Well, this is America, a very different world, and the important thing is knowing the internationalists, even if they're slobs that were raised here but aren't from here anyway, they say the internationalists, they'll be fine somewhere else when the time comes. How many designated safer units? Somebody's got a construction company out there. I'd be keeping about 100 gallons of OD green paint house paint now if you could do 50 But I think you'll need more like about a hundred gallons of OD greenhouse paint earth brown maybe a little bit of sage medium green And a few gallons of black and all of your tactical, oh I'm sorry, all of your construction vehicles can then become combat engineer tactical vehicles. But Mark, we need to spin it. No, house paint works just fine. You know what? If it chips, put some more on it. What's the big deal? Are we trying to make it look really, really pretty? Or are we trying to camouflage it? Remember, disrupted, faded, and overlapped with other colors is a good thing. Just something to think about there. Either that or your Star Wars lived in with rust, fake rust and also burn marks. That's another cool one. You know, make it look like wreckage in advance. That's a mean trick isn't it? Yeah, but actually one that works really well So there's a number of different options there purely matter the creative mind something to think about Another thing here too is again with organizing and you notice I know I didn't say massive companies battalions brigades Focus on the small unit formation focus on the fire team the squad the platoon the company build up But build realistically again transportation units we need pods of transportation units transportation units and supplies outbound being that brings back recoverables and casualties during World War two my dad was kamikaze to Pelalu right there just in fact radar picket off the Island of Pelalu during major part of the battle When he came back, they didn't use any special hospital ships. They were hospital ships out there, but those were rolling surgeries. Those were floating hospitals. Every wreck that had been damaged, transport ship coming out, torpedo going back at five miles an hour. Aircraft carrier, one out at 33 knots, coming back five miles an hour. Destroyer escort, the sharks of the Navy. Well, going outbound, making flank speed. Coming back 10 miles an hour with one screw and most of the ship shot away. The ghost fleets that came back became the slow speed ambulances. Anything that was pointed back towards the United States was loaded up with people or recoverables and was reprocessed. Just how it works. So again, keep in mind you need to be thinking that way. Ignore the movies in the BS. Throw away 99% of what you've seen. Pretty much garbage and it's not even useful. However, there are some things that can be applied here and there. Little ideas that, well, that's a cute thing. But how about if we apply it correctly? Neat idea, but we need to re-engineer it. If we do that, then we've got ourselves a pretty good program in place. Okay? So building up logistic support, tactical support, is very critical. Radio signal communications, today is Communications Tuesday. A lot of you people have worked with radio. A lot of you haven't, but need to learn. I've told you time and again, go to these hamfests. There's all kinds of associations and groups. Don't worry about explaining what you're doing. The idea is gain from the skill developed by others. Just tell them you're interested in the radio. Don't tell them why you're interested in the radio. Just tell them you're interested in radio. Get excited about it. Learn. Immerse yourself in the technology. Somebody else has already developed everything. You just have to pick from the bouquet to figure out what best suits your table. You see how that works? The cornucopia for your kitchen. However you want to look at it. The fact of the matter here too again is and would point out Fair Radio. I know Fair Radio has actually got some other stuff they just picked up. I didn't post them in the chat room. Forgive me guys. FairRadio.com. F-A-I-R-R-A-D-I-O. FairRadio.com. They're located in Lima, Ohio. Take your pick, Lima, Lima. Lima, Ohio. And these guys have some really interesting, newer equipment they've been picking up. especially in the smaller radio sets. So I highly recommend you take a look at that. Also the odd man out Vietnam era stuff. Most of that guys did not get thrown out during the you know, post-war era. In fact just reverse the highest tech stuff was actually put back into quiet front-line service in different areas and only recently has finally been relegated. Built like a brick doghouse, a lot of these little units were quite useful because they were upgradable. They were ruggedized to the nth degree from, you know, eight years, six years, ten years worth of, you know, experience in Vietnam. And that helped a lot. Overlapping from the experience from the fifties with the Korean War. Out of the Korean War, a series of build programs took place and R&D programs took place to try and perfect and reorganize signal communications. There was a rethink in the 1955-56 era, the 56 window. And a lot of that equipment became much more user-friendly, man-portable. And that's indicative of the systems for that period. That window is a major change in philosophy in terms of taking advantage of compressing size, you know, reducing material and equipment. The big thing about military radios is the radio itself is not that heavy. Even the PRC 77-25s, yeah, they're a few pounds by themselves. When you consider what that radio is capable of, and again, the fact that it's ruggedized, That's