magazines there they were staggered volume magazine a big you know again uh... chunk uh... chunky uh... clunky forty five and it was a first full forty five rounds okay a big fiscal For big handed guys, no problem. Everybody else, typically two handed, you know, combat stance was your best choice for control. And a good gun, I wouldn't hesitate to give it to me. I know exactly how to make that weapon work. I carried that all over the country, to be quite honest. It was carried everywhere around the country for millions of miles, along with several other weapons. So, The 45 odd man outs include and yes Don they they were they were made years ago We knew this but back years ago in the 80s the Chinese brought in a whole bunch of Well, the Chinese didn't do it people were buying those broom handle mousers that do the change you're like you guys want these And so they couldn't wrap their brain around collecting to begin with. And a lot of broom handles in the 7.62x25 showed up in force. The bolos, the 6-inch guns, snubbies, even some snubbies. But then everybody kept asking, hey, what about those 45 broom handles? Now anybody knew anything about broom handles in China China built a lot of broom handle mousers and they made 45 ACP broom handles low and behold Some of the used ones came in and they really were quite cheap some people actually kick themselves in the arse When they first came in they were $150 apiece when all the others were $60 And everybody goes, well, that's a lot of money for a broom handle, used broom handle mouse. Or it's like, well, have you ever seen a 45 broom handle mouse or before? Well, no. I said, well, that's why it's $150. But it still give away prices. So a lot of people balked at that. Then when the next wave came in, they were the ones that were in nice shape. And for about $1,700 you could have a .45 caliber Bruhannell Mauser. Oh, that's a far cry from $150. So now again, everything would be unique on the gun because it had the same internal magazine, you know, forward to the trigger. Obviously a larger bolt face. Everything had to be proportion for the 1911, but it certainly was a sewer pipe. And I got to tell you, two of those in your hands, it makes you feel like your Buck Rogers. You know what I mean? Two broom handle mousers are just classic. It's just like 245s are really hefty too, but there's something about the broom handle mouser. It always looked like a Star Wars blaster. Gee, Han Solo carried one, remember? With a pretty Shenfield flash hider on the, you know, muzzle number five jungle carbine flash hider adapted to it, which is why it looks so cool. But otherwise, again, it's just two of those. You got 10 rounds each, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop, pop. And if you had the Schnelf pistol, then you had interchangeable drop magazines, guys. And oh, then they were fun. Now, those have been coming in, and there's conversions for those. And in fact, Sarco and one or two other companies, if you have the Broomhandle Mauser in 7.62x25, the conversion kit for those to make your broom handle magazine fed. I don't know if you'd want to do it, but if you decided maybe you had one that was really beat up and you didn't care, there you go. They've actually got detachable magazine models available. All the conversion parts are on hand. It was a company that did this back in the 90s. The Broomhandle Mausers ran out, and so they sold the stock to somebody else who then sold it to Sarco and Apex Gun, etc. So those are out there too. Now the other 45s are a totally different class of weapon. The 451911 Don has here is a personal protection hand cannon, but there are car beans to match to it. And Don, there's some Marlin car beans out there that'll work just fine with your magazines, won't they? Oh yeah, and with that magazine, you know, the same bullet. Sometimes we down-trod the cowboy thought line, but that ain't a bad idea. Same bullet for the handgun, same bullet for the light rifle. Ain't a bad idea at all. And in fact Marlin also remember we've talked about the Marlin Camp Carbine is what it was called. There have been a few reinventions of the idea. I don't see why Marlin discontinued it. I think it was a very foolish mistake on their part. I don't know who was running their business or who put their head up their arse, but the two Marlin Camp Carbines, one used a standard staggered Beretta type mag, the other one used the 1911-45 mag. This meant that as long as you, and in fact we actually experimented, a whole lot of other staggered mags fit in the Marlin Camp Carbine guys. Whether that was intentional or just purely an accident, amazingly enough, not only did they fit, but many different mags work. Just something that most people don't know about because they've never experimented with that The big thing is that Marlin discontinued it and I think it's kind I've heard that it's chugging back into service somehow or at least there's some showing up where they came from who knows maybe they were police department guns, but If you do have them, don't let anybody talk you out of those as far as getting rid of them. They're nice, comfortable rifles to shoot. The other category I haven't talked about in a while, which are in the same niche, are the