Live 365. In this, the land of the free and home of the brave. The freedoms we secured for you we hoped you'd always keep. But tyrants labored endlessly while your parents were asleep. Your freedom's gone, your courage lost, you're no more than a slave. In this, the land of the free and home of the brave. You buy permits to travel and permits to own a gun. Permits to start a business or to build a place for one. On land that you believe you own, you pay a yearly rent. Although you have no voice in saying how the money's spent, your children must attend a school that doesn't educate, and your Christian values can't be taught according to the state. You read about the current news in a regulated press, and you pay a tax you do not owe to please the IRS. Your money is no longer made of silver nor of gold. You trade your wealth for paper so your life can be controlled. You pay for crimes that make our nation turn from God and shame. You've taken Satan's number and you've traded in your name. You've given government control to those who do you harm so they could burn down churches and seize the family farm. and keep our country deep in debt. Put men of God in jail. Harash your fellow countrymen while corrupted courts prevail. Your public servants don't uphold the solemn oaths they've sworn. And your daughters visit doctors so their children won't be born. Your leaders send artillery and guns to foreign shores and send your sons to slaughter fighting other people's wars. Can you regain the freedoms for which we fought and died? Or don't you have the courage or the faith to stand with pride? And are there no more values for what you will fight to save? Or do you wish your children to live in fear and be a slave? Oh, sons of the Republic, arise. Take a stand. Defend the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the land. Preserve our great Republic and each God given right. And pray to God to keep the torture freedom burning bright. As I awoke he'd vanished in the mist for whence he came. His words were true. We are not free, but we have ourselves to blame. For even now as tyrants trampled, each God given right, we only watch him tremble, too afraid to stand and fight. If he stood by your bedside in a dream while you were asleep and wondered what remains of the freedoms he'd fought to keep, what would be your answer if he called out from the grave? Is this still the land of the free? home. Alright, we should have Don with us. We do have Don up now. I'm using the normal phone system so it'll be a little scratchy till I get Skypoked up, okay? Okay, sounds good. Okay, up and running. I can't hear him Ed. Okay, one, two, three. There we go! I can hear you now. This is good. Alright. And Don, can you hear Mom? Yes, five by. Good. Wonderful. Today is? Well, by my notes and calculations, today is the seventh day of September, you guys. Again, Year of Our Lord, 2007 and 2010. I looked right at that seven, it said 2007. Oh my. Transferance or whatever you want to call it. The Feast of Gitchers have a word for that damn sheet. External influence or something. There's some phraseology they've got for it, but I felt like I was into it there for a moment. But again, September 7th, Year of Our Lord, 2010. Okay. Of course, Tuesday is Communications Tuesday. We've got Eddie here and yourself. Goodness, Dad, you lost something. I'm trying to find my headset. Wow, not good. Yeah, he's out of the loop here. Well, how's the weather where you're at? Are you getting that? Remnants of a hurricane? No, well we've had some gusts here, but not too bad. It's been warm, but breezy, nice and dry, good weather for working outside. And that's what we've been doing. Oh goodness, pretty much all weekend when I haven't been working. Oh goodness, insanely busy weekend with the students coming back to town for U of M plus their first home game, pep rally. Oh my goodness. Food was flying out the store. Couldn't keep it on the shelf. It was quite the weekend. That's always good though. Oh yeah. Great for sales, job security, I can't tell you that. So this is good. I guarantee they'll be hiring probably a couple more people into our department, which is a good thing. Especially for the weekends, you know, for game days. Dick gets a little crazy for all the tailgaters coming into town and picking up those last-minute things to throw on the grill. Is that a collar? Nope. Uh oh. Something else. Oh, we might have a collar. Oh, that's a... Oh, we hit the dickball. Oh my. That's a pretty good influence on the line there. Ghost of Jimi Hendrix. There we go. Little background. Yeah, that's a double up there isn't it? Yeah, I lost him. No, no, yeah, you got a clear line now and now mom should be able to hear you again. You still can't hear Don? I can't hear him, no. It's turned all the way up to you. No. Oh, you know what? I can hear Don, but nobody else can. That's fine, okay. No, no, no, no, no, that wasn't the case at all I had these headphones plugged into the front of that computer because I hooked up Skype so that way it wouldn't go out over the air and I forgot to unplug it while I was talking to dad. Okay. Well, we got to get out now. I've had the boys very, very busy today. But we got a whole lot done. And