not the problem. It's the batteries, which really aren't a problem either, but you got to remember when that battery box is empty, there's a big change in the weight factor. Now what's cool about the PRC-77s and 25s, they both take the same radio battery and there are upgrades that took place in the late 80s and 90s. Because of this, the size, the volume of the radio battery was halved. Now the basic weight of the battery stayed the same. However, the big advantage, something for you radio geeks to think about if you're using PRC25s or 77s, and there's a lot of them out there, and a lot of you are going to be using them, remember you can store a second battery inside the battery box. However, little hint here, do what the military does. Now today we have plastic cardboard. I love plastic cardboard. It's lightweight. We make signs for everything from garage sale signs to house for sale signs everything else. That's plastic cardboard, corrugated plastic. Well, pick a tactical color if you can and make a standoff, a base for inside the battery box for that second, although even your primary battery should do the same thing. Typically there's a bumper in there. But make a standoff that will allow you to put a panel between the two batteries. This is the area that most people forget about and what happens is well no you don't beat the snot out of it but every time that you step everything that isn't isn't secured so that it doesn't bounce or tick itself tick something else near it. Guys you do it once not a big deal. You do it a hundred times obnoxious. You do it a thousand times and every time you step, how many steps are in a mile? How many miles will you move in a day? Well that little ticking and tapping is going to thunk, thunk, thunk that battery fixture and remember that those batteries are a rigid but either a compressed or In fact, you know, the combinations of graphite, dust, it depends on what it is. It can be in a number of different materials. Iron filings, etc., etc. Well guys, when they compress this, Remember, that is somewhat brittle. It is encapsulated to secure it, but if you keep striking it, you can create fissures and fractures in that frangible material. Yeah, fissures and fractures in that frangible material. Say that three times fast. Point is that you can do damage to the battery. So standoffs and rubber baby buggy bumpers are a good idea. The idea is that this is fairly cheap. The corrugated plastic cardboard is, you know, the plastic board is lightweight, will take moisture, and if you have any oxidation problems, it's not going to commute the oxidation. It creates a barrier, and I really like that part. If you're a radio operator, guys, water moisture is constantly what you're fighting. That is one of the first things you're going to be out in the field something everything's been weatherized But the more you move it how about this the more you push that button the more you wear out the rubber? cover that's on it and With every push of the button you know Roger we copy kw e 3 5 9 or echo echo fox truck we copy over Well, every time that you do that, and you let go of the mic, and then you push the key down again, that adds up, guys, wear and tear. And remember, the contractor built it well, but no matter how hard or ruggedized he makes it, it's still got to be usable. So it's malleable. It's flexible. At a given point, it's reached its flex, maximum flex potential, and it's done. Just that simple. So we need to also look at re-weatherizing. How can we do that in the field? Couple things here. Number one, you've seen in the movies garbage bags. Well, or baggies, plastic bags, sandwich bags, any number of different things. Used to be just plastic or metal bread ties were used. Yes, bread ties. The wire bread ties became very common. Then later on zip ties became common. Heavier plastic was used. There are a number of different solutions. They even made specific vinyl covers for things. You will see them for sale, just like for the gas masks. They have wet weather vinyl covers. Well, those are interesting but don't work ever work as well as they should but balloons are awfully handy. Now immediately someone's gonna think and forgive me plug your condoms. I saw somebody using a condom on the end of an m16 or AR-15 rifle here probably because somebody said well that's what you use. Well, balloons are cheaper you can buy a big bag when you even get them in tactical colors now guys so they don't have to be in those tones that kind of stand out. Just something to think about there. Go to the dollar store, look for army balloons or even in camouflage when you blow them up they got some kind of striated camouflage. Well if you take that and put it over the end of the muzzle that'll do just fine keep the dirt out won't slow the bullet down and tactical color congratulations. Hell it may be better color than the muzzle itself already is who knows. Anyway point is that those same kind of balloons in different sizes are available for entertainment. Greens, Browns, Blacks those can be used to cover radio. components just like you do with those weapons parts. Oh yeah! Now the advantage is you don't offer any resistance. Easily they can be tied off or sealed at the end. There's a number of different ways a solution can be dealt with but the fact of the matter is that those China Sport balloons are awfully handy. Now another thing as I pointed out you need big big wide rubber bands for certain things Let's say that you want to lock that headset onto your web gear. Well you go to your bicycle store What? What do you think of the bicycle? Well, you're gonna ask the guy that does the bicycle repair at the