high point carbines. And high point has been cranking out everything, but try to find them on the market. As quick as they show up, they're gone. And that's true if you go anywhere around through the system. You'll find used ones here and there on occasion, very rarely now. And not many people are selling anything, they're buying more. And if somebody is selling something, other people are picking it up, cleaning it up, riding with that puppy and putting it in their inventory. So there are a number of other weapons that are in that class. There were even some bolt 9 millimeters made, guys. And 9 millimeter parabellum or 9 millimeter Steyr. Now the Steyr is basically a 38 super or you know 38 auto load Longer case and 9 millimeter most of these that came in were destroyer carbines from Spain a lot of people took those and put a muffler on the end of them Why well if you use a subsonic round and you put a muffler on a closed bolt system There's nothing to hear There's no slapping of any action. There's no movement. So consider. That's why another pistol rifle combination was kind of cool. There were some Dassault bolt action Enfield conversions made. Now the Enfield lends itself to a lot of adaptability because of the way the bolt is built. Now we've talked about this before. Each gun has unique problems and unique advantages. The end field closes on a cocks on the closing stroke and a lot of people have tough time getting used to that but once they do they can get over it. Now, the other cool thing about that is that the infield bolt you don't change the whole bolt when you have a tired bolt. You don't change the barrel out even. What do you do? You have variable spaced heads that screw onto the end that make up the face of the bolt. They are numbered. When your gun gets a little sloppy, they go up to the next size bolt, guys, next size head. Now because of this, you can also unscrew that and put other types of faces on that bolt assembly, one that can handle the 1911-45 ACP case. And with a little more effort, you actually, and what the Brits did, they used these for sentry removal guns. They put a muffler on the end of a short barrel. They took the stamped magazine well and adapted a 1911 seven-shot magazine to that weapon. What they came up with was a very clean, ultra-quiet hush puppy rifle. But it's not semi-auto. Well, if you hit them and you might be highly motivated to do that because if you're using a silencer and you had to be quiet, missing is really not an option. See how that works? You might be peeling the guy. Maybe he doesn't notice. This is not a comedy. Remember the one where the, oh, what was it? Hot Shots, part 2, where he's firing at him with bow and arrow and he keeps missing over and over again. The guy keeps missing what he's doing until, you know, the very last shot with the chicken. The same could be said if you're not careful with a silence gun, but it ain't gonna happen that way because we got to remember there's a point of impact. This is what everybody forgets. It's not a movie. The quiet, suspenseful music does not cover up the sound. So you're standing there and all of a sudden something goes, BOOM! And you look over and while you ducked or moved a little bit and there's a hole in the wall, Don this is a war zone. I just don't know where that bullet could be coming from I'm gonna stare at that bullet in awe that's not like curly. Oh, yeah Hey, Mo cabbages. Oh 45 bullet round in the wall I hate to tell you that most people that are you know adapted to the battlefield Situation are not gonna be standing there waiting for you to hit him with the second round because you missed Exactly. Okay, they get highly motivated to call you know, it's called survival and live and you're not going to shock and amaze a whole lot of people contrary to the BS you see in most of these movies. It doesn't work that way. Anybody who knows they're in a fighting situation or in a security situation, first time I can recognize a threat, trust me, you're not going to see me. Now, we're shifting over to that ever so slightly shifting your position. Maybe I should move. They might have some idea where I am. Remember, this is where the objective is to meet a very specific narrow parameter with regard to end result. It's where practice and performance kick in. uh... repeat repeat repeat training training training dry run training and then final activity it's not just we're going to do this this and this and well let's just try it it doesn't work that way guys uh... sf units c l units i don't care what it is all the spiffy s s everybody practices practices practices when they have a a mission statement then the uh... n c l in the o i c get together and they figure out how to make that program work that plan work Once they've mapped out what they're going to do based upon intelligence mapping and all the other material that's available, they come up with a plan of action and then they first walk through it. Actually, obviously first you talk through it. Then you walk through it. Then you run through it. And then you practice fighting through it. over and over and over. you become focused on your particular task in the overall mission and all the pieces come together. So again, the 45 and the 45 