Mark Koernke and co-host Donald Betcher discussed Weapons Wednesday topics focused on ammunition and firearms. They covered .223 rifle specifications, including proper bullet weights for different barrel twists (one-in-eight for 69-80 grain bullets, one-in-nine for 52-69 grain bullets), and emphasized the importance of knowing weapon performance. The hosts addressed ammunition shortages and promoted reloading as a solution, discussing historical precedents from the 1970s-80s when ammunition was similarly scarce. They provided detailed information on alternative ammunition sources, SKS rifle modifications using Tapco dust covers with integral scope mounts, night vision equipment options, and laser targeting systems. Multiple ammunition suppliers were referenced with contact information, including Ammunition2Go and Centerfire Systems. The show also promoted Gun Owners of America membership and announced a guest appearance from the 50 Caliber Shooters Association.
I had a dream the other night that, well, I didn't understand. A figure walked in through the mist with a flintlock in his hand. His clothes were torn and dirty as he stood there by my bed. He took off his three-cornered hat, and speaking low to me, he said, we've fought a revolution to secure our liberty. We wrote the Constitution as a shield from tyranny. For future generations, this legacy we gave. In this, the land of the free.
in home of the brave. The freedoms we secured for you we hoped you'd always keep. The tyrants labored endlessly while your parents were asleep. Your freedom's gone, your courage lost, you're no more than a slave. In this, the land of the free, the brave. You buy permits to travel and permits to own a gun. Permits to start a business or to build a place for one. On land that you believe you own, you pay a yearly rent.
Although you have no voice in saying how the money's spent, your children must attend a school that doesn't educate, and your Christian values can't be taught according to the state. You read about the current news in a regulated press, and you pay a tax you do not owe to please the IRS. Your money is no longer made of silver nor of gold. You trade your wealth for paper so your life can be controlled.
You pay for crimes that make our nation turn from God and shame. You've taken Satan's number. You've traded in your name. You've given government control to those who do you harm so they could burn down churches and seize the family farm and keep our country deep in debt. Put men of God in jail. Harash your fellow countrymen while corrupted courts prevail. Your public servants don't uphold the solemn oaths they've sworn.
and your daughters visit doctors so their children won't be born. Your leaders send artillery and guns to foreign shores and send your sons to slaughter fighting other people's wars. Can you regain the freedoms for which we fought and died? Or don't you have the courage or the faith to stand with pride? And are there no more values for which you'll fight to save? Or do you wish your children to live in fear and be a slave?
Oh, sons of the Republic, arise, take a stand, defend the Constitution, the Supreme Law of the land, preserve our great Republic and each God given right, and pray to God to keep the torch of freedom burning bright. As I awoke, he vanished in the midst of whence he came. His words were true. We are not free, but we have ourselves to blame.
For even now as tyrants trampled each God-given right, we only watched him tremble, too afraid to stand and fight. If he stood by your bedside to dream while you were asleep and wondered what remains of the freedoms he fought to keep, what would be your answer if he called out from the grave, dill the land of the free? Oh, I just found it.

and it is Weapons Wednesday, so that one goes in the tube, the slide gets closed, everything I can see is five caliber safer. Of course, I feel safer now too. We know that everything is secure within our perimeter, area of operation, and it is Weapons Wednesday, so we do have a lot of things to share. Break your pens and papers out, because yes, we'll be giving numbers and contact information as always, or at least reinforcing some that you might have misplaced, because I know how that is too. Well, I've got some of those right up front. I'm gonna write this down, or you know, one-
right one in nine for sending twist one slash off the phone with a good folks at armalite you know our friend is subject to the error a little while ago mark about what particular twist at armalite Jan in particular says that one in eight twist 69 to 80 grain bullet the one in nine twist in two tooth the 52 to 69 grain bullet easier said to fix the heavier bullet okay
And now you can experiment around in that, you know, that's 11 grains on a 2-2-3. That's a substantial portion influencing your trajectory. I'm certain you agree, Mark. But if you go from 52 to 80, great difference in the weight you're sending down range. You might wonder if you've got a one in nine twist and you're sending 69 grain bullets down it, why you've got five inch groups. When the manufacturer guaranteed you two or even one inch groups, which barrel you bought.