bicycle store if he's got any inner tubes that he's changed today for bikes big ones, small ones, you don't care what size inner tube it is. He goes, yeah, I got a bunch of them over here, you know, well, can you see or maybe he'll say I don't have any today. What are you thinking? Do some tomorrow? Well, sure, I do some every day. Have him save a couple for you. Take him home. Say thank you. In fact, just so he understands, no, I'm not trying to. Everybody's always concerned about you getting their junk. I mean, not everybody, but a lot of people are goofy about this. So just show them, hey, take your knife and cut the inner tube right in half. Cut it, cut it. you know one spot now it's a big long tube straight tube like a hose there you go now take it home by the way now you get it home take that little Schrader valve out that's left in the in the inner tube put it in your repair kit for your bike you probably didn't think to take that ha ha ha because you've got tons of them anyway he wants to sell them anyway now take a look at that inner tube how wide a rubber band do you want to make why you break out those big scissors make whatever size rubber band you want That's a cheating way to do it. Yeah, well the neat thing is you can make however wide or however narrow you wish to, but also remember it starts out pretty big bore and it's not an aggressive rubber band. It's actually pretty passive. It stretches out, stays at the size it's supposed to, and it doesn't pinch. This is another thing. By making it wider, it also will allow for you to better control certain items. If you're going to mount the handset on your left side of your web gear, and make it so it's accessible, you want to band above and below the key. Remember there's a key on the side of the handset? You want it above and below. Now I know they make hangers for handsets. Do you want to know how many of those I've seen broken in my experience in the military? About 90%. The hangers that typically they mounted in most of the handsets was cast with the handset itself. Wow, great idea. Cheap and quick solution initially. But almost always that handsets get dropped in the truck or dropped on the APC or stepped on or bumped into or my rifle hits it. Somebody else's junk hits it and I hear crack and a plastic hanger in the back of my handset is gone. Well, guess what? Those bicycle rubber bands that you put on your web gear over on the left side on your Ate suspender or your Y-Suspender? Now you've got a secure station. It's a tactical color. It doesn't really jump out and make anybody go, wow, look at that. It allows you to take and secure that handset to the left so that your kind of hands freeze. So I've got to reach over and touch it, but it's pretty straightforward to lean the head sideways and talk into the handset, but you're not going to lose it. It's not going to fall away from you. If you need to dismount it, it only takes a moment and you've got it disconnected and you can either pull it to your hand and your head, you know, with your hand to your head, or you can hand it off to somebody else. Not a big deal. But these are simple solutions. Those rubber bands also make handy cargo stays and all kinds of other stuff. So once you make a bunch of them, take a number 10 coffee can and fill it up with them. Make a whole bunch of them. I do. I've got two cans filled up ready to go. What do they cost me? Cans were free. Got them from the recycle bin. The rubber bands, well, they came from the inner tubes that my youngest boy changes out on his bikes. Snip, snip, snip, cut, cut, cut, fast, fast, fast, done, goodbye, and on to the next project. Again, is it an exciting part of the job? No, it's very dull. This is junk. It's like, oh man, that's, that's peon work. Yep, and you're all going to be doing the same kind of work when the time comes. It's not peon work. This is all part of what the military call housekeeping. Now the lazy new generation, don't have the brains God gave me so I can figure a lot of them are not going to have me thinking a lot of this stuff through because if it isn't brand new in the package and it doesn't look like the latest designer camel, well, it just doesn't look cool and they don't have razor glasses. You know, we didn't have razor glasses either for pretty much any of the fighting we've done before this latest cycle and we seem to killed a lot of people without razor glasses or worrying about the latest fashion show either. Just something to think about there. Yeah, pretty doesn't count for a whole lot, but hitting the target does. And having the tech, you know, again, if I can save money in one area, I can spend more money on ammunition than I need in the other. And if I need fancy ammunition, well, if I've spent all that money on other things, I can't buy as much of the fancy ammo. But if I've saved up in the other areas, I can buy whatever I want. It'll go through the tube and put a big nasty hole in the bad guy at the other end. And I still have money left over for more of the same. Which means I can also practice with that round to get really good with it. Oh yeah! Wouldn't be a bad idea. So again, all these little cost savers. Watch for friends. Ask if you got somebody who has a factory. There aren't many nearby anymore. But if you got somebody who's got a factory, ask them. See what kind of plastic bags. They're usually unwrapping something made in communist China. There will be a whole bunch of long bags, narrow bags, and they just undo them and drop the stuff out. They got piles of these bags that end up in the trash. Well, if they're all coming off the same production line, they do 48,000 pieces in one night, there's