And there's something a doctor, a medic from World War II addressed talking to me said, you know, the average, I mentioned this on the air, the The doctors were too busy trying to save people with chunks of body parts missing so that they didn't have time for the everyday occurrences like broken limbs. They didn't usually deal with, for instance, appendectomies. And birthing children actually would fall into that same category in that we have to have as many different lay people as possible in place because the doctors, although again, if there's a critical issue or something arises to the complication, the doctor's going to turn and address it. We need a cadre of people who have a wide range of skills in the medical area to deal with volume. In other words, lots and lots of occurrences that are normal that happen every day. Broken arms, for instance. What the corpsman, friend of mine was a corpsman, he wasn't his. The corpsman, what they do is they bring him in, they take 10 of them and they say, see this guy, he's got a broken arm. I'm gonna show you how to fix this. Watch, we're gonna identify the problem. We're all going to look to see how it looks. Sorry about this. The soldier's going to be the teaching subject. Everybody would look. The doctor would fix it. The doctor would send that litter out. He'd send and bring the next arm in and they'd have a whole bunch of arm patients with this particular assembly line. And then he'd do it again. Well, in the third time, he'd say, okay, it's your turn. He'd just turn. One of the men would say, it's your turn. You've seen what I've done a couple of times. You already had the class in the other room. Now it's your turn. And what they did is OJT, on the job experience. That's how it worked, on the job training. So what happened is they had real good experience and became leg specialists, arm specialists. What he did was appendectomies. and he did more appendectomies than the doctor ever did because the doctor was busy saving lives with people who didn't have an abdomen anymore in some cases. They didn't just have to worry about the appendicitis being a problem. They just had to worry about the fact that they might be missing most of their bowels. So again, birthing and birth support and postpartum support is something that is going to have to be integrated into the system. cannot rely upon. Let's say that there's a major disaster like the crisis we saw with New Orleans only on a larger scale because they keep telling us something's going to happen. We're going to need that mechanism in place, aren't we, Mike? Yes, absolutely. And I'll definitely get on that, start putting together some things, this midwife OB kit and things, you bet. All set, George? I got one more question for Mike. I know he lives down Arizona. With the militia units down there, has the militia units tried working with the sheriff? Tried to be letting the sheriff know we're here to help with the border problem, to divert the illegals out of the way from the town so they don't go bother people's property? and now the Arizona legislator ability of making these arrests, the ability of it that you're working in, it seems, 2008 consortium to challenge this in the state of Arizona. And this is a good way to get a consortium together to start to deal with another element that I have always been very concerned with, and that is an in-depth medical support mechanism so people can take care of themselves. Now, I'm giving an example of something, and one of our weapons trainers brought this up in a couple of emails this week. Mr. Taylor, who was killed down in Florida, remember all he had was a machete, as Larry brought up yesterday. He had a machete, the guy that was breaking into the house had a gun. He was shot, and actually the injury could have been dealt with. Now there's two things, it hit the femoral artery, so that was a problem. But, because there was no treatment and no proper action taken is really why he died. Right. You know, call 911 and wait for somebody else to deal with it. And the problem here, even with self-injury, this is one of the reasons that we always promote carrying personal bandages on web gear, but also on our person. I have a vest that I wear. A lot of people will notice in the pictures that it looks kind of chunky all over the place. Well, there's a reason. I wear usually just a utility black or utility green vest. It's got about 11 pockets. and every pocket is full, okay, no matter where I go. Now, what does it have in it? All kinds of knickknacks, but one of the things that I carry in every pocket is some form of medical support to include the fact that on that vest, I always carry four small military compresses. Now, I've had car accidents I've come across where everything in that vest has been used. Between two casualties, even one casualty, easily could use them up. Plus, I've used it for my own treatment, which is the idea, to have this stuff on hand. But it's a tool bag. But it's a tool vest. The vest can be thrown on real quick. It has everything on board that I need. I've got a small knife. I've got zip ties. I've got paper clips. I've got small tools. I've got a little Leatherman. I've got a little Swiss Army knife variant, which has all the other tools in it. I've got what's called a tool card. I don't know if many people remember those. A little razor blade, of course, other little small tools with that, as far as it can be used or improvised for medical support to disassemble and assemble things. And