hopefully, hopefully it will be a good surprise. No, things are coming along here. We're getting things squared away. Of course, you know, doing the fall cleaning. You know, people do spring cleaning. Well, we do fall cleaning here too, trying to get things squared away and ready for winter. And that's locking everything up. Of course, that's something we do too. Do we have a caller? No, actually, that means... I got to bring some stuff up guys because we are getting close to the end of the month and I thought we had till October 11th But we actually have to October 6 to get the funds raised for the station well to get the funds to them Yeah, to get the funds to them and it which means we have to have a week prior to that date so gee the last day of this month the 30th is the day when we have to have a things from there to transfer from PayPal into the account so I can pay them direct. So, things are not looking too good folks. Well, we'll get what we can get and if I have to I'll step down the service package and but if we do that we're probably going to be looking at another six months we'll have to be raising funds again. Right. Well, yeah, and go to a shorter billing cycle which is going to up the cost totally for the year. The cost is in the long term but it will be manageable and we'll be able to keep a bigger portion of our listening. Yeah, our listeners. Right. And you know, that's something, we're looking at all the different angles here folks. Ustream of course is something that we can do as well, which we do have a number of listeners that way. Yeah, in fact we're up and running on Ustream right now. I did not get my Facebook updated with that because We've been working on a problem. I thought it was a memory problem, but it appears to be a hard disk space problem. So I might have to upgrade the hard drive, which won't be too bad, because actually Best Buy has those things for about 75. Oh, right. Yeah, right. I can do that, and that will be easier than... Trying to track down the right memory for that machine to coming up here in a couple of months So probably be clear and seeing some more out there where I work as well plus Discount they're getting close to holiday season to a lot of stuff that's gonna be going on sale and I'll be looking for any deals I can to save us money right when as we go to get this up in the morning It is communications Tuesday, and yes, I'm eating while I'm talking sorry guys It's been that kind of a day well We do have a couple interesting events coming up well an event coming up this weekend in Pennsylvania the I'm not sure if I'm saying this right poco no no yeah area ham fest and you're looking at the video screen which is showing what I'm looking at right that's in Pennsylvania okay, that's got to be close to the New York Yeah, New York, New Jersey area right well, Pocono's mountains up there is where you know Niagara Falls area and a lot of honeymoon vacation spots up there in the Poconos. That's what it's noted for. So, honeymoon retreats up there. So, this is- At our junior high school, Sounberg Junior High School. September 11th at Sounberg Junior High, PA on Chipper Field Drive. Doors open at 6 a.m. For vendors 8 a.m. For general admission Adults get him for five dollars. Let's see children light. What is it unlicensed spouse and unlicensed children free There we go quite sure I understand what that means on my They might be talking about ham license or it could be something else. I don't know. It's Pennsylvania They're kind of weird there. We know a lot of weird people from Pennsylvania But anyway, I was looking at that and I was remembering Daryl and Mike are looking for a tower and you guys if you're looking for stuff like that the Hanfests are a good place to go I'll post a link to this in the chat room here real quick and I got to get mom in the chat room too so Anybody in the general what mountain area did you say that was? Poconos Poconos yeah the Poconos Mountain area might want to go check this out Just posted a link in the chat room everybody can see today What I'm doing on the computer that I've got the chatroom hooked up to because that's broadcasting you stream and it's on my side. It's not on dad's So that's a plus so if I go to a website or a see a website that somebody wants to bring to attention I can actually try and go there to bring it up I'm all kinds of fun, but right now I got the information for the Pocono area ham fest up on the website in fact That's their webpage. I just posted it in the chatroom so guys go check that out Um, gee. I was also looking into Ram's electronic kits and they got something interesting I might want to just for play. They've got a tube tech digital clock. Wow. Yeah, the old tube. But it's a tube with the element that changes inside what path it's going to. I think that would be fun to build. Yeah. Wow. That's on an off note. Oh goodness, well we have Knob Creek coming up in just a few weeks as well. That's about 6 weeks off. That's far away, you're right. Right, that's the, let's see. That's the weekend of the 11th. Always. On my birthday. Always. Always shows up on my birthday. Yeah. Ah, goodness. I'm turning for the exact dates out there for Knob Creek. Um, I can actually, I'll see