what? 48,000 free bags? What was in them? Oh, a piece of plastic that was cast in communist China? What do they normally do with it? Throw it in the trash? Well, if you put a box there and you just keep stuffing those bags in there for future use. Hey, if it's a long narrow bag and it's well made and make a good headset handset cover if you want to do the old style routine where you put the bag over the whole thing tie off the other end and you got yourself a waterproof cover Gets tired looks ugly cut it off throw it away pull another one out of the box. Oh By the way want to save space How about you flatten them out a little bit get yourself another number 10 can? fold them up if need be pack that can as thick as you can, as tight as you can, seal it up, mark it on the outside what's in it, put it on the shelf and forget about it until you need it. Hey, there's an idea. Again, put it all throw away stuff. That's the whole point. It's all throwaway stuff. You can do it for little or nothing and you just got to keep focusing at it. Mass in our direction. A lot of you have friends that have industrial support, but we don't waste material that would be kind of handy to have for the work that we're doing. Just something to think about. We're at the bottom of the art table. We're at the bottom of the art break coming up here. A little past, but not by much. Go back three-year-old popular mechanics in the $94 window, $95 window. Popular mechanics had ads, private little ads in the back. That wasn't us. We don't know who the hell that was. Well, the same is true years earlier, and one of the things that we pointed out is the idea that by teaching people, giving people direction, giving them all the facts, but not worrying about taking any credit for it, but saturating an area. Forced people, in fact, you don't try to get into debate with them. You don't care about debate with them. If you have to waste a lot of air with somebody who keeps going, what if or what if or they're gonna or whatever, you're wasting your time. That person will find every negative excuse to be negative and to continue to, you know, to angst whatever's going on. You don't have time for that. Because for every person you're wasting with that nonsense, there is another person who's too thinking, man, I hope there's somebody else around here like me. I can see the problem. Can anybody else? And there's 20, 30, 50. Maybe there's 100 out of 1,000, but it's usually a lot better than that. In fact, it's much better than that. However, the attitude isn't that you get into argument, you find the people that are at least close to of like mind as possible. But the way to do that is to raise the water level. If you were to do nothing but right now do a mailing literally where you take a 5, 6, 7 pages, 7 pages copied on both sides with whatever you could think of. Don't forget a little artwork that, you know, again you guys have gotten one little poster thing I sent to you. It was done by Fred Rexer 35 years ago. Be prepared, it's later than you think. The picture of the family where the dad's in the mop outfit with the M17 mask. and all the family members are kitted out. It's a black and white guys. Have you made those into t-shirts? A bunch of you have received those. Have you made posters or copies of that and given them out or just left them out where people can find them and have fun with them and you find somebody else post it somewhere? Have you taken the time to post it, for instance, in the chat room? Have you scanned it and put it in the chat room? Have you scanned it and put it in the internet? I've sent a bunch of stuff out there and all of it, again, bring up the water level. Don't assume somebody else is going to get that out there. All of Fred Rexer's artwork was phenomenal. Probably the best example is a lot of guys have micro-FM's along the expressway. Well not everybody, half the people on the expressway in the morning are half asleep. But if you put a sign up that has 95.5 on it and you know tune into 95.5 just randomly put one up, make it disappear yourself, don't leave it there. Put it in another location, don't leave it any one place with no more, any more than maybe half an hour. move it to another site move it to another site move it to another site or If you make it throw away move it until some clown picks up and dispose of it You know how many those little metal wire u-shaped sign holders. I've got with again those Corrugated plastics, you know property for sale signs, you know from real estate the back sides white We put a message on there, poke it in the ground, leave it in an intersection until someone throws it away. What did it cost us? I always do that on the way to somewhere else so I don't spend any special time. It takes longer to write it than it does to really deploy it. But it's done in such a way that a bunch of people see it. We affect 1 or 2, 3, 5, 10, 20, 100 people. Who knows? That's one of the many things that we still need to be doing. Notice I didn't say put a pile of handouts somewhere because as quick as you can put a pile of handouts on a ledge, someone else can walk up and take your effort and throw it right in the trash. You put some handouts out if you want to do that, a few. but you don't put a big pile of anything out because it's again a loss of resource that's a hundred handouts it could go into you take eight pages or something you got some artwork you got some visitor from the past and a printout all of it stuff that you can whatever will fit into and make up a single stamp where you can take and map out of town a dot on the map I did this yesterday as I find enough 3 cent, 10 cent or reusable