It is Quartermaster Friday, and I did want to touch on this. I mentioned Maine military the other day. I brought something else up really important about the uh... a lot of you guys are setting up your cold weather near your combat equipment for the season a lot of your doing five ten programs or many of your setting up your gear for the first time i'm gonna warn somebody and i and it depends on your stature first of all but a lot of people are going to tell you get a large backpack now large backpack i do carry a large by the way i carry a prototype for the replacement that will was put in service after the alice pack It doesn't mean I don't have Alice packs. Guys, I have Alice packs stored, packed up in hundreds of places around the state of Michigan. I have racks that are literally the wall. I've been doing this 510 program forever. It's part of our force multiplication. There are 10 Alice packs. They're hanging on a wall at a certain location with one of our allies. There are many places like this, but this is basically what you run into. They're either hanging on the wall or they're sitting on a shelf in a steel box that's already was constructed or bought from another site where somebody was tossed away in an industrial storage can. The Alice pack is completely loaded with everything that would be needed to issue to a person. This includes food, water containers, but the water is not in them yet for obvious reasons because in some cases there is no heat. But everything top to bottom is loaded up and is attached to the gear. It's cinched to the gear. In other words, if I were to grab that bundle, which is the Alice Pack, all the fixtures on the outside, all the pouches on the instrument itself, everything is loaded for bear. But it's a basic shopping list that every one of those Alice Packs Now, they're typically medium Alice packs. And the reason is the average person, while a large would be a great idea, a large is going to run you up around 60 to 70 pounds easily. In fact, once you've got everything on board, you're talking up to 90 pounds of equipment and food and water. Now, don't worry. The food and water will leave fast enough, and you'll wish you had more, and you'll wish you were still carrying it, you know, carrying some. But a certain amount of the gear is just stuff because if you're going into the field as leg infantry, you're not getting any air drops. You're not getting any resupply. Whatever you carry in, whatever you have to carry in is what you're going to be fighting with. So whatever you carry in is what you have to fight with. Period. for this reason the medium packs are the better choice they were also most common by the way others are made of back packets not readily available anymore i have not seen them in a while with comparable to the alice pack putting canvas they were quite cheap at about five dollars apiece our price uh... we're not talking knockoffs are talking to nato standard backpack though actually pretty well made for what it was of the alice packs are available through main military are excellent choice They come with a frame which means you can mount a whole lot of other stuff on board without any complications and if you go to first of all go to mainmilitary.com mainmilitary.com mainmilitary.com now to LTR specials on the left side there's a whole bunch of listings LTR special and once we get to LTR specials then the scroll down to the one two three four five tiers 1, 2, 3, 4, it's the fifth line. The Alice Pack is very very versatile. If you look it has a lot of strap points, it has a lot of connectors, it has a lot of hangers, all of them work to your advantage. Study the equipment. These are, this is a Swiss, looks to be, sterno or alcohol stove. Three gel fuel packs with stove. five pack for twenty dollars. Now these are the military ones, the Army MRE heaters and three gel fuel pack with stove, five pack, twenty dollars. There are a couple other variations, one of them that I really like. Now tell you what, you get the Alice pack, pick up five of these, you will like them because it settles a whole bunch of other problems. There is, this is five pack Swedish stove kit. This has now a bottle for the alcohol fuel. It's got the alcohol stove right there. You can see it all in the picture. But you also get the kidney-shaped mess kit, European mess kit. Now that's the lid is a pan, the bucket is a pan, and there's also typically another tray inside. But even if it's just those two, that's a lot of tool to have for one package and it's self-contained. So consider it. Plus also is the stand-off stove for that kit. There's a stand-off frame. This is very well thought out. It's Swedish, very well made. And it's $15 for five stoves. $15 for five stoves. This is an excellent solution. There are a number of different ways that that's done. Throw it hollow, everything that's, you know, any place for their space. The stove, the rack for the stove fits around the kidney fixture itself. Goes around it so that it's stored properly. intake of any extra space. The other kit basically components should fit inside the mess kit itself or can be carried separately. A lot of times you want the fuel to be carried somewhere else anyway, so you're going to kind of keep that away from the rest of the gear. Alcohol in this case, which can serve more than one purpose if it's done right. Remember, you're carrying clean alcohol, that's great for doing body maintenance. If you have to do medical, there's a number of different reasons that that alcohol can serve more than just the one mission in this case for heating and eating okay so another you know answer to a sweetheart to a question asked over and over and over again I will dwell on this one more time. They have both the M10M and they have the finished gas mask. The M10M is a copy of the M17. The finished gas mask is a copy of the M9. Either one will be just fine. It will not be on the extreme range. They're wanting to see how the bullets print. So next weapons Wednesday we may have an evaluation, at least written but preferably with a verbal report, on the performance of this Singapore ammunition to let you know how it's printing on the paper with a bow barrel, long configured home kit rifle, and how it works in the barrettes. We have a lot of the barrettes out there, especially here in this state. the Barrett 50s and the guys will probably be testing a bolt gun. In both cases they'll be bolts initially. We want to find out what the individual round is doing. We want it in a sealed system so there's no additional interaction with the activity. It's a straight forward, pull the trigger, bullet goes down range, where does it hit the paper? Make sure you've got your eye protection, hearing protection, make sure that everybody knows where those weapons are pointed. Range officers should always be designated. You never work the range without range officers in charge. Everybody is paying attention to what's going on. Everybody assists other people. If there is a problem or complication, immediate response, not reaction, response, trained response is critical. Most all of the ranges we have a security detail or security attachments that are a combat unit. Their mission is if in the event bad guys try to cause a problem on the range or near the range, it would not be bode well for the bad guys. What it does is make sure that we have a tripwire, and this has been our policy forever, guys. We always have a unit over watching the ranges that's ours, that's cock blocked and ready to rock and roll. That's going back many many many many many years. That way if somebody tries to come in and puff up, they won't be puffed up for very long. Just how it works. And the bad guys know it too. The other thing is, only an idiot would try and cause problems with the firearms owners at a gun range or at a gun show. But there's a lot of idiots in government now or in their system that think they're government wannabes. So be frosty, pay attention to what's going on and be ready for the worst.
