Summary
Mark Koernke discussed alternative heating and energy independence solutions, focusing on corn burners and wood-burning stoves as cost-effective alternatives to conventional heating systems. He interviewed caller Bill about Amish-made wood-fired water heaters from Lehman Brothers, comparing their efficiency and affordability to electric and gas systems. The show covered preparedness topics including the Hutaree militia exercise scheduled for September 27-28 in Michigan, with detailed information on required equipment (gas masks, helmets, ammunition, load-bearing gear), and provided vendor contacts for military surplus equipment. Koernke also promoted the Knob Creek Gun Shoot event and solicited donations for the Micro Effect Network.

Please know I'm much harder I know you'd have wanted us to stay And it breaks my to think that just your gravestone Is all I'll leave in Dixie. A figure walked in through the mist with a flintlock in his hand. His clothes were torn and dirty as he stood there by my bed. He took off his three-cornered hat, and speaking low to me, he said, we've fought a revolution to secure our liberty. We wrote the Constitution as a shield from tyranny. For future generations, this legacy we gave. In this, the land of the free and home of the brave. Freedoms we secured for you we hoped you'd always keep. But tyrants labored endlessly while your parents were asleep. Your freedom's gone, your courage lost, you're no more than a slave. In this, the land of the free and home of the brave. You buy permits to travel and permits to own a gun. Permits to start a business or to build a place for one. On land that you believe you own, you pay a yearly rent. Although you have no voice in saying how the money's spent. Your children must attend a school that doesn't educate. And your Christian values can't be taught according to the state. You read about the current news in a regulated press and you pay a tax you do not owe to please the IRS. Your money is no longer made of silver nor of gold. You trade your wealth for paper so your life can be controlled. You pay for crimes that make our nation turn from God and shame. You've taken Satan's number and traded in your name. You've given government control to those who do you harm so they could burn down churches and seize the family farm and keep our country deep in debt. Put men of God in jail. Harash your fellow countrymen while corrupted courts prevail. Your public servants don't uphold the solemn oaths they've sworn. And your daughters visit doctors so their children will be put. Your leaders send artillery. and guns to foreign shores, and send your sons to slaughter fighting other people's wars. Can you regain the freedoms for which we fought and died? Or don't you have the courage or the faith to stand with pride? And are there no more values for which you'll fight to save? Or do you wish your children to live in fear and be a slave? Oh, sons of the Republic, arise. Take a stand. Defend the Constitution, the supreme law of the land. Preserve our great Republican each God given right and pray to God to torture freedom as I awoke he'd vanished in the mist for once he came His words were true But we have ourselves to blame for even now as parents trampled each God given right We only watch and tremble too afraid to stand and fight if he stood by your bedside to dream while you were asleep and Wondered what remains of the freedoms he'd fought to keep what would be your answer? he called out from the grave. usually get a whole month of August. It will be crinkly dry. Oh my goodness, don't let a manta. You'll set the whole field on fire kind of weather, but we didn't get that. Everything is moist. So that tells me, again, that's some of those flags that cool in. These here, good for the plants. Last part of the growing season is going to be fantastic. We're going to see a whole bunch of the last of the berries coming at the end of the season. Next comes the horrible deep winter, which we're going to have. And I really do believe this because The plants and the animals are telling us now the animals are already flocking like the birds and collecting the larger numbers. It's expected this time of year but they're knowing something that everybody else is not paying any. But you all ought to. So maintenance on it like I do? Oh, that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what that's them, it's not all of them. The metal needs to be cleaned up, it needs to be rewarded with a new paint job, etc. Pretty darn good for running that many years and heating the house here with sticks, heating the burns, it goes in the fireplace to heat the house. Now on the other end of the house, I want to mention this, the wood burner is, which we've used for a while. We have a corn burner. Well, corn's gone up in price. Well, gasoline's gone up in price, guys. Diesel's gone up in price, et cetera. Go ahead and down the shopping list. Everything's gone up in price anyway. So corn has really proportionally has not gone up as much as all of the other products. Corn is still cheaper per bushel than, say, a gallon of oil, a gallon of diesel, a gallon of heating oil, or a gallon of propane. It's more efficient. Now, let me give you an example. Even if I spend about $5 a day, on a bushel of corn. Let's say five dollars and some odd cents for a bushel of corn. That's really what I spent. The wood burning stove that I have, well, we keep it going on occasion and it heat, generates heat at one end. However, the corn burner by itself can actually freestanding over in the corner the size of a Franklin stove. A little bigger, a little deeper, but a little deeper than a Franklin stove, these corn burners will heat the entire house. Comfortable temperatures, purely how much