stamps from stuff that I see laying around or when I find stuff people have thrown out, office supplies and there's a bunch of loose stamps. Some of you have gotten letters recently that might now be listening that weren't connected before because you lost touch because of We The People Radio Network. I send three to five letters out sometimes a day, as many as ten, that are random contacts. I have a map, an area I'm picking that's one part of the country. Every person in that town has only four or five hundred houses. Every house in that town has gotten a packet progressively. Six or seven letters at a time go there. Ideally, if I can do ten or twenty, what I'll do is drop them in and that way everybody's got something, but not all those packets are the same. What does that do? Well, I got this thing in the mail. It involved a Patriot effort about the militia. I got one too. Well, really? Well, yeah, I got blah blah blah. Well, that's not what I got. I got this. And what happens is people are forced to compare notes. They start to think a little bit. Wait a minute. There's different stuff. Plus, the information that gives out shows them how to get to places like this. It's that people, we have not contacted. There's millions, tens and tens and tens and tens of millions of people in this country. Hundreds of millions. We know that. Do you think we've gotten every one of them? I know we've gotten to a big chunk of them. But right now and again with everybody quaking and shaking about the idea that they're gonna shut off the internet we better be ready with our alternatives and be knowing how to use and Flex our muscles in that area too guys. We got enough time for a few go ahead Yes. a wind up or a wind up foot power generator to charge the batteries or solar or mechanical. But there's a lot of ways to charge the batteries in those things. And the new ones come with USB charging sockets and all that good stuff so you're not looking for subhuman type connections. Right, actually there's a bunch of new little crank Chinese chargers out there that are pretty decent that will take all the new connectors. and that would be one of the ways to adapt it. The big thing is with any of the marine radios you have a plus right off the bat because they were designed to be used in wet weather. I mean they're on the water so there's still the better choice for tactical radios in a lot of situations. The more remote you are the better still. I'll give you an example if you're out in Oklahoma or Kansas, Western Kansas, any place where you're out in the plains, prairies, mountains, and there's fewer and fewer people, well there's a whole lot of boats out there. So marine frequencies are pretty well wide open, but I'm going to tell you a little secret. I'm in the middle of the Great Lakes, and all of these marine channels are wide open. There isn't anybody going out and using them. This summer, nobody was out there on the boats. And other than for, well there's cabin cruisers, but they're parked and they still use the radios. But there's all kinds of space, you're not going to step on anybody. And it's again another niche where you can go all the way up one end of the spectrum or down to the other and sit in a corner. And use it until you want to switch to another. And that's the way to do it, that's the trick. Also, if you got somebody who knows what they're doing, although I hate cracking marine radios because even like the CB size conventionals, you know, the regulars, because they are water sealed unless there's a problem, don't make one. Because getting them back together and making that seal sit for all the places that it has to roll and fit into, you have to be very patient and very careful when reassembling. And if you're not used to that idea, thinking you're going to throw it together is usually where you compromise and squeeze and bind the seal. If you're going to play with that, practice on a piece of junk first. Oh yeah, there's recs. Yeah, grab some recs. Well, a rec that works, you know, it's functional. Take it apart, put it back together, take it apart, put it back together, take it apart, put it back together. That way we'll be used to seeing how they work and what they do because it's always something you have to be very delicate very pressure sensitive and you can get it back together and if you have spare parts left over you did do something wrong. Where did this come from? You can buy a really cool marine handheld for 150 bucks. Oh yes. You can buy a decent crank generator for 89 dollars. Exactly. You're looking at radios comparable to anything that most of the militaries are using around the planet. Here's another thing I haven't really said. Look at these different armies that are being videotaped and photographed and still photographed. Look at the equipment they're using. Pay attention to the radios they're carrying. A lot of what we're talking about, guys, they're already using overseas for the very same reason we're talking about. Most of these places are looking for bargains. and they're looking for stuff that's still going to perform within the mission parameters. And there's always a radio specialist, there's always, again, food specialists, dieticians. All these people and all these other armies have to face the same problems we're talking about. Even our own military is not consistent across the board with what they're using because there's regions where different pieces of equipment have been fielded. Nobody wants to throw anything out or they have older equipment, though, if they're smart they'll route it and apply it accordingly. Anything else, caller, before we go, jump in there? No, I'm good.
