Summary
Mark Koernke discussed firearms availability and market trends, focusing on discontinued European gun manufacturers like Rossi, Llama, and Star, and analyzed why certain models disappeared from the U.S. market. He reviewed budget rifle options including Bulgarian AK-47s and single-stack magazine configurations, then pivoted to detailed technical discussions about .32 ACP, .44 Magnum ammunition, revolver maintenance, and black powder firearms. A caller contributed information about black powder cannons and Civil War reenactment artillery, leading to extended commentary on black powder gun construction, cartridge conversions, and the continued lethality of historical weapons systems.

The intelligence report marked and on every morning at 6 a.m. Pacific time Monday through Friday. As the National Rifle Association says, it's not guns that kill people, it's maneuvers. Shut down our man. You should have heard this song. The intelligence report marked and on every morning at 6 a.m. Pacific time Monday through Friday. I want the people to know that they still have two out of three branches of the government working for them And that ain't bad. I have not yet begun this firefight. His clothes were torn and dirty as he stood there by my bed. He took off his three cornered hat, speaking low to me. That's our liberty. For future generations, this legacy we gave. In this, the life secured for you, we'll always keep. Parents labored endlessly while your parents were. Your freedom's gone, your courage lost. You're no more than a slave. In this, the land is a free. You buy permits to trap, permits to own a gun. To start a business or to build a place for one On land that you believe you own, you pay a yearly rent Although you have no voice in saying how the money's spent Your children must attend a school that doesn't educate And your Christian values You read about the current news in a regulated press And you pay a tax you do not owe to please the IRS Your money is no longer made of silver nor of gold You trade your wealth for paper so your life can be controlled You pay for crimes that make our nation turn from God and shame. Traded in your name. You've given government control to those who do you harm so they could burn down churches and seize the farm and keep our country deep in debt. Put men of God in jail. Harash your fellow countrymen while corrupted courts prevail. Your public servants don't uphold the solemn oaths they've sworn. And your daughters send artillery and guns to foreign shores. and send your sons to slaughter fighting other people's wars. In the freedoms for which we fought and died, don't you have the courage, pride? And are there no more values for which you'll fight to save? Those sons of the Republic. Bend the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the land, preserve our great Republic and each God-given right. To torture free as Iowoki vanished in the mist for whence he came. His words were true, we are free, but we have ourselves to blame. Or even now as tyrants trampled each god-given right, we only watch him tremble, too afraid to stand and fight. He stood by your bedside to dream while you were asleep, and wondered what remains of the freedoms he'd fought to keep. What would be your answer, lout from the grave? technologies both east and west of the Mississippi along with southern and central. We're on the hallmark network on the eastern seaboard from the top of Maine to the bottom of Florida. From the bottom of Florida across the arc of the Gulf of Mexico headed towards Louisiana, Texas, Oklahoma. We're talking driving trucks to some houses, two-story farmhouses that don't go real fast trapped in the cab. It's like driving from your bath. listening to the micro effect this morning so we want to say good morning to all you guys out there yeah that's right we know about you on international radio don't we and then 0.7 97.7 99.5 99.7 and a whole bunch of others too numerous to mention Mississippi bike project all along with Smokey slash our crew grandma teams okay teams and to the Ma Bell grandma's from Cleveland invading west I think we have down there here on this end of Michigan you're neck of the woods. Same here, we got winds and they're probably sending some of those clouds our way. So far, blue sky, horizon to horizon. So guys, you got a chance to cut that wood, meant cast, make sure you plug everything else in, maybe get some paint, drop down a few degrees, still chop lots of wood after it. But it's kind of nice to do it when you don't have to worry about me and soaking. The 26th day, next October, October 10th. You've never heard this before, don't be alarmed. And there are pots. Funny here, I was just, here's something, listen to this ad, buy magazines, buy magazines, buy magazines. Bulgarian. AK-47 762x39 rifle. Oh, here are the features, Dom. Perceiver. Now that line barrel. That's a plus plus plus, right? Skeleton stock. I actually like the stock on this rifle. It's got the... It's got the... We want to take off their A-k. Here's the last back... Oh, did Mark say bad feature? Mags in... Well, back up here. Wait a minute. It says single stack. So I understand what that is of those AK mags. They actually were cool. As I said, they're starting to go on, you know, go down in Bryce. It'd be a cool option. Crets, where'd they go? crates of crates and pallet