Mark Koernke discussed ammunition shortages across the country, noting that despite government claims of adequate supply, reports from California, Georgia, and Pennsylvania indicated significant scarcity and price increases. He emphasized the value of ammunition as barter currency and recommended strategic purchasing. The show then shifted to detailed discussion of night vision and thermal imaging technology, covering equipment maintenance, lens care, supplier information for training targets, and DIY thermal countermeasure suits (anti-thermal gummy suits) developed by patriot manufacturers in the 1990s. Koernke provided practical guidance on thermal evasion techniques and emphasized the importance of maintaining situational awareness when using night vision equipment.
Again, to try and downsize the activity, they have actually been quite haphazard in talking about this. We just had a couple more pieces that I got a chance to look at. We're sent to us this morning from way out west California, also another piece from Georgia, and yet another from, I think it was Eastern Pennsylvania, and all of them talking about the same subject. This is getting hard to find. Well, that's not news for anybody in the Patriot Movement. We've been telling you for years, by bullet seven, we've been telling you. That's right. In fact, for all of us, we got ours and we're making sure we get more so that when the time comes, you have the currency that you need to stay operational. The currency includes the idea you can trade in ammunition, but you trade in what it is you choose, not what, you know. necessarily is the most powerful on the market. Keep that in mind. There's a lot of ways to get around worrying about what you're marketing and selling too. So 12 gauge in any flavor will sell. 22 in any flavor will sell, trust me. So you don't have to sell your best to actually continue to live comfortably and everybody's happy. But it's important to know that in all of these stories so far, I'll tell you what's fascinating to me, Don. This isn't bad. Like we said, from the other end, they pop the numbers up. Well, 500% of the weapons used in Mexico are from the United States. Of course, that may or may not be an exaggeration because I could see them throwing that number out there and nobody going, well how can you have 500%? Anyway. You're not supposed to answer the ESCO's questions. You need to be arrested. No, I'm just asking. How do you get 500% of anything? Okay, that's it. Handcuffs now. Oh, you decided to debate me? Oh, taster time. Oh, he's still twitching. Show him. Stop resisting. Stop resisting. But that is how goofy it is people. On the one hand, they are spewing out these numbers that make no sense. It is everything from a 20% increase to a 27% increase to a little more honest about a 300% increase which is true. It depends on which report it was. So the numbers that they are trying to give out are truly arbitrary and based upon Whichever of the lying institutes they're talking to as far as what they've been told here is the number we're going to stick with. Keep it low, keep it low, keep it low. When in reality the lack of inventory and the fact that ammunition and weapons are in short supply in general demonstrates that there is a significant increase in interest. So much so that it's virtually impossible for the industry to keep up with them. And that should tell us right there. Don, you had at least a couple of articles, unfortunately. Well, not unfortunately, but as an example, they were almost a month and a half ago now, weren't they? Oh, the state police. There's not many bullets around these guys. Every time you reach in that pocket and pull the trigger, that hurts. Ow! Don't do that again. Ow! Yet again. So I would kind of remind people that this is rather interesting in and of itself, and that, hey, they were telling us before, there is no shortage. There isn't anything. They're not in short supply. Everything's fine. Go back to sleep. But the actual report, the information, the actual physical actions around the country are just reversed. Now there's pockets here and there, but my recommendation is if you've got friends in another part of the country and they're saying that they can access at a reasonable price, ammunition and you're short, and clean the shop up. And clean the envelope. More to San Francisco if they want to buy it at $50, $50, $55, $60 a box, that's fine. On the other hand, that'll pay for a whole lot of other stuff that we can keep. See how that works? A lot of this has to do with the people coming up and online and not necessarily knowing the value or looking at it that well, whatever the price is, I guess I'm going to have to pay it. I do understand that happening quite a bit. Because of the dumbing down of the population, many people are ignorant of the entire market. They're coming in and there are people who really, of course, they don't care. Their attitude is, well, if you waited this long, you kind of need to pay for your error and I can understand the attitude. It is interesting again, I want to say thank you to our friends who have been passing information on. Oh, by the way, one of our new videos, or I should say a new video, is up on our YouTube site. If you get a chance, guys, everybody listening, and no matter when you get in there, check out the new one. It's a unique training exercise, and this was with some of the younger guys. We're always cycling family members, new people in from other units. Everybody's got young adults, or they have individuals that We're working on training so that they're up to speed with their adult counterparts when the time comes. They're replacing us