Well, this might be the solution, you guys. Again, I'll do this. Two, three. One in eight twist. It blows. 69 to 80 grain bullets. The one in nine twist, it really digests that. 52 grain to 69 grain bullets. We've cleared that up for you. Save some of your buddies some money from buying the wrong bullet for their gun and shooting 20 inch groups. 20 inch groups. They go zoom by your head, don't they? You know, you just hear those. There was another beat. Or somebody over there, there's some activity in the air. 20 inch groups are...
not conducive to looking at you.
Also that it would spread the cone of destruction a little more efficiently well with rifleman just a reverse We aren't trying to scare them. We're trying to hit them the idea is to stop your target Well stop your target you got to keep your group fairly tight We want to keep the rounds where you place them you know where you wanted to place them which is most important and That's the best way to do it is again using the proper rounds combined with the existing system Know your weapon and how it performs and will the performance of each of those of those projectiles
And even if you do have to change bullets, you have a good idea of what the difference will be with point of impact. And that's crucial too. That's one of the things to put into this, you know, mark into this formula, something we talked about on other Weapons Wednesdays. Once you use a certain load, you're going to know automatically where to place that round. There's a feel to the weapon. That's the only way to describe it. Everything locks in, and literally, you're in the groove when you're in that notch.
And of course you need to know, first of all, how your rounds are going to perform in the weapon system that you're using. And this gives you a chance to have a better understanding of what weight bullet, because we know a lot of people are reloading 223 down. They're having to because of what's happening right now. Now the next step that I can see is bullets slash projectiles, which have already been drying up and are harder and harder to get. Well, here's a little reminder.
because there are problems getting two to three bullets just like we saw back in 1977 people. It's been 30 years. The circle is now complete. And guess what? Consumption has been at such a level with a half rate or a pipsqueak war going on overseas. Sorry, but it ain't that big. It's bad for the people that are there. But guys,
Okay, take a look at some of the other conflicts we've been in and we've been able to maintain support for our troops without taxing our industrial base. Right, right. We're taxing our industrial base and buying from foreigners to get enough ammunition. Well, that means that, Dom, we're going to be needing bullets. Your .22 caliber rimfire empty cases are good for something. Remember, they're soft brass.
Well, back in the 70s, and again this was reintroduced in the early 80s, about 82-83, a series of ingenious reloaders came up with a solution for producing your own jacketed 223 bullet from a combination of the .22 caliber rimfire case, a bullet swage, and of course, lead solder or lead solder sticks.
Now again, the write-ups are out there. American Survival Guide was one of the magazines that covered this. There were even some discussions in the NRA publication circles. So if you do a little research, you're going to find that not only is it possible, it is completely economical. When you start seeing the cost of these bullets start to creep up into the outrageous range, then people will come up with alternate solutions.
And that's what they did. So, you know, that's why I will say this to all of you. Watching the history of the Batfaggots and the system. What happened in the late 70s and early 80s is 10 years after the Gun Control Act of 1968, they thought they'd cut off the ammunition and nobody'd be able to do anything. Everybody started to improvise and everybody was reloading.
you want to send a message to the bad guys get a reloading press even if it's only a forty dollar leo press or a c press or whatever whatever you can afford rock trucker that's right better you more money you can you can spend the better your press will be but the thing is we need production across the country at the tactical level what was happening late seventies nearly eighties is that we literally had
tens upon tens of thousands of little micro factories all over the country and the bad guys had actually promoted the process so they loosened up on things because they were hoping to back off on the reloaders in other words to get people to get lazy a lot of us didn't get lazy we just took advantage of all that lead bulk ammunition that came in and we still kept reloading developed but hunting shack out of Montana
So how about the people building the AMAX bullet? Hornaday, well they were existing before but again, on the table you guys because Mark you mentioned the desperation. We might simply want to pour lead bullets just to pour bullets down range. But you know you send that pure lead bullet down the tube of an M16 or a gas operated gun like a Desert Eagle, an Uzi, something like that, guess what? It'll operate for a while, then all it'll be is a paperweight because
Lead will get into places where you will never be able to clean it out. Lead will get into places that operate the gun. This is one of the reasons why they do not, some guns rather, they do not wish to digest at all. And again these FMJs, think about it, you're taking the 22 caliber jacket, a throwaway brass item that is mass produced, it is a production item.
You're taking lead solder stick, but guys, don't tell me, oh Mark Lee, they're banning lead. Well, that's okay, that's fine. Go to 10 or go to whatever pot metal you're using. It swages out just fine with a carbide dye.
And what you do, or for that matter, with a regular die, but I just buy best quality dies you can, if you can afford anything to spend money on anything, you spend money on the dies for sure. If you gotta go cheaper, you go cheaper. If you have cheaper now and you go to better later, save the other dies so you have backups or so you can do more when the time comes by putting those old dies on another used press or another old press and you got four, five, or six operators going instead of one on the same caliber.
See how that works?
You can get 40- Yeah, 40 gallon tails full of the stuff and they'll just, oh yeah, sure. Now they sell it to the scrappers. So you might have to pay a few pennies for it, but you know what? It's going to be a hell of a lot cheaper and 99% of the time you can get it for free by the way, because we've done that many times. A hell of a lot cheaper than having to go out and pay top dollar for the bullets because 2-2-3 to me, again, we know it's 22 caliber. When they start getting to be as pricey as 30 caliber rounds, you might as well start reloading 30 caliber.
You know what I mean? In other words, if it's going to cost me the same price for a 7.62 bullet, then it's going to cost for a 2.23 bullet, if I'm going to have to spend that kind of money, I might as well add a little more powder, put a little more bullet down range, and put a better hole in the target. The other thing is, you're looking at a particular judge the way. Listen to that. That 1911 elite led bullets all day long. No, I don't have to put a metal jacket down this. We keep the bar clean, and granted, eventually it will be fouled, but that lead will be stripping off. And if need be, lead will still be going.
much.
of
And the bugger was faster, it had greater armor penetration, and it absolutely conformed to their requirements for an aluminum tin projectile. You guys, at the end of World War II, the Germans were building wooden bullets. That's a fact. Anything they get their hands on. Yep, the intelligence reports, you guys. Bigger, better, more solutions. We'll be right back.

basic tenet of yeast in the gut and metals in the liver covers at least seven to eighty percent of the diseases that we see. When we do our program, you know, in herbal formula like cardivite and you see someone who could barely walk up a hill, now going for regular jobs a few months later, we know we're doing something right. It's a well thought out formula. I mean, the idea of it working on yeast and metals both at the same time and liver function is dead on. You'll find, I think, that it'll work more than just on heart problems and circulation problems. It'll work on other problems as well.

Uh, the intelligence report, it is weapons Wednesday, uh, I'd like to let that play out, you hear me say that a lot, but get your own poker face and you can listen to it on your time. Still breathing, it's a gift. Thanks. Uh, you know, the wooden bullet wooden bullet. Think about it. Found on an x-ray. Yeah, I'm here. Go ahead. Okay. Um, one thing, if you get a chance, if a chance to purchase it, try to get the six in the, uh, Denver is you got to lubricate more than you get, than you have to with the, uh, when you're doing that, if you pull the lever down and you lift the case up and you just built the
or retized and you have a dent, you're using too much. You've got hydraulic lock there. You're cautious in your balance of how much you're lubing. I just put that out of the way. I just wanted to give you a little heads up on that. And so nine is... I'm going to mount that down to one in nine twists, huh? I got a 24 inch flat top, like I'm telling you. I'm not lying to you. It groups under a quarter of a quarter inch or under five side of a quarter inch. That's a thumbnail, folks. I mean, you know, that's inside the thumbnail. Well, I'm done. I just wanted to...
Give you my two cents for today. Well the biggest problem is finding two two three in general So if you've got any follow-up or leads on that guys Make a point of passing up here on the winner. I don't want to I don't want to compete with you Don But I found a four power monocular at decent price first generation. Well, I wouldn't know I'm not first generation. Okay, so cheap night vision one eight hundred two two nine two nine zero one
4 by monocular 169 99 number E8-7316 it's a 4 by monocular say a single lens okay yeah yeah it's like kind of like that what was that the it's probably Russian based or something like that mark says picking up that expensive comparable to that right off you Tom yeah probably less than that so again
matter of fact that they were gonna do right there a good point Tom we're gonna have Don give out his contact number because Don does have contacts for night vision this is his specialty so that's a good lead-up thank you Don give out your info thank you guys after this and reach me at seven nine or six I do you know what's my people as far as they tell me well don't and I can't I'm not gonna tell you prices on the air but I will tell you that I will sell for you I just don't know you have you have a Weaver mount gun sights I do
It goes on the bottom of say the OWL scope to handle those. You have one of those? While back we were talking about cheap night persistence and night vision. If you get an SKS and you get a top of mounting rail and you put that block on there with the, then you put a cheap $15 laser underneath and it's a good night. For the simple reason that it loses its future field of vision. So anything you can see you can hit.
As a matter of fact, although again, the solution, if you look at the tape that Don did, which is a night vision primer, that's one of the systems that we had put together years ago, basically. Me too. Me too. You want to know, those guns have gone up a lot of money now. The most affordable SKS now, it's on top of that.
Let's do it like this. If you're gonna target with a laser, don't get a laser with an on-off switch, get a laser with a pressure pad. You can bring the target to bear in your sight, you can point the gun in the general direction, and then, faster than I can describe it to you, pressure the switch, turn the laser on, correct your target, take your shot, and turn the laser off. Faster than I've described to you. I'm telling you, you know what, I've shot both of them.
with it in total darkness. Well the thing about it is we were talking about the S-CAS, there are plenty of S-CAS out there but the M66 model is the most affordable. There is a shooter grade that's been going for about $100 at the Dunham's Sporting Goods which is one of several we have chains we have in the Midwest. But when you brought that up, one of the solutions, although they've gone up quite a bit in price,
Is there is a complete dust cover replacement fixture and okay, give everybody get your pen and paper ready. Here we go I know I had it here somewhere. I saw it cover already has the integral rail on top. Is that the one? Yep, that's the one we're looking for here. I have one. Yeah, okay this now first of all the company is Tapco they still have these because I called and checked on them Tapco tapco.com Their number is 1-800-554-854
1-4-4-5. That's 1-800-554-1445. And the item number, well at least this is one, there are other solutions. They have several different variations right now, but this is the one we used before. It is M-N-T-6-6-0-1. Again, that's M-N-T-6-6-0-1.
6601 it's the SKS high pro side mount receiver cover scope mount That's a long title for basically an SKS dust cover with a complete scope mount on top of it Here's a cute one for you too Mark. Don't look at it like this one. You know how it's called the back one fire on? We're required the thumb the thumb hole AK47 to have a little bit of a a little bit of a screw in the bottom of it So you couldn't use standard AK mags in it
You understand? When you get that, it's got a notch in it, right? So you know what? They said, if you remove the screw, you won't pick the weapon. Right? Do you know what I did, Doug? We gotta go to break. Okay, I'll hold on.
We'll be back in a minute.

Hi, this is Lance Kelter and I firmly support Ron Paul as next president of the United States. I told myself a new disaster will be rocking San Antonio and support Iran. It's going to be a great day of music. Don't miss it. Congressman Ron Paul, champion of the Constitution, is coming to San Antonio July 28. on 2008.
Here's something that you did bring, if you over loop the case you will change the dimensional. Oh yeah, I know. A little thing to do? A little bit more lube in the neck of the case. It doesn't get fire formed to the chamber, it was discharged. People that will want to take a bit of a criss-cross you would call it. You know, we call it the wet or dry shape of your fire. Right, that's for specific custom loading for a particular firearm without handing the ammunition off to another. When you went to 23, just how accurate does it have?
We're talking about the different worlds, yes, we're talking two different worlds, two, three versus, but still it's the concept of how the brass is handled. I'll give you that formula again. 250 degrees at three hours, air cool. Got that done. Then pop out the primer. I just wanted to put my three... Excellent. Almost a nickel Tommy, thank you. All right. I was in the chat room too, but we also have M850SS109.
$399 for 840 rounds. That's match grade ammo, man. I think it's worked at that rate. Right, and this is ammunition2go.com. The other consideration is right now, anybody who has any lots of .223, they're basically like water hitting a skillet. We know that. So the M855, CSS 109 round, 309. That's probably Israeli sniper ammo.
Well, we will find out actually. I would like to know more about this because typically and again I want to thank you. We've got the long website here with all those particulars where to go. But ammunition2go.com backslash catalog backslash product rather than trying to go a whole long distance here. If anybody's got the guys, if you have the 800 number or a call number, I'd like to give that on the air too. So punch that up if you have it right there on hand.
That's the M855SS109, $399 for 840 rounds. And that's ammunition2go.com. We'll try to get the 800 number or a call number for that so that you guys can give them a ring. Also, let's see, M85562 grain manufactured to middle spec, not repack ammo. 120-round bandoliers and it's boxer-prined military ammunition.
Keep that in mind too as we know that's always desirable and it's in the bandoliers I would assume guys that it's also in the stripper clips then to discount burn in primer ammo No, and no no brass will be so in fact I cannot stress good point We're going to bring this up again I've said this some as for as long as I've been on the air if you shoot any somebody tells you it's not reloadable That's nonsense given the opportunity and the need you all to reload it. I'll think before I run away I'll be over showing this not
away from the blazer and lubricating. Also sharp and everything is calculated to blink it around, that's fine. And you really gotta use this gun. That's where again, the most important is prioritize the inexpensive ammunition or ammunition like that for training purposes and for familiarization. Officially used as ways to advance the education of the shooter. That doesn't mean we want that to happen, but
does happen then they have to go through procedure and immediate action is something that should be part of their conditioning. The bullet heads on just feeding the cases. That sharp on the air before. My 1911 only likes to cycle one type of hollow point. It is the front of this hour you hear me drop one in the tube and then I close the magazine when I fill the web. That means that I'm making use of those hollow points aren't gonna cycle. They're right they're already beyond the cycle stage.
Understand they've gone downrange over time. They did not go to waste.
And by the way, you know what, well, if he has a good thing, I'd let him go. But we're going to be doing some more recording and we're going to have a few more skits up and online for you with Saul and company. So keep an eye on our radio programming for that. It'll be coming up the next week or two. Look into it. Yes. You know what? We promised you a guest, by the way, today. So for those people who are wondering, we just haven't connected back yet. And I'm working on that right now.
But when we go to break, I'm going to see if I can track down all the contact information again here for some reason. It's put away from the workstation. And we will probably have a guest up perhaps for the 6 to 7 o'clock hour, it looks like. So in the meantime, again, there are a bunch of other solutions to the problem. Most important is this. And I will say this about the aluminum ammunition too, the lawman ammo.
We experimented with and have done entire test batches even in, and again, don't throw even the aluminum brass so that's an oxymoron. The aluminum casings, because in an emergency it's a manufactured item that we may have to use. It's not that we choose to use it, we may have to use it.
sort them out. Now this is what we've said many times, get the old gallon jugs, wash them out, dry them out, just keep putting the the uh, expended uh, shells into those one gallon containers. If it's stuff you're not reloading, down the road we got it when we need it. You screw the lid on this dry. We'll be back in about three minutes here on We The People Radio Network.

Nuclear reactors provide economical energy, but would you be prepared during an accident? During nuclear disasters, great amounts of radioactive iodine are released into the atmosphere, which are then readily absorbed into the body. Medical cores, potassium iodate gives you virtually complete protection from the most feared consequence of a nuclear accident, radioactive poisoning. Potassium iodate can protect against radioactive
poisoning by filling the thyroid with good iodine. This shields the thyroid and prevents it from absorbing a harmful radioactive iodine. Potassium iodate is better than the iodide form because it is not as likely to cause upset stomachs in children, the elderly, the sick, and pets. This is one of the few locations right now where it's supposed to be in stock. Now I will say this, when you call them, and the number is 979-277-9676, make sure the stuff is in inventory. That's the first and most important thing.

And we'll keep doing weekend pass the word on there.
We've got, of course, one more time for another friend of ours, well, at least a company that I've been dealing with for years and years and years. Centerfire Systems Incorporated.