you. Pull that up, of course. If you would please. And... scroll on down to KCR and there's a knob creek and what am I looking for? machine gun shoot information and well that's something you know while you're looking at it I gotta say we've touched on this before if you've never been to the knob Creek machine gun shoot that's someplace to go you guys if you're you know if you got a little bit of interesting gunning at all Knob Creek, you should be there at least once in your life. The Battle Rattle is one phrase. Hey, how about that? It actually doesn't land on the 11th. Oh my. It's the 8th, 9th, and 10th. Amazing. We'll be back in time for your birthday this year. It's the first time in a long time. Oh my. Oh yeah, but that's the Knob Creek Machine Gun shoot that's coming up next month. There'll be a lot of people there. Always go meet and talk to people and check out what's going on there. That's Kind of a form of communications guys actually going to meet people of like mind You can go there ask people questions if you got a firearm that You want to know more about that would be the place to go fine somebody who knows more about it. Well, better if you have an interest in one, you're thinking about it, but not really sure you want to do that. Go and talk to the people that have them, people that are walking around with them and talk to them. See what interests, what they like or dislike about that firearm. So you find pros and cons of it because people that are there That's what they're there for. They're there to meet, greet, pick up new equipment, get rid of the stuff that they don't really want anymore or are willing to want to trade up in the gun show world that's how it goes. You buy something and then trade up for something better down the road. Well, for everybody watching the Ustream feed right now, I've got open Ramsey Electronics website. This is the hobby kit section and I'm looking at AM transmitters and FM transmitters. The cheapest AM that I'm seeing that they have is the AM1C. It's $34.95. I had some requests about AM transmitters where we could get them. These are the kit form and I think we've got a caller. Sounds like it. Caller. Yep, you got down from Michigan. Hey, Tom. Eddie, I'm never probably logging into Live 365 and I try to get help from them and I'm a VIP member and it's not letting me do it. Says my password and my name's not correct and it's correct. I got it written right here. You've checked your caps lock and make sure it's turned off? Pardon? Have you checked the caps lock and the spelling on it? Make sure the cap lock is down. Okay. Well, I've checked everything I've been trying to do it for about 10 minutes I haven't had any other person who's a VIP have mentioned a problem But I guess everybody's out there if you're having a problem with live 365 let us know You can relay that back all I can say is do the password recovery the email that you use to set that up is an active email, right? Yeah, do the password recovery and make sure that the password that you have written down matches the password that's there Okay Thanks, Eddie. Sorry for putting it out over there, but it's frustrating. No, that's okay. Other people might be having the same problem. Okay, thanks. Love you guys. Take care. See you next time. Bye-bye. And that's one thing to remember also with alternative communication if you are even using a dummy email address to create an account It's nice if that dummy email address is at least quasi real so that way if you have a password problem or something like that you can go to that email address to Get confirmation on whatever you were signing up for You know, it's something to remember guys Excuse me, the cough button Well, and again, the two kits, and this is in the hobby section over at Ramsey that are there for the AM transmitter kits, these are both for under a hundred. The cheapest one, though, again, is the AM1C entry-level AM radio transmitter kit. It's $34.95. Let's see if I can get a little more information on this. Let's see, Tunze entire 550 to 1600 kHz AM band operates on 9 volt to 12 volt DC, includes case set. Let's see, standard line level input RCA phone jack. And it is 100 milliwatt output range up to one quarter mile. Under optimum conditions, in other words, flat terrain guys and you can see a lot of stuff But there are other things that you can do to help of course height is always good on your antenna And let's see do not include the 12 volt wall plug adapter to include the 12 volt wall adapter Let's see is the price change. Oh, yeah, there's a price change if you want the 12 volt wall plug adapter. It's $44.90 then But for the bearer kit if you just want to build something to transmit to your local neighborhood That is the cheapest for the am range right there the that I can see it's the AMC one entry-level am radio transmitter kit So there's one solution for the people were asking about that and these are kits guys you got to put them together Yeah, you can get the assembled, but the kits are cheaper than the assembled absolutely And they're not that hard to put together folks well most of them are especially the low-level ones like this and that is Straightforward diagram walks you through what part goes where