corn you want to burn. We've calibrated the one we have. burn about a little under or about a 24 hour period. For a bond, now you figured out, if that was $5, it's basically what we heat wise to heat the house. The wood burner makes it that much more snugly, plus we use the wood burner in the kitchen. We're going to do other fun stuff with that too. That helps to moisturize the whole building so it doesn't dry out and etc. And you know, you make it a little more comfortable. of course we get the heat off it obviously and we're using up all of our junk that would build up otherwise with regard to things that can burn in the fireplace that won't burn in the corn burner. Now what is a corn burner? All it is is a small toy mimic of a cold burning, somebody looked at a cold burning power plant probably when they were young and said, can we do that with other stuff in a house? And somebody finally took a few parts, put them together. The only part they really had to make was the auger. There is a spiraling auger that is much like a moving coal slurry. What it is is basically built into a flat surface on the top of the stove. You pour your corn in the hopper. It's obviously angled like a big mobile corn bin like you've seen them before. They usually are just very straight forward. They've got a really interesting dump point. The little auger opener is uphill on a 45 degree angle where at the end of that auger the corn is dropped down. It's a little fire pot. It's about the size of two coffee cups, two big round mugs about say four inches across, deep, a little less than probably about, Mark's going to get this right, about six inches, not even that five inches I would say deep, but the most. Okay, five inches. What happens is you start up, you start the corn up, you take a little bit of corn, get it in there, take a little bit of fire, they've got these little sticks you use for your, you light it. That's the corn going. Now the corn starts to burn. And in the fire chamber, the rest of the fire chamber is just simply for moving air, guys. There's a couple of pipes that come in in the fire chamber, just like in a coal furnace. It's the air, which is the convection system. This is how it works. The heat runs through around the pipes. It gets heated up in the process. Very simple. Now, the neat thing about this, that when you're done with a bushel of coal, I guess I'll add one more thing. There's a thermostat that determines, and a regulator, that determines how many kernels. how many kernels of corn you add to the fire pot. And that's all that you're doing. You're doing two or three kernels of corn added at a time, just very slowly. Drop into the fire pot. They drop onto the existing smoldering slash burning corn. And it's consumed. But it's not just consumed a little. This is really a fine, fine, fine ash and an excellent process. This corn plasma, if you want to call it that, literally will consume itself down to the point where you basically have a waste product that is a corn that is the size of two hockey pucks sitting on top of the other. Yeah, that's right. Two hockey pucks, that's it. You take a fork, if you do it right, because remember how deep the heat chamber is, you can take a fork, or there's a tool that they have to take out what's called the clinker. You drop that into an ash bucket the size of, say, a cereal bowl. metal of course and you can still have the corn burner running. You don't lose your heat in the corn and continue the cycle even as you've cleaned the fireplace, even as you've cleaned the corn burning stove. So that's how simple it is. It's ridiculous. Now the only thing that wears out over a seven year period for maintenance, for a seven year period only two things that have worn out is one, there's heat because there's heat transferred, not much but a little bit, transferred to where the motor is. is actually a barbecue type motor, a very heavy gauge barbecue heat. One like using the savory toaster ovens that you see at the different restaurants where you have the chain fed toaster that runs this thing here. That is that it's designed to take heat. They didn't reinvent the wheel here. They did exactly what I would like to have argued for years. Look in the industry, find the stuff that's already in production, find the items that are the most common and in production in many areas, and use those to make what you need. But that unit only one time in seven years and that was last year guys. Seven years, around eight, this corner changed that motor. Constantly running, finally has tired out a little bit. So what I'm going to do this year is I'll be replacing the old one out because it's still sold. But what I am going to do is take the old auger, clean it up. I'm going to grease it top to bottom. I'm going to put it in a bag and I'm going to put it in the spare parts kit for the corn burning stove. Now I've got a backup. If something ever were to happen to lifetime before it died and it's already paid for itself how many times over. Now these stoves are so simple it's ridiculous, but here's the point, you can run cherry pits through them. Oh, cherry pits? Yeah, up here in Michigan we have cherry pits. You can get all the cherry pits for free by the semi-load. That is not an exaggeration. It costs you more to move them than it does to buy them. Ain't no buy them, they'll just give them to you. Now, the other option are wood pellets, which everybody's seeing. Now they work a little differently, and as far as efficiency and burn, we've never used them. We've always used the corn. Now here's the reason we've used the corn. I believe in supporting the people that are going to be able to buy my corn right from the mange. And I don't care if I was going to pay market price, why go through