carbine are very, very handy but there's 9 mils. The other thing you mentioned, Don and guys, these are coming out again in force. I don't know if anybody notices. CDN and Investments even has a whole pile of them. Lever action, cowboy caliber, pistol caliber guns. .357 Magnum, .44 Magnum, but also in the traditional calibers .44-40, which used to be pretty common and now is expensive, even though it shouldn't be, because it's no more difficult to make than .44 Magnum, and yet costs more than .44 Magnum, which is ridiculous. But these rifles are carbine or saddle guns. So what you're looking at is a light rifle, large magazine capacity, that you can mate up with that Black Hawk single action or that Smith and Wesson K-frame or J-frame or now J-frame is a little small but you might be carrying a J-frame because that's what you got, little backup gun. But a K-frame, an N-frame, an L-frame, all of those, .357 Magnum, pop, pop, boom, boom. There you go, good combination. One caliber and you have something that offers good range in the rifle configuration. Good knockdown power is a hand cannon. Typically in .357, if you've got anything in about a 6 inch barrel though, you can reach rifle ranges comfortably. Once you know how your weapon impacts, what it does, how it performs. A lot of people take deer every year with a 6 or 8 inch Smith K frame or end frame here in Michigan. And all over the country it's the same way. So just what we want to remind you of guys, it's not like it can't be done. Which means if you can shoot Bambi with that 200 grain slug out of that .357, I guarantee if you hit somebody you're probably going to end up with the same kind of sustainable damage. In other words, poom-poom, it's going to go through and body tissue bone will be affected the same way. Bambi gets knocked down at 125 to 200 yards of that pistol. I guarantee you can do the same thing with the same effort. So does that bull move? Oh yeah, exactly. Now again, down in night vision technology, we're almost to the bottom of the hour here. You have it. You also have certain material available. We won't worry about putting something on a handgun, but we know that we can put it on a light rifle, shotgun with rifles, slug, etc., etc. What do you have available and how can we get hold of you? Well, if you want to talk to me about night vision, hey, my phone number is 231-796-8458. Again, 231-796-8400. goggles or gun sights, green screens are thermal, that first generation gun sight, that's a green screen device, 308 capable. It'll live on top of your FN, your M1, your AR-10, again, 308 capable. So, and it's a first generation device and you know what, it's not a PVS2. It took a long time for a first generation device to come around. It is, you know, main battle rifle, sustainable recoil, lived through it, you know, in fact, the manufacturer's gonna warranty it for two years. It's not going to fail coil you guys. We can do that in second generation. Again, a main battle rifle recoil, you know, sustainable in second generation. The first generation right in your mailbox $429. The second generation right in your mailbox $1305 right in your mailbox. Give me a call. The number is 2317968458. Again, 231798458. We can talk about thermal gun sight. or simply thermal viewers. Again, gun sites, give me a call you guys. The number is 231-796-8458. Thank you Mark. And by the way, I'm sorry, I missed something here. Alex in Southern California in SoCal, there was a question asked on about The Browning sub-automatic rifle, it's not the BAR, but it is a BAR, Browning Auto-Reluding Rifle. Magazine Feds, good weapon. A lot of our guys have used it in the last five to seven years that I know of. that are here locally, the guys that have the deep pockets by the HKs, they have several of them and they're very satisfied with them. It does have, of course, a magazine well for extended mags, so you can put whatever size mag you want to spend money on and what your wallet can afford. As far as performance goes, Don's night vision device would ride right on top of that BAR. and ride comfortably. It's set up for Rails magazine and the only thing that I don't believe most of them have is a flash compensator, but as I recall, there were two companies making M14 basket type flash hiders for the Browning. They are out there now. There was a big yap about that years ago When they were doing it because oh my god, it makes it a military type rifle. Well sold as a tactical police weapon a Lot of those actually I believe one has one model has a barrel nut has a stud done so that you can take that evil looking flash hider off and Fake everybody out thinking it's got a regular crown Oh, just so you feel good about it. Oh, thank God! That flash hider's gone! I felt so intimidated! Yeah, right. I shouldn't be intimidated by that standard barrel .308. It'll do the same damage you could with the flash hider on. But, ah, it's just me. I feel totally safe now. Now it's a non-firearm, don't you know? It's non-aggressive. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Shut up. Anyway, that was really the point for political correctness purposes. That's why they did it on certain models. I don't know if they've done it on all of them. I'm sure they make some that are just standard crown barrels. Some people, initially when the gun came out, even though they weren't available, they were going out and having armorers thread the barrels anyway and putting whatever custom flash hider was out there, you know, slash, you know, compensators, depending on the gun. Man preference of the shooter Reliability it's a browning. I used to be a browning distributor years and years and years ago guys They back their guns up. I will I'll tell you that the voiceman go with browning of America as far as replacing parts, but again, it's browning and that means expensive So that's the only I will point out in spare parts are expensive It used to be a weather redistributor. It had every weather bee you can imagine. It was a colt distributor. It had every colt you can think of. Imagine having a whole case of every python that existed at that moment. And I did. I mean literally we did. Every barrel length, every barrel weight, and every variation, and then all the change out grips you can imagine. And then the diamond back the same way. Weather bees. And in the Brownings, all the latest in the Brownings, Browning remember does make, as we were mentioning earlier, a whole bunch of lever guns, guys. and has made lever guns. Their Renaissance lever guns in the 70s were par excellence but you also paid for the quality. In other words, some people say you get what you pay for. Well, they were expensive because fit and finish and everything, they tuned every gun. And those were done in .44 mag and .357 Magnum lever guns. So they could made up to whatever pistol you chose, a wheel gun. At that time back in the 70s down, the big thing was the Black Hawk. get a Black Hawk with a 8 inch barrel and pick up a Browning lever gun in .357 and go to town. And if you wanted .44 mag, lots of stopping power that way too. That is a good combo and nothing to sneeze at. You can actually perform quite well. Somebody shows up at the dinner table, so to speak, or when we're starting to throw lead downrange against the enemy, I'm not going to complain if they show up with a Black Hawk revolver. What are you talking about? I don't want to get hit by it and I know the bad guys won't either once they see what happens. Especially since the person can contribute. Oh yeah. Yeah, so again, don't poo-poo any of those weapons. The wheel guns are not obsolete by any stretch and in fact in the long run, remember that wheel guns conserve brass. If you're trying to reserve brass to make sure you've got something to shoot the next day because you can reload, It carries it away for you. That's right. You got it where you can control it. And that means you dump all six or seven rounds into your hand, drop them into your dump pocket on the left side, next speed loader out, click boom. In fact, it takes longer to describe it. Once you're used to a wheel gun, if you've used it for any period of time, I used to carry typically 10 speed loaders. And if I carry a, actually a Taurus, I was also a Taurus distributor. The Taurus Model 66. which is beautiful. When it first came out butter action it definitely had the feel of a Colt but it had the action of a Smith and in that respect beautiful firearm that could drop rounds all day in that you would know that I wasn't carrying an automatic. Once you're cycled into that wheel gun and if you know how you place your rounds 6 inch Model 66 heavy barrel target sights target grip also had the rounded butt, micarta grip got those for cheap because people you know liked them and they didn't so again with whatever variation you build up those guns work just fine. The equivalent to the 66 is the Smith & Wesson Model 19. and the 19 has been around forever basically all the K frames model model 10 model 14 model 19 The target masters typically when you get into the 14 you're looking at a target master anyway All of those guns are more than serviceable though nowadays You'll probably think of them as grandpa's guns because you don't see as many of them out there on the on the counter personal preference We bought thousands of model tens guys I've made a point of making sure that many militia units have model tens Back when we were buying them cheap under $100, llamas, stars, Smith & Wesson's, all interchangeable for ammunition, all interchangeable for speed loaders, HSK speed loaders, and then Sierras came out big time from the cop shops. If you've got those, don't get rid of them. Just buy more ammo as you can find it. Buy more ammo. And in the long run, you'll have more to probably shoot than the average autoloader does. simply because you can control your brass. The other thing is you won't be leaving brass around so you can figure out what we were shooting them with and the cool part about that is you can take, like I said before, a 9mm bullet put in a .357 Magnum case and muck with them all day. So of course they can do ballistic checks on the barrels and the thread we know all that you know sure we could be the rifle ink but For the most part if you're just looking at bullets like wow No brass and it's 9 millimeter 120 grain 119 grain 125 grain and hitting a little faster than normal 9 millimeter parabellum coming out of a 6 inch 357, you know So just another consideration there in one