the parts are simple you're not dealing I don't think you're dealing with any microchips on that one So there's no quote. Yeah hang on here. It's moving slow cuz I'm doing Yeah, yeah, I don't see any microchips on that one. It's just basic components you can see your crystal tuner Right there use a little dipstick on that to tune the whole thing Which the case doesn't have an open point for it something else I should make note of is most of these have a whip antenna slot or which the case will be drilled for by the company, but the Tuning slot usually there's nothing there and I like to poke a little hole in the case for that up above Right so made you can tune it because the old crystal ones when they get warm. They have a tendency to drift a little Back and forth so that's something to remember to the crystal tuners now next one up is on The list here for the am transmitters it makes a big jump it goes to 99 95 This is a little better. It's digital. It's dip dip controlled and crystal tuned It's let's see fully sensitized no frequent. Oh, no frequency drift. There you go at all is what they say Let's see ideal for schools microprocessor controlled Let's see doo doo doo doo doo So microprocessor? Power input where regulations compare. Okay, you can boost the power where regulations permit. Now that's FCC stuff guys. Oh Let's see includes AC power adapter and case set and that's for AM that's not bad But that's like about the size of the old FM25s we were getting right there. Right? The FM25s for the better of the smaller FM kits, but the FM100B which is the big one that's what I used to transmit with out of here in Dexter is 269 95 now that's actually gone up in price since the last time I've been on the page Wow that's FM. That's not am guys right. We're into the FM bands now from here on down The cheapest low power FM kit looks like it is the FM10C which is 4495 and that one operates off of 12 volt or 9 volt. Again you can see that one in the image there if you're looking at our Ustream page. It has the 9 volt battery hookup right there. And clips inside again the skate the case Screws closed that's your little tuning crystal right there if you're looking at the u-stream page Close to the antenna, but not quite the case again won't have a hole for the tuner So I recommend yeah, cuz the FM and the AM that are crystal tuned they do drift a little so that's something you want to take care of Let's see oh it says 12 to 15 volt DC or 9 No, five. Five? Yeah, five to 15 volt DC. I didn't think it would go that well, but that's what we used to use at the... Oh. At the station? UN Rally. Oh, the UN Rally. Yep, and the suitcase transmitter that everybody would see me carry around. That's the transmitter kit that we used inside of that. We just string an antenna up in the trees and transmit to everybody who's got a radio in the protest area. In the area? Yeah. Or in the building. And we know we had a few people listening in the building. That was fun. And that worked well because it kept everybody informed for citing, shall we say, troop movement on the ground that was friendly and unfriendly. So there's a couple of low-power FM and AM solutions for under $50 right there for you guys. And there's other hobby kits and stuff on Ramsey Electronics that you can get. They make a little one-watt kicker. Which I'm not seeing on the hobby kit page, but that doesn't mean it's not there Of course depending on FCC regulation they might have nope there it is the LP a 1 which is the low power amplifier right there and that is running 54 95 now for the kit and Without the AC power supply with the AC power supply it's 64 90 Again this these kits you put them together yourself And you can see it there is not much to that kit right there if you're looking on use stream There is pretty much enough in there effect. I'll pull up a larger image for everybody There is not much you have to solder in there at all very simple very straightforward Yeah, cool and CB radios, the family channel radios. Sometimes they'll be in three channels, sometimes they'll have five channels. Sometimes they'll be a pair of them, sometimes they'll be six of them, depending on how big the family is, depending on what they do. Sometimes you'll find them there for two or three dollars apiece, you guys, or even take the whole set for five. At that rate, if one of them doesn't work, you're still way ahead, aren't you, Nancy? That's it. And two, this is the time of year, people are, gee, they're dead. A lot of people's back are against the wall. They took the boat out this year and paid the big bucks last year to store it at a marina or a storage facility. And they may not have the money to store it this winter. So those marine radios, Might just be out there as well if you know what you're looking for and those marine radios go a heck of a lot farther Two of them two of them will span the width of the state of Michigan and three three will do the full length which is about 6 800 miles if my reckoning is now about 700 miles from the southern border of Michigan to to St. Marie. Yeah, which is not a bad jump. Three three radios in that, you know, seven, seven, eight hundred miles total. So no, I don't think it's even that's not that