everything is packed up, so I know where it is. In the dark, I could turn, open up, zip open a pocket, and I know what's there. We need to have that type of system in place for everybody, and that Mr. Taylor, all it would have required was either a simple tourniquet, which of course they won't teach anymore. And the other is compresses because the compress will do the same thing. So guys, go right ahead. I think we're heading the right direction. How does that sound to you, Mike? Is that something you feel like you want to commit the time to? Oh, absolutely. That's one thing that Mark is in. That is a problem because some of the American frequencies are intentionally blocked out by the manufacturer. Or even my tangent, the FSB model, it says it's out of the broadcast range. I didn't know if it was the... was that the Eastern time? What time was that? Eastern time, yes, it's 9.30 to 10.30 p.m. Eastern Standard Time on Mondays on 9.265. I couldn't get it. I have an SFB, a Sanjan 505, and I just didn't even notice any noticeable change when I was scanning through that area. I noticed that even on my sand unit it said that was the out of the broad, the suspected broadcast area, so like it says they blocked that out. That might be something to look at because I have a bunch of other cheaper shortwave ones and it's not on any of those either as far as bands. So that's the stuff I pick up the store, you might want to look at that. But if it's not covered you're going to miss a lot of shortwave. I'm going to do exactly that's why we're trying to do a spot check on the freak itself. Now tell you what, we're going to address the dog issue with medical support, but the basic rule, if all else fails, go to a lot of your old animal husbandry texts for farming. and the basic rules especially for cuts, injuries you treat, obviously the same as a human, but there's a lot of different industrial farm medications that are over the counter, sulfadine in many different, there's purizone, there's a number of different other ones, it would be a good idea to have a tub of that on the shelf, cost is about $7.80, depending on where you are, go to your farm and fleet stores or any of your feed stores. it looks like a yellow paste on the way you're to what what i'm talking about i have seen this stuff he'll wounds in twenty four hours is it going to be a perfect mic everything over-the-counter that it's uh... so to a better that uh... can be used on humans as far as uh... medicines that are to buy a look at uh... maybe there's something there that we could use that still work on humans i don't know going to pull enough with your dog is uh... you can rehydrate them that way so you ever to use The last thing, Mark on the 10 meters, have you thought about using that? A lot of people have 10 meters. And the other thing is I'm looking for gas mask bags for those gas masks or something like that. The M9 gas masks, there were gas mask bags or the M17 bags. Okay, Rick from Nevada jump in there please. Do you have any tips on extreme cold weather survival when there's no snow or not enough snow to make a snow cave? That was one thing that we were going to jump into in the body of cold. You can air in the windle swirl back against there during the wooded area like a light tent and you can climb it at night. You're concerned about any overhang so you want to avoid underneath there of ideas. One thing that you really want to be careful So one of the other things I would recommend as far as basic evacuation or basic emergency support might be the best that we're talking about. I almost always carry one of the cheaper thermal blankets. I consider ponchos and thermal blankets a tool because if you do not have, as you said in the cold weather situation, anything in the way of snow for creating insular packing, you have to make up for the difference with shielding. Again, a couple of ponchos. Two ponchos per person is standard and mandatory for all of our militia formations. They carry all the time. One poncho can be used for ground or it can be used for overhead cover with a second as a dew line or a rain cover or it can be used to improvise a number of other different quick mummy bags if need be. Again, the old leaf technique or with other types of organic materials that might build up. Again, out in Nevada, the biggest problem there is a little dryer and not quite as many leafy materials to use. Then Mr. Shovel, that's the other reason I remember I mentioned this on the air. Mr. E-tool should be carried by each person in the formation, not just one or two people out of a group. The entrenching tool, now they make a bunch of cheap little ones that are little camper units. They're only about the size of the width of a coffee cup, but that's a hell of a lot better than trying to dig with your hands. So as long as everybody is carrying an E-tool, if all else fails, start digging down. Get down below the surface, build up the berm. You can do overhead cover. You can create a small hobo stove or use your camping stove systems to heat the area. But one way or another, you have to put material between you and the environment. Of course, we can't dig a root cellar real fast. but given enough time, you can actually dig positions then make them reasonably comfortable. I've done it many, many times over the years. In an emergency situation, Mr. E-Tool, especially, is your friend. It's something that should be with everyone in the vehicle, on your person. Okay, Rick? Oh, I think Rick let us go to let us speak.
