Obama is starting down the path of destroying and obsoleting American nuclear weapons, but there's no way he can abolish the weapons owned and built by the bad guys of the world. The best way to have security for the United States and peace for the rest of the world is for the United States to have nuclear superiority. That means more, better, and bigger weapons than any other country in the world. That's what kept the peace all during the years of the Cold War, and that's the only way to prevent the bad guys from threatening the rest of the world with nuclear weapons. Unfortunately, Obama is letting our nuclear deterrent rapidly deteriorate. Already, our nuclear stockpile is made up of out-of-date and deteriorating weapons. Most of our weapons are more than 30 years old. They are years beyond their design life. Some lack modern safety features. None has been fully tested since 1992. All were designed for very different deterrent requirements and are of dubious value to deter current adversaries and threats. Secretary of Defense Gates has admitted that we have a serious brain drain in the loss of veteran nuclear weapons designers and technicians. Meanwhile, Russia has embarked on an ambitious plan to design and deploy new weapons and has hot production lines for land and sea-based missiles. It is worse than foolish to destroy our own expensive nuclear missiles when countries that could be potential enemies are building more weapons every day and modernizing the weapons that they have.