of the many ways for with regard to solution now another thing And there isn't any cheap handguns out there, Doug. You're right. Nothing. I'm sorry, guys. I went through everything. The high point now is the cheapest handgun on the market again. For the longest time, you guys were buying those, I don't know how many of you are in the chat room or how many out there listening bought those. And they got revolvers when I told you to buy them when they were $79. Then they went to $99 and they stayed and hovered there for the longest time. Well, then Cabela's and all the box stores bought them up and apparently now they're not, I haven't seen them coming in at all. I mean, nobody's got any to speak of. There is ammunition still available and that's all coming from preview partisan although there is military ball in the cans. That is 762 Revolver. If you go either way, just keep perching. If you got the revolver, you were way ahead of the curve on everybody and you saved yourself a lot of hassle and heartburn. In terms of the price factor, which is now doubled and tripled, a cheap handgun right now is in the $200 range. Everybody notice that? The model CZ82s, Don, that we're going for about, what, $98 years ago when they first came in are averaging about $230 to $240 a piece. So that's the cheap handgun from the Euro Pocket Pistol market today. whereas before the Makarov, what, $69, $79, $89, those days are long gone, but for everybody who bought them, an example, the latest Makarov price for the latest wave of Makarov mags that came in, what was it, $21 a mag. Guys, we were buying those mags for 25 cents a piece and 50 cents a piece. Remember? So, yes, I am rubbing it in because for those who caught the wave back in the day and listen what we were talking about, those people are sitting comfortable. In fact, they could virtually equip an army for pennies on the dollar. And we will. That's why the Chinese stop bringing stuff in. Have you noticed that? When was the last time you shot brand new cases of Chinese ammunition? Or SKS's. Yeah, or SKS's brand new or AK's. Now they did bring some shotguns in and they're those 870 knockoffs and I've noticed that since they brought the two models in that's been it. I expected to at least see a couple more 22's but not even those have come in and no 22 ammunition any way shape or form. Not any good numbers. The other thing that's really obvious I keep asking everybody in the arms industry where'd all the Russian 22 steel case go? The Russians are cranking the snot out of that and they wanted to keep people employed, so why did they stop bringing the .22 ammo in? Think about it, guys. Again, the Russians, hey, they know there's a market here, so why didn't they at least fill in the blank? Because Russian wolf ammunition's coming in. Right? Don, you've seen it. Russian wolf .762 by 39, .762 by 54. Well, guys, why isn't wolf .22 coming in like it did? Stuff shot like wildfire. So there's something especially about that almost like their logic is that they're gonna disarm a whole bunch of you because you're you're not thinking their logic is we're still spraying and praying with the ammo and burning out a brick every time we go to the range and just not even worrying about hitting anything and That we're gonna keep doing that and we'll deplete our inventory. Well, everybody's buying this stuff, but there's nobody shooting it Not the way they were Now people are a lot more serious, which I think the bad guys really should you know they I don't think they realized what they did in that respect It's like we'll drive the price up and eat up all the resources and it's like no You drove the prices up and now everybody's focused on having to hit their target and actually become marksmen again rather than Playing with the guns and peppering you know if the Chinese did that did it the way they were a lot of people would still be spraying and praying That's one thing to think about too, the situation way it's mapped out. Anyway, I'll tell you what, off on another angle there, and I really, as much as anything, the .45, 1911, the other hand cannons, this is one of the reasons I haven't said go there and get. Even the Glocks, they've gone so stupid on the latest generation of pistol. Guys, you can get third generation pistol Glocks for $150 to $200 less per gun. Why would you buy the latest generation when you can get a second generation or third generation gun for half the price? It makes out of half. Yeah, it makes it, well it's the latest. Well that doesn't mean anything. You mean the old Glocks that are Gen 2s and Gen 3s don't work anymore? Oh, oh they do. So in reality, there's no real reason to be buying the Gen 4 at, you know, $600 when I can buy the Gen 2 for, you know, $300. and 315 and 290. See that's the way to look at it. And again buy Korean mags or bulk mags, make them work and go that direction. But that's again, that's a far cry from the $100 or $90 or $125 or $150 handguns we were looking at only two years ago. Or less depending on what we were able to find for you. I just can't find anything That's jumping off the wall in the price bracket that you know would it would allow people outfit the family the way that they were That's not an accident, and it's not that