The Model 870, if you run into them, excellent firearm malfunction issues with the 870. It is a straightforward pump shotgun, which again, I don't know how hard it is to really figure out a mechanical system. But study it long enough you'll figure it out. But any number of different video sources, YouTube, it'll help you to understand the gun. Most important is if you run into one or if you inherit one, don't sell one of the best survival slash preparedness guns you can pick up. The 500, good shotgun. Model 37 Ithaca, rare. than it used to be a good and excellent shotgun. The parallel two guns that I would look at as far as this would be, the Remington 870 and the Ithaca Model 37 would be right beside it but the Model 37 has become pricey because they've been out of production for quite some time in good numbers. The Ithaca is the poor man's submachine gun. It is a fanner gun. All you do is hold back the trigger, work the action and it slam fires. Again, Mostly machined, critical components are all of best quality. It's in 20 gauge, 16 gauge, 12 gauge. And you might even find one of the old ones in 410 because they're out there. But one way or another, if you do have them already in stock, don't let anybody talk you into getting rid of them. Keep the Model 870 and find more parts. Firing pin, extractor, ejector, and don't forget, the nice spare barrel would be handy. They're out there. Doesn't have to be anything fancy. Just try to pick up a spare barrel. if anything happens you're not going to have to worry about turnaround time to put it back in service uh... the reason i bring it up is not because the barrel's gonna fail on you guys except people make mistakes 12 gauge guns get stuck in the mud things like that you pull the trigger not knowing you got a construction and your barrels can open up somewhere well you're gonna have to fix that barrel which you can but in the meantime wouldn't it be nice to have a change out yeah that'd be a good idea just a little reminder there the most common way that shotguns get hurt. People chasing bunnies, jumping over fences, running through fields. And something happens where something gets in the end of the tube and it creates... The weapon has to be, you know, it won't harm typically the receiver, but what it will do is it creates a point somewhere where the gases are released. And this has happened for as long as, you know, big bore weapons like that have been in the field. Doesn't mean it happens all the time.