bins creak of these magazines pig on the market there are what they're what the hell is this doing that rifle and mags by the way we're down to about two or three dollars apiece that's why I told everybody if you had one of those single stack rifles and you get a rear five or even eight you know six dollars apiece that's not a bad price because just treat that a cab we modify it treat it like you would an SKS except in this case you know these rifles had the rails and the so you do is you leave the 10 round stack mag the way it is don't modify anything don't change anything it short magazine so like the dragon offer was close to the weapon but here's the problem mag problem with them back mags were a dog i mean guys they were everywhere they were coms part of it whether cheap they were fairly cheap but you know they're on make whether or not they were cheap because they were not all mag out now double some of the memory and find out hey uh... women the right direction even in the gun industry somebody doesn't tell you you know these are like little best-kept so that you know this will connect the dots and you at least have the stuff your time comes. There's another consideration, excuse me, even with the Dragunov rifles, Don, which you know those mags, I've told everybody already buy more mags for the... Well, at least when they sell you a Dragunov rifle you do get at least one mag. Well just pay attention guys, the world is not running quite the way anybody thinks. There's some other decent little buys, that was an interest. You can find some pretty decent buys out there if you search around a little bit. $349.99, $350 for a rifle with no magazine. I can buy a regular AK for, now granted I understand the single stack, you know, for any people listening to larger magazine capacity, but don't worry, you don't have to worry about that. You have no mag, so you have no magazine capacity. Now this is another reason that you want to take advantage, if you have certain rifles, advantage of, you know, price. We'll say this, maybe you're thinking, man, I got maybe a hundred of those mags. If you want to add another rifle, $350 for a Bulgarian receiver that's not an aftermarket receiver a military Bulgarian receiver Bulgarian barrel the interesting thing that would make a great you could actually have mags in stock like right light sniper rifle tight flash had around muzzle reduction slide on a depending on the price we could find laying around or I'll pick up a picatinny ring slides right into the wand and you're done it's the aftermarket that's good item on this but I can smell we're gonna need to do a little research strength because base of the weapon and the stock to that pistol more than one point of the body that we have and you've left them on the weapon now the other thing is they make a great but device to take some space to turn them into a mouthful of chiclets anyway just a thought there that the other part about this guy said this before we have a veneer fly again depth of nothing like it was three not coming into the country because people don't want the american dollar country because of the valuation of the currency another behind it f rn's to buy the same steel five shot j frames come out you guys remember when the gas mask they gotta be laughing through their shirts, Mark, through their hats. They gotta be going around, closing the door and just flapping their knees when they allow these guns to come in with no magazines. Ha ha, we can do. And the mags are probably still sitting under that. Yeah. Oh, you can bring the rifle in. But you won't bring any mags in. Exactly. But wait a minute, oh well. to the well let them have all the guns they want we'll just cut off their bullets who was the congresswoman that said that years ago years ago the same old mind your an angle of attack plus their brain she bragged about it publicly yep well I tell you what we have a caller caller being patient for just a few moments forgiveness and what we're gonna do we're gonna break down yeah we have to go to break here you guys you know upcoming billboard down go the well So here comes the commercial portion of the hour. That's another way to put it. But about three minutes worth it and we'll be back you guys. You don't find a paper or pencil? We'll be right back. Even raccoons respect the authority of a man with good nutrition. That's me. Now what's going on here? Well he started it, sir. I was trying to clean this fish and he tried to take it from me. Yeah, well you must have looked a little wimpy. Sir, I'm hungry. Johnson, if you'd have brought your own supply of freeze-dried food from the freeze-dried guy like I told you, you wouldn't have to be out here picking on the cute little animals. Well I'd give anything for a big chunk of protein right now. Ah, John Johnson, don't salivate us on becoming a marine. I'm sorry sir, I should have called the Freeze Dry Guy. Anyway, I'm not gonna know her name. I have been certain that people in the industry, it's kind of like Mark, I'm making them think, you know, people are so busy down with their jobs sometime, even if they're in the firearms industry, I started asking questions, I said, guys, the same thing I said in the air, what happened to Rossi? Where's Llama? Where'd these guys go? They made, if nothing else, you see, you know, for all the firearms, stuff usually gets