the weapons haven't been built here's another one that's disappeared from the market Don is Again, the not just the stars, but the Rossi revolvers Rossi has made some beautiful, in fact I really like their little J frame, 38 special with a 6 inch making it look like a baby python. They did a real good job of cleaning the lines up so they're all rounded out and weighted barrel, very flat shooting when it came out. A lot of it disappeared, I don't know. Stainless steel, All the features you need for a berry gun for the cash and a good firearm plus again a brass keeper. But Rossi's, what happened to writer Rossi go? I know the Interarms was the one that was pushing them into the country. It's not like Rossi really should have gone out of business because Rossi also went into the semi-automatic pistol market into the mid-range pistols. And it's just like, well they aren't coming in here anymore. Now you'll run into them. They're good weapons. Treat them right and just don't try to feed everything plus PM. I've said this a million times. If you're reloading, go for a middle load. You'll still do lots of damage, but you're going to get a lot more cartridges out of that pound of powder. And that's really what's going to count now guys is being able to get, we got to come up with a balance to make everything go farther. The bad guys are cutting off everything that they can. A lot of complaints also done the last couple days about powder inventory. But that shouldn't be a surprise because again, what did the ammunition manufacturers do? They ate it up. Yep. And they're gonna be prioritized if they can buy if you know What half a million pounds and you can only buy you know fake yeah eight pounds at a time I hate to tell you they're gonna get priority you know what I mean. It's just how it works And that's why again watch the tables for people selling out odds and ends inventory also buy the different reloading books with all the old spec powders in it because you will find a lot of Hodgson stuff and One of our guys at a yard sale here got 22 pounds of 1 pound cans. And he wasn't familiar with H110, which I think is kind of funny because that's one of those used to be the norm. But, you know, there's a lot of newer stuff. I tell you, well, that's your basic everything powder. Anything for light rifle. .223 M1 carbine. That's what it was originally built for. That's why it's H110. But as soon as he made a powder that was half the price of everybody else that they could get in quantity, then everybody will start using it and making it work. So, Hotch and H110 will work in 357 Magnum 38 Special. Any light big case can handle it. It is sharp. It's a sharp burner. It's got a hot bark to it because it was made for the carbine. So it will serve in a lot of other unique rounds that you've got out there like these stretched open 223 cases where you've got them in other calibers, whatever it is. The H110 powder will work for you. You just got to figure out what the load mass, you know, what the ratio is. And I think if you look around, you'll find some other people are already doing this because if you've got one of some of those unique rounds and you can't buy enough, you're having to load with what you got. And you reloaders, hand loaders, guys have a tendency to be creative. So, think it through. If not, maybe you'll be the person to set the standard for it. Unique powders, H110, all the dot powders. If you run into them, look for the older books with all the spec information for all the basic loads. I would not go hot. I would go mid-range. You'll still get plenty of energy. You'll do damage when you get to where you're going. The other thing is ready. Hey Mark. Go ahead, caller. Who do we have? Uh, real quick. You mentioned about N2, a more really cheap CDN in fact hold on I'm gonna pull it up and see what they have right now too because CDN and investments on their flyer They had 40 caliber and they had Nines their Gen 2s and they all okay. It's done. Oh, I really love blacks It's a great deal and choose to get a 40-cal when they first that they were going to read the albums and Yeah, I'm looking right now at the new flyer to see if they still they show the M&P 40 They've got all the HK pistols, but it's POR price on request. That's not good. You know how that is and Well, let's see the oh come on looks to me like the oh Well, they might have sold out. They might have actually sold out. Oh, no, they got the 22 traders. They got to model 22 trades Gen 2 and Gen 3, the present price now they start at is $339 a piece, so $340 a piece. 