guys. We don't leave anybody behind or leave anybody else. This actually was a pretty decent little squad exercise. There are a number of different actions going on. A lot more video footage than just a few, well just in the 10 minutes you see there. Definitely a lot of fun. Everybody got to burn some energy. Check out some antique fighting positions on top of everything else. A little story on that later we'll explain. But a good time was had by all. So if you can, go to YouTube and then punch in the Liberty Tree Radio and the first video up. Hey, check it out. By the way, check the other videos out too. And when you can, both rate, comment. That helps us a great deal. But the new video is up and we're having a great time with that right now. By the way, a very unique Well, everything is ours. Let's put it that way. We'll explain later about that too. But check the video out, see what you think. And again, it was designed so that they got their training in. But we had a little fun. Always pay attention and read things. They're self-explanatory. Anyway, another request. And I got a whole pile of mail here, about a good 2 and 1 by 2 inches, just on the inbound here that's got to be answered. But one of the things, Don, everybody was asking about is, Not everybody, but enough. Let's put it that way. It's a mix of questions. But thermal vision and thermal technology. You deal with night vision, but what I want you to do is give out all the information, how people get a hold of you. And if you would, just kind of give us a rundown on what's out there in thermal that's available and what we're looking at price range wise. More questions on that every day coming up. Price of entry level, first you find one in the guide. Don, if you can, we'll find out. We just have to keep working at it. And if you turn the image exactly around again turning the white to black all of a sudden your mind will make sense. You hide from us and you'd laugh as you open. This is where the nomenclature gets a little, the use of the words gets a little, if you look at the brightest of the night vision and everybody that has night vision on cares the night vision off and grabs your eyes and says, oh my gosh I'm blind. I have a line of sight too, you know not too high. They're quite plain. They promise though. Actually, again, even right up to the end of the war, obviously the technology got better and the hunting was performed better. Purely because of field attrition considering the branch of service, it could have continued to expand and perform, but obviously the ground war changed the order of the battle. Real quick footnote on that. Most people don't realize the Germans' next family of U-boats was about to go to sea. Hydrogen boats. Because the end of the war was coming, the equivalent to In fact, the impetus for every modern Soviet sub that was out there, because most of the first generation and second generation subs after World War II, were all based upon German technology that was overtly available through what they captured. Yeah, and in fact in the reverse direction most people talk about the aircraft carrier submarines that are discussed. They were not as big as you might imagine, but still the biggest submarines afloat other than maybe the milch cows that the Germans built for fueling their U-boats. What's interesting is we almost handed those to the Russians under the treaties that were set up by a dying President, FDR, who was ill. He handed the house away. Nobody ever asked, I know I'm a tangent from your night vision, but here's a few cases in point. Where did the Italian Navy go after it was captured during World War II? They were all handed right over to the Russians. The entire everything the Germans captured, or Russians captured, of course, they kept two from the Germans. But under the agreement originally, the Axis fleets were to be handed, literally given over, and this includes the Japanese fleets, by the way, were to be given over to the Russians. Literally handed over. We might have fought for them. The Russians never lifted a finger. Think about what kind of BS this is. The Russians provided munitions to the Japanese all through the war, contrary to what they tried to write in their PR pieces that you see in the public fool system. At the end of the war, what they literally happened is many Japanese commanders, although typically they would have tried other things, they were ordered to surrender, so they did. They didn't lose face this way. Many of these subs were captured, and as a matter of fact, most of the subs that were captured of the largest classes were brought together by their type. and what they found out the fleet commanders found out is that uh... the ships are going to be handed over to the russians for the communists well very quiet order uh... was passed on down the line through fleet command to certain officers and the japanese uh... super subs went to the bottom scuttle There was basically confusion in orders, as they say, as one of the stories. There's all kinds of other stuff that's been tried to rewrite. I've got a few interesting write-ups on the subject here because they describe and show pictures of the ships as they were cleaned out by the US Navy. They were brought up to maintenance spec. Then they realized, wait a minute, we're doing all this work. Somebody else is going to get them. Who? Oh, no, no, no, no, no. Basically, we would have upgraded the Russians to on a par with the US with virtually everything that the Germans and the Japanese had fought with at the end of the war, which by the way, remember, despite shortages, they were actually improving on design. Well, while we're talking about