two or three parties one way when I can go right to the man who grew it and I'll give him the money so for a change he can buy his family something. See how that works? And all you need to be thinking that way. Well you should give it to us for even less. Actually they almost always do give you a better price. But the point is that even if they just gave you what was the market price, well guys, it's the little person out there just like you that for a change is benefiting by being innovative and getting the job done. You're getting the corn, we have the corn burners, usually we have a company here called Penn Acres that are providing us with everything. I mean we buy it, but the point is that they could do everything. They have their own little shop, but it's a farm shop. Everything they do stems from their farming industry. big farmers. They've been doing this for years. It's a family farm. You've got dads and sons and you've got grandsons coming up, much little guys that are there right now. And they're learning about the job and how to do it. It's an exciting situation where we're helping Americans. It's not going overseas. The stuff is staying right here. Designs are quite varied. Now the design we have is actually one of the oldest. What's cool is this. You can use it like we do. The corn burner at one place, we do that in the living room. The wood-burning stove, I hate to say it, but I like it. They won't do that. You know what? They also aren't there to heat the house through the year, are they? They're great for putting all these restrictions and taking your money for nothing will never get any benefit from the insurance company. They will defect now everything in their power to wiggle out of what you have paid and paid and paid and paid for. So what did you save? You're worrying and gnashing of teeth and chewing on your toenails and your fingernails about, oh, appeasing them. Turns out they don't give a hoot about you and your house. They don't care about the money you have to spend. In fact, they want you to spend more on them. Guess what? You did. And with no benefit. So what a racket that is. And it's a sad state of mind and a sad frame of mind that they put everything in where everybody's getting it. And again, they help to promote it with the lawyers, by the way. That's why. So this is all a scam. It's guaranteed money income. They can't wait to keep you down. And that is true, to keep you, keep the energy down on you because frivolous mechanism, real benefit. You have a caller, Mark. That's money you would have spent. I'll tell you what we have. A caller bill. Jump in there. You got me going when you're talking about wood heating. I just wanted to point out something that I don't know if I've ever heard you mention. And I'm not a promote anybody specifically, but Leamons, I don't know if you've heard of them, electric items, they make a hot-water heater. I know that probably some of your listeners have heard of these before, and there was some bad ones out there too. I actually had one. But they make an Amish made hot-water heater. This thing looks like a, not quite a 33 gallon, it lays on its side. Some way up here is one way to really save if you can not your hot water bill. This thing, you can take a shower on a bag of garbage. You know, paper and such, not cans or nothing. But I just thought it was the neatest idea and with the economy and the way it is, all the way to knock out a bill. Actually too full because you don't have to go to the junk in much either if you can burn a lot of your 15 gallons water tank holds with water to get that warm. you can do dishes, anything other than maybe to run the water pump. Now go ahead, do you have Lehman Brothers information on hand there? Yeah. Go ahead and give it out over the air please. The item that I have, 26, 845, hot water system based on the internet I believe, even though I'm not computer. The thing runs just about 600 bucks. It wasn't quite that much when I got it a few years ago, but I've been using it for the last three, four years. If you figure out what an electric built on your hot water tank, I did, it's often and after that it pays you. I think it's marvelous. As long as you are somewhat scanning of how wood stoves and everything, this thing is really quite easy to run. It produced water. My wife and I have a veneer. She's lit it. There's garbage in there. That, maybe one stick of wood that more people haven't caught up. Maybe nobody's taught. And when they do, they're probably trying to make them take it off the mark. And the gauge steel it's made out of, too. It's pretty good. Steats, I think, is what it is. They used to have some water heaters that stood upright right around Y2K and I had got a place out west that they didn't really make them hefty enough. If things got out of hand and you over fired it a little bit, it'd take too long and you were busy welding. This one here is very realistic. It doesn't have a temperature to hook it up. Hooked up as it's in Paris, somebody's thick or we don't have any garbage or we're in a hurry or something, we can just use the regular hot water heater by just turning off some water valves to the one and through the other. The cool thing about this too the Amish don't do it, they don't re-buy over and over again. Another thing real quick, figure the outlay on a regular water heater. That's part of the normal outlay. When you buy a water heater of any kind, you automatically figure that expense in. So the benefit right away is the idea that the fuel, that if you were to keep that other gas heater on, has to heat. So that's where your expense comes in. Whereas on the other hand, you're using with the system, an on-time concept where as you heat it and then done, you're done. That's what