40 Smith and Wesson. Which, that's not a bad price for those, and those are Gen 2 and Gen 3 guns. Hopefully... Yeah, that's a pretty good price. I mean, again, I don't think there's much difference between 3 and 9mm. It's a great option, providing you on better if you can get a dollar. Well, and again, the one thing there, it's not a matter of whether or not we like the 9mm guys, it's the fact that it's 9mm NATO. Remember, NATO's coming. It's not an if. It's like rainfall. It's going to be there. It's going to be there. So that's one of the things that you pointed out is a needful thing. If somebody's sitting there listening and you've got a Glock and you can do this, I would highly recommend everybody's always asked me about that we've been talking about you know if we have barrel options if you have a macaroon and you have it in nine by eighteen macaron right now macaroon pistol are by the three eighty barrels there out there right now circles got on several others do you don't have to put it in right now guys but if you need it you've got it There's no changing the mags. The 380 auto mags work with the Mackerel and the 380, but you will need to do a barrel change. So what's the big deal having the spare barrel in the kit? You'll have to de-pin the barrel, re-pin the other barrel. Congratulations, now you've got a 380 auto. The same is true with all of the other unique guns where you have barrel change options as long as the magazine can be handled in that weapon. There were 9mm conversions for the 45, remember that was one of the proposed programs, and then a couple companies made them after Vietnam because the military proposed it and some people copied the idea. The only thing is you need a spacer. Typically they made a slide spacer that went in front of the magazine well. And then it would take the 9mm mags and there was a whole process that they had with these kits. Now I haven't seen them in a while, but if you run into them, or if you can access one and you've already got it, say you've got it put together and everything's ready to roll, so you know both of them work, I'd hang on to that and make a special pouch that goes into your combat load. Remember, we're looking at deployment for a long time. We're looking at being stuck in the field and not coming back. Remember it's always said kiss the babies because when you go out there is no telling how long you're going to be in the field or where you're going to end up. Especially if you're the first response minute man units that are hitting the ground in a combat situation guys. The other thing is I like the idea that I can switch out and I can keep using corpse enemy, you know, enemy ammo, corpse ammo. whatever I can pull off them I'll keep my people fighting and that's especially critical right now. A couple of things here too that they have that I didn't catch first time through. Don's CDN Investments has model 700 stainless barrels brand new. They're new barrel takeouts. $50 to $70 a piece. Now guys if you're looking for a project barrel That model 700 stainless new barrel these takeouts yeah for $50 in stainless. Oh if you've got them 700 just buy one for a spare buy two. Yeah if $50. You're going to shoot barrels out eventually. By the way they have it in 22, 250, 270, when these are all long barrels 22's 24, 22, 24, 24, 22, 26 inch barrels, 24 and 26s, and those bigger barrels, they've got a 300 wind mag barrel. The 300 wind mag barrels are going for $70 a piece. And that's nothing. That's a steal for that thing. But what's interesting is they also have the 270 barrels for $50 a piece, 300 Remington Ultra Mag, $50 a piece, and 7mm Remington Ultra Mag, 26 inch barrel for $50 a piece. So if you're looking for that new cartridge, you maybe already have them, there's a spare barrel for your rifle right there. And again, yes, gunsmithing is required, you've got to do head spacing when the time comes. But you know what? for $50 you got a backup but I again a kit barrel gun too if you want to do a Remington rolling block and you want to do it in 30 out they've got 22 250 270 30 out 6 300 win mag 300 WSM and 7mm Remington mag Something we need to remind everybody, and we're getting to the top here, I recognize this, and this is contrary to everything we tell you. It truly is, but you're going to find yourself in situations where you just can't stop doing what you're doing. Now, as example, you know, we've talked about the life of a, years ago we witnessed an AR-50, one of Armalite's half-inch guns, had shot 2,700, 2,700 rounds, and still won the class in its belly class, lay down class in Pennsylvania at a thousand yard shoot. Now, had that been shooting steel bullets instead of copper, you'd have probably got a thousand, maybe eleven hundred rounds before the barrel was shot out. But now that's over competition you guys. That's like cleaning the barrel after thirty rounds, cleaning it, cleaning it. There's another thing that is cautionary, the sergeant says, you know, burst son, don't overheat the barrel because when you get a barrel hot and continue to shoot it, as again, sometimes you're going to have to keep doing what you're doing. And when you get that barrel hot and keep shooting, sometimes you're not going to make that thousand or 1100 shooting steel bullets of your .50 caliber or it might not be as accurate as it was shooting .0700 rounds if you have to shoot .0700 rounds in an hour and a half because that barrel will be shot out from being overheated and the throat will be torn all to get go. You won't have an accurate gun anymore just simply from overheating the barrel and the throat. Now, you do that to your 700 Remington and man, you're going to be really disappointed. You didn't buy one of them $50 barrels when they were $50 bucks and oh, by the way, you could get one, let alone I'm trying to make one out of stinkin' mud right now. And these, you can't beat this price, this is www.cdnninvestments.com. It's