After we got canning and refrigeration, salt lost its strategic importance and became just another inexpensive commodity. Recently, I interviewed a scientist named Dr. Gal Luft on my Saturday radio program. He says that oil now has the strategic importance that salt once had in the world because oil underlies our entire transportation system and our very way of life. Our dependence on oil makes us highly vulnerable to unfriendly dictators who control 80% of the world's oil. Dr. Luft is an advocate of energy independence. He says that we must break oil's monopoly as a fuel source. He uses salt as a metaphor and says our task is to turn oil into salt. Dr. Luft explains that we cannot achieve energy independence through consuming less oil or drilling for more oil. That is because the OPEC nations, mostly in the Middle East, control the sources of oil and how much they pump out of the ground. Any time they want, they can reduce production to keep oil prices higher or increase production to make oil prices lower. The solution is for us to create a competitive fuel market by making cars that can run on alternatives to oil. With a minor modification that costs about $100 per car, auto manufacturers can build fuel flex cars that run on any combination of gasoline and methanol, ethanol, and butanol. A competitive market for fuel at the pump would reduce gas prices and make oil much less important on the world market. It really is something to think about. The rotation would be every six months in the personnel, one part of the state to the next as far as all this happened, especially in the nineties with the militia, but it happened in the eighties. It happened in the nine. And it's happened many, many times before the militia for a period of that. You have to have be prepared. better be prepared and no matter how you won't be sufficiently prepared for it no matter what you do. There are going to be glitches, there are going to be mistakes. These when we don't have one big independent militia units here in Michigan. We have a new organization that 380 men in a number of bodies that's actually you know three in strength. They have been vacuuming up and there is a surplus here because they're you know they're they're outfitting a lot. Well even as they had their last meeting year about two weeks ago I get to attend part of that. One of the things linked up with them. The high percentage of those people needed, you know, generally to be rounded out equipment wise. They are still upgrading in weapons. That formation is integrating with the other, but not being absorbed. Years of convents, etc. Why are you going to break them up or say, well, no, you're going to be over here and this part of the group is going to... you don't do that. They're co-pathetic, they understand each other, they know each other.
