Mark Koernke and medical expert Mike Nester discussed preparedness and medical topics on Friday, May 9, 2008. The show covered hydration and heat-related illness prevention for militia range operations and training activities across Michigan and Ohio, including discussions of water-carrying protocols and canteen inspection procedures. Caller Bill from Texas engaged in an extended technical discussion about historical and modern air rifle designs, pneumatic weapons systems, and alternative ammunition technologies, including comparisons to black powder firearms and paintball gun modifications. The second hour shifted to medical education, with Nester providing detailed instruction on cholera symptoms, diagnosis, and treatment protocols, followed by guidance on treating canine diarrhea and drowning emergencies in dogs.
I had a dream the other night that, well, I didn't understand. A figure walked in through the mist with a flintlock in his hand. His clothes were torn and dirty as he stood there by my bed. He took off his three-cornered hat and, speaking low to me, said, We've fought a revolution to secure our liberty. We wrote the Constitution as a shield from tyranny. For future generations, this legacy we gave. In this, the land of the free. and home of the brave. The freedoms we secured for you we hoped you'd always keep. The tyrants labored endlessly while your parents were asleep. Your freedom's gone, your courage lost, you're no more than a slave. Invist the land of the free and home of the brave. You buy permits to travel and permits to own a gun. Permits to start a business or to build a place for one. On land that you believe you own, you pay a yearly rent. Although you have no voice in saying how the money's spent, your children must attend a school that doesn't educate, and your Christian values can't be taught according to the state. You read about the current news in a regulated press, and you pay a tax you do not owe to please the IRS. Your money is no longer made of silver nor of gold. You trade your wealth for paper so your life can be controlled. You pay for crimes that make our nation turn from God and shame. You've taken Satan's number. You've traded in your name. You've given government control to those who do you harm so they could burn down churches and seize the family farm and keep our country deep in debt. Put men of God in jail. Harash your fellow countrymen while corrupted courts prevail. Your public servants don't uphold the solemn oaths they've sworn. and your daughters visit doctors so their children will be born. Your leaders send artillery and guns to foreign shores and send your sons to slaughter fighting other people's wars. Can you regain the freedoms for which we fought and died? Or don't you have the courage or the faith to stand with pride? And are there no more values for which you will fight to save? Or do you wish your children to live in fear and be a slave? Oh, sons of the Republic, arise. Take a stand. Defend the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the land. Preserve our great Republic in each God-given right. And pray to God to keep the torch of freedom bright. As Iowoki vanished in the midst for whence he came. His words were true. We are not free, but we have ourselves to blame. For even now as tyrants trample each God given right we only watching tremble to afraid to stand and fight If he stood by your bedside in a dream while you were asleep and wondered what remains of the freedoms he fought to keep What would be your answer if he called out from the grave? Dill the land of the gentlemen this is the second hour of the afternoon intelligence report. Hi mark corny, but I'm Michael Messer One day closer to victory for all of our brothers and sisters both on and behind the lines in occupied territories East, South, West, We the People Radio Network at WTPN.com that's We the People Radio Network. We're also on Liberty Tree Radio dot 4MG dot com and stations and alternate technologies East and West of the Mississippi. End of the week. Of course, we've got Mike Nester here with us, going to be covering medical subjects, finish up what we didn't complete yesterday. It is a beautiful Friday here for us here in Michigan. Things are getting green. We have a little bit of moisture well on and off through the week. Not enough to ruin everything, but enough just we've got some ancient Edelweiss. They've been, you know, culled us well enough that they defeated it. So many of our, they're up and in bloom from the cool weather. And that's one of them. Boom, it's Michigan. Holland, Michigan this time of year is a beautiful place to go visit. We had a lot of work this week. I touched on it when we closed the last hour, but we got range work going on and also range reconnaissance going on for new facilities across the state of Michigan and in central Ohio. Everybody pay attention, be careful there. We're going to be mapping out and also doing a little surveying for some of the new live fire ranges and for training sites. Well, this is going to be fun. We've got some construction projects with to quartering they're going to be in motion so again the construction crews remember you got a straw boss pay attention stay focused the guy that's put in charge is the man who also have the anti armor book