submarines here, and again, this is how, you know, oh, what is that? Well, the conversation is more. I want to turn it back to a certain, and even American submarines, a similar to an of Paris. This was such a complicated machine that when it was first fielded, complicated. I think it was Pupenflushing. Unte Stubmen Pupenflushingmann. To summon the poilins if you heard it, I probably shouldn't be doing it. There's always a downside. A caveat of that is in this model. Another thing to remember too is don't become so focused on what is a minor or trivial action that you ignore your surroundings to the point where, hey look, a destroyer. I wasn't paying attention. This gets kind of down to, and again, let's go right back to even night vision or any other piece of equipment that you're using. You're so focused on a channel of activity that in many cases you may actually draw the attention of other team members. Remember, wow, you'll never believe what I'm looking at. Hey, check this out. And while you're looking at whatever that fantastic or unique object is, and it may draw the attention of, in fact, the entire team if you're not careful, you're not paying attention to your periphery, your flanks. Remember, security involves 300 and degrees. that's something that is true. It is something I've watched people. In fact, I can show you an example of this in a live fire situation that we have on video. I'm going to have to point this out. I won't do it today because we want to cut. I think we might have a caller or two here backed up. We'll wait and see. I'll give you a second. People become so fixated on a problem with their weapon. This happens no matter how experienced you are. The one guy in the picture is combat veteran. And we started to get frustrated because it was an AR-15, the thing was malfunctioning. It was from the Colt days when the Colt's that were coming out, everybody had been using them, we were using them and we had Colt malfunctions left and right with the Colt AR-15s because of the factory strike that lasted about two years. And in this case we caught it on film. He actually had one malfunction, clears it, does all the immediate action. It brings it back up and online. A few more rounds and it malfunctions again. He gets to the point where he's actually so focused on the weapon he's not thinking about immediate action. Also means drop down, take cover, perform the action on the weapon and then return. Again, return to the battle, get back up into the action, whatever. In this case, he's actually exposed. He initially is doing everything correctly, but there's a frustration point and it becomes a distraction. Always remember this, don't let a small action distract you from the overall environment. Night vision works the same way. This is why I'd rather have everybody with some night vision than one person because people will try to share. You know how that works, Tom, especially if you have a monocular. It's like, no, look over there. You can actually tie up and distract. It's not distracting in a bad way if it is a threat, but still, chances are you don't have just one threat in front of you. That's the one you can see. What about the other nine you didn't? Including that one to the left that's approaching now. Like the U-boat, the submarine, and the, you know, slash submarine and the destroyer. Oh, look at that! I wonder where that came from. Ah, Otto, I think we have a shy stone, yeah? Yeah, we have the tote. Yeah, we're told. Yeah, flush the toilet, and I think we can flush the boat too. Well, anyway, real quick here, now, let's check and see. Do we have a caller? Do we have anybody waiting? Yeah, just hopefully. I have some patient people, that's good. Anyway, other elements to consider with night vision too here guys again is basic maintenance to include lens cleaning, protecting and covering the equipment. This is something that people sometimes are so distracted by activity they forget that that little dot you keep trying to focus on. Well as we know Don, it might not be anything out in front of you, it could be something just as far as the end of the lens, right? You're right, you're right, this is true. Again, three lens it's worth it, you know being called the lens these days has coatings on it These are going to be affected by drawing things across them and you don't want to just you know Much like the general standing in the field takes reaching sound and brings that other lens and brings it up and now we squinting even more Well what you've done when you can go down to the low you can pretty much walk across and if you have some hard on your lens like Gee, I didn't look up and you're you've never been a photographer in your life. I'm Well, we may do that later. We're right now looking at building our own out for obvious reasons, but that doesn't mean it isn't on the list of things to do that have not carried away. Actually, Don, Mark, real quick. There is a type of canned air that you can refill, but you're using that air compressor to do it. Just like the little Coleman one-pound propane pigs, the little one-pound air tanks for your welding torch. you can use the same nozzle to refill the propane tanks as you can. You can use it also on the air to refill the air tank with the air compressor. Most of the cans of air that you got, Don, that you're talking about, same way it's packed. It's just there's a more of a CO2 propellant in there, which is another reason why you actually do get some beating or moisture, what looks like a chemical wash on your lens, which is something else you probably haven't When you get lower on the can you can see it come out. So that's something else. I'm not too keen on using cans of air to actually clean optics and that's something you probably want to look into too because every now and again some come out dirty and you get a chemical wash. What looks like a chemical wash on your lens and it can affect it. Excuse me. I know we are at the top of the hour by the way. Well, I'll tell you what, we have a lot of things we need to take care of with regard to night vision. I've got a lot of requests here in the process of… Your clock in there, your atomic, it hasn't reset yet by the radio signal. It's only 5.55, so we're not quite there yet. We have more time than I thought very good. We've got time to spend a few more moments on this then. Real quick, with regard to suppliers, I want to say thank you to the guys. in the chat room. They've got slow fire targets. These are the Silhouette targets. 