much. What am I thinking? It's 300 from here. So be about 400 miles. A span of three three marine radios will do that full length. No, you can't get that with a CB and you sure aren't going to get it with a walkie-talkie. You're right. But you guys, you know, the bargains are out there. That's the point, too. It seems like, well, you're taking advantage of somebody else's unfortunate circumstances, but you know, if they don't want it, they're probably putting it out there first. And, you know, it's another thing, you know, well, maybe they weren't as cautious as they should have been because Mark pointed just If the, you know, for the trash man to pick up and the trash man don't pick it up, they'll put a sign on the front of it, free. Set out by the curb. They aren't even going to move it again. Seen that happen too many times. So, yeah. I mean, and I, there was no way that I was going to go out and buy a conversion box. I'm glad I didn't because the people at work that I talked to that went ahead and bought their conversion box with their government incentive money that they were given, so I got it for like $30 instead of the $300, $400. It doesn't work anyway because they live in a hilly area and they have a house with aluminum siding. Or it goes away when the wind brick comes up or the weather comes in. But if you live in a hilly area, if you have aluminum siding, or like you said, the wind picks up, or there's a bunch of trees in the area, it does not work. So they bought a, you know, either bought a new TV or bought the conversion box and it don't work. So what good is that? You know, they're out, period. Whereas, if you've got the old style, you at least play your DVDs and whatnot, which is all they've done. They're doing the same thing with their TVs now that we're doing here. If we want entertainment, we'll pop in a video or a DVD and that's it. You know, it's okay. Or even using the Wii, go in and use a computer for what's on the computer as far as programs that we wanted to see, either C-SPAN or whatever, can pull it up through the computer on that Wii game. It reminds me as far as alternative technology goes. There is something else and I'll see if I can find it here real quick through TigerDirect. If you want to use your computer with your television, there is a little box they sell for about 35 that will convert your TV into a computer monitor. No matter what type it is, if it's the old analog, it'll work with it. Oh, you mean, gee, what used to be web TV? Yeah, basically, except it would use your existing computer. It just adapts the monitor over. Turns the TV into a monitor, yeah. Yeah, exactly. Which is basically what it is. And I got a keycat over here crying, because everybody's out here and nobody's paying attention to it. Oh my. Hi, Jack! Yeah. Oh, key to cat, Jack. Nice. Oh, perfect. Yeah. Better know it was Jack out of the box, because he was the first one out of the box and wouldn't stay in after that. Crazy kid. That was it. He would not stand. That was... no way. That's Dan there. From the time he was just a little thing. But he's still kind of that way. He's got to be with the people. So, yeah. He's an Ed's lab. Oh my. Being consistent. But that's okay. Communication. I mean, that's what we're talking about here, basically. Different ways to communicate. Any way you can get it. That's it. Done. Well, let's get into another form of communication. How about communicating in the field? Okay, we've talked about radio, CB. There's 2 meter, there's 10 meter, there's walkie-talkie. But there are other forms of communication in the field. Hand signals. Oh, line of sight right there as long as you can see. Yep. Divers know about hand signals. A number of divers have even gone so far as to work up and gain the American Sign Language so you just spell out your words instead of what you are looking at and what you are trying to point to. There is one way right there. That can be kind of longhand, you know what I mean. Mark talks about standard operating procedure. which can be run in hand signals can be run down to like you know no pun intended uh... shorthand yes because a particular signal might mean a whole paragraph one one motion of the hand might mean a whole paragraph worth of instruction by pre-planning exactly okay yes i know jack okay i didn't found what i was looking for exactly but i did find uh... something of interest here refurbished pinnacle studios Basically it looks like Studio 10 which is what Ethan uses for editing his videos. It's got a USB interface plugged into your computer and then it's got inputs on the front refurbished through Tegra Direct for $49.99. Wow. And mom knows those things are usually expensive. Took a chunk of change to get the last one that we picked up. These ones are refurbished and they're more than half off. Wow. That's yeah, so I'll post that it's anybody's interested in doing YouTube videos using their existing, you know home footage or whatever This device lets you do a direct input from your VCR into your computer and record it and it has editing software that comes with it I'll post that in the chatroom too for producing your own television. Hey, how about that? Hang on here. I gotta find my way back to the chatroom now