I kind of liked about it. You just abuse the sun, doesn't have to shine. I do have some hot water here, but we use for hot water. The only thing on this one, the key with any wood burning appliance, you've got to keep the chimney clean because sometimes some people may know that they're listening out there. If you do slip a little plastic in, make sure that that chimney is clean. I usually have to get up once a month and seem to need it. Other times, I kind of just keep that in the back of my mind. Other than that, like I say, I guess you were talking about corn stoves. to a seminar that one of the kind about that and I guess the thing that kind of got me here and like I say with the economy pond on somebody else and at least with this or even just a wood burning appliance you with your own wood either from a neighbor or if you got your own wood lot you can even get one of those newspaper rollers and start collecting papers from other people and a lot of people don't really realize what they're throwing out there's some pretty a guy in a long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long I just thought I'd mention that in a box on there, but a lot of times they give you free boxes for your groceries. I'll take all they'll give me, and then I just bring them home and hey, there's some free hot water. So tied in with this too, I would point out, when we talk about using the corn burner and using the other technology, what works in your air well types, the simplest and easiest they've modern. What's happened is we've blended modern metallurgy, better technology, as far as the steel goes in some cases, with ideas that the wood burning water stove, different types, the different types, heaters. Those of course over decades if not a couple well almost a couple hundred years in one form or another but again the price of metal the types of metals available varied and so that determined but now I mean we can work with all kinds of differences. As far as the thermostat goes real quick as you know what could do is an inline thermostat and companies they'll have an inline thermostat actually put right on the line. The engage system for anybody who's wondering about that thing oh that's real hard no it's not all you do is you get an inline Most of the stuff you see in Europe is built like this, where even though you may have a thermostat wall, you'll have, especially with water heat, you need it anyway, you'll have a right in with a line, you'll have to thread, it'll be threaded stock, right in line with and get gauge reading. Very easy, a very dial-up system, very easy to read, just like you see in a small-scale version. Like you see in the movies, oh, the pressure gauge is going through the roof. Well, my first tank had, like I said, a thermostat on it. But this one here, you begin to realize it's about a warm one to the touch because you can touch the outside of this. I mean, it's not dangerous to have alcohol except for the smoke coming out the back. But I mean, the tank itself doesn't really get that warm and you can feel the side and when it orders down the side, you yell up and say it's time for shopping. Try to forget on that too. That's another thing. Lehman Brothers, not just one company, but Lehman Brothers has the best price for stainless steel pipe for your in-house pipe along with your are Wait a minute, you mean the high C cans that I saved up and riveted together isn't good enough? Well, if you want to work on your mumps, or maybe for a while. Well, I took one, two, three, four. I'm looking at her right here. There's only seven high C cans that get to the main chimney. Yeah, but at least another serious note, though, too, I know in some areas they seem to want to regulations. I know they, even though I live in a little town here, 500, they actually passed a law where they didn't want people having anything outside in the way of a wood still. How about your guys or not? Well, that's people coming from other parts of the country and alien invaders dropping into your territory. Say what your favorite. We are, if you can. It's out here. We still have a bill there? Yeah. Bill, give out Lehman Brothers number a couple more times, please. Okay, the item number I'm talking about in their catalog, 6-845. That's exactly what we need. Go right ahead and give it out. The phone needs a phone. Yes, Micro Effect needs more sponsors. So everybody listening, does this sound like it's a unique bargaining tool? Yes it is. Call for that number. Say hi. I heard about the water heater on the Micro Effect Network. You have them. We're at Micro Effect Network and up they might go, hmm, hey these guys have a lot of people listening. That's a way to let people know that we're out here and so letting other people know who may not be up to speed on what all we're doing in independent broadcasting. It gets the job done. So give that number out one more time. Also because we need the water heaters, you know. How big is the fire pot down below? How big is the wood station? 