real quick before we go any farther want to make sure everybody understands the militia anti armor book dumb with a 28th mech company uh it's a compilation of armor basics how to knock them out how to hunt the dinosaurs and how to put them out of their misery okay so for all of you that are listening if you would like a copy of the anti armor manual uh... simple pamphlet the slash class booklet it's designed so it can be self-taught or you can use it for classroom instruction i'm sending some of these healthy omega for the next uh... session that they're going to be having out west of the mississippi have a couple other manuals completed that particular instruction group soon but the anti-army man armor armor manual is as a donation forty one-cent stamps and the four dollars for each manual plus the stamps as a donation to p b n P.O. Box 194, Dexter, Michigan 48130. Again, that's PBN. P.O. Box 194, Dexter, Michigan 48130. And if you want to do that as a checker money order, you make it out to Nancy. Last name is K.O.E.R.N.K.E. That's Nancy K.O.E.R.N.K.E. have other works that are in place but I just want to make sure the anti-armor manual if you want a copy of it $4 plus four 41 cent stamps cost for shipping purely goes up and down depending where you are so I'm just going four stamps figure that's part of the donation if we have a few pennies left over usually we don't anybody who's gotten instruction material in the last several months knows you get a whole lot more than just whatever it is you asked for anyway they're goodies if I have stuff laying around and we have things that are that are stacked up on the shelf, they don't do any good stacked up on the shelf. They need to be out in your hands. Now, one of the things I have been sending out to everybody are copies of the Emerson Review. If you get a copy of the Emerson Review and you like reading it, you're going to go to the back, you'll find the information on land patents, the information on copywriting for sovereignty issue with regard to the straw man, and the Emerson Review, if you do have a copy of it, don't let it just sit on the shelf and go brown. If you got somebody you're trying to teach, give that paper to that person and tell them, hey, pass it on to the next, and the next, and the next, and the next. But make a point of reading it, and if you can, get a copy for yourself as a subscription. That is the most important thing. You can get the Emerson review for $52 a year. And forgive me even as I bring it up, now all of a sudden I'm looking for the Emerson to make sure I get the address right. There we go. I got it in my hand. For those of you who would like a subscription to the Emerson Review, but better still, let's say you've got a student you're trying to teach. What better way to teach them than to have a tool that shows up every week in the mail without you having to do anything? If you have a friend like in Alaska, I just sent a whole bunch of these to Alaska. I just sent a whole bunch to Washington State, quite a ways away from where we are here. In fact, everybody listening, if you've had a package come in, you have to acknowledge you've got an Emerson Review. If you go to the very back page, you will find it's $52 for a one-year subscription. That's 52 copies delivered anywhere in the country, and that's pretty good for a newspaper. Emerson's review. A-E-M-E-R-S-O-N apostrophe S, review PO Box 376. Michigan, 9-7-3-3. One more time. That's Emerson's review. PO Box 376. Frederick, R-E-D-E-R-I-C. Michigan, and that person will receive that paper once a week, two weeks in a row. You want to call the Emerson Review, get your pan and paper. Here's the number, 989-344-9950. One more time, that's 989-344-9950, and that's G.A. Emerson, A. 1-2-K.com. Okay? Anyway, other technical information. Anything and everything that we can get out, Mike, is we need to spread around, but we're also working on medical support. So we got some people support to take care of. We're looking at the wet, damp weather right now. We got bugs to be concerned with. We also are looking at some warm weather here and there, so we're looking at heat prostration, heat exhaustion, dehydration. We want to take care of those things, don't we? Oh absolutely. I've got to always remember it's the prevention. If you're going to be outside doing that range work, you need to pre-hydrate before you get out there. Take some of these electrolyte placement juices, you know Gatorade, Powerade, things like that. Drink some of that and have some water frequently. One of the easiest ways though, if you could tell if you're starting to get dehydrated, is to watch your urine output. The light yellow to clear, you're doing okay. getting darker and darker, turning amber and smelling real, then you know you're starting to get dehydrated and you need to... When the fluids back in that you're otherwise sweating out of your system, you just didn't realize it was. This is really a problem when you're down in the desert areas because you can actually be dehydrating while feeling quite comfortable. Because what happens is, as you sweat, depending on how dry the environment, if there's no humidity, The moisture is pulled off your body almost as quickly as you sweat. So I kind of joke you could actually be walking along. It's