saying post that in there There we go. That's a pretty good deal. I'm sorry guys. I know I'm looking these aren't sponsors or anything. This is alternative communications Devices that I'm looking at that I found on sale for cheap, and I'm just putting that out there for everybody Looking for something else so so That's all right. That's you know that's a wonderful find actually it is that'd be a great backup We're always looking to backups to systems because I tell you what, working with computers as much as we do here, yeah, you've got to have backups ready to plug in if something goes down or else the station's down for a while and we don't need that. We want to keep running and keep up and going so that the communications of information continues to go out. Yes, Edward. No, I'm looking. Oh, I'm sorry. I got this on. Oh my. But, any rate, what we're looking at here is... We were talking about hand signals and communications in the field. Even the field phones, I know Mark has talked about those extensively, but the hand signals, I know he's gone over as well, but you can't, there are different ways, different signals, as you talked about prior planning. There are standard things that have been used in the field, in the military, that way your Oh goodness, your voice, control of that situation, you're not drawing attention to yourself. And just even with the use of the gas signal. If gas is in the area, putting your mask on and then touching your shoulders. are beating six together. This is a way, touching the shoulders is one way of making sure that people understand gas, get your mask on now, or you're going to be out of commission. You're out of the game, yeah. That's it. I've seen the effects of what it is like. and being aware of which way the wind is blowing before you set those things off too, because that's one thing that the opposition ran into. They threw the gas into the area, and it blew back into them, because they weren't paying attention. They didn't pay attention to which way the wind was blowing, and they threw it right back in their own face. Wow. Not only did it get some of the guys that were initially upfront, To them our people knew immediately what was coming. They saw it the yellow they put their mask on they were okay and the other guys oops Not all of them had their masks, so they were again and oh my yeah That was actually caught on on audio tape that was Interesting because it got a cut dropped in the area and as they had to come back through and pick it up But you know it played out and these guys are gagging and coughing and my eyes my eyes oh my Yeah, really bad news because they were out of commission and they're the ones that deployed deployed the gas Of course that was the let's see special response came here for Michigan the state of Michigan. Whoo-hoo Yeah If you don't know how to use equipment, it was a practice run basically, but you better, even in a tactical situation when you are in a gaming mode basically, you need to know. Are you going to wind up as a casualty? And you know with some of the agents that can be used, you can wind up with pneumonia and have some real major problems thereafter. Just simply because you don't know how to use your own equipment. And that's not something you need to do. So make sure that you're up and online and you are squared away and you understand how to use your equipment. communications, goodness, written communications, phone communications. A lot of times what we want to do is, you know, we're trying to disseminate information, use codes, folks, for, you know, things that are, how to say it, confidential between people because we know they're listening. So make sure that your phone lines are secure if they're secure in more than one way because we do know that they listen and you're not going to be able to pretty much stop them from taping your conversations. But if you're using certain codes, certain phrases, key phrases that mean something to your group or to your family and only to them, then There's your information. It's passed by the matter of a few words. Everything that needs to be known again. It's all prior planning, all something that you can do and set up ahead of time. That proper planning should always be key in your mind. Plan for the what ifs. I have a plan to go out the door now. We talked about this earlier. Yes, we did. Thank you so much, Don, for all your help. Thank you. God bless you. Take care. Talk to you soon. We'll see you at eight. God bless. Of course, that's Don Betcher. We'll continue on here, Ed and I. through to the top of the hour here. I can't find it. Okay. Call in number, I know it's here somewhere. The board or the white board? Oh, I'm sorry. Call in number is 1218-844-8060 and that code number is 4 3 7 9 2 9 6 and the pound sign again the phone number is 218 8 4 4 8 0 6 0 and code 3 up for 3 7 9 2 9 6 and the pound sign just wanted to Give everybody a heads up there give us a call in here kind of doing this on the fly tonight, but Goodness, it's it's been a while since I've done it. All right, Alex said he missed the link. I just reposted the link to the video capture tool for Pinnacle Studios. I'm not sure if that's what he was talking about. Hopefully that's it