2.4 cubic foot fire pot. And again, one of the things you were talking about before, I know the ones that were promoted before were called Mexican water heaters because they were upright. They were designed to take, you know, sticks about 6 to 8 inches. The fire box of course was straight up, was direct lander, and it was a chimney type system. small didn't take up a whole lot of space for what they were. Not that this heater doesn't sound like it takes up that much space either, so that's a good thing, but water heaters on an average have a how many gallon tank and a how large. Go down to your basement, take a look at the one you got in the house right now. If it's comparable in size, though it may be different in configuration. Size, usually normal hot water for 30, 40 gallons, but higher temperature with them, and so you don't need to turn it on as hot. With Asian plumbing, go with what is an inlet heating system to give you a real warm shower as they go and you're pretty well bring the wall like this which is why even if you do have an efficient system like the ones that came out of Mexico, the materials typically were the problem. The Amish, whenever you use the word Amish and it's attached to something that's really built by them and for them, they don't like to mess around and they don't want to have to be replacing things every so many days. They go with effective. Sometimes it isn't pretty. That's the only thing about the Amish is they're old school. I could have it up a little bit. Okay, well, it satisfies that to a degree, but it creates other problems with regard to maintenance and special operations. And still, people have both, and I'm not going to argue with them. If they got half it that way, that's understandable. So there is a solution there, but this is a neat idea because it keeps everything contained in where you can use it. It's accessible without having to leave the property, leave the house, you know, and always go outside. And during the winter, that's kind of a critical issue. Yeah, you don't want to. But yeah, you just touched on something else and actually you kind of did in another show about the insurance companies and I think they're the reason for some of this outsizing. If people would just take a little time and think about things, there isn't really that much of a chimney inspected and keep it clean and then go from there. But these insurance companies, and if we didn't have to have car insurance, I don't really have any insurance. Well, that's just it. What it is, it would be nice if you had a business and you could have somebody go out with a gun and put it on somebody's head and demand money, wouldn't it? I mean, we shouldn't do that. The insurance companies have a guaranteed hack racket going problem and they were targeted. Part of the way to manipulate the population into certain social situations. And for my looking for myself, and up here, a lot of times if you can make money, a lot of times people will ride around and they'll see that and maybe they'll send somebody over to see what you're doing. Then they'll see if they can do it better and all of a sudden your pie has been cut and at least with water, it's hard for them to take that from you. Well even there, you know like in Europe, now most people who are soldiers remember this when they were in Europe, in the morning, see in Germany for instance you can't cut from a tree. Their job usually was taking care of herself. Go out with a bundle and pick up any stick and piece of wood that hit the ground and that's what they heated their homes with. If you're a little wood burner, think about it. With sticks, twigs, debris without even touching. You can actually keep your water heater running for how long? I mean indefinitely. And the mentality whether it's in Germany or here is still the same. I mean you're cleaning them. It depends on how much you would use them. You don't need a lot. I was fighting with this squirrel for this one stick for half an hour. This squirrel was a bugger. But I got this stick and now I can hit the wood. And I got this squirrel. We cook him on the salt weather. But anyways, I thought I just called you got me going today on that and I've never called before. I've got to give them a call on this one, I can't resist. I appreciate that, thank you. Give a few at one more time, give the number out for everybody. Okay, Leemons is 1-8 and that's item number 2-6 and they have them listed here 599. Now let me add something else. Obviously everybody knows shipping has gone through the roof. What I did is I had them ship it. That helped me save some and you might consider that because from here I had to drive to Grayling so that was a hundred miles. Well, again, that's you're saving the freight. You're saving the freight, which is how we used to do things. I mean, actually, you're, this has been cut off. We know the economy is for itself. The bottom line is you'd have to buy a water heater at some point. Water heater is a guaranteed outlay. Go to the store and find out what a higher water heater, electric or gas cost. I'm not impressed with the things that bothered me just about the technology. In television it was from 1965. The original as you saw it commercially ventured, you know, sent out the one things that they technology like that today. They couldn't afford to touch on TVs anymore because remind everybody the micro effect network. We'll be living in it to a degree so that you know how to use it. That doesn't mean every minute. You will. Okay, that is how it's going to work. Now, if you need a gas mask, here's the places to go. Get your pen and paper. And if you need gas masks, which you should have on the shelf anyway, guys, there are so many ways you can use masks. I had a bad refrigerator, I had to go bad, and you didn't know about it, and all of a sudden you open the door and go, well, when that happens, guess what? Over to your shelf, you take one of your used gas masks or one of your utility work that you bought off the shelf put the filter in it and the seals and guess what you can go in there and work on that nasty terrible freezer or whatever you got to work on and you won't smell the gas mask most of what you smell is a fluvia off of the waste and debris that's in place there all that's right so this is a solution also to keep you healthy because it's not a good idea that you be breathing whatever is in that freezer refrigerator that went bad like that if the whole machine's rotten to save you from a lot of pain and danger.