not a joke, but it is a joke. You know, walking along dying and not even realize it. I want to prevent that. Used to be the basic rule out West is you always carry water with you. But that should be true no matter where you go. It's policy among militia units. If you have canteens, they aren't there to look pretty. The job of the fire team leader and the squad leader to do an inspection of all water carrying devices. If something is not filled, you do not move, you do not leave until all sounds rather harsh. Well, it slows things up. Well, guess what? First of all, it shouldn't be slowed up at all. Every man in that team had the ability to fill their canteens when they were all getting ready to organize and get to formation. Now they get to a location and you realize, ting, ting, ting, you tap in the can. And by the way, that's what I do when I inspect. I tap the canteens because you tell by pitch, boom, boom, boom, or pink, pink, pink. Well guess what, I hear pink pink, it's well I got two other ones, no. All the canteens will be filled. All of your water bladders, your bodas, your five gallon containers will be filled. Why? Because I don't want to have to turn around halfway through the day and try to figure out how to replenish when we can be deployed for a longer period of time without physical concern. and all of you have to think the same way. Now, I know a lot of guys like to use these camel packs, which to a degree have fallen in vogue, but eh, they find out there's some problems with those too. If you are going to use the camel units, still have conventional canteens, or at the very least, carriers for whatever water bottles you want to carry. Why? Well, those camel carriers are one big diaphragm slash bladder, aren't they Mike? Yep. one hit and you could lose all the water you're carrying, wouldn't you? That's right. Don't put all your eggs in one bath today. That's right. So here again, the idea behind having multiple carriers and multiple types of carriers is because if something happens to one, you don't lose it all. And remember, wars have been lost. Battles have been lost. In fact, there are some horror stories that you can find in every army. from throughout history where water has not been delivered where it was needed or water simply wasn't available where it was needed. For parched throats and exhausted men, possible to complete or even if they were trying to complete the task, the problem is as they progressively ran out of water, it degraded their performance and eventually they were overrun and destroyed by the aggressor. Okay, water is life. Now this is also true in just traveling in general with emergencies. So some people are going, well I'm not going to be in the Malaysian on the... Okay, that's fine. Normal common sense would say it'd be a good idea to have water with you in whatever forms just for traveling. Okay? It's not all the times you need it. It's the times that all of a sudden that one time where it was life threatening and it was critical. And there are many, many examples of this. If you've ever had to treat a burn patient, one of the ways that you can cool a burn patient down quickly in a burn area is by water immersion, or at least by passing water over. Why? Well, let's think about this, guys. What do you use to cool down an engine? Water? Oh, yeah, I know you're going to say, well, yeah, but we use, we've got radiator fluid. Radiator fluid is only an enhancer. What's the core component? Water. Why? Because it's an efficient way to shed calories. When utilizing water to flood or irrigate an area, it works as a cooling agent by drawing the calories out and then dissipating with, of course, evaporation. So there's a number of different ways where, again, getting water into the casualty or putting water on a wound or to clear or irrigate something that's going to be very desirable to initial preparation to reduce the damage to a casualty. We've got Mike Neser here. This is Mark Korky. It is Friday. We are on the Intel Report. We, the People Radio Network, will be back in about three minutes for the first break here on Friday. It'll be fine, but in the long run it's been a great job in the long run. So a liter bottle of skin-shoot because again it's just going to be running in reverse of what you need to be doing. I understand we have a call. It's Bill in Texas. Yes, well unfortunately I can't get you so I'm not sure what the subject is but I just want to know if I could touch on some of these air rifles I heard you talk about in an archived show. Yes, go ahead please. Well my great-grandfather when I was a kid was still alive and he had what he called an ochre's rifle and he was an avid hunter in Africa. He said this thing was designed to stop a buffalo and it was air powered manufactured in the late 1800s. Yes, actually that's true. That's what we were saying. It's interesting we've gone full circle. In the early 1800s, as a matter of fact, whole armies were outfitted with air rifles. The Austrian army had developed a muzzle-loading air rifle that was multi-shot. You could fire it more than one time with one canister charge. They carried spare air canisters on their person just like shot cartridges. And they were effectively killing people out to 300 yards with these air rifles. Yeah, in fact, I would