on page 89 of the flyer lower right hand corner. I missed this when I went through it this morning but I was in a rush. That's something that you guys know. The barrel of my gun ain't going to last me forever. This is something you guys that know you're jumping on those deals right now, aren't you? Well, the other thing is, for instance, I was just looking here, do you know they have factory complete trigger assemblies, $50 for the complete trigger assembly, right hand or left hand, a barrel for $50, or of course $70 if you buy one of the other barrels, and they're, again, up or down in size and chambering, and you've got any configuration in stock you want. I mean literally on the other page. So if you have an action, maybe if you're lucky, maybe you're blessed and you ran into an action, a Model 700, Everything you need to finish that gun up and make that attack driver is right here. I in fact look at this way, trigger group $50, barrel $50 if you go to $70 or $70. So there's $110 tied up in the barrel and a factory complete trigger assembly. And then looking at the cheapest stock you're looking at $30 for walnut, $40 for walnut. but you can look at synthetic for the low end is about $50 so if you have the action and you're ready to roll if you watch around the yard sales actually wrote the gun shows you'll find these I've seen seven seventies and seven hundreds ugly usually they're beat up but that's what paints for and mechanically sound so you could put together a nice little you know sniper rifle for a very reasonable price what you put on the roof for optics is your choice What you decide to make it do when it comes to pulling in the image from Don's night vision to whatever else you can think of is a personal choice and I'd recommend both. That's why a quick release system for that roof or that picatinny rail is especially useful. Okay? Anyway, let's not anything else before we go. Please jump in there. I'm sorry. Well, you know the main point throughout the day is get something and learn to get out of the way. Once you've got something don't just stand there. Again, that slight shift of position can be the difference between men. He got off the first shot and I'm still looking at him when he got off the second shot and now I'm looking at the sky. I'm wondering where that hole came from. No, that's not what I'm thinking. Hey, hole, out of here by. Yep, and when you start thinking along these lines, you start looking at trees and cars and big rocks and buildings and things that you can hide behind while you return fire. And you start thinking as you're striding toward them, you're bringing the gun to bear on the opponent, aren't you? See how that works. Just from the basis of not staying in one place but bringing the gun to bear. See how that works boy a whole new world comes pops up and just you know springs into view a world called surviving the gunfight Yep, the basic rule there is remember cover can be concealment But concealment is not necessarily cover cover. Okay, he can't see me. I guess the drywall doesn't slow much down after all does it kids? So just one of the things to remember there is just because he put you out of sight some of his guesstimating that doesn't mean you still aren't looking for something thick and heavy to get behind. Under cover of the night is an exaggeration. That's something I want to touch on before we go here real quick and that is true when you are in the field you are constantly surveying your environment. And one of the things that you are constantly looking to is the next point for cover. I can't stress that enough. It's something you will learn, or you will, again, you'll become a casualty on the battlefield. The other process here is again, cover first, then return fire. Remember that if you're taking fire and it seems to be at a particular location and it's heavy, chances are you're in an ambush. So if you're going to take cover, it's only long enough to again assemble or determine the direction and then apply force accordingly. If it's simply contact and it's hasty contact, no matter how you look at it, get something between you and the bullets coming in inbound. The other rule here is if you are standing and you can kneel, kneel. If you are kneeling and you are able to sit, sit. If you have the ability with security to lay down instead of sitting, lay down. The idea behind this is conserving energy. Always remember this, guys. You are pooling energy. You presenting minimum target to your opponent exactly. That's the whole object again These are all lessons that are part of him goes we get a lot of things remember your life depends upon it You will remember I hope you paying attention. That's right. Also. They do have HSK speed loaders at CDN n Those are my favorite, but I've got a lot of sears for the 357 for the L frames and in fact I've got probably close to 200 of those I got I fell into years ago somebody just tossed them out. It's like oh those are mine and That was one of those freebies you just don't pass up and all loaded So the Sierra speed loaders are all ready to palm palm thrust and drop as needed Pop pop boom boom so again make sure you've got speed loaders free revolvers if they'll take them go ahead down Mark super quick.