passed, you know, of course, now here's part of where some of this is, it's in Afghanistan. When you have wars, we shift towards... Well, we've had lesser wars all been alive, and so they do consider percentage, but always in certain areas. But, that does not account for new production. Grab a shotgun news. I was going through even the shotgun news, and now granted, the guys who run the shotgun news, the guys that took it over have done a great job. Become a shooting magazine, like a paper magazine, and so they've got some phenomenal articles, and they're doing something that most everybody should be doing, is promoting the weapons, how to make weapons. fantastic but the thing is guys when you look at the market available behind the I brought this up in there like you know I didn't really think about that I've been so fixated on just trying to find something nobody asked the right questions where did these guys go oh I've got other people that are now thinking and asking the same questions what happened to the industry here and with pistols especially you know for instance a lot of you guys are gonna run into an odd weapon you're not if it says star or if it says llama or like I said Rossi guys those weapons are European production they've been over they've been around for a long time. Parts are available, picking up like a Rossi, beautiful firearms. If you especially find them in the box, I'll tell you I usually find them. Somebody bought them as a defense weapon and they bought them and they have them in the box and they never, till they did, they shot them a little bit, took them to the range, that cleaned them, put them right back in the box and that's how you'll find them. In some cases they were bought, put in the box and they were even fired. It was just like well I got a gun, have you ever used it? So you do have to handle your firearm, you do need to maintain it, people. And you do need to shoot it because that's what it's for. You're gonna run into a lot of weapons like that. Especially people who need camp guns or need weapons. Beautiful firearms for the ladies and for the kids. You know, for the children. I hate using kids, that's a ability. But children, they call these weapons a jig-or-bly. You'll find older weapons, guns, they look like detective specials. Those are fine. UCP, which is right now a drug on the market. There's a lot of .32 ACP out there. It's all over the place. P, automatic cold-pit, semi-ran upright in. It is a shim and eject. Something to think about there. But now, beware, if it's an overhand gun, you gotta be careful there. Use any hot plus keys or anything like that, just back to ACP as a fine load by itself. It's a bar pull the trigger, it goes, and it makes a whole lot of flashing noise, and it puts a nice ice pick hole wherever you're pointed at. The Chex used it as their standard personal sidearm round for a long time, and used it in the Scorp submachine gun. A 32 ACP is not something just to be I feel it. Oh no. That already goes. No, it's a bullet. Many people have died from QACP. A lot of the little Walter PPKs and the PPK knockoffs, the law enforcement, a good weapon, compact weapon, and Lama and Star in law, they made like the Comanche and 44 Magnum guys. The question is where the hell did these guys go? And I'm getting an answer and it's basically the same thing as the, well, I wasn't really paying attention, or, well, I need to ask. Because it's from the jobber end where this is being affected. And that has to do with your money, and it has to do with the economy, and the global economy in general, with regard to how we're getting bit. Anyway, I hear the music in the background, Don. Oh yeah, we're at the bottom of the hour break, and we'll be clear to the top. And if you picked up the phone and called and was interrupted, disconnected, maybe the wind blew down the telephone line to give us a call back. Yeah, it's that easy, you guys. Um, hey, how would that go? 888-747-1968? Well, we've got some plans toward the end of the hour, but hey, right here at the bottom we've got to do the break, you guys. So let's address the immediacy of the moment and go on the break. We'll be right back. The Intelligence Report front, you buy the micro effect in the morning, themicroeffect.com, the micro effect, we'll be right back. Do you wanna see me, sir? Well, I did, but now that I do, I'm not so sure. Sir? Johnson, I got a mission for you that could change your life. Oh, good, sir. It involves traveling halfway around the world, but that's so much as half a clue of where you're going and what you're gonna do when you get there. Situation normal, sir? Eh-heh. Well, I'll be leading this mission, Johnson, so I'll be telling you what to do. You, sir? That's right, Johnson, and I say first things first. Oh, good plan, sir. And when I say first is food, always remember that, Johnson. Food is a big deal. Sir, my brother-in-law can give us a really good deal on some surplus MREs. Johnson, if you've got half a... brain and that empty head of yours you'll call the Freeze Dry Guy like I did. That food is better for you, it rehydrates faster, and it's good, Johnson, and it keeps for up to 30 years. Will we be gone that long, sir? I hope not. Now get your supplies organized and meet me down at the pier at dawn on Sunday for a stale thundra. Yes, sir. This adventure is brought to