be willing to bet now one of the companies, Beeman, Squire Bingham, were the big companies in England for a long time. And I'd be willing to bet that they probably were the ones who were the parent of that particular design. sound barrier pop away with your life literally right exactly that would be the cool thing about it is no noise which which is why actually the only reason that there are laws for firearms under the rules of war to make noise and flash is because of the Napoleonic wars fighting the air rifles in Spain they bought the Austrian system and they used air rifles for guerrilla warfare after that the Spanish army was defeated As poaching weapons go, again, being subsonic but still just on the edge, in a good sized ball down range or projectile of different types, these different types of projectiles, the air rifle is more than sufficient to be used as a weapon. This thing was a .50 caliber. Yeah, exactly. Yeah, so think about it. You've got to be putting a little under or about a one ounce piece of lead downrange. Even though it may not be as fast, the weight of that bullet combined with its nature as a lead projectile, it would be devastating at delivering all of its energy against the target, which would be optimal. Do you hope anyone still makes them? Well, that's what I'm saying. Square Bingham, or beam and what it was the other company used to be making and we're still making along with several other companies walther make competition their rifles that are in the twenty two caliber velocity and they're also there in twenty two caliber slasher five five six or whatever is five five five five five eight but uh... they've been cast your own pallets uh... they're able to punch the same as any twenty two as far as the larger calibers, I think they just intentionally were shying away from it because the powder companies couldn't sell powder. Think about it. You're talking about metallurgy 100 years ago from the 1880s to 1890s, right? Think about all the technologies and the things we've learned. Why is it we wouldn't be producing an air rifle that could do the same velocities as a conventional arm? I know that we could. I'm sorry. Go ahead, please. Go ahead, Bill. I worked with high pressure air a few times. It was Teflon valves. My argument is that if you think about it, using a pneumatic system with an auto feed, you truly could have caseless ammunition. The only thing that would be in your magazine would be a Sabo projectile using a Sabo basket just like you use for the Remington Sabo slugs only with a little bit more of a cup system to keep it together The only thing that would be in the magazine with a pneumatic with a pneumatic rifle would be the cartridge itself the Forgive me, not the cartridge the bullet just the projectile Everything else would be the weapon and not only that Unlimited power how long would it take for you could have a you could have a hand pump system You could have an on-shoulder stock canister just like you have, well actually standard paintball guns have the basics already there. Or you could go perpetual feed, like you said, off line systems, off existing compressors. Well this is kind of off subject slightly, but of course the laws always change, but one thing I did when I lived in California is I kept a .45 caliber Navy arms in my car. Then you don't fall under the laws. As in, you mean a cap and ball gun? Yes, a revolver was six shots. Right, yes. In fact, the laws are still basically the same on the books. A lot of guys, before and after the Detroit riots, when they were store managers in Detroit, used to carry cap and ball revolvers out in the open because, A, they were not listed as a firearm, and B, if long as they were exposed, you couldn't get anybody for concealed carry. In other words, trying to come up with some way to pull out of their hind end that they were illegal. And that's how a lot of guys defended their stores during the riots in the initial phases until better arms were delivered. Because they could carry the weapons, you know, publicly and openly, and a lot of men did. I know men that did personally. They successfully defend themselves and people go, well it's only a black powder pistol. Black powder wasn't meant to kill anybody. Yeah, that's why they used it in the Civil War, don't you know? Confederacy in the Union. That's okay, go ahead. robbery then they get you for five then they reinterpreted I understand well it depends where you are because even then like you said first of all it conforms to the whole issue of the pre-1898 requirement it's a non-firearm it was generated if it was built or designed before 1898 or is of archaic slash non-standard munitions design there's a whole bunch of technical writings on this subject And that's where they've still tried to, they've decided they want to just interpret it and then you have to fight it and you beat them and you win. But the idea behind it is that they have to try and harass people as much as they can because you're not wanting to be a good victim. or let them know you have it. Right, exactly. Now the air rifle issue on the air weapon, the black powder is another direction to go, but the air in the pneumatics just to plant this seed for everybody that's listening. Imagine taking a regular paintball gun and switching