This is the Intel report live and we've got Mike to cover field sanitation and also just general support. We're in the field and I know that we've covered another couple of subjects here, but I really, really, really, really, really had to address them because some of the things I've heard, I know some of the stuff that's going on, and you know what? It's our job to fix the line, make sure the bayonets are in place, and if somebody falls, we make sure that the ranks are closed or that immediately the reserve is in place to fill that hole, and we hold the line. That's step one. And we take real estate. That's combat infantry, people. You hold, but you hold only so long as you can build up strength, and then you advance. And it's your job with your combined arms team. It's all the other support mechanisms have to be in place to make sure that when you move forward, you hold whatever you take, it costs you blood. It costs you resources. It costs you something you cannot replace. And because of that, you make sure you do the best you possibly can with the resources that you have. And one of the things we need to make sure of is that our people are squared away from top to bottom. It's not just a combat arm element, people. It's also making sure that you're physically able. And I think, Mike, you went right down through the list. You know, physically capable. You need to be physically healthy. If we do not maintain ourselves in the field, then we see a progressive, there's actually a chart for degradation of our troops, isn't there? So we know that a certain amount of loss of calories, failure to maintain personal hygiene, and I think that's tied into all this. Now go right through. Of course, we're looking first. We're talking about the encampment because a lot of people are very familiar with this issue. So let's say we're going to move on to a site. We got into the basics here. Go right on through, and let's go through the checklist of what we need to look at. And again, we covered the cabin. We assumed, and I know it works both ways. Some of you have cabins. Some of you don't. Some of you are going to come in with 10-inch or whatever. You know, there's some considerations with drainage with water there, isn't there? Oh, absolutely. And with the general wind direct, sure that you do not set up a dining facility dry in there, dry shaving. But you know what, after a while, you get used to the packs that are going to occur where the agent is going to get in. So I touched on that earlier. You want to minimize the amount of cooking. One of the best stoves in SR stands for Mountain Safety Research, XGK. They recommend not to use leaded fuel because if you're in an enclosed environment, then the leaded things that you want to use if you're in pain, but you need to have it well ventilated because it won't release carbon monoxide, especially with using charcoals or generator. If you have a lantern, like a Coleman lantern or a Hurricane lantern, it will handle you handy. this time of year you can go around to everybody seems to be having all these Halloween and everything and you can get two or three of them. I got six of them for a dollar the other day. So the main thing is it's also especially down in a, if you ever gone into a cave, which way is up, distinguish them or you have the dishes for out in the field. The dishes that you're going to have because that's going to conserve your amounts of water that you have. You're going to consider using paper plates or towels, especially with the spread of the watch on that in a bit or use it if you just have cans of sink to help minimize the amounts of the morning to have their coffee in and then they can rinse it out and they can use it for liner and then get rid of it. One other aspect of use that to wash a lot of the big part of the plates or you're out and then all you need to do is just to rinse the air drying. Like I say, once again, you need to have something where you can, after you've washed your dishes where they can air dry. And then after you've air dried them, you want to make sure that you have a footlocker. You can use if you're limited in the amount of fuel that you have or you don't want to leave a heat signature or smoke or anything. You can use calcium hypochlorite, which is a common pool shock. You can use it at your pool supply places. You can use the iodine to dip your dine that there are certain amount of it is especially with the iodine it only works from about 7 to 110 degrees. So if you're ish again and it's 50 degrees still above freeze and if you're going to rely on the iodine it's not going to be it's not going to work at all or it's not going to be very effective to clean those dishes that you're relying on to do that. And you know, we're, I see right now we're going to have to suppose on this because one thing, if you happen to cabin, decided to stay in, if you're already out in a remote location, the tank is good. The handling of this will all vary, all the, how many pots and pans or how big of water you're going to have to have to sanitize your dishes. That's going to be, if you're one or two people, that's fine. If you've got, then you're going to have to have holes in the ground or, you know, sanitize the dishes. Usually, and it also depends on how long you're going to be in a certain area. If you're going to be there and you have quite a few people, you might consider it trench. It's about one foot wide, four feet long, and about three or four feet deep. Tree down low towards diameter and about seven to 10 feet long at about a 45 degree angle. And then you'll have about three feet of it run. Do with it there, where the stream is and the glade and all this stuff. We're going to dig our latrine over here and wash our hands and everything. One thing is do you have a water source? You're going to move it away to a point. Any runoff, ensure that somebody isn't, like what we've mentioned, the body clean.
