Well, that's a precautionary that you can afford. Think about it, it's okay. So for three or four days during the training exercise window, and again, pay attention because they're already announcing that these events are in motion. In fact, some of the FTXs are in motion right now because you, especially in region three, hold your best systems offline and safety systems in place This is your chance to spend the money and put GFI's in more locations than you already have. The ground fault system at the wall is again a plus plus and then still hook up to a GFI. Now what happens is you have a cascading series of snaps and pops that take place, but this ensures that there's a lot less energy going through the line to get to equipment now we would warn you about something lot of you have bought uh... the gf i'd bars from hardware stores or from many different chain uh... well it's not grown for market it's it's got a few system yes of the sad part is uh... we have found first hand that for instance true value hardware the model that they sell keeps the switch open doesn't shut or close but by the very nature of the design to bridge and keep the circuit open. I would highly recommend electronic equipment right now. The few dollars it's given us for the GFI, Ground Fault Technology, to have on the wall, which is on the little punch pin, and you can get different levels of protection there. The price is for computer systems that are high priority. That simple, sweet, minimal cost, even though it costs dollars, I know it doesn't cost pennies, But for a few dollars, you're actually adding another safety switch into the system. Now another trick with a lot of people aren't going to like is to for a particular shop when you have a surge before it even gets out. Oh yes, can you do that? Oh absolutely you can. Now this is again, this is a cascading, this is a cascading safety system. And if you have thousands of dollars tied up into electronics, you are probably going to want to talk to any of your people that are in your group. or into a, you know, again, a lot of time. They can access volume technology, in other words, cut multiple copies of something. You can typically get a better price if everybody kind of groups it, and electrical supply, and all of this could be done at once. Again, the first thing is, from the farthest point out, the user operation slides to keyboard punch end. The consideration should be to go to your primaries on standby. Does it mean that you're going to go minimalist in a lot of stuff? Yes. you're going to minimize slash, you know, use minimal resource and shut as much down. This would even include, and again, I highly recommend this, using a switching system to bridge as many pieces of equipment as possible. For instance, you may have a backup fax machine. Now, certainly if you want to just go to the fax machine, leave the computers offline, that's an option. But if you're not going to be using the fax machine, why is it hooked up? into constant power mode without a lot more safety equipment attached. Now one of the ways you can do this is by isolating it with a switcher system. Your printer systems may not cost that much, but a $100 hit is a $100 hit or a $200 or $300 hit is a $200 hit. Insulating competitor and including another... Now you may have a hard time finding these. I watch them whenever I can get them. The older style safety power bars had individual switching for each of the devices attached to your computer. Now what was the advantage of that? Well, it's real simple. Why should I power up the fax machine? Why should I power up? Which if I like I have a freestanding fax here that can be used as a separate phone. Why would I power that up when I can keep it offline and disconnected from the computer grid? In the process I can take my printer, do the same thing. I scan do the same thing. I know most of your printers and scanners are one in the same number, but some of you, you do legal work. A specific large plate that can handle tech and it's designed purely in-mount, it's not designed to do anything else. Well, since you spent the money on that and it's a machine that's valuable, why would you have that hooked up and powered up constantly? If you acquire one of these individual plug switching systems, and I highly recommend you do this anyway, uh... legal work that you're doing your such that i think we are important tools and keeping them off the grid a risk environment situation is brian or with the he won on the subject of a walk mark what there's a little stuff that they'll go and cart that it is a regional by as originally described it with the regional by and they want to see how much damage you can do how about we for all the demographics all about what we've got a month you're a chance to system up with her stick in their spokes And how about we use some common sense in advance. So nothing, it's not state of the art. It's not the latest and greatest. It's not the newest and smallest. It's not the China sport and probably not, and where the newest is not designed to do what it's supposed to slash a power conduit rather than breaker. Well, that's the last thing we need. It survived. He may have already done his job. You got to, you know, again, take a look at the equipment, pay attention, plug it in, see what it does. Simple, all it is is a simple power isolates each of your appliances. You may also, of course, want to switch over. Consider this. How much your flat screen costs? Here's an idea. Did you, were you smart enough to save your old monitors? Might want to plug in the old monitors for the time being and save the flat screen. They do a power surge and then do a blackout. Well, how much does that flat screen cost you? Did you already, was your old already paid for? Sure it was. There's nothing. Well a lot of people would say that, but I got one sitting right here next to my primary, which is a flat screen. I paid a dollar for the flat screen. Woo hoo! Because I watch for people getting rid of stuff and we've got compute disposal points around the area and you watch for the stuff people don't like. But next to it I have a Preseria 150 where I'm touching it. It's right next to the other system that's sitting here. It's not plugged in and online all the way, but The idea is it's on standby. It's not powered up. Primary system, I'm not necessarily using it with time. In fact, what we see going on, it's a good idea to keep a lot of your equipment shut down the majority of the time. Remember, your emails are going to come in no matter what. You don't need the computer for that. You're hooking up to a service, right guys? You may want to ping and of course, hit a policy whenever you're not using it as we through the next week coming to demonstrate. Well, you know what, speakers are a minor thing, but I always watch when people toss me out speakers. Probably the best example, the other day here, I just got a complete rat nest of connectors, wires, connectors, cables. What it comes down to is somebody disconnected a computer, took all of the mouse, you name it, every cord that you would need, and it was a big rat nest, plus a whole bunch of stereo cables. It had a really nice sound system hooked up. Price free. could be a problem or maybe a problem if there is a power surge. How many of these do we have? I have lots of them. I have lots times lots of them. Already have them in many cases bagged and categorized. Clear Ziploc dollar store bags for the small stuff. If I can look at it, see what it is, and if it's the model that I need to match up with something that's bad or something that's missing, all I have to do is drop the shelf. I don't have to run to the store. But in addition to that, a lot of other smaller cables and such in fact are fusible or may become fusible. They may toast in the roast. When the time comes, so having backup cabling is a high. This is especially true if you're clear to the epicenter. Remember, it's just like EMP or nuclear attack. For that matter, any other kind of device dropped in the middle of the pocket. And on top of that, remember power isolation of the type that we were talking about earlier with a computer for individual devices can also be in place with all of your radio. So that yes, you do have a power supply, you have a power switch, you can isolate it with a system that's off to the right under your control with one hand and you can hit shut off and then make it a policy, part of your S-1. Opie an operating procedure when you're operating equipment go so far as to make it part of your checklist And if you have an RO the checklist is an FAA operator Terry This is just like working in a nuclear bunker charge of a Minuteman system. There is a checklist in a certain way Write it up and that way everybody understands what is to be done What piece of equipment should be initiated first be warmed up step how long will each part of the system take and what you expect from it? and also in the event of shutdown or emergency shutdown for instance and I would make that a red tag in the binder emergency shutdown everybody should read it but everybody should also know how to idle the system for standby we say idle that doesn't mean necessarily everything would be shut down but you're minimizing the amount of footprint or signature that you create with your technology your radio equipment number one but you're also reducing the amount of equipment that is hooked up to Now, here's another neat thing about radios. Even your computers can be done to a certain degree. By the way, I did mention laptops, didn't I? Oh, that's right, it is. Well, if you're using laptops, you have your own battery power supply, don't they? Make a point of maintaining it, even on your clunker. Find the clunker, pull the battery, find a company that's getting rid of those old clunker batteries that are an old variation, if you can. Have a new one in there. Why? Well, you can still be on the internet, but not beyond the power grid. That's right. Point out that a lot of the radios that you're using typically have wall wards. If they're smaller units, a lot of these, one radio does everything unit, has a wall wart because it works off DC, not off AC. It has to convert what's coming out of the wall. Well, if you have all your power supplies up, example, it's a nice shiny day outside. Well, you don't even have to be hooked up the threat window to any part of the power grid. Now what do the bad guys do? You're not hooked up to the attack system, in other words, the, oh, we were only planning a training exercise and the last thing we expected, that while there was this power surge and everything happened just like the training exercise, no, no, it didn't happen to us, we were all unplugged. We were all independently running. What's your point? But, There probably still were enough men out there that one way or another that fool would not have lived to get across any part of that naval yard or any part of that complex or into that building. And if he did, men wouldn't be running from going, men would have been finding weapons, men would have been looking to get rid of the problem and he would have not walked 15 paces without dying.