out the barrel from its alloy type barrel to say a titanium or 4140 chromoly barrel. That's step one. Now, muzzle loading that particular, say, 22 inch or 24 inch barrel with a discarding Sabo slug, you know, in a Sabo cup and utilizing a larger aperture, we should be able to bring the velocities of that slug, about one ounce, up to the same velocities as a standard 20 gauge shotgun firing a Sabo slug. I would say that's lethal enough. Well, I hear the music, but one thing you can do is you can have a high pressure container and a small chart, and that would build it up with nitrogen at high pressure instantly. Yes. In fact, today right there we are, Bill, we got Mike, we'll be back in a minute. Hi, my name's Don Wiskin, and for over seven years I've been telling people about CardiBite. So does he got some background noise? Bill, you still there? Yeah, I'm still here. Anything else? Well, just that my grandfather worked in warfare chemistry for 40 years, and I collected his old magazines and books. And they had an article for World War II on an air-operated high-speed machine gun. I don't know if it was ever produced. The way they pressurized the cylinders is they had a charge, and you would screw it in the bottom of the cylinder. You would hit it almost like a cap. and then it would fill up with mostly nitrogen gas, pressure instantly. Yes. There's things you can do out there to get pressure right away and that's pretty much all I had. Well you know real quick before you go, point on that, think about the only consideration which I've been teaching everybody's worried about thermal technology. One of the interesting things about using nitrogen is that they're looking for hot signatures with regard to your weapon systems, right? Think about it. They're looking for the thermal rise off a barrel. They're looking for the muzzle flash and the thermal spike that comes off of the end of the muzzle. One of the interesting things about pneumatic or pneumatic with nitrogen is that it goes in the other direction with regard to thermal signature. Now, you're going to get some. Imagine if you look at cyclic rate with, say, semi-auto rather than full-auto, but let's say semi-auto with an air rifle. you're going to get a limited amount of friction, which is going to bring the temperature up a small niche, okay, with regard to barrel, you know, barrel, barrel calorie transfer. However, the nitrogen is immediately going to offload that. And one of the things that we've always thought might be a problem with nitrogen is you might actually have to look at reheating in some way the barrel because of moisture buildup, freezing. which might be a consideration. However, the charge isn't that significant and the barrel wear from the friction of the projectile, even if it's plastic, going down the barrel probably would compensate for that. So that's the only consideration that you might want to think about. But if anybody wants to do any technical research, this isn't a direction to go in. And again, the military, I believe the only reason that they did not embrace this is because DuPont and all these other companies didn't make any money off it. If they did, it was one quarter to one third the amount. Right, exactly, because think about it. You're looking at errors free, errors everywhere. I mean, the basic components, once you build the say the compression, the compressor system, or you come up with a cartridge system for reloading the modules that you have, Or if you made them throw away. One of the things that changed during World War II significantly was the philosophy of reuse as opposed to use and discard. Now, once they started to embrace the use and discard process like we see with any tank weapons using the pens are false. Once you embrace that, you can simplify the design under the assumption that you may pick them up and recycle them, but if you don't, economically you're not out that great a loss. So, you know, example is we have canister reservoirs for the air. We use them, but if they get dented, they get smashed, or they just get dropped, it's not worth your life to risk, you know, recovering them, that kind of thing. So that's, and again, for vehicle mounted equipment, why worry about it? Think about it. Your air compressor systems would be minimal in terms of taking up space. The only combat weight that you would have is the actual weight of the weapon system, plus only the weight of the magazine and the projectile. No powder, no case. You cut the weight of the overall, the combat weight down by one third or one quarter of what it was before. And you don't have the problem of let's say what happens if your ammo catches fire? That's right. What's going to happen? Actually, and here's the cool thing when we talk about modern technology being incorporated into this. We now have, in fact, remember they've done this with these kids who invented these air cars. The new air cars that are running off air, the first thing they said was, oh, you've got pressure tanks. So what they did is they've come up with impact safe pressure tanks that shatter in such a way that they release the air rather than as an explosion. It just literally dissipates on impact. So it can't hurt anybody. Now you take that technology, incorporate that into a military application, you've eliminated one of the biggest concerns with regard to any kind of reservoir of material that you have in a fighting situation that may become a threat to the crewmen. So there's another advantage, like you said, and the air isn't going to burn per se. If it takes a hit, the canister could be designed and can be designed so it dissipates the pressure appropriately. You shuck the canister, replace the canister with a new module, and away you go. that'll work so yes this is something we do need to talk about and it's something that everybody out there hopefully this listing is thinking about because if all else fails imagine stationary defense systems that can be abandoned but could be built very simply that would have on limited magazine capacity Now some little team of five black ninjas are at the door and all of a sudden you have a static defense system that could be remotely operated. You hit a switch and all of a sudden there's a saw cut in the door. Well like an X, a Z, it's a Y. Look at it this way, however you decide to cut, nothing gets past it. Now that would be rather mean wouldn't it? Well mean but... I mean, mean isn't cool, flash effective, flash, man, that was a mean, that was a mean job. That's exactly it. That's my point. And again, even if it's just single shot, the point is that you can also make long range, quiet India placement rifles. In other words, let's say I want to reach a distance, discarding Sabo, a hourglass 20 gauge type slug, long barrel, low pressure, high velocity. I'd say I got a pretty nice little package there. There's one thing I was talking about earlier when some people give these things or we read about cholera for the border and everything and then somebody hears this and automatically they think that they've been on an airplane or they've got to a restaurant and they got cholera. I'll tell you, you'll be going from both. You'll be having this most severe vomiting. If you have ever experienced food and you prance or you're vomiting and stuff, chances are you don't have cola failure. You'll know what's going on. Basically what it is is you're sloughing off the lining of your intestines and then your body just typically the cases they'll have the explosive onset and watery stool and they're gonna soon lose odor. You're just passing now next to all of the becomes dehydrated and acidotic. That means a low blood pressure, normal temperature, shallow breathing, Now your hematocrit, that's a blood test, it arrives sharply due to the walling in the concentration of red cells. Now the fibros can usually be cultivated from the sputum, they'll be found using a granule. So under next to A, your diagnosis is going to be colic. So have a differential diagnosis of other causal treatments. Next to P, you have water and electrolyte loss, must be restored, this must be treated. or hematoconcentrations, they've got to be measured at least equal that are unable to take fluid 100 milligrams. They should also be given. The main thing is if somebody comes down with this contact, don't come in contact. You don't have to test this and dengue fever, tick fever, and quite a different ones of these than the little bugs. Touch on with those with some of the bigger bugs and stuff and be carrying We kind of got about halfway through about diarrhea for dogs. Now pay attention folks. We're going to the yesterday we were talking about some of the questions to test them. Is it accompanied by persistent vomiting? Hey, maybe they've got color. Question if none of those were true, then to a normal place. That's another good way to tell if you're starting to collapse. Is it running a fever or is it a puppy? For two days on antibiotics or any other drugs you want to phone. the dog otherwise normal, but is it scavenging? Is it been given any bones? What we had said, yeah, what we're going to do initially is remove all food and water from the preparation. One teaspoon pounds every six hours or if they're having diarrhea with my vomiting. While again, we want to remove all of the dogs. My gondar is small, eight of about one teaspoon or a tablespoon vomiting is a normal diet. We want to reduce by not giving by not letting the dog scam, march and things like that. What would we do? Would we help supplement? That's going to be a call that you're going to have to make, but mind it, if they even be bad, then they're going to get diarrhea and vomiting and then they're going to become a casualty. And we're going to start touching on drowning here. We're changing gears here. Drowning emergencies occur most frequently. Naturally strong ponds and lakes or rivers, especially the dog with the hook, you enter the water, conscious, return to land and keep it warm. The dog is unconscious, drained holding it upside down for 10 to 20 seconds giving the world downward shake. Shake out the water from the air passage just in lungs and then from side twisting it up and down. The dog is squeeze the chest firmly to help expel any water in there. And then you want to position the dog on its side with its head lower than its lungs. Well, I hear the music. I think I heard it coming in and then it's been a stop there for a second. I thought we got cut off. Uh-oh. Well, we're right at the top of the hour. Mike, thanks for being here. And again, we... What?