you by the Freeze Dry Guy. What do you want to know what you got to do today on this Wet Wednesday? Another thing here, a real handgun issue, it's a 719-6 made, American made steel. When you pull the trigger on that, it was built for pretty hot load. Yeah, big old engine. Everybody knew what they were doing, like I said. doesn't mean you can't. You know, the guys who were loaded, but he tried to press the... Back in the day when that Dirty Harry gun and that Dirty Harry movie was made, Don, 44 mag. Yeah, if you go to Remington or Winchester, if you'll notice, they give the velocities who are on the boxes. Go back to the old green yellow box, they recognize, it's Remington, I'm Remington! White and red, oh, that's Winchester! You know, of course you got Federal, which kind of went back and forth over the years. Pre-80s coming up through the movie, Magnum Forstnal, the big old infra... that were developed for the gun. What happened is, across the industry, they ratcheted back, you pay attention, you can probably prove this out because a lot of you have old ammo boxes. So take a look at the 70s series ammo boxes, watch and pair them, and then look at the different boxes that you have. If you got a .44 Smith & Wesson factory out of the box, it dropped down, it dropped down in muzzle energy, and it dropped down in chamber prep. One of the reasons it was argued for this in general was that everybody started cranking out copies of our guns. In some cases, they weren't our guns, but they weren't Smith and Wesson and Cole. I think a number of reasons that's because that was part of the political. Because of this, the Comanche and the other .44 mag hog legs that were like that, the big old massive end frame guns, and actually one of the things to watch, unless somebody was loading their own or they came up with, we know they came up with the only thing that can do damage most of your weapons is this revolvers you want to inspect the inside the chamber you want to inspect the inside chamber watch for knocks or something that you got to watch for there's not a whole lot you can do if you have a three-fares and by the way the 44 Magnum has its counter before Magnum does 38 special is shares of lesser power it's interchangeable just like for heat or if you were feeding a standard load that probably wasn't going to cause any problems for that three seven Magnum p pluses plus p plus even stronger well the problem is is the Magnum type was a pressure spike farther, you know closer to the back cylinder wall instead of the normal step the cylinder which was a shockwave of that powder closer to the middle of the cylinder wall that normally would have been to the front of the revolver where you now the only thing that happens is this if you have a weapon of 57 where you load a bunch of rounds and boom then you open the cylinder and you try to just tap jumping out. Yes, there's happened there's been a change in just probably because we may have had that gun was kept shooting it that way This P-plus 38 was cheaper than 3 saving money. Well, the thing is, now this doesn't mean the gun is not serviced. What this means is, you want to experiment 38-wadcutters. 38-wadcutters, because it's the cheapest. Go get some lawmen, 38-wadcutters. The cheapest 38 special. Grab that, put 6 rounds in, fire again, pump, and you'll find it'll pop up. If you see it, do that. If your weapon will do that. Use to the idea of eating 37 magnum. The guy shooting it enough is magnum. So, drop a magnum around in there, but you're going to have to pump. In a crisis situation, you'd be amazed how things are based on the standard Smith and Wesson and the end frame. All your HK blitters out there and all the other ones like that there right now. The whole bunch of, that's the only one coming in in strength right now. The Philippines, good guns. A bunch of people have been fine with those guns. The big thing is a expensive firearm, ammunition. You can cast your own bullets. The medium, don't go high. We hear the bell's there, let's take our caller. Who do we have? Yeah, I've never heard you mention black powder cans. And when I was a kid, at quarter scale. Quarter scale and half scale, an example is here in Michigan. Where this came from or really became popular again was with the Civil War reenactment through the 60s, the 100th anniversary of the Civil War. Michigan, when we used to have industry, we actually had a lot of foundries here. And so a lot of those smaller tubes, actually custom made, you had to have, I know the formula, you had to have about 3,000, 30 out of six spent cases to save up the 3,000 of the Berdan Prize. Then you took it down to the foundry in Adrian and you took it to the foundry over in Albion. Add the other, you know, they would add the rest of their head to collect so much parts and they would cast. This was a standard foundry that did, you know, not if you wanted to have an artillery tube done. No problem. Five inch tube actually had the, of course they would do so you could find laying around a scrap. That's why you see them. As far as Black Carter guns go, oh yeah, they're front of the fort. You remember when they tried to beat down the doors? You got, you know, something that's, you know, a black uniform and there's a bunch of them piled up and you touch off something with about a two or three inch gun tube. Nothing they're