because we've had many many you put a lot of links up there tonight post Two minutes ago. Okay. Well, I think that's a one Tiger Direct I think Tiger Direct for the pinnacle studios thing that's on sale right? If not, let me know if you were looking for the Ramsey electronics link I can post that again Yeah, I posted quite a few Alex. So let me see here. I'll go back and take a look I'll post everything again. Of course, this is for Pennsylvania and you're in California. So this one's probably not what you're looking for, but that's for the ham fest that's going on this weekend, September 11th and go over here. Okay. Now I'm lost. I'm clicking on the wrong things. And here is the one for Ramsey Electronics with the FM and AM kits on their hobby kit page. There we go. I think those are all the links that I've posted. I'm looking for the link for the converter box, because I know they had it. It's at Tiger Direct. Everybody's just watching the Ustream feed can see me searching through there looking for the thing. I figured check under TV accessories since I can't find it. I'm not having any luck finding it. I know it's there. I'll find it afterwards when I don't I hardly is asking to for the pokino area hand fest plus So yeah, I put the pokino's area ham fest is at www.qsl.net forward slash n forward slash n3 is forward slash ham fest is the link for that over in po-ling-ya. Okay Okay, he's saying now Ramsey Electronics, so that's the other thing they read. Yeah, that's the link right there just above where he said that. Right, okay, wonderful. So, given that... And they have more than AMF in there. They actually do have... They have a kit for turning your computer into a weather satellite receiver. Which is kind of cool. Yeah. Yeah. There's all kinds of cool stuff that they have there and a lot of these are home kits. One of the really cool ones that we played with was the radar gun out of a coffee can and we liked Coffee can and there was also one out of a Pringles one. No what no no no the Pringles and that was from Seattle Wireless Which is one of the alternate groups that is out there not a lot of people know this but Seattle Washington actually has a network of free Wi-Fi that pretty much blankets the whole city that was done by University students that got together the group is called Seattle Wireless you could go to Seattle Wireless comm uh... there a lot of their information was open to the public and they put it out there should people had a build this stuff uh... the fcc and a couple of corporations started you know complaining about what they were doing so they took a lot of technical information off but as far as i know they're still up and running in seattle washington uh... you can go pretty much anyplace downtown and even out to some of the parks where you wouldn't think they would be able to have repeaters in fact uh... every now and again they've got a boat out in the bay and they bounce the signal to the boat in the middle of the bay and then over to the other side of the shore. So their wifi signal pretty much blankets the whole city. Wow. That's cool. That is so cool. Yeah, there's some real... And they're the ones who built the Pringles can who sent me the information and the details for that. That's cool. Now they've stopped using the Pringles can, they've started using the old mini satellite dish like Dish Network and whatnot. Right. And they're using that to point, send and receive. Oh, that's perfect. That's what they were intended for. But yeah, well that was when they started that. It was long before Dish Network was Before it was passé. And Pringle's cans were more plaufferent than the dish's. Yeah, the dish network dishes. Which are, although I think we've got what? What have we got? Six of them sitting out there? On the post? Yeah, we've got six of them. Two of them are hooked up, one of them's being worked on. One's a directional mic, the other one's going to be a Wi-Fi bounce. Yeah, uh busy busy. Yeah, well Wi-Fi receiver not sender because it's only gonna be I don't know if you can do that because I think you have to have a Handshake you have to pick up the signal and then you got a bounce it back. Ah So we might have to rig a transmitting antenna there, too I don't know how to I don't know the technical stuff on that. I'll have to talk to other people But yeah, we have contact with with enough people to do that actually be kind of interesting to have the guys from Seattle up sometime that would be fun. I'd have to get a hold of Sean Kennedy because he's the one who has the contact information. Oh, yes. He's an interesting person. Yeah, Sean's an interesting character in and of himself. He's got his own internet television site. If you have kids, I don't recommend that you go there. Nope, uh, yeah. He's got a foul mouth and he does a lot of weird stuff. He believes in free speech. Oh no, he does an equipping program, which is actually pretty good. It's like the equipping for the New World Order series, but he always starts off bare-ass naked in the woods. What would you do? I'm sorry, but that's how the program opens! Oh my, forgive me. Yeah, I haven't seen the opening. Now I lie. He's from Canada. Yes. Okay. Yep. Yep, yep, yep. He was, if I... Although for his age I find it a little hard to believe, but he says he was a Canadian ranger. He's younger than me, but he's out of the service now. No, probably didn't last long. Not with that mouth. He has been on MTV a couple of times. Ah. Yeah. Okay. Interesting character, like I said, interesting character. Yeah. He's got some interesting ideas to say the least. He is preparedness. He's a quasi-anarchist. Let me put it that way. Yeah, but self-sufficient and very techno-savvy, again, set up a few things that are very interesting. He likes getting into debunking UFO stuff. Oh yeah. One of his big things, and he's into Aerosoft heavily. Which is cool. We know that that's you know, that's a lot of fun. Oh my Anyway, we're talking about alternative communications guys. Oh Excuse me. And if anybody has a question in the chatroom, we've been we posted the link to the Ramsey Electronics page for the kits for the FM and AM kits We've also posted link to video capture devices on sale at TigerDirect.com, I think that's right. And we've got a handfest in Pennsylvania this weekend at Pinoco. And I didn't have that information until just before the program. I would have that up on the website already for this weekend We also have a party on the beach this weekend. Yes on the 11th Uh-huh and dad hopefully we'll be back by then. Oh he should be he should be back Thursday or Friday and Mike you said you'd come out and help me with something you better show up Mike great. Oh Yes, please Yeah, so I'm hoping Mikey's listening I've got the I've got the area cleared out just about we just need a torch Yeah, I gotta give him a you gotta get back. We got a torch. Yeah, okay. It's not a problem I gotta get it. I gotta get it up there, and I need some more because I don't have the right you know well He's a big guy. We should be able to do that We're talking about its car Yeah, getting it moved. We've got there's there's a little problem and The transmission is out. It's been out for a while I drove it to where it was and it stopped Yeah, of course that was after I was told there would be a cold day in hell before I ever got that car to move and I drove it out of the out of the garage Yeah, now I gotta get it back in the garage. It's gonna be worked on. Hello Yeah Stinker but yeah, this is the yeah, I just had to show that it could be done We won't go there. At any rate, we've got to get these things squared away before the snow flies. I just want to make sure everything happens. Well, now I was talking about CB radios before he left. And guys, the best outlet I can think of for a CB radio is go down to your nearest expressway, stop at the gas station or whatever, and Hey, depending on your flavor you can get anything from a $25 CB although I don't think that's probably more than likely it'll be like $30 to $40 now on the low end because of the way the economy is. And your choice of antenna depending on how much money you can spend, you guys, you can get a pretty good CB system right there at your local truck stop. Right, for basically under $60. total between the antenna, the coax, and the transmitter receiver. But the other thing to look for is the CB shop sitter there because they will sell refurbished ones from the truckers that now have time to wait for you to fix it. The one out on I-94 at the TA, that one was hard to get to because it says it's upstairs and then you get to a point where it says no one's allowed past this point but his shop is way in the back, past all the areas where it says you're not supposed to go to. And there's no other way to get there than to go through the areas that they tell you you're not supposed to go through. Whatever. Yeah, but that's, you know, you can go there and they do trade up, trade out their old, their systems for newer, bigger, better. So in this economy, that's not happening as much, but if you're looking for a rebuilt for somebody that has upgraded, That's the place to go because those guys depend upon their radios folks as much as they do their GPS systems sometimes too much. Yeah, we've seen once again. Toodly-doo. Yeah, tootly-doo. Yeah, so instead of Toledo, the Tom Tom says tootly-doo. Yeah, tootily-doo. And turn right here and jump off the bridge. Yeah. Or the poor lady that was down the street here just last week, you know, followed this road into Dexter except that your truck won't get underneath the viaduct. Because it's too big. So yeah, it, you know, the road may go that way but that doesn't mean your big trucks, big rigs are gonna make it through. So it's, again, As far as I'm concerned, there's nothing better than a good road atlas for that year with the construction marked or areas that have been changed within the last year on that map. Mapping systems are great as long as they're up to date. Right, Ed? Yeah. And of course there's been some computer mappings that we've used that... Hey, hard... sorry, did it again. I dreamed the other night that, well, I didn't understand. A figure walked in through the mist with a flintlock in his hand. His clothes were torn and dirty as he stood there by my bed. He took off his three cornered hat and speaking low to me he said, we fought a revolution to secure our liberty. We wrote the Constitution.