25 meter scale measuring 17.5 by 22 inches. U.S. military issue, new printed on both sides. 10 cents a piece minimum you got to buy a minimum of 20. So $2 worth of targets means that what you do is you have the actual scale that you need. If you wanted to you could go out and I guess photocopying but I don't think you can make a 17.5 by 22 photocopy for 10 cents. Probably not. So for 10 cents they're printing the they've already printed the targets up they're obviously on the white you know bulk paper stock everybody's familiar with for targets. But this gives you the proper range for airsoft training. I'm not going to worry about forward slice. What you do is go in there and then go to Products. By the way, when you go to Products, it is the second item down. Slow Fire Targets, $0.10 a piece. They do have sleeping bags. They have sandbags in the newer material for $0.50 a piece, unused, of course. They also have Olive Drab Burlap for $0.99 a piece. Go to the cheapy shiny ones if you need a lot of them. Other than that, there's a mix. You'll have to go through and see what it is that appeals to you. The targets, that's a solution for a lot of people who have been asking that question. One other thing here too, Don, as far as getting hold of you, if there's something you don't have information on, you'll get hold of whatever anybody needs for night vision equipment, correct? Yes, I can, with depth, it's not just me answering the questions, I can go to manufacturers. With depth, I can pretty much answer your questions. One of the other things that we had a question about this morning was the anti-thermal gummy suits that were generated by several of our Patriot manufacturers back in the 90s. Now guys, we tested these with the state-of-the-art equipment. They worked flawlessly. They worked exceptionally well. The only thing was the Mark 1s were a little unique. We kind of jokingly called them the gummy suit because of the way they were set up, but they worked. They actually did do what they were supposed to. As far as for tactical motion, there would be issues, but for traveling, they would work just fine. I'll bet you look like a cross between Gumby and a dialect from Dr. Who. Now, the Mark IIs were a different design and still accommodated the same basic components for there. One of the things that the covering actually did was negate the, actually covered the backpack. It gave it the same protection as all the rest of your gear, so you could put the entire unit over top of all of your equipment and then shed it as need be. Which of course also critical was loose, but it was based on the heavier type thermal blankets that have the camouflage or OD green coloring on one side. They have a striated nylon core and of course are the typical foil and mylar reflector type blankets. Now, this is an idea that, again, if all else fails, you can take a standard blanket type, a heavier gauge thermal blanket like this with a camouflage on it. Ladies, if you want to cannibalize one of them, you can make a multiple number of hoods for all the rest that you purchase and actually come up with a poncho system that could just lace onto an existing military poncho for deployment. This would be a very simple solution and makes it easy to deploy without any complications. You just put it over everything you've got on, covers the entire body, covers the head, can cover the face. I would make a face shield for it that goes over it. Reference, kind of like what you saw with Dune with the still suits. There, that will be fun. You have to do some sci-fi work. But the point is that you actually cover the face, cover the forehead and the eyes to a degree that could be shaded or shielded. One of the things to think about is making a brim so that it actually goes over and extends beyond the eyes in the same material. Remember, unless you're looking straight at the person, that's right. You're not going to get a thermal burn off that. And with the newer goggles, remember they're designed to offer some IR and thermal protection. So, you could even go that direction. But I would recommend thinking about either building, doing what's like the old gambler's caps, gambler's bills, that can be just put on with a strap in the back, then the hood is put on, and that way you cover from above, so there's no thermal bleed from an angle, from a tangent that's looking straight on. Remember, if you suspect that you're being observed, the basic rule, don't look up. Those two little hot orbs, the eyeballs and the other areas where you have core temperature that's coming from it on a regular basis, what you do is don't offer that carton off of that silhouette area. Anyway, I hear the music and we are at the top of the hour for everybody listening. Night vision, it is another area that we need to complete the issue of procurement.