wearing is going to slow that down. All the designs for those are very fire shot and the techniques that risk for making fire some different types. Switch to grape! You are a good idea. They're modern. If you go to YouTube and punch in the same subject, there are so many variations on this that people have developed. Now, the Civil War reenactment era, a lot of guys just started in black powder gun tubes. You wanted, they're even at the other end, you used the metal and then welded that into place and they would pin and modern gun tube nothing more than the pipe you know we actually know that very good part that very depending upon the era and the nationality because after a young first of all we had touch caps we had pull caps there's a whole technology there with black powder who was redeveloped to be cut place I mean you still don't notice that there's a good wide range of people they did go to the Flint igniter system you got to remember matches on the battlefield are kind of tied 8,000 men on 1,000 on the other British to stop the whole battle either side wanted to do it couldn't advance only consideration with black powder today we can do all kinds of cool things to pal and to make it so it's quick wouldn't be that hard to do pallet ice you know for instance your charges could be in cella pokum because the charge you would poke to the bag is already compromised. The particular scene where the guy's lighting the cannon for that my point is you could do for instance they use silk a lot of times that was silk because again the synthetics they got in the nylons and the idea is that that's complete. Cotton was the most common one of the most I've been around for some real material. Think about your rum black powder. It should not have been there of gunpowder. The guy that was sitting there said these are actions that have to look even in artwork. They show there's two things it has to do. A textured layer compromised with flame or an igniter. It has to be able to. There's another reason for that is bore evacuation. You're doing artillery and you did this in the Navy too although you have to actually run it so that you can eliminate. More than one thing we're describing now. 44 black mag. If absolutely correct and the Remington powder guns to purchase. There's nothing wrong with a . Remember that we made modern We used to have people that would say, well, black powder, that's just an antique, blah, blah, blah. Those weren't really lethal. They actually aren't lethal. They're not real weapons. 600,000 dead from the enemy. The guy's actually chosen a problem in his mindset. That's, again, propaganda with the people they don't think about it. A cap and ball revolver, they're with them because they're exposed. Again, the charges, we've got all these new lubricants. and all these new sealants and all the materials needed so that we've brought these guns up into the space age on top of that you can buy remington crest cross strap forty four revolvers in stainless steel i mean my god you know i wouldn't think too much about it and isn't and thank you on that note for the thirty six calibers there is a kit out there that was that does the navy or army conversion from thirty six caliber cap and ball it takes that non-paper gun and turns it into a cartridge Without any problem. It's a single-action revolver, but you know what that's six shots five minute desperate situation The other nice thing I turn that thing around just like they've always done use that for a little they're probably closing you should forget that it's pretty nice to have especially either now in the 36 to be sweet in the 44 I would assume they were doing 44 Smith and Wesson special 38 Smith and Wesson I was the 36 cal that's where I go those emf guns bill anything else because I want to cover something real quickly for what reason a black powder you change out the whole cartridge you could change it quicker Oh, yeah, guys think about that In fact, remember, black powder, I would point out, yes, they are pricey and stainless, but guess what? In stainless, they're a hell of a lot easier to maintain and the black powder does not affect the weapon. Doesn't mean you don't clean it. Don't you even start thinking there. I would love that. It was the stainless, I don't have to clean it. Clean the stainless steel gun, it still has carbon on it, carbon is your enemy. But a black powder, thank you Bill for that. The black powder conversions, using the short cartridges typically or the earlier, like from the middle of the last century cartridges that are more than modern enough. They are readily available or they can be built from other existing cartridges. Example, if you got a 38 Smith & Wesson and you were short and did not have any brass, you take 38 Special Brass, cut it down and resize it using some thermal lube. to heat up the case and you run it through a standard 38 Smith & Wesson die and you got yourself a 38 Smith & Wesson cartridge. Your case will be shorter, your bullet diameter is a little bigger but you're using cast lead anyway guys. Okay, just don't swage the bullet. If you use a .357 diameter bullet, you cast it, you're going to get a little bit of swelling, you don't swage it, you'll find it will go right up into the next dimension for the older .38 caliber real revolvers. Works just